Can't Upgrade To EMUI 9.1 OTA Broken - Huawei Mate 20 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi Guys,
Firstly I have 9.0.0.275 installed and when I tried to install EMUI 9.1.0.306 it does not allow me to, I'm using the hstool to do it and I keep getting an error message of there is no recovery package supported and furthermore, I can no longer get any OTA at all even with the hicare method

Try to downgrade, To downgrade to your original firmware just turn your phone off, plug the charger, press volume up and power till you feel the vibration, release power while keep pressing volume up till you go to erecovery, from there download the latest recovery and firmware by connecting to wifi.

@Zenns You'll have to get back to an approved base which is getting OTA for your actual cust and preload region.

So, as you are still with C636's cust and preload:
Just get back to C636's OTA track by flashing an approved LYA base 9.0.0.267. To do this, use a patched hisuite and custom DNS with following firmware link registered:
LYA-LGRP2-OVS 9.0.0.267

See what apps are running in the phone manager and if any are using abnormally high ram. After restarts does it go back to normal
downgrade to lp requires a rollback package ..
find and download rollback package of your model and flash it via dload
then flash full firmware of your model

nope.. rollback doesnt require locked bootloader.. but it will require emui recovery..
so you should first get emui recovery..then roll back , then firmware flash

I was hoping if anyone has a TWRP backup link for the latest EMUI version. I am currently on B130 and my phone model is L21. I tried to use this method https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-5x/help/request-kiw-l21-kiw-l21c432b340-twrp-t3483664/page3 but the link in it isnt working. [help] How can I upgrade kiw-l21c432b160 to android 6

I need to install Android 6, but I can't seem to find a firmware upgrade that matches my version exactly.
What version is safe to use? I'm completely new to the android world, so I'm completely lost…
The closest I've found is a file named "Honor 5X_Firmware_KIW-L21_Android 6.0.1_EMUI 4.0_C432B330CUSTC432D001_Denmark.zip" but according to the PDF included in it I should only be used with versions:
KIW-L21C432B130CUSTC432D005
KIW-L21C432B130CUSTC432D006
KIW-L21C432B140
KIW-L21C432B300CUSTC432D002
Mine is kiw-l21c432b160.
Is it safe to use this one? Do you have any idea where I might find a suitable .zip if not?
Thanks for the help

Did you try finding your firmware using firmware finder.?
I've given the full build number as it appears on the device (no CUSTxxx) suffix. Should I look somewhere else?
I'll check this firmware finder app once I have the opportunity.

Yes, now I'm starting to understand all these version numbers. My end goal is to install LineageOS, but I need MM first.
So now, I've switched back to Huawei eRecovery instead of TWRP, and tried two different firmwares (before B360 because apparently it prevents installing LineageOS), that were "validated with my IMEI". Settings>Update>Local>Reboot, installation starts I'm about to cry tears of joy and then around 15%, installation fails with no further details. I can then shutdown and reboot to my good ol' lollipop. Not sure what to do next...

I still have the same lollipop firmware my device was bought with. I don't think I have US variant. I brought it from (Amazon France)[https://www.amazon.fr/Honor-5X-Smar...d=1508409802&sr=8-2&keywords=huawei+honor+5x] and I am in France. The product title says it is unlocked but I had to do it myself.
I'll try your link as soon as I receive my SD card, because apparently it is required for this method. I still have this file from an older download, but was scared because a PDF file included in it mentioned it should be used with B140 and did not mention B160, but now that I've flashed a stock recovery meant for B140, this doesn't scare me anymore.
Thank you very much for taking the time to help a noob FOSS-enthusiast!

Downgrade from B201 to B136 Possible?

I own a Chinese AL00 Honor 9,B201 is so poor,so I am intending to downgrade to B136,or B155.However in FF the lowest version I can find for my phone is B190:crying:
I verified the B136 for AL10 with IMEI,miraculously it passed, saying the firmware I will install is AL00C00B136.But when I finish the DNS changing I found I still only can get AL10C00B136.
Any idea on this issue is appreciated

It depends on the service.

Perhaps you need the HWOTA Rebrand method to AL00,I guess.Maybe you can use the B123 Service Repair Firmware but I AM NOT SURE
For the differences, they say that B201 underclock the CPU for better battery usage(ironically I didn't feel any improvement),but B123 and B136 aren't.I don't know about B155.So if you are a heavy gamer B201 may be a nightmare What's more B201 is in conflict with several Apps so they will evaporate into thin air after reboot...
Do notice that package for AL00 and AL10 are exactly the same. And the model number will be unchanged even flashing the AL10 firmware.I tested myself downgrading. And don't forget to wipe data.

The B201 files is on FF with number"88860"or"88861".It is under model STFAL10C00.There are 3 files to be renamed after downloading. Then the firmware change should work technically.

I know this is about capacitive button fix but it should be exactly what you want.It contained the service Repair Firmware and a oeminfo_tool batch file which seems able to write oeminfo to CN and flash stock rec.It is also easier to use the 3-button-combo.

It is not that important due to the fact that AL00 and AL10 can use the same firmwares.I tried this method before and the model number did change to AL10 but nothing gets wrong. That time I didn't fully complete the guide.Seeing inside the package are separate folders of AL00 and AL10 I guess If the installation is done properly the model might not get wrong
Good luck!

HELP TO UPDATE MY MATE 20 PRO (c212)

Hi, i have a mate 20 pro model c212 (at&t mexico), i want to install a new firmware for example c62 or c432, i can? or not? Pleas help me!
You could update main base easily, but that could screw the futur C212 stock OTA Updates if the new base version number you re flashing is not or won t be an official C212 base version number.
What is the matter with your LYA C212 ?
-still on emui9.0 and you want emui9.1 ?
-security patches date too old on latest C212 ?

You could use a service firmware to change cust, preload and base to a different region. I did this back and forth from C432 to C636 when I saw fit using the dload method.

dload will just skip the out-of-region cust and preload files ; only base will be applyed.

Hm, when I used FH a while back it switched me to C636 - and every OTA I received was C636 - I couldn't return to C432 via any method until I tried dload and it worked for me. It may be because my device is natively C432.
I still don t understand how these previous FH updates managed to softrebrand just fine kirin980 devices.
Your build number once rebranded, in about phones, was then C636ExRyPz or you were missing the RyPz part?

Included RP section, so it successfully rebranded, and then I managed to move back to C432 using dload.

Is it currently possible to do? For the bootloader issue, can you show me the guide you followed to flash?

There will be guides around on our device forum. But basically requirements:
USB Stick (formatted exFAT)
USB OTG
You will need to download the service firmware, for this I used androidhost ru and firmware 9.1.0.300 C432.
You will have 3 zip files inside the firmware, you must create a folder on the USB stick called 'dload' and inside this folder you put the three zip files (named like update_sd_base.zip etc). Plug USB stick into device with OTG adapter and then open dialer and type *#*#2846579#*#* and choose software upgrade then memory card upgrade. Should restart and upgrade device to your new firmware (don't unplug USB during this process and make sure you have above 30% battery)
I though he was speaking about how to softrebrand with FunkyHuawei...

Well if he was speaking about that then there's no guidance I can provide him. It's a paid service and doesn't really require a 'guide' as it's simple. He can check out their website, but regardless - if he wishes to try the dload method then there's there guide.

So just to clarify, you're saying that you can rebrand a Huawei devices Cust code from example a C432 to C185 without bootloader being unlocked?

I'm in the same predicament. Previous owner flashed the firmware from C792 (Canada) to C636 (Asia) via FunkyHuawei. And now I'm not getting any OTA updates and stuck on 9.0.0265. I would like to re-flash my fw back to c792 and I have the bootloader unlock code for my device, but I'm unable to find any guides to help me achieve this. Will the guide you provided work for me as well?
