The Bixby button can (at least on the latest May update ASE7) be remapped to perform custom actions, and one of those is to open the camera in Pro mode.
By setting the Single Press action to a Quick Command, you can make your own command which is to open the camera in Pro mode. Simply click the Camera when creating a Quick Command and it will give you a suggested option to open in Pro mode.
It only works when the phone is unlocked, at least for me. Still, that's a handy shortcut.

I never use the camera button on my streak so I want to change it so it would be useful to me (maybe locking auto rotate or assigning a task killer program to it for instant memory). Any have any ideas on how to do this and/or do you want to change the action of your camera button?
You can use buttonremapper to reassign the camera key (but it will no longer be a camera key, even if you are using the camera app or something like vignette). You need root for this- I have it as media pause/play

EDIT : can u post the mod that you did
I modified keyboard layout file and search button works as camera app launcher:
1. Long press to launch camera app.
2. Press (short) to take a picture.
Needs ES File Explorer or Root Explorer to edit key layout file.
Root required!
edit:
/system/usr/keylayout/cy8c201xx.kl
replace string:
key 217 SEARCH WAKE_DROPPED
to
key 217 CAMERA WAKE_DROPPED
Reboot and voila

i have set gcam as main app for camera but everytime i tap two times on power button it opens the stock camera

Even I'm looking to do this. MIUI needs to fix this. Even on lockscreen swipe right , stock camera opens up. That also has to be changed.
Does anyone know a way to activate the picture in picture mode in YouTube while using full gesture navigation. I used to just hit the home button and it would automatically place the video in a small window in the corner of the screen. Now, in beta 3, there is no home button to push to activate it. Thanks
Is there a way Remap the buttoned for Google as it's not needed as you can old the white dot on screen down for the same result.
Just did a quick Google search. There are a number of remap apps available for doing this. The one featured in xda is called assistant remap or something similar.

I used button remapper app (or button remapper pro)
and it works great
you have to first disAble the "Google Asssitant Button" from settings
then run the button remapper app
in my cases it asked me to ad some adb permissions via an app tool
but it is working great
now I have
double click - camera opens
single click - take a picture

I was actually going to ask if it could become the camera button. Something perfect on the Lumia's that im surprised never took off on Droid phones.
