LG-H932 unlocked with device unlock will not carrier unlock - Help - LG V30 Questions & Answers

I have a tmobile lg v30 that was unlocked with device unlock tool... used it for a year on att. Then I went to xfinity mobile with an Iphone. Put the v30 away for a month.
Was gonna give to my friend to use on tmobile. When you put a tmobile sim card in it will not connect to any network. Will not work with att sim now either. Tmobile says its carrier locked and they
cannot unlock it now. ????? Says I have to get the original carrier to unlock it... They are the original carrier. Device unlock "when you try Permanent unlock says" Unlock Failed Unlock Approved : Mobile device is permanently unlocked.
When you try Temp unlock it says Unlock Failed Unlock Approved : Mobile device is temporarily unlocked until 02-Aug-2019.
When you put tmobile sim in the apn is there but you cannot edit or add apn.
When your put any other sim in the apn is empty and you cannot add apn.
Phone is on Android version 7.1.2

If it's a T-Mobile H932 and you want to use it on T-Mobile, why does it need to be carrier unlocked?
If it won't work on T-Mobile, have T-Mobile repair it
It's not a carrier unlocking issue, at least if you want to use it on T-Mobile..

Because it’s not on an account now and T-Mobile says it needs to be network unlocked. Before they can add it back to their network.

T-Mobile H832 does NOT need to be carrier unlocked to work on T-Mobile, since it's a T-Mobile device.
If they are telling you that they're lying or they don't understand what you're asking. Maybe you confused them with unnecessary details about your attempt to carrier unlock it in the past.
Stop mentioning that to them and focus on it's T-Mobile device that needs to work on T-Mobile, period. And they need to replace it or repair it if it doesn't.
If some incompetent support person doesn't understand that, then go to another store or make another phone call.

Just to be crystal clear here,
are you sure about that? Is there something you're not telling us?
We ARE talking about T-Mobile H932 and not Puerto Rico H932, right? You BOUGHT it from T-Mobile, right?
If the answer is yes, it's T-Mobile H932, then this statement stands:
T-Mobile H832 does NOT need to be carrier unlocked to work on T-Mobile, since it's a T-Mobile device.
You need to find competent support person and do NOT mention anything about carrier unlocking to them... until the phone is working on T-Mobile with no problem.
THEN, you can ask them about carrier unlocking it to work on other carriers.

[Q] How to Force Sim Unlock Prompt

Hi there,
I rooted my phone. I've installed Cyanogenmod 7 and enjoyed it. However, it is SIM locked. I purchased an unlock code... but now I can't enter it.
This person had the same problem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1313393
Cyanogenmod does not prompt to unlock even with a foreign SIM card.
The solution was to revert to a stock firmware. Which is great... except for the fact that my phone's model number is:
i5500m.
It's the dreaded Canadian version. I can't find firmware for it anywhere. I've tried Check FUS:
Product Code: GT-I5500YKMVMC
No firmware info retrieved for given data.
Generally it seems like I only have two solutions... and one failure.
The first solution is to find a stock firmware for this phone. Or receive a backup from someone who has the stock firmware with Clockworkmod.
The second solution is to enter the unlock code without the prompt. Is there a way, an app, or a hack to do something like this?
My failure is to accept that there's no reverting. But I don't really want to do that.
Oh, and thank you for welcoming me into your forums. XDA Developers is a really amazing site. I've thanked it plenty of times for saving my ass.
Thanks for your time,
Sacrosaint.
Your answer may be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1149110
Look closely at the latest changelog and notice that point 12 states -
"Network: SIM lock messages will no longer be ignored. This may help people who have problems using SIM cards that require a PIN unlock."
Good luck

Thank you so much! I missed that update by only two days. I'm sure this will help many people.
I'll edit this post with my results once completed.
Thanks again!
Sacrosaint.
---------------------------------
Results:
So I updated the ROM. I did not do a data-wipe. I inserted a foreign SIM card. It says it's connected but I'm not getting any service... I don't believe it's unlocked, as I haven't entered a code yet.
Perhaps I should do a data-wipe and retry. I'll repost afterward.
---------------------------------
Potential Final Update:
Odd! I inserted a Rogers SIM card into my phone running CyanogenMod and although no unlock code appeared... it worked. Also known as: my phone is unlocked.
Some interesting thoughts concerning this:
My phone model is i5500m. It comes locked to Bell or Virgin Mobile in Canada.
Upon trying the bml5 unlock method, my code came up as "01234567." Others experiencing this problem concluded that the phone was hard locked.
However, it would appear that flashing this ROM effectively removed the SIM lock. That means that originally, the SIM lock was a part of the firmware. That is slightly scary. I wish I would have come to this conclusion earlier, however, as I paid a premium of $40 dollars to unlock it (at least I supported a local business.)
So: for i5500m or Canadian Samsung Galaxy 5 users to unlock their phones, they must simply root and flash a custom ROM. Originally mine was from Bell, and it has worked with a Rogers SIM card. I'll possibly update this tomorrow when I try the phone with a Koodo SIM.
Hope this helps someone out there.

Sacrosaint,
I have an unlocked GT-I5503YKAINU running baseband I5500LUYJP2 and ROM CyanogenMod-7.2.0-RC0-galaxy5-v1.9. I inserted a Virgin Mobile Canada SIM card and do not get Service. With a Rogers SIM card, I do get Service. I spoke to people at Virgin and they said it's because my phone doesn't support HSPA+. The reason it works with Rogers is because it supports GSM.
I'm wonder if there's a way to install the baseband firmware from GT-I5500YKMVMC and still use CyanogenMod-7.2.0-RC0-galaxy5-v1.9?

What the representative said was true.
Virgin is both HSPA+ and CDMA. The Galaxy 5 IS a GSM phone. Its radio will not work with other frequencies.
You will want to go with Bell, Rogers, Telus, Fido, or Koodo, the GSM suppliers, my friend.

Rooting and carrier locks/unlocking are completely separate things.
Your phone doesn't work with a T-Mobile SIM? T-Mo and MetroPCS are the same company and use the same network, and in theory, phones from one should work on the other without unlocking, or should be able to be unlocked by one or either of them.

[Q] Galaxy S3 i9300 Unlocked? or Locked?

I live in Jamaica and a friend brought me a Galaxy S3 i9300. the phone came with a SIM Card from "Simple Mobile"
Whenever i insert a local carrier's SIM inside the phone it asks for Unlock code... HOWEVER... if i insert an
AT&T or T-MOBILE or SPRINT or even THREE (Uk carrier) it doesnt ask for an unlock code.
Im guessing its not unlocked... but if its locked, which carrier is it locked to? and how do i go about finding out?
Sounds more like region lock than network lock.
I want to buy an unlock code but i need to know the carrier its locked to. How do i unlock this Galaxy S3

Unlocked still wint accept valid sim

I went from att to metro pcs i got the unlock code from att enterd it and phone says it worked but it still wont accept a valid sim from metroi get the mm6 code
Have you tried a non-ATT and non-Metro PCS sim?
Was the code the pac code or the network unlock code? Totally different codes that do totally different things... You need both.

Help! Not sure which phone I got from amazon! Factory unlocked or ATT or TMO?

I purchase a like-new condition Samsung Galaxy S9+ phone from Amazon Warehouse for international travel coming up in couple days. I figured I would have a better chance of getting an authentic phone from Amazon than from ebay sellers. I received the phone yesterday, and here is the situation with the phone:
- The box of the phone says "unlocked by Samsung"
- The sticker on the back of the phone has the model # SM-G965UZBAXAA and IMEI number of a factory unlocked phone
- The actual IMEI of the phone however shows model # SM-G965UZBAATT, which corresponds to the AT&T carrier locked phone
- When I turn on the phone, it shows T-mobile screen and has T-mobile apps on it
How do I determine whether this is a AT&T phone, or a T-mobile phone or something else? Unfortunately, I do not have either TMO or ATT sim cards that I can use to check which network the phone works on. How do I know whether this phone is unlocked and if it is will work internationally? I am not sure how to explain the imei of the phone coming up with ATT model number, yet the phone shows TMO screen.
Please help as I need to get this resolved today, and don't have time to purchase another phone. Thanks much in advance!!

put any sim in it and it should work these phones are multi carrier means all the us models are the same if its att imei id say its unlocked since obviously last used was t mobile but if you put any sim in it other than att it should accept it and not say unnsuported sim and or ask for unlock code
to further this as i said the us models are all the same. They have a file called CSC which determines carrier based settings you can put in a tmobile sim and it will repersonalize for tmobile then swap to att and att will show up..
Its the way of the future and actually quite nice as one firmware pretty much covers all carriers other than specific user data which is that carriers apps
it may be unlocked obviously the listing was wrong but xaa is factory unlocked for sims, You can reflash xaa if it is unlocked for non carrier branding,But id put any sim in and see

Thanks for your response. So if the previous owner put a T-mobile sim in the AT&T phone, then would it show the T-mobile screen at startup, and also have the T-mobile branded apps?

Thanks again! Is it safe for me to do a factory reset on the phone? I wasn't sure if it was rooted and whether a factory reset might brick it. If I do a factory reset, what would it restore to - the AT&T or TMO configuration, or something else?

I downloaded the phoneinfo app, and here it what it shows:
Firmware's CSC code: XAA
Active CSC code: TMB
IMEI check shows model ending in: ATT
That made me highly confused as to whether this was a AT&T phone, a T-mobile phone or whether it was originally sold as factory unlocked.

Under Service Provider SW ver., it shows TMB/XAA/ATT
I am trying to understand what this means, why would it show TMB, XAA and ATT? Does it mean the phone was originally AT&T, then someone installed XAA firmware on it and used it on T-mobile. If that is true, is there a way for me to verify whether the current installed firmware is XAA?

That is correct. You see it now. The third csc code is the original device. The second is what csc you have running. And the first is or was sim inserted.
Look in settings about phone and software info. At the bottom somewhere it should show you

Yes, what I pasted above is from about phone->software info. It shows the service provider sw version as TMB/XAA/ATT. Thank you!!
