Boot up problem. White screen on Acer Z410 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone;
I was trying to load a CM recovery file on my cell by using SP Flash tools and somehow bricked my Acer Z410 phone (carrier: Fido, 2 sim card slot) I do not know why afterwards, the cell turns white with a yellow strip down the middle. I have been able to have my computer recognize it after numerous attempts to flash firmware versions that I was not quite sure was the original. I had tried your site to load the firmware that seem to correlate to my cell configurations, but all of the links are dead. I ended up flashing with SP Flash tools firware version AVOKO 1.015, but it still can't boot in to see anything on cell. So as of today, I got my computer to recognize the phone and I can actually see the files on my phone and sd card inside. How can I boot into this puppy? I have tried within ABS and the command function to view adb devices, but it does not show up? I get an error : device 0123456789ABCDEF Unauthorized. In my device manager it shows up as ACER phone , and under the Ports section it does show Mediatek Preloader USB VCOM driver (COM 5). I hope I have given enough information to start diagnosing the problem.
Any suggestions how to go about this problem from here?

your not the only one with this problem i have it too with same mt6575 someone help please
Need to uninstall device and reinstall drivers
If you google, "Code 10", you will find that on a Windows system it is an error code generated by the Device Manager "because it can not start a device". In a nut shell, the most likely cause for this is because the device was not properly installed with the right drivers.
If you are running Windows, you can try to use the attached file called USBReview to see what device that is as you know it is your phone. Basically, with this program you can remove all the old drivers and start all the driver installation again.
Try to find your phone either here on xda, on the web or contact your phone's manufacturer - you need drivers!!!
Good luck, Mr. Phelps.

Your USB program does give a lot of information I have never seen before, but I still haven't been able to figure out how to get the driver to load.
thanks, John
I'm having the same problem installing the MT6575 USB VCOM drivers. Is there a workaround to get this installed? I"m using WIN 6 64bit

This is what worked for me after lot of experimenting and searching:
- get MTK6575 drivers (for instance from Bruno Martins where he writes about flashing mtk6575 - google: MT6575 flashing tutorial bruno
- Start c/windows/system32/hdwwiz.exe (as admin)
- Click next
- Manually select hardware
- List all devices
- Select the driver (for example usb2ser_Win764.inf)
- from the List select "MediaTek Preloader USB VCOM Port"
(or you can install other drivers from the list if Preloader is not enough..)
On another computer I solved it by installing whole Android SDK, checked my android system and installed updated for SDK (approx. 2 GB) and it installed correct drivers automatically.
Also you can experiment with using another usb port..
Please write here if it helped.

Just ignore the error Code 10! Start the SPFlashtool and load the scatterfile, click on download and connect your switch off Phone with the computer. It will work fine.

Did you ever get this problem solved as I have the same issue with an MTK 6592 chip based phone?
I have the same problem too.
Installation of Media Tek preloaded drivers gives me Code 10 error.
Has anyone found the solution?
my phone is totally dead without power now after I tried to flash with SP Flash tool using correct ROM. I noticed in device manager that there is a CODE 10 error in mediatek preloader usb driver.. is this the culprit? my phone can no longer be detected now in SPFlash or MTK Droid tools... so hopeless... this is a brandnew phone I bought to be given as gift to my cousin...
I did it! I did it! I did it!
The solution is... we need not MediaTek USB VCOM (Android) (USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0005&MI_02), but PreLoader USB VCOM Port (USB\Vid_0e8d&Pid_2000) !
I have MTK6582 (KingSing S2), the host - WinXPx64.
It looks like my phone (and, maybe, other MTK devices too) have several engineering modes.
I have spent several hours trying to get working VID_0BB4&PID_0005&MI_02, which is exposed, if device is turned on while holding VOL- pressed. In this mode some strange factory mode with nonfunctional menu items is displayed on the screen. But to activate mode with Vid_0e8d&Pid_2000 some trickery is necessary.
Sometimes this USB interface starts repeatedly to appear and disappear every half-second in infinitive loop. I had such situation once, when connected turned off phone to USB cable with battery removed.
I just literally catched MT65xx Preloader by double clicking on it in windows device manager and pressing "install drivers" in it's properties. I have used Driver_Auto_Installer_v1.1236.00\SmartPhoneDriver\x64\Infs\usbvcom.inf from http://spflashtool.com/download/Driver_Auto_Installer_v1.1236.00.zip. DriverVer = 12/24/2011, 2.0000.0.0
After clicking "Read Back" in Flash Tool this insane loop stopped and program started to function as intended.
This interface could also appear once and for very short moment, if turned off phone (with battery inserted) is just connected to host. Also it could be seen again, if power button is pressed. If "Download" or "Read Back" is not pressed in advance in Flash Tool, than boot will continue after smaller than a second pause (if device is functional).
I don't know if running Install.bat (from archive I have given above) is necessary. It didn't installed driver when Vid_0e8d&Pid_2000 wasn't active, but, I guess, running it during short blinks would give the same effect.
Also, I don't know, if advice given in comment#6 in this thread four years ago would work. Maybe, the fault was in older version of driver (DriverVer=05/30/2011,1.1123.0).
Another reason could be that necessary USB interface disappears before windows manages to install driver for it for the first time. Possibly, only if "catched" in device manager, user could manually assign driver to it.
I've been struggling with my UMI Rome for days. It has/had the black screen problem, sometimes won't enter recovery mode, sometimes wouldn't allow charge, sometimes works just fine (yesterday). Last night i mistakenly cut off power during a battery recharge. -- today it has all the above problems (bricked) so I am trying doing a flashing again using the tutorials and tools on the Tehnotone.com site. Sintetix's reply above helps me at least have a better clue on what is going on. Wish me luck! BTW, I am using a Dell Windows 10 pc. (Results to be reported here.)

I tried what you said. It wouldn't install properly. It kept saying error (code 10) and showed in device management with a caution sign every time I installed the driver. I disabled the forced driver signature thingamabop but it still does it. I guess I'm screwed. Has anyone else fixed this?

[Q] Help Request for Bricked MT6575

Hi!
I have bricked a MT6575 Star B79 phone. I know that is a very old-fashioned platform, but maybe someone can help me anyway.
I flashed it many times in the past without issues, but this time something was wrong.
Before brick, it had REVO 4.0.4-SGS4 firmware working for many time. The phone became bricked trying to flash stock 4.0.3 firmware PULID_B79(三码电脑升级)-20120707.
Actual state of phone is: Battery charging ok on power-off; at power-on phone shows the first Android image and then shows a black screen (back-light on; no sound, no starting “video”). In this state (power-on), if I connect to PC, the Device Manager of Windows shows a “Linux storage drive” (or some like that) and other “/F” device.
I can boot in recovery mode by it is stock recovery (<3e> version) and shows “failed to mount /cache”.
Preloader seams connect OK to PC when phone is connected without battery. But apparently, SP Flashtool can’t write to the phone.
I tried to flash with different versions of SP Flashtool, many different ROMS but always I got the same result.
SPFT shows the flashing advance bars and the green circle, but apparently, file is not write to the phone. I tried to flash a cwm-recovery, SPFT showed ok but stock recovery stayed in the phone.
I tried by changing drivers, but resulting state was the same. I also tried by “test point” method by disassemble the phone, same result (all OK in SPFT but nothing changed in the phone).
It seems like internal memory of phone is in read-only mode…
Someone could help me with this issue?
I apologize because of my poor english.
Regards.

[help] Lenovo S6000L bricked (?)

Some wanker had posted wrong images for boot and recovery for S6000L. And since I'm a moron, i didn't take the files apart to check them.
Installing them bricked my tablet. So essentially I have no boot or recovery images on the device and was wondering if there's any way to revive it.
Tablet freezes if i start it in normal, fastboot or recovery modes, so that's out of the picture.
However, i think that "meta mode" still works (if indication of it working is displaying lenovo logo and having "meta mode" written on the bottom of the screen)
It's getting detected on "mediatek preloader usb vcom port" for a couple of seconds when connected to the PC, which means that i might be able to use adb to push a backup into the tablet (?)
Been scouring the internet for a while with no results. Is there, by any chance, anyone who can help me out?

M4 SS1060 Bricked / Help Please

Hi guys I'm a noobie at this Stuff... But I make my Struggle, even trying it
I have a M4tel model SS1060 from Telcel, the phone was Ok, just one day it freezed , I removed the battery and when I put it back to the phone it get sttucked at M4 logo
So, I found at the web that with SPflashtool I could make it boot up correctly again, loading again the correct ROM or FIRMWARE with it:
I was making this procedure on a laptop with Windows 8.1pro 64bits.
1.- I get the firmware from MTK page I found
2.- I installed the mtk VCOM preloader drivers succesfully
3.- Extracted the RAR file of the Firmware.
4.- Opened Flashtool, I selected the respective scatter.txt file for my device, put the icon on "Donwload Only".
5.- I unpluged the battery, and conect it via USB, the program started to send the file . After a few secconds a error ocurred saying that the PMT was wrong. So i Try it again a few times, even with other version of SPflashtool, and different firmwares for the M4 ss1060 (diferent mobile operators ROMs) without good results.
At this point the phone was in the same condition... I could boot it into recovery normaly, but when triyng to boot it up it keeps stucked at M4's Logo.
I found that this issue was supposed to be fixed setting the program on "Firmware Upgrade" instead of "Download Only". So I make the same process changing it to Firmware Upgrade.....
7.- The progam started succesfully, and loaded the file completly with no errors, after eight minutes the "ok " icon" was shown .
I unplugged the phone from the PC, insert the battery and nothing happened ANYTHING. I think that my mistake was to put "Firmware Upgrade".....
The phone keeps OFF I plug the Charger and it does not turns even the screen to Say "I'm Charging" I can't even get it into recovery mode, no logo screens. BUT.... When I plug the USB from the PC to the Phone I see that the Device Manager detects the phone with the Vcom Preloader of Mediatek.
So I tried to load the firmware again with SPflashtool on Download mode, the program send the file correctly, and it takes long as ten minutes showing the "OK" icon. But the phone keeps OFF, it makes nothing....
So I wonder If someone knows what to do, I was thinking on install a custom recovery, having on that the problem may be that I damaged the recovery of my phone making it unaviable to boot up. But I'm not shure, and I haven't found information about it.
I just knows that my phone has a MT6572 Chipset, I wonder if some one knows what to do.
Thanks.

pls help to unbrick device i cant get infro and cant reconized device to find rom for this
on cpu it name s905m-d
Bricked D905 also
I've got this same box. Stops at mbox logo at boot. No recovery. Did you ever find a fix? The link above is dead.
Tullyp
UPDATE FOR ANYONE WITH THIS BOX: This bricks because it is a "junk clone Chinese" box. Just as yours in your pictures, my board reads as a P201, but it is not. It is a p211 (p212). The original recovery also shows as a p201, but can't even wipe cache or data because it is a mismatch. I can not find anything to unbrick. Tried everything, but you can run Libreelec and Coreelec thru USB port. By putting in a "burn image" in SD slot. Will fail to burn but after a few seconds will boot from USB. ( Does this mean boatloader OK?) I will not give up. I'm waiting for a UART chip I ordered to connect via serial. Don't know what I'll find.
