Recently a new update was rolled out for honor 8x India version.
the version number being 9.0.1.172(C675E4R1P1).
This cause my phone to become unstable, and simple things like camera were not working, there were random snoozes and sometimes the home launcher would not load, or the apps drawer appeared to be empty. i was using the stock home launcher.
Well a factory reset fixed the problem.
hope this helps someone else facing the same problem, also there was a mention in one of the previous updates, to not use third party launchers. Don't use third party launchers, if you are already using then uninstall before any update then reinstall after the update.

Same thing happening with me since yesterday

Is there somewhere I need to switch on notifications for application updates as they become available? Had this on my htc magic without changing any settings, and the hero manual mentions it, but at the moment they only way I find out about available updates is by going to the downloaded apps list.
i have same problem
same issue, its really weird
I have same issue, on both stock 2.73 ROM and Modaco 2.9. The 'show updates for installed applications' is selected but nothing is ever shown. If I go into 'My Downloads' there's often quite a few need updating....
maybe its a problem with the roms ur using try updating or using a stock rom
i always thought that this is the way it should be. i never got any notifications about updates for market apps.
I have a stock ROM and I do not get notfications of updates even though it's turned on.
Same here, no notifications. Perhaps this is a feature that will work with the new market version?
We might have to check with phones running the 1.6 update, that one has the new market right? See if that gives any notifications.
Hi,
My Xperia Z ultra was working fine until 3 hours ago. There were few updates from googleplay, authorised, left in charge, came back 2 hours ago and it has been freezing , shutting and restarting continuously, it freezes the UI , xperia home app and evertything else.
I use it for business and it doing my head.
thank you for your help.
Ok that is weird. My friend just asked me regarding her Xperia Z Ultra. It has the same symptoms as the one you described, and it also happened since 1-2 days ago, when she left the phone on charge, and it updates some applications on google play. I already tried uninstalling some apps to no avail. Removing the SD card lets you navigate your phone longer, but when you try to launch ANY apps (including the option to factory reset your phone) it will immediately freeze, and restart. I might try installing custom ROM in this thing...
Solved
Hi, being for business and out of desperation I have hard reset it. It wasn't easy as it would freeze before I could press the relevant button. What I have done is let the phablet battery die, recharge it completely on off mode, turn it on, follow the link for the reset option, and it worked! It took another 3/4 hours to reinstall everything but so far so good, I hope it helps
got same problem within 2 days,i have two xperia and always hang & restart...any solution ??
Another instance...
I updated 48 apps today on the Google Play Store (i've disabled auto update) and i'm now in a bootloop as well...
I guess it's on of the Sony or Google apps that had an update that would cause this?
I think the issue is related to Xperia Home, will switch to default launcher and check.
Got same problem. Short story: did the factory reset, issue slowed down a bit but still present, now I'm downloading the same stock rom via flash tool and after flashing see if the problem stopped...
same Problem to me. did the factory reset by companion and it worked for two days, no started again with the restart loop and freezing continously... any Infos from Sony...?
I just called the Xperia Support. It is just a Facebook problem. Simply deinstall Facebook app and your mobile will work again without any problems. Facebook has been informed about the issue. when the problem will be solved by Facebook is unknown...
I have C6833 and same symptoms. When I check Sony Diagnoistics app it shows Instagram caused system freeze/crash.
Instagram freezes mobile and then it restarts. Something like overheat protection inside forcing a restart after app freeze.
Also Facebook app crashed when you just start and flashes multiple times.
Those two apps updated by Facebook and I believe some compatibility issue.
Found older version of Facebook from apkmirror and installed.
Now Facebook & Instagram not crashing, mobile not restarting.
JFYI version from June 14th.

Update: I flashed the same stock rom with flashtool and everything is ok now.... It looks like the rom corrupted somehow and the factory reset didn't helped completely...
I also noticed it is caused by the latest Facebook update. Just check the latest reviews now on the play store...
Removed Facebook app (luckily also not part of ROM). Phone now stable and 24/7/365 50% CPU usage dropped to around 20%. The last Facebook update is very bad... Not going to use it anymore on my Ultra... Facebook is now blacklisted for my Z.
Second update: facebook worked for 2 days and again stopped working, messenger constantly showing one unread message which I opened 100 times, but the number notification on icon is still present. Also sometimes a random app freezes, phone looses touch and reboots after some time... Looks like something in hardware is slowly diying...
Solved
As some of you guys found out the culprit is the latest update from FB. After uninstalled it everything is fine .
Thank you for your input.
Hello all,
Is there anyone else having issues where Snapchat camera preview freezes after moving around for a few seconds??
Then when you reopen it just happens again.
FIX: plug in your XZ1 into your PC and run software repair using Xperia Companion (WARNING: This will delete everything in internal storage so back up your important data on to your SD card first). This will also update your phone to the latest build if you haven't been able to get OTA updates.
UPDATE: I contacted Sony Mobile support and I was told to verify that each of the apps were properly updated. After I did, the contact support representative simply informed me that these apps might just not be compatible with the XZ1 camera. Please take note of this before purchasing. The apps that crash for me (sometimes it works correctly but after opening and reopening these apps a few times, they start to get sluggish then crash) are Snapchat, Bitstream, Streamlabs, etc. I would assume then any 3rd party camera app would encounter the same issue.
EDIT: Finally a more informed answer was given after I stated I would let people know about this issue on a forum.
"We are sorry to know about the multiple camera apps inconvenient you are experiencing with your Xperia™ XZ1 and we want you to know that we care about our customers' satisfaction, for that reason the best resolution to your issue will be provided.
As per your concern, It is due to the fact that the code snippet (API) that was used by apps such as Snapchat, to take pictures, is obsolete. The new API will be communicated to partners and will require implementation on the partner side (third party applications developers). While Sony Xperia™ always moves away from obsolete code when programming their own software we want to provide our customers a resolution to any inquiry.
Thus with the information supplied, we can advise that the camera performance is based on the default third party application, you would be required to download an alternative application and try to take pictures from other apps.
We suggest having a look on the Play store, try looking up Facebook, Instagram on periscope or zoom fx, from what I am aware they allow camera usage on apps.
Please take into account that the main solution to these kind of inconvinients are related to regular applications updates since Sony Xperia does not pick up adjustments that are done by using obsolete code. Which means that looking for a Snapchat, bitstream, streamlabs update on your Play Store should permanently solve the issue.
In addition it is important to remember that a software update brings the latest functionality and enhancements in order to ensure optimal performance on your device, since your Xperia's factory release android operative system version is 8.0 and is the lastest may be the apps are not updated to be used with this Android version."
- Sony Customer Support
This is all well and good but what if - as in my case - the app that is continually crashing and causes auto restart, is sony's own software? The software shipped with the device is the problem with my device.
I'm going to try doing a refresh of my XZ1; it's a hassle but I'm not sure if anyone else is experiencing my issue also. You should try as well. Perhaps it will fix your issue. I'll update this weekend
i am having same issue and I keep checking manually to see if there is any update to fix it and to make sure my apps are uptodate... I just don't know why did I get this phone over my beloved Xiaomi Mi5 which was much much better than this uncooked oreo device

Hi,
my dad has Redmi Note 3 since several months. Everything was working good, but since about two months he can't see anything in Recent Apps. For example, he browse something with Chrome, minimize it with Home button, go to Facebook and minimize it. He should have both Chrome and Facebook in recent apps, but there's nothing there. The problem started without doing any updates or installing new software. His phone works on Android 6.0.1 MMB29M and MIUI 10.2.1.0. Have you got any ideas how to fix it? Preferably, without wiping data...
Regards

Install android 9 or 10 and u will see everything in recents.
Does restarting device fixes this issue? If it does not then check for update if available which is less likely but give it a try.
Does this happen with any specific set of apps or with all apps?
Make sure there is enough memory available to system to run normally, mostly 500 MB is needed but if possible keep more than that.
Check background process limit in developers options, it should have been set to standard limit if not then set it and check.
If non of this works then flash any stable ROM, i would highly suggest to flash any stable ROM of 9 or 10(10 ROMs has some bugs but 9 ROMs are pretty stable). do backup everything before flashing if you choose to.
Hi all,
I hope someone is still around here...
In the past weeks I started to have a very annoying issue with my phone, hopefully someone can help.
I have a Honor9, with Android 9, EMUI 9.1.0, all stock, no root, no custom image, nothing.
Since a couple of weeks, all widgets are stuck. They work for a few hours after rebooting the phone, but after that, they stop updating and some of them is not responding at all.
Transparent clock updates time and day, but weather is not updated. Calendar is not responding and not updated. Even the settings widget is not updating the icons any more. All other widgets are stuck at the last update or on a "updating". I have tried to stop the applications but they don't restart.
I can't recall any particular update before the issue started, unless the automatic update of applications update from google store. I have tried also to reinstall a couple of widgets but they don't work -what is interesting is that they don't work straight away even after reinstalling, meaning that something in the system is triggered and keeps them blocked. Also, adding new widgets once the issue is present doesn't work, they don't show up on the screen, but they appear all together next time the phone reboots, supporting the idea that something in the system is keeping all widgets locked.
It doesn't look like the usual battery saving settings, all widgets were fine and I can't see anything different in the power saving settings.
Before I wipe out the phone and restart from scratch, does anyone has any idea of what I could try?
Thanks!
