Does LOS have these stock features yet? - Xiaomi Poco F1 Questions & Answers

Hi Guys,
Looking to switch to LOS official nightly (with gapps for the app store only and without root) from stock Mi ROM. I was wondering if it had the following stock features:
- Double tap screen to wake
- IR face unlock
- Call blocking
- Do the speakers sound the same and as loud as the stock ROM yet?
- Cameras work at least as well as with the stock ROM?
I want the least Google possible so not considering Pixel Experience. I might consider a custom kernel or unofficial build to get these features.
Thanks and any advice appreciated.

- Double tap screen to wake
yes
- IR face unlock
yes
- Call blocking
yes
- Do the speakers sound the same and as loud as the stock ROM yet?
not sure, but it's pretty loud
- Cameras work at least as well as with the stock ROM?
use gcam, it's better than both https://forum.xda-developers.com/poco-f1/themes/b-s-g-google-camera-port-developed-mi-8-t3843130

Awesome just what I needed to know, thank you!

Thank you bonuzzz and Valera1978. This OmniROM directly built from source is out of the box the smoothest and reactive ROM I've seen on the T-900, and it's also fully Open Source AOSP. I have been fortunate to run this version in alpha and beta over the past 4 or 5 days and I have not seen any extraordinary issues with the release., on the contrary it's the most reactive ROM currently existing for the T-900.
Note for v.2 - Be very patient in flashing v2, from that system format starts in TWRP until extraction kicks in there's currently a delay of up to 3 minutes
Just as under the SM-T900 cm11 tread, I have performed some functionality testing of the device and some extra features, they are shown below as working, not working or not tested. The functionality grid was developed based on weaknesses in earlier AOSP builds and ports for the large format Samsung Tab/Note Pro family:
- mtp - to activate go to Settings/About tablet/ and tap 8 times on Build number - The menu will now have Settings/{ } Developer options/ activated. Check mark USB debugging notify.
- adb
- External SD - working out of the box
- Ext4 SD card mounting on external SD card - Unfortunately, I don't have a free SD Card to test with, if someone is interested in performing the test and report back it would be great, but theoretically it should work
- USB OTG including USB storage
- Off-mode charging
- Encryption - failed restoration of encrypted backup data in TWRP 2.8.1.1, but this must be a TWRP issue - Encryption process in ROM takes about an hour to perform, if someone is interested in performing the test and report back it would be great, but theoretically it should work
-----------------------------------------
- Lid sensor
- IR blaster - I've used IR2.0
- OC settings - located in Settings/Performance/ if you swipe right between the grids a"power menu" is shown where a multitude of performance settings and information is available, most of them currently not used.
- Advanced reboot - to activate go to Settings/About tablet/ and tap 8 times on Build number - The menu will now have Settings/{ } Developer options/. Check mark Advanced reboot.
- Screen Rotation only seem to react if the app has a default setting. You can use the Set Orientation, or the Ultimate Rotation Control app to pick the rotation you desire.
-----------------------------------------
- Play Store
- Google Play movies download and playback
- Google Play streaming Movies & TV
- DRM - tested with Audible, Google Books and Amazon Kindle
-----------------------------------------
- Zona
- Popcorn Time - need upgrade to latest version 2.3 beta, includes built-in VPN and Chromecast support with subtitles, earlier version timed out
- YouTube 1080p playback - 1440p will work w. v5.9.0.12, but I believe this to be a false positive
- Netflix
-----------------------------------------
- Chromecast with #MirrorEnabler hack, allowing for screen cast
- MHL connector
- Miracast
-----------------------------------------
- Capacitive lights - I assume this is the backlights for the capacitive buttons
- Capacitive keys
- Home button - correct function performed
- Brightness manual + auto
- Vibrator
-----------------------------------------
- GPS lock and voice directed navigation
- WiFi both 2.4 GHz & 5 GHz are working
- Bluetooth
- Microphone
- Audio on both speakers
- Headphones
-----------------------------------------
- Camera - in progress the camera "works", but does not allow for single shots to be taken, and crashes in video mode, but panorama shots are working
- Torch as of v2
- Camera Sensors as of v2
-----------------------------------------
- Xposed Framework and modules - need re-initialization after each boot (common to all cm ROM's)
- Superuser - installation of SuperSU from TWRP is recommended - make sure to enter into SuperSU settings and execute "Install SuperSU backup script", under the CUSTOM ROM label, before re-flashing a ROM update.
- Hangouts Dialer phone calls via Hangouts
-----------------------------------------
All fixes are in progress and will hopefully be sorted out in the new upcoming release
The following are standard limitations and options for OmniROM:
Write access to your external SD-card works out of the box, but just in case i suggest to d/l JRummy's SD KitKat Fixer
init.d support also works out of the box, otherwise d/l Uni-init by Ryuinferno.
If you think to much heat is building up use Performance/Governor set to ondemand, or conservative and I/O Schedduler to bfq, in addition to increase battery time you can set Wi-Fi/Advanced/Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep/ to Only when plugged in and make sure the Wi-Fi/Advanced/Wi-Fi optimization/ is checked and reduce Display/Sleep/ to below 1 minute. You can also use some apps to improve battery eg Easy Battery Saver, or the more sophisticated AutoCon+ Save Battery & Data and and to put hanging apps to hibernation Greenify that I believe require Xposed Installer. To improve charging time, you can use an app eg Faster Charger. Finally, I have also used PurePerformances in order to further improve the performances and VIPER4AndroidFX to allow for louder speaker sound and enhanced listening experience.
new version is released. sensors are fixed. camera is not working yet
I have read about, and been curious about, omnirom for a long time now. I love this tab smt 900 but have not had a lot of luck with development so far. I am a tinkerer, i like to flash a rom, tweak to my satisfaction and run it for a long time. I will stay here for a few days to see if it gains speed and these issues are fixed. If so, it looks like a great daily driver. Currently running the cm build that @arcadia2uk helped with. THANK YOU ALL for your efforts and contributions so people like me can have so much fun. Looking forward to it.

Personally, I'm using XHaloFloatingWindow together with Floatifications and it works very well in landscape mode (I have not tried in portrait).

That is the exact setup I am using on the SM T900. XHalo and Floatifications. It is close to halo on PA. I am on the cm 11 ROM but I am confident the ROM is irrelevant as to functionality.
I'm a huge fan of OmniROM and very happy to have it on my T900.
I'm shocked this project hasn't gathered more interest, CM is becoming convoluted while Omni, strictly IMHO, is generally a lighter/cleaner ROM.

Good question... There is nothing to release. Onmi L is very unstable for this tab because it doesn't have support of exynos platform. I dont have enough time and patience to port everything to omni. So I recommend to take a look to CM11.

Man, I'm sorry to hear you say that.
I'm running Omni on my T900 and love it. Everything runs fine for me. The only problem I run into, frequently, is the sensor issue. Basically I can't get the screen-rotation working with any consistency. Every now and then I can play with display auto-rotate settings (disabling, running an app while in a certain orientation, then enabling auto-rotate again .. things like this) that will prompt a rotation. However, 95% of the time I can't get the screen to rotate.
Other than that, I have zero problems with your port to the T900. It would be great if you would stick it out, it's a great alternative to CM!
Thanks again!

I have been thinking about trying this OmniROM instead of CM12...the only thing holding me back is the lack of camera.

That is good news. From page 1 it states backlight & camera not working. In this case, will give it a test run. Sounds like fun & thanks!:good:
P.S. Isn't the T900 the SWEETEST tablet you have ever put your hands on?!?!?
Reporting back...
Hi,
I installed OmniROM and was immediately pleased with 1 thing in particular...OmniROM's brightness level (on the brightest level), seemed to be brighter than CM12. I liked the status bar mods (network in / out counters), date / time mods but would nice to be able to adjust colors indepently and also support theming. The camera works fine. I do have issues with auto rotation and hard keys backlight don't illuminate. Other than these 2 items, the ROM boots very fast, stable & responsive. Great job & will keep an eye out for updates. I am happy to be a test / data point and will be running OmniROM as my daily driver for the time being.
Kind Regards,

Any reason why T320 is not have this ROM? Its Snapdragon based so I would have thought it would be easier.
The camera stopped working for me or perhaps wasn't working fully before. Any chance on an update that will fix camera?
Appreciate it...

Appreciate the tip.
I actually went back to CM12 but miss a lot of things about OmniROM. I am rather surprised there are not more custom ROMs available in general for the Tab Pro 12.2" (SM-T900) [Beanstalk, Slim, PAC, etc.]. You would think there would be given the greatness of this tablet regarding size and performance. I keep patiently hoping and waiting with optimism.

[SHARE][ROM]{land} Cyanogenmod 13 with Nougat Design [2016/12/25]

First, I only share this rom from miui forum, to let you know about it and to tell you my experiences with this rom.
All credits go to O_dinochka from miui.com ->http://en.miui.com/thread-451310-1-1.html
So let's start:
He calls it a
CM14.1 MOD
in fact it is a CM13 rom from 21/12/2016 with Nougat theme preinstalled and Xposed Android N-ify.
So many people are asking for nougat roms the last days, so here you can get a little taste of nougat on a stable android 6.0 marshmallow base.
Bugs
Bugs that I experienced myself:
- goodix fingerprintsensor doesn't work ( I dont know about fpc, but I guess it works)
- long press volume button to skip tracks
- some overlay issue by starting the phone, when you have to enter your sim card pin (only sometimes, and its all functional)
Working
I'm running this now for more than 3 days, so thats my experience:
- Wifi
- mobile data
- phone calls (sound quality is good)
- Bluetooth
- IR Blaster
- photo and video recording works well (stock app, with sound working)
- Gesture or Knock knock unlock (via xposed)
- by the way: Xposed works well and is preinstalled
- CM Themes are working
- lowest screen brightness is really low, lower than on miui I think
- flashlight works
- battery is almost as good as miui ( I needed 25% battery for 13hours yesterday)
Screenshots & Downloads
MIUI Forum Link
Conclusion
So I have to say for a rom, which bases not on the released sources it works pretty well, I didnt expected that. I hope someone tries it to share their thoughts and experiences on this rom. for me it works pretty well as a daily driver, its sad that goodix fp doesnt work but for now I can live with that.
So excuse my bad english and enjoy flashing

And there are some people using this mod to fool people.

I can't open the image. error 404. I know that it's only CM13 but for me it's more important that this rom works very well, the nice looking is a plus
I know that you can edit the build.prop if this is in the screenshot, but I think that's not what it's about with this rom.

I don't even edited the build.prop, I just used an Xposed module to change the words
I think the battery on this is very good for custom rom 36 hours and 60% battery left for about 2 days more... It's almost as good as miui and I just run with the standard settings no optimizations

[Recommendations] Stable daily driver ROM for Mi 5

Hey guys, recently my father got tired of ****ty MIUI and wanted something better for his Mi 5. Since it's not my phone, I cannot test various ROMs and kernels by clean flashing them.
I just need one ROM that I can switch to on his phone from MIUI.
It needs to be 100% stable (he is sick of bugs), needs to have great calling and bluetooth connection, and great battery life.
Please let me know if such ROM exists for Mi 5, and which one is it
(Do you guys face any issues with bluetooth speakers or taking calls via bluetooth in car?)
You can start with jdcteam's aosp. Has been really solid for me.

I've been using LineageOS with 0 problems so far. But it does take some time to set it up that way. For instance, you need to flash the MIUI camera to improve camera performance, and under display calibration adjust the RGB values to 90% to prevent image retention (a problem on MIUI too).
I can confirm that Bluetooth works fine, calling is clear and battery life is good but not better/worse than MIUI. I haven't tried taking calls over a car's Bluetooth.
You should also check out the Xiaomi.eu weekly MIUI 9 builds as they usually fix what Xiaomi broke in their MIUI builds and are actually supported by Xiaomi.

Thank you for the recommendations guys. Are you using the stock kernel or any custom kernel like BB kernel, Nagatobimaru etc?
What is your opinion about AOSPA and RR ?

Nagatobimaru kernel has terrible battery life for me (like 1h30m SOT even though I was initially excited to try it out because it incorporates EAS). I use LOS stock freq kernel, which removes the underclock of the 32GB Mi5 from 1.8GHz to 2.15GHz but is otherwise just the stock LOS kernel. On this kernel I get between 3-4h30m SOT.
AFAIK LOS is the only ROM with display calibration and all the others have no way to fix the severe image retention which is my main reason for sticking with it. If it doesn't bother you or affect your unit then I can highly recommend AEX which seems to be the ROM 90% of the devs are on.

What do you mean by the image retention issue? And what have you calibrated? As far as I understand, you have just tweaked the RGB values of the screen. Can you tell me your values? I think the same thing can be done via Kernel Adiutor if you are on a kernel that supports KCAL. AFAIK, stock LOS kernel doesn't have it but most ROMs and all custom kernels have it.
What about AOSP by JDC team, it appears very stable with EAS?

Yes, it's the same problem - I am unaware whether this is a software or hardware problem, but you can correct it 100% with software. It looks like lightbleed right around the border of the phone and you can see ghosting of previus apps around the corners (especially on a grey background). It's easy to fix in LineageOS, but I've had trouble in every other ROM I tried so far.

It looks light an orange tinted lightbleed right around the borders of the display and some ghosting of previous apps are overlayed on the current app (especially visible on grey backgrounds). Check the attached image to see what mean, and this is only about 50% of how bad it can get if you don't adjust for it.
Yes I just tweaked the RGB values to 90% (anything more and you can still notice the effect).
I tried using Kernel Adiutor to fix this problem to no avail, using different ROM and kernel combinations. I never checked if the kernel supports KCAL specifically though.
It's been too long since I used JDC's ROM, but if I remember correctly it was stable and fast but lacked essential features at the time (music playback controls, lockscreen torch, display calibration settings). Their Oreo ROM is far ahead of Lineage 15 in in terms of stability though, not that it's DD ready.

Woah thanks for sharing this man, I didn't know about this, can you please share the screenshot of the settings you have made?
I have the same issue and I can't decide which ROM to flash. MIUI 8 is too laggy, MIUI 9 is faster but all apps crash randomly. I will unlock my phone tomorrow (after the stupid 72 hours waiting period) and I am hoping that this discussion will help us decide. Most probably it will be a choice between Xiaomi.eu or LOS.

As someone who recently used both Xiaomi.eu and LOS14.1 I might be able to clear that up.
Xiaomi.eu MIUI9 build is almost identical to MIUI 8. There are a few minor tweaks to the UI such as the task switcher which is now more immersive and the new icon pack. Settings are now more bundled together and ROM/System info is graphically displayed. Split screen multitasking seems to be the only new feature. I haven't experienced a single app crash, but the system animation speed was set way to fast by default and transition animations show tearing each time you switch apps. In short, it's fast but not smooth.
I switched back to LOS quite quickly. The only feature MIUI has that LOS doesn't is Dual Apps, and since I don't use that the choice was very simple. LOS is much smoother and faster, with minimal features on top of AOSP. I enjoy the additions, it doesn't feel bloated or barebones.
If you are going to use LOS, I recommend doing the following:
-If you have a 32GB Mi5, flash the LOS stock freq kernel
-Set the display calibration as per my previous posts
-Activate touch home button, always on fingerprint unlock
-Install Magisk
-Flash MIUI camera Magisk module + OISprop-Magisk
-Flash iYTBP Magisk module
-Flash unified hosts Adblock Magisk module (make sure to select systemless hosts in Magisk settings)
-Install Google camera HDR+
-Use Nova (paid) or Lawnchair (free) as the launcher
That should get you going and solve most if not all annoyances coming from MIUI. You'd be amazed with the quality of Google Camera HDR+! Just check the attached samples (they are all compressed due to Xda but you'll get the point).

Wow! that was very informative. Thanks a lot man :good: . And yes, I get the point about the photo samples are amazing.
I have the 32 GB version and I already purchased Nova Launcher and use no matter what. I will have to find the addons you mentioned as I have no idea what they do. It's the first time I install a custom ROM on my MI 5. One final question, do you have any thoughts on AOSP Extended?

I can add all the files you need to a dropbox folder and share the link if that would be easier? I find that the Mi5 is super easy to modify, you shouldn't worry too much. I'll add the firmware you need and GAPPS if that would help you transition.
Yes, AEX is a great ROM with many features. Most Devs seem to be on it (going by their discussions). I haven't found a way to fix my LCD issues on AEX yet, which is the main reason for not using it currently.

You need to run the apk after you flashed the magisk module and rebooted your phone to calibrate the OIS.

Yes and read OP please.
This ROM is awesome. It is pretty stable too. The boot logo is not very appealing. I will keep using it. No bug so far.

I have found one issue, with the phone app. When I try to call someone it doesn't show the call being forwarded,so you can't end the call. And When I am called I can't pick up since there is no prompt for accepting or rejecting call. A problem with the Google dialer maybe.

I ve been using it since last night. receiving texts emails and phone calls, its worth the effort . its a lovely rom.
The battery is pretty terrible, it cant charge while playing, it was draining while charhing so fast, i ofc did a clean install, camera app fails a lot as well, and you cant set every live wallpaper from pixel wallpaper changer it force closes.. i hope in the future you can fix these the rom felt smooth until i started playing games and noticed it wasnt charging while playing..
Hi Dev.
I wiped my data and installed your rom. Everything was perfect. But the galaxy wearable app was force closing.
Could you please help me to solve this problem.
Best regards

Wait what XD. Never experienced this bug. Maybe a charging cable issue? Also, there are two cameras included. GCam isn't as stable as stock by a long shot, so use stock if GCam crashes too much.
Also abt Gear Wearable. Since I extensively debloated this ROM, it is possible I removed something that I shouldn't have. Not to worry, I will release an update next month (Not now because of exams)

Im back on my old 9.0 rom and everything is working just fine, i dont know what the issue was here, but ill check the update when its ready thanks!
Please add Adapt Sound feature if possible in a future build.
Fast, smooth and stable rom. But it has really bad battery usage. The older one(teampixel oreo) vas great at battery usage.
Also i can't find the "Power saving mode". There is no toggle in notification bar and i cant find a way to enable it in settings menu. Anyyone know is it possible to use Power saving mode on this rom?

Hello! The reason battery life was significantly better on Oreo was due to Oreo having a fully working Phantom Kernel! At this point, I'm just waiting for an update to that kernel, so that I can incorporate it, into the ROM, along with adapt sound, Dual Messenger, Gear 360 bug fix and Screen Write (Samsung Capture) since that it the only "useful" Note Feature that can't just be simply added back. I'll also be incorporating a few tweaks here and there to improve performance where possible! Keep an eye out for V1.1

Any other way to use MIUI EU rom specific application.

Hey guys good evening,
Hope you doing well,
I have a question for you guys. I just wanna know is there anyway to use MIUI rom -"camera, gallery and dialer apps"- in any other custom rom like awaken, pixel experience, evolution, havoc. I am asking this because I wanna use custom rom but i like miui camera, gallery and dialer application. I don't like any other camera, gallery and dialer. I hope everyone is understanding what I am trying to say.
- Camera because it has very good features and in custom rom some didn't work properly.
- Gallery app because it has photo editing option and we don't need to install other apps separately.
- Dialer because it has call recording option (specially automatically and without recording announcement)

I used a lot of AOSP roms on several Xiaomi and saw only 2 ports of MIUI camera with limited functions. (seems difficult to incorporate it perfectly).
You can use Gcam, ANX etc. which work relatively well or even better for certain models.
Some AOSP (vanilla version where you can choose the gapps or possibly delete the google dialer before flashing them) have the call recorder certainly with a more austere interface but a matter of taste.
