I think it's just Quick Charge 3.0. You should buy the 27W charger imo. But i could be wrong
I have it, it does quick charge but not charge turbo
Good I stopped by XDA before purchasing it.
It does say if you scroll down on its specs it's a QC4 charger, but I assumed the described output would be a sum of both USB ports working simultaneously.
Already posted about it some weeks ago.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=79530777&postcount=73
It's indeed just a QC 4.0 charger. Will only do 18W.
Hi, I have one. For it to work properly you have to have the cable of more than 30w.
Load much faster than the original that comes in the box. I did a quick test from 75% to 100% with the phone turned off and charged in 25min; so you can assume if it's fast or not.
WTF ; does this phone even do QC4 ... the Xiaomi offical charger is 3.0 and I bought a $68 dollars Belkin QC : 4.0+ offical as per reviews and it caps out at. 3470 : it NEVER has said fast or TURBO and it ofen Ampere reports 1800 mah ? Can anyone explain this in any way
Do you really have to post the same thing in every single charger related topic ?

Thanks for info dude
I suspect that Turbo Charge only happens with the 27W factory charger.
Because my Hama QC4+ charger, certified by Qualcomm, charges definitely faster than the 18W charger found in the package, but does not say Charge Fast or even Charge Turbo.

Call me crazy but I think it will charge the device at 27W speed.
A lot of people don't seem to realize but the "Xiaomi Turbo Charger 27W" is actually QC3, not QC4+, and it does charge the device at 27W. If you find a QC4+ charger that supports 27W and up, you will still get 27W charging but you won't see "Charge Turbo" because it will use the better, newer charging standard.
This can make charge turbo QC 3.0 and it's cheaper and with more ports:

Yeah but it can only charge at standard QC3 speeds, aka 18W at max. 9V/2A like the original one does. But the original one can also do 12V/1.5A. So it does not "Turbo Charge".
Careful many poster here are confused. My BELKIN true QC4.0+ never ever charged over 3200mA and averaged out at under 2200mA. Posters who speak about things without testing their theories are really frustrating. Do yourself a favor don't believe this phone accepts QC4 or QC 4.0+ (at least not @July 2019) only QC 3.0 NON FAKE xiaomi 27w can do the 4600mA + it would seem. Turbo charging is required for extremely rapid charge times. Make sure you get OFFICIAL 20V 1.35A from Xiaomi for Turbo Charge sustained charge and under one hour 0--100%
I also purchased a QC 4.0+ Hama DC charger cause Xiaomi doesn't make a DC charger to my knowledge. Guess what ; 18w ish charging speeds .. no Fast or Turbo classification ...
XIAOMI Hoe do you call this phone a QC 4.0/4.0+ unit !!! Cause look close at the charger Turbo pictures they are all using the "Original QC 3.0 Xiaomi charger that we ALL should have got in the box. Instead many of us have wasted tonnes of money and time buying useless to us QC 4.0+ tech that doesn't work or WORSE fake chargers that don't do more than 18w !! By the time we we have ordered 3-4 different chargers trying to get it to work we have to order it on Ali or gearbest or Gearvita. Cause the company does make them after all!! Enjoy the brutal shipping fees and heavy wait times. Well we order this and that trying to get the darn thing to work. So annoyed right now
Hi, I got the original charger and this if it gives the turbocharged 27w charge, however the baseus charger charges the same as the one that comes in the box or with the wireless charge.
I made this short video: https://youtu.be/nFBoPxORzEg
https://forum.xda-developers.com/k20-pro/how-to/mi-9t-pro-30w-charger-experiment-t4003595
read this. Also tested with a mi9 that my fried had. same result.( Turbo charging up to 30W using the baseus charger)
Posted for those who end up here like me and read mixed info
I also have the Baseus charger mentioned above (BS-EU906), the variant with 2 usb A ports.
When I charge with the cable from my samsung galaxy tab S5e it charges with a bit over 4200mA 20w-21w.
But when I charge with my Baseus 2m 5a capable cable (CATSS-B0G), it never goes above 3400mA ~14w.
It still chargers fast, but it is not what was advertised. Both the cable and charger are rated for QC3.
Baseus GaN charger 65W + Baseus 5A cable reaches 5000mA in Ampere, which is assuming 5V (that's what Ampere is assuming), equals to 25W. The fact is voltage in QC is never stable, it's the factor that allows it to dynamically supply power based on various parameters: battery temp, device temp, battery capacity and so on. If you have a USB-C USB doctor (and it should be more accurate than any software based monitoring) you can watch yourself that both the voltage and current are alternating constantly.

Are there any aftermarket chargers that will work like the oem Motorola Turbopower chargers?
Pretty much any USB-C charger will work. I've used an old USB power brick with a USB-B -> USB-C cable, I've used my Acer R13's USB-C 45W power brick, and I've used my Choetech 55W 6-port charging station with a USB-C -> USB-C cable. They all work.
If you're looking for something that works with the X4's Turbopower, that's basically just Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 under a different name. My charging station is QC 3.0, which works with QC 2.0 devices, which works with this Moto X4. It charges quite fast.

Think our X4 needs QC3.0 for turbo charging. I have several QC2.0 chargers left over from my last phone and they do not charge this device at full speed. Also I'm pretty sure the original Motorola charger that came with it is QC3.0 according to what I've seen. But I've just ordered my first after-market charger (a RAVPower car charger, model VC007003) and can report back when it arrives later this week.
Looks like QC3.0 is the ticket
Here are screenshots of the charging rates using both my old QC2.0 and new QC3.0 chargers. The new one activates the "TurboPower connected" toast message, which the old one did not, and charges at a much faster rate. Gonna check out some QC3.0 wall chargers in the near future now.
Yes.
Anything from Qualcomm's certified list.
The original charger is 5V, 3A (15 Watt). However, most Qualcomm QC 2.0 chargers from 1 or 2 years ago ran at 12V, not 5V for fast charging so they don't support the combination of 5V 3A. It's the same thing that happened with the Nexus 5X which technically didn't have Qualcomm QC either, despite having a Qualcomm CPU. Forget the branding on the charger since it is too unreliable, and just find yourself something that can support 5V, 3A.
Wireless charging station for Moto x4?
Anyone know of a wireless charging station that works on the Moto X4? Got my x4 from Project Fi back in October and now it won't charge with a standard usb c cable. The phone and usb plug gets hot.
I'm using Pleson Fast Charge stand and CHGeek Wireless Charging Patch. The charging patch is kind of unsightly but I don't care, it charges "Turbo" fast.
Uhmmm

That may explain why my Nexus 5x charger can't charge this Moto x 4 (it takes forever to complete a charge) but technically it still works
I've gotten turbo speeds from several different Quickcharge3 chargers from Anker. As a side benefit, they also do a good job charging my wife's iPhone.
For me this cable and this wall adapter do the trick just fine.

The phone ships with a quick charge 2.0 charger. The phone supports 3.0 and also 4.0 for India markets. Mine is Malaysian so it's 3.0. With stock charger it takes 1 hour 20mins + to get fully charged. Not too bad. With a QC 3.0 charger (Using my mi max 2 charger) it takes about less than an hour to get fully charged based on estimates. Charges quite quickly to 70% so stock charger is actually fine.
I think it supports USB PD as well, I used my pixel 2xl charger and it showed that the phone is charging rapidly, will do another full test and post results!

If you own a Global Version, your device will only support QC 3.0. Only Indian Variants support QC 4.0
My A2 unit is behaving quite strange, first let me say that Ampere is not so reliable as a USB power monitoring device, which I have (this unit gets you also the voltage which is being supplied to the phone).
MY measurements (with supplied USB-C cable) are:
- Stock charger: 1,6A voltage 5V
- QC 3.0 charger: up to 2,4A voltage 6,5V
- QC 2.0 Charger (works with Asus Zenfone 2 and Galaxy S8 on quick) - sometimes ZERO - just shuts down after a minute
Other 2A 5V chargers often not more than 0,6A (depending on cable)
So, A2 is very sensitive with cables and charging electronics and probably cannot accept 9V.
Global version.
Sometimes the phone when plugged in charger shows "Charging slowly" and sometimes "Charging Rapidly", What's up with that?

With a Power Delivery 3.0 charger and smartphone off, it can surely be charged with a voltage of about 9V.
I don't know if it's possible also in other cases.
Is the QuickCharge 4.0 a software or a hardware feature in the Indian version? Just wondering if QC 4.0 can be "unlocked" in the global version through future software tweaks?

Absolutely no
When I say Quick Charge, I mean proper QC technology, not some "quick" or "fast" charging method unique to Huawei only.
The stock charger says [email protected] or [email protected] QC2 and 3 can do [email protected] However when I put the M5 onto my QC3 charger, it only draws [email protected] as tested with a cable with V/A reading.
Charger and cable had been tested to work at proper QC power with my ZTE Axon 7, drawing 18W and also a Moto G4 Turbo Charging.
The strange thing is, if there is some "special" Huawei only technology on the stock charger, it still charges my Axon 7 and G4 with "standard" QC3. Anyone has been successful charging their M5 on a standard QC2/3 charger?
Only does fast charge when the screen is turned off.
there's also a possibility that your volt/amp meter is blocking the fast charge also.

Tried it with screen on or off, and even with the M5 off, still 10W on a non stock QC3 charger.
Cable definitely works for quick charge because I used the same cable on the stock charger and it reads 18W, so it is not blocking anything.

Yes, 2 lighting symbol means QCing. However it does not show on my non stock QC charger. My other QC-able devices does on both that charger and the Huawei stock one, strange.
Huawei's fast charge is not part of the Qualcomm's QC standard. However I have found that QC3 is cross compatible with Huawei M5's fast charge.

I have a USB C charger ordered, will see if that works better with the M5.

I had since discovered that Huawei does not use QC standards but their own FCP for fast charge. Some QC chargers have that ability built in, but not all. Time to invest in more chargers I think.
Further update: My charger with USB PD arrived and no, it does not charge the M5 (FCP) nor my Axon 7 (QC3) fast. However the M5 charges off my Tronsmart portable charger with VoltIQ and QC3. I had done a bit of digging around and found (so far) that only Tronsmart make any chargers that can support both standards at the same time from the same port. This is great as it is when I am out and about I will need quick charging most.
Sadly they do not (at the moment) make a charger with, say 2 x QC + VoltIQ ports. It is either 1 x QC + VoltIQ and 4 x normal or 5 x QC + VoltIQ and that one costs a bit too much.

There are many chargers that can QC and FCP at the same time, BUT very few that have 2 or more ports that can do them all at once (or at least FCP+QC on one and QC on the other), just one port and the other one at normal speed. There is a Tronsmart one with 5 ports but it is quite costly.

Not sure what the nexus comes with. However I had tried it with QC3 charger and a USB C PD charger and both just slow charges. Only Huawei original charger or SOME chargers with VoltIQ can fast charge the M5.
plugging in my USB tester proves that actually it takes a 9v 2a charge from original power adapter and cable. Whilst screen is on also.
I'm looking at various chargers and cables to make use of quick charge, or at least fast charge. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I need a FCP capable charger, and a 5A cable?

I can confirm that you do not need the original cable for FCP charge. I used a USB 3.0 (blue plug) cable that works with QC3 for FCP and this is confirmed by a USB V/A meter.
I think Huawei has their own standard. Some of my QC 2 chargers work, some don't using the same cable.
Frustrating that I can't use my Google phone usb-c charger for fast charging. How much slower is it using non Huawei fast charger? Any ideas?

Huawei FCP is [email protected]=18W or [email protected]=22.5W. Not sure which one our tablet uses, at work cannot check the actual charger. However when plugged into a QC2/3 charger, it charges at [email protected]=10W. Meaning it will be between 80% to 125% more time with a non FCP charger.
Having just picked up my M5 8.4, confirm my PD charger is (apparently) quick charging the device. It says fast charge on the lock screen and I've got the double lightning bolt in the status bar. Score!
Hello all
Quick question : is my dash charge charger from my ex One plus 3 will do the job for my xiaomi mi9 ?
It is like this one : https://www.amazon.fr/Chargeur-tabl...rge+oneplus+3&qid=1558015037&s=gateway&sr=8-5
It was extremely fast for the one plus, I wonder if I could damage the battery using it on my MI9
OnePlus Dash Charge : 20W
Xiaomi Mi 9 Boxed charger : 18W
Xiaomi Mi 9 supports QC 4+: 27W
So the charger you get in the box is slightly slower, but you can buy a QC4+ charger for ~25-50€ with 27W.
You could also buy a 20W Qi charger, but if have concerns about damaging your battery this should be your last option imo.
You can charge the Mi9 with the OP Dash Charger and it won't damage your phones. I'm not sure if it actually charges with 20W tho. I also switched from the Oneplus 3 to the Mi9 and when i plug in my dash charger it says "fast charging", but i wouldn't say it is faster then the boxed charger.

Thanks
I just tested, and it charges slower with OP dash charge
I have bought the wireless 20w pad charge , and it charges 1% per 40 sec, the pad plugged with the stock xiaomi charger ( who is 18w )
I would like to try a 27W, have you got a link for a good one ?
Have just tried my old OnePlus dash charger and it's the same as a standard normal non quick charge charger, not as fast as the included 18w charger
Anyone tried the oneplus dash charger with the 20w wireless charging pad? Would it throttle the charging speed?
Anyone tried to put diesel into petrol car? Dash charger and QC is whole different charging concept. Dash charger will work like regular charger(max. [email protected]) on every device except Dash equipped devices.
I am not sure why you're being sarcastic.
If you haven't seen a dash charger, I suggest you go take a look. Even if it works like a regular charger (and I want it to be), its output is 5V/4A.
So my question is whether its output can power the xiaomi 20w wireless pad without throttle. I.e. Full charging capability of the wireless pad.

I believe it's not that simple, OnePlus Dash Charge supports 20W charging, BUT that's 5V 4A.
On the other hand, I believe Mi 9 accept max 2A current, so, if you use original OnePlus Dash Charge, it only charges Mi 9 at max 5V 2A = 10W, much slower than use a standard 18W QC 2.0.....

Actually I have 4 Dash Chargers. There are tons of articles, topics here on XDA explaining how Dash Charging works a why it's not working on QC devices at 4Amps. For example:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/accessories/dash-charge-protocol-analysis-t3431917
https://www.guidingtech.com/61180/dash-charging-quick-charge-differences/
Long story short, it delivers 4A only for Dash enabled devices, with Dash cable. To maitain compatiblity with USB standard it can work also as regular 5V/2A charger.
BTW Xiaomi Wirless Pad draw 27W to deliver 20W. Look at the specs, it requires 20V/1,35A input. And you are asking if 5V/4A are enough.

Hello all
Quick question : is my dash charge charger from my ex One plus 3 will do the job for my xiaomi mi9 ?
It is like this one : https://www.amazon.fr/Chargeur-tabl...rge+oneplus+3&qid=1558015037&s=gateway&sr=8-5
It was extremely fast for the one plus, I wonder if I could damage the battery using it on my MI9

I recomend you to install aida64 on playstore , go to battery and plug the phone to the chargers.
It will say how much energy is going into the phone.
Try it with both chargers
Were i can by the original MI 9 MDY-10-EL 27W wall charger? Not EH, it's USA, Chinese plug adapter, with EU plug connector (Web, online shop). I don't need the wireless charger 20W, i bought it already. Mi France sell both for 50€, it's expensive. I found another one at Aliexpress, 18 USD, but I don't trust the seller, he has only 3 buyers and there is no aftersale expressions. On the other side, other products from this seller are poorly rated.
Bought 2 of those, can confirm 100% original at https://www.gearbest.com/chargers---power-adapters/pp_009422733270.html?wid=1433363

I bought a charger from there too, I tried 2 adapters (US to EU) and 2 cables (original Xiaomi cable and Baseus 5A cable), but I never get over 3300 mA. So which cable do you use? and which plug adapter?
And do you see Charging Turbo while charging? Because I don't. I'm running Xiaomi.eu ROM as well.
I have screens posted on another thread in this subsection charging it at over 4800mah if you don't want to believe me. Use the search function.
EDIT: Yes, turbo charging is instant, also am using xiaomi.eu

Which app didi you use to measure it?
I get something around 3800 ma/h with the official one I bought at a Xiaomi store here in Shanghai.
I use ampere and accu battery for measuring.

Ampere Pro. By the way I use the official cable that came with the phone.
Also, keep in mind the charging amps will fluctuate during the whole process, as in ANY lithium battery in the world. To better have an idea, monitor the charging when the phone is around 30%~40% charged.
The guys asks for the EL version, specifically said he does not want the EH version, but what do you all do ? Recommend the EH version, of course.
Great help you are.
I can't find the EL version anywhere except bundled with the 20W charging pad. I don't understand why it is so hard to find
Thank you all. I didn't find it. I bought the original EH version from Gearbest, with gocomma EU plug adapter. It shows charge turbo.
I have a turbo showing adapter which has that distinctive "l" icon, but it never goes up around 2300-2400 amps. I'm assuming it's fake. So just getting turbo sign or a case without printing errors doesn't necessarily mean that the brick you got is genuine.

Well, I did not find it even like that. I only found some pictures of it on here, from a French guy who had it bundled with his Mi 9, and on some Russian forum.
I don't get it why Xiaomi does not sell it separately.
But it won't matter when the 40W version arrives for the Mi 9 Pro.
mdy-10-el is finally available on AliExpress and price is great 8-12 eur

I'm sorry but you are wrong.
Xiaomi "Turbo Charge" 27W only works with the Xiaomi 27W adapter which is NOT QC4 (still QC3, with proprietary solution for 27W delivery)
n/a

Turbo Charge 27W work also with Baseus Wall Charger http://https://sklep.telforceone.pl/en-gb/product/2223356/2237051/baseus-wall-charger-pps-qc-usb-pd-45w-white-with-display
or Baseus PPS car charger. Max power is 27W. When i use a original cable and conect to USB-A port in charger my phone display "Charge Turbo" so its QC 3.0 dual channel charging.
When i use USB-C to USB-C cable and PD socket (QC 4.0+) charging similar speed (usually 10V, 2,7A) phone display only fast charging. I test also POCOPHONE F1 and Charge Turbo displays only when i use PD socket.
Anyone know where I can get the UK variant from? I hate using those nasty adapter plugs...
Hi, it's me again. I found and bought MDY-10-EL 27W wall charger, from Aliexpress. The cable is thinner than the original one, but never mind. The charger shows charge turbo while charging and it's ok. But, I can't connect this charger with the original 20W wireless charger! I tried with the sellers cable and the original cable, nothing! When i put the Mi 9, even without transparent case, on the wireless charger, it can be seen nothing!? There is no signs of charging? Besides, with the other 27W fast charger US plug (MDY-10-EH), i have no problems. Wireless charging is working. What can i do with this charger MDY-10-EL, to make it working with 20W wireless charger?
Just one notice. The wireless 20W charger is functional with the original Mi 9 18W charger. The phone can be charged. It's not fast charging, but it's charging! On the contrary, the fast 27W charger is not working with the wireless charger!?
