Whats with the lack of custom ROMs? - Realme 3 Pro Questions & Answers

Is it a community problem, like lack of popularity? or the bootloader is completely blocked and you can't flash anything?

They had posted a unlock method while back on their forums, but took it down shortly after because many people bricked their devices in the process.
So for now there is no way to unlock the bootloader until they post the updated apk or a new method.

I'm just wondering, how some guys have unlocked BL as well as flashed custom recovery without getting bricked
This means there's a way to do it correctly. It would be great if someone shares it.

As I mentioned before, the method posted by them was up for quite some time which allowed many users to unlock their bootloaders, some got away with it while others bricked their devices. There's no other way other than one posted by Realme.

Ok thanks for clearing things :good:

It honestly is demoralising to see that the Redmi Note 7 Pro, which was released only two months before the Realme 3 Pro, now has so many official ROMs that the owner is spoiled for choice. I've started regretting my decision to choose this phone. It doesn't help that Realme is releasing new phones akin to a rabbit giving birth to offspring. I'm seriously worried whether the potentially massive portfolio of various Realme phones will hinder custom ROM development. Hardly half-a-year of usage and I'm already starting to get bored of ColorOS 6.

{tried} failed new to lg bootloader (have looked)

hey all, new to lg bootloader unlock, not soo much on other devices, my personal fav. (hero) one of my 1st. anyway, i have read 4 dif ways of unlocking the bootloader, and some i rtied and some i did not (yet) try due to being kindah scared. plz inform me which is the best way and is there something i missed, i have looked around all day and really.... there has to be a better way. (1) chinese method {http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2439667 / http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2553547} allthou i have found many links this one explains it the best due to its simplicity, 2 the whacked out method {http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2277639} this i wasnt ready to try yet as i work 18 hours a day and i need to get up at 5 tomorow. amen to the working men. 3 + 4 were just stupid sounding so ill avoid them but the 2 main ones were posted by many people in many fasions. #1 i tried says my phone is rooted when checking is root checker, but its not really because a. i cannot run apps which require root and b. how could i be if my bootloader is not unlocked. im tired and drunk from all this after work work.... plz someone point me twords an easier way to do this. and if there isnt any since march 2013 then at least tell me that #2 will work if i do it right. ty
ps. this is not a question but a demand and sorry for the grammer havent been in the us in ages.
First, wrong section. This should be in questions or general section.
Second, there's a chance LG really did lock more recent users out of their bootloaders. Possibly with a OTA update, or just manufactured that way. It's not a process others would hold your hand through, and it's beyond frustrating to even help when also being stuck on a locked bootloader as well
The unlocked users have tried to the best of their ability to explain what the process is, and it's been reposted over and over and over so now it's a whole big mess and it's really confusing. The oldest guides worked best and proved to help out more users.
All I can say at this point is good luck, hope you figure it out because everyone else is just as stuck at this as you are.

Q: rooting Huawei G535-L11 (kestrel from EE)

hi, is there a way of rooting this phone, i've tried all rooting methods (one click , Vroot , framaroot, SRS, etc....) no luck, any suggestions from our XDA devs here ??
I am super disapointed with the lack of interest form the modding community. Kestrel beats MotoG in multiple areas and is a cracking piece of HW. My daily driver now (left my Note 3 as a backup device)
WIth Android 4.2 and Snapdragon 400 onboard, device is plenty fast, I would just like to get CM11 on it for the sake of a pure experience.
I guess rooting is becoming less and less of interest and OEMs doing a better job at developing their SW...

Thanks mate, I appreciate Huawei may have played the bad guys and made it tougher to root. I am having a hard time understanding why a pure consumer product like this one is locked so tightly by the OEM... It's not like they are trying to attack the entreprise market, next thing you know they will add a Knox like mechanism

i'm sure one of our devs here will come up with the root just to prove them wrong, i understand its a new phone branded as EE kestrel ,just about 1 month since its launch, i mean Huawei were quite good , supply the code to unlock the bootloader. i wish there was an old fashion way to root it, all these super one click methods don't hack it.
All we need is: Root file + recovery file :highfive:

this will root any devices, as long if your bootloader is unlocked, i didn't encounter any problems with mine , i've unlocked the bootloader first and then install the tr (towelroot) apk on the phone, one click 20 seconds later ,its rooted, it worked on all sumsung galaxys, this is the new one click root that'll root any device that failed with all the others rooting methods.
hope this helps.

EE Kestrel is G535-L11 which is not listed in the link. I also emailed Huawei and have waited for three weeks and have not had any responses.

what custom roms, there aren't any custom roms for the kestrel , not yet.
1- you'll need a custom recovery ( they haven't made one yet )
if you've found one that works with the kestrel , post the link
don't go flashing roms that aren't for your phone, you'll end up with a brick
Unlock bootloader : Check but the fastboot format all data
Root : Check
Go for recovery ....

In order to install a custom ROM, you must first unlock your bootloader. There is a version of CM11 in development for the HAM2 that everyone is waiting for with baited breath. If you unlock your bootloader now, you will be able to install this custom CM11 ROM once it is released.

Thanks for clarification. Is the available custom ROM still on 4.3 or KItkat or Lollypop?
Also does the device have to be boot unlocked if I have a consumer cellular version and want to flash the factory unlocked flash on it?

CM11 is based on Kit Kat 4.4. There should be a CM12 ROM later on, which is based on Lollipop 5.0. You must have root access and an unlocked bootloader to install any custom ROM, regardless of where you purchased the phone.
I'm not sure who was the first to post the information about emailing Huawei and getting an unlock code. Who ever it was, thank you. It was an extremely easy process. I emailed them my IMEI and S/N, and i got an email back with my unlock code the next day.
This forum is great
Also thank you to whomever is working on the CM 11 and CM 12 roms.
Can't wait to fool around with new roms, even though the stock rom is actually incredibly stable, and smooth, and i pretty much have no complaints about it.

Some tips from other users have been to send it around the evening EST (if you're in America at least) and just keep doing it until they reply.
It sucks that you have to email them but at least they do give out the codes.

Ive been trying to get a response from them. Its been 2 weeks now i think and havent heard from them. Ive sent like 10 emails already. Im closing to giving up and sell this phone. Ill give them about 2 more weeks.
You are lucky it only took you 3 emails before u get a reply.
First right now is Chinese holiday season, so their response maybe slow.
2nd, check the other thread, 'progress of rooting', right now there is a new method to use fake prod id to retrieve code from their website directly.

I have sent Huawei several requests for onlock bootliader but no luck this far. I have question tho. Us first step unlock bootliader. Then, us second step to down load Clockwork to achieve root so can then obtain newer rom when available ? Please clarify what steps one does to complete the cyke if rooting. Thank you

Can the Moto Z be rooted?

Motorola came out with a phone called Moto X Pure Edition where it could easily be unlocked.
Does anyone know if the Moto Z can be rooted or the Moto Z Force? I'm hoping so, because I thought this was the successor to the Moto X Pure Edition which was easily rooted.
If it can't be rooted will the unlocked versions that come out in the fall be rootable? and will they work on Verizon Wireless on all their bands?
Thanks!
This is all that I have found http://www.droid-life.com/2016/06/09/unlocked-moto-z-will-gsm/
If they really make that kind of a move, then that's the last nail in the coffin for Motorola, I kissed Samsung Galaxy phones away for the same reason, no root, no boot loader unlock, will not ever buy their phones until they make them rootable.
So I guess the next best phone on the market is a Nexus?
Though if the Moto phone's bootloader is locked but it can be rooted then I'll buy it, but root is the most important feature to me.
one plus 3 imo is the comparable phone to the moto z. still waiting to see what the 2016 nexus lineup will be. but I am with you, I am a die hard moto fan because of thei open eco system, if the lock it, good bye moto... may go op3
From the linked article..
According to Motorola, when asked if the Moto Z would be unlocked and work on all carriers, like last year’s Pure Edition, they responded to us by saying that the unlocked Moto Z will be “available on GSM networks starting September.”

If that quote from Motorola is verbatim, then my reading comprehension says they didn't answer the question at all.
I don't know for sure of course, but I would be surprised if the non-Verizon version of the phone does not work on CDMA.

I never bought a new phone on its release date, all my other phones have been out for a while when I got one so Root, ROMS and other stuff were always out there. So as your say if and when root does come out for this phone, it will be a hot thread. Thats cool, with some of the reviews I've read, I didn't think this was a popular phone. I think mine runs great but its painfully stock.
I'm thinking about this:
Since Moto Z's BootLoader can be unlocked (I'v tried), why there is no TWRP for moto Z.
Once we get TWRP, we get root, right?

1. Moto Z's bootloader cannot be unlocked at this time. The option in dev options is not the one to go by
2. TWRP and root have nothing to do with each other. But yes.. most likely if and when the bootloader can be unlocked, one should be able to install supersu and root the phone.
I bought an international version of the Moto Z and was able to unlock my bootloader.
How do I go about rooting my phone from here? There are no custom loaders or ROMs available.

This is a little beyond my current technical expertise.
Am I supposed to be compiling this on the device itself? The directions give me the impression that it would need CM or Omni installed already to compile this. Also it seems like I would already need root access on the device to be able to port it. Doesn't that create a chicken/egg problem?

I believe you can do this emulated from a computer. But since no one that I know of has an unlocked bootloader you are the only one who can test that it's working properly. Or wait for others who get the international version to do it. Since most of the people on here at the current time are on Verizon asking us is futile. I will say that I am working on a unlock method but until that is successful I will not be looking into TWRP.
Take Care.

Question Xperia 5 IV Model Decision - XQ-CQ54 vs XQ-CQ72

As someone living in the USA and using T-Mobile as a provider, is there a significant difference between the XQ-CQ54 and XQ-CQ72 models? If so, which one should I go with?
I will not be using the XQ-CQ62 (US version) because the bootloader cannot be unlocked and I would like to use a custom ROM.
You can unlock the bootloader on 62 but it cost about 20 bucks..its a recent hack ... Xda isnt allowing guides with money involved so that's why theres none posted here.
Other then that i think 54 version aka european is way better then chinese 72. Just for esim alone

Would you be able to provide a link to the service or at least a name for the website? I'd like to try that one but I'd also like to not download a virus.
I havent tried it but there are reports of it being a legit thing. I ll send you a pm so you can look into that thread.

would love to hear about your experience with the tool
I have the US version and found out the hard way that its bootloader can't be unlocked. I've always had a rooted phone, BUT I would say this phone has everything that I want and need. And Android 13 now has features that I used root phones to get. On the flip side, I have seen people that have the 1 iv US version and they've used the mentioned tool, and were able to change the no to a yes. As long as Sony keeps pumping out updates, I'm good for now on stock, but I may revisit the tool if updates stop.

Don't post nonsense. Bootloader unlock is possible.

All that I was saying is that I may be open to trying the "workaround" to enable bootloader unlock on the US version later on. Please explain to me how that is nonsense. Or if you know of a way to change the no to a yes on these locked down versions, I'm all ears.

That's a pretty direct statement which is made up of nonsense.
No to yes and unlocking the bootloader is possible. See the thread about the so-54c or check my posts.

That's all you needed to say. I was only verifying that I ran into the same situation. I'll check out your posts, and read up. I haven't had an Xperia in almost 10 years, so I'm getting caught up.
