Could it be that verizon got so hammered from the issues surrounding the S5 update they are holding off on ours till they know its good
Not likely. I see Lollipop updates are released for other phones even the Galaxy S4.
I see people posting about how they're ready to give up on this phone because of the lack of update for one important feature. TBH, I don't blame them since I blame this entirely on Verizon. Serious lack of support here, and they couldn't even shoot a minor update for VoLTE. I'm just enjoying what I can with my phone and I'm on a two year contract anyway. If I were given the choice, I'd be grabbing the Z3 or Note 4 instead just because of more options. Until then, I do solidly hope there's something we can look forward to for just an update since it's already May now.
Exactly, figured today would be some sort of update since it's may the 1st and Friday which typically good things are always on Friday, lol. Just extremely annoyed when I need to look something up when I'm on the phone and can't.

It's funny how terribly unreliable Verizon's own network info is to their own employees. First it's claimed we'll have VoLTE for Q1 2015, and we're in the middle of Q2. And all Verizon can say is subscribe to so-and-so link to receive updates.
Still no known info...
Now you see why "root" is so important, had we had root by now we would have a custom ROM of Lollipop at least.
Verizon always sucks when it comes to stepchildren phones (top tier phone but not of the brand Verizon wishes to push).
VoLTE will be just like all of Verizon's brilliant ideas, buggy, uses more bandwidth and works far worse than analog ever did, and no one actually asked for it.
Bombard Verizon with request until VZW gets tired of it, scream loud and scream long, only way VZW seems to listen. :good:
Yup I've been Facebook messaging Verizon every day about advanced calling. Just to bug them
so the tmobile version just received lollipop and again still no words from verizon and even the international xperia z received lollipop now. wtf!???

No they wouldn't have been able to port another lollipop rom over just because you have root. Normally this is all you need for most devices but with the Z3, devs need the update to be released first before they can make roms for it.
The T-Mobile Z3 has been rooted for about a month and still has not seen one custom stock rom. Reason being lollipop hadn't been released yet by T-Mobile

Oh that's great news. I was hoping that since we had to wait so long that they would just skip 5.0 and jump to 5.1. So hopefully by the end of July or sometime in August we might see 5.1, I assume.

Like your optimism, thought I had read that when lollipop is rooted it needs a unlocked bootloader (Zygote was a temporary solution) cause you have to be able to flash a custom kernel to gain root, our phone's need an unlocked bootloader or we will be back in the same situation again, besides makes more sense to have an unlocked bootloader.

Pretty sure we just need a pre-rooted ftf. That is the way it worked with my Z2. As long as you have root and recovery you can flash the prerooted ftf without unlocking the bootloader.

Hope you are right, that would be nice.
It does sound possible from all the threads about the pre-root tool by zxz0O0.
Will have to wait and see.
Thought: why was there a root bounty when this was available?

Read the first paragraph of the PRF Creator thread
"What is a pre-rooted firmware
A pre-rooted firmware is a firmware, which already includes root. This is for example important if you want to update the firmware to a version, where there is no public root exploit. To flash a pre-rooted firmware, you need a recovery menu. An unlocked bootloader is not required."
Root is required to install the locked dual recovery, hence you need to be rooted already.
Hm, just a small say here. I flashed back to the shipped firmware that our phones came with from last year (still rooted), and I'm seeing for sure the battery doesn't die as quickly as the current firmware that's out today. What I'm trying to say here is, I hope Lollipop is designed for better battery efficiency for our phones that does have it achieve a 2-day battery life sort of deal. I don't know exactly what it is that the current firmware is making our phone die faster, but I hope Verizon does some right in it.
Plus, this is already halfway through June. Total bullcrap nonetheless about the lack of update anyhow.

I felt the same way. So I did a factory reset from stock recovery, set everything up again but left it on the .44 update. The only xposed module I am using is gravity box and I disabled sync for google calendar and changed exchange sync to every hour rather than push. I'm using stamina mode with Extended Stand by, Extended Usage and Stamina Clock enabled. I sync a few google items and my outlook email. Location services are normally disabled. I've barely used my phone the past couple of days so this speaks more to what I am getting with it in stand by but I've been off the charger for 52 hours and 35 minutes and am at 52% battery remaining. My standby drain is ~.5% per hour. Which is pretty good.
edit: I'm on a moderate LTE signal most of the time, and used wi-fi for a few hours.
Just had a notice on my phone for a 45.5 Mb OTA update.
It is the MDA89D to MDB08K update, will see if I can get links from logcat etc.

I've not noticed any changes since updating - other than a newer kernel build (8/10). The camera app still seems quite buggy - that's the only issue I've experienced so far so can't really comment on anything else.

Your camera app too? FFC seems a bit shifty, the back camera seems fine. SlowMo video seems to freeze up though at times. Also is your front facing camera fairly blurry on taking photos? Mine is.

It's mainly SlowMo videos that struggle - sometimes they crash the camera app or don't play back correctly. My front facer is perfect, I'm really impressed with it.
Possibly one of those monthly security patches? I hope they release images for each one cause I haven't taken an OTA since... *thinks*... *thinks harder* Holy crap, I don't think I've ever taken an OTA.
Legit, I was in Verizon aka no update land from LG chocolate to droid after droid to Galaxy S3 all of which on cm and rooted etc. Since I've had MotoX 1 and Nexus 5 and 6 in T-Mobile, all rooted stock various kernels. Fastboot FTW.

It isn't... I applied the OTA and the monthly security patch is still October.
I would really appreciate it if someone could pull the OTA. On my 6P's first boot it downloaded the OTA right away. But when I went to install it it never rebooted or installed. Thanks in advance.

does anyone know or can guide me to any marshmallow rom for the xperia z3v please?
also, how do i get rid of the verizon start up screen and the bloatware?
I second this... sort of irritated that there doesn't seem to be a simple solution. What about using the regular Z3 ROM? Will it brick the Z3v?
I'm not an expert. But what I did was just used titanium backup to uninstall my sys-apps. I always froze the app first to see if it would crash anything (Other than the app's own error message). If it didn't I uninstalled it. I really good resource is to check out a thread describing all the sony bloat, over on the z3 forums. Another harder, but sure fire way is to install the old AMAZING rom on an earlier marshmallow version by Zachpope (I may be wrong on that name drop there) that rom was amazing. All the bloat was gone and the build prop was superb. I'd still be on it, but some of my networking stuff didn't work. Anyways, install that, check out what is and isn't installed, then revert back to your original build and get rid of what Zachpope got rid of.

There isn't, really. There was beta access to marshmallow and they shut it down. I was too late to sign up for it. Stupid that they released a beta and just dropped it and nothing else ever happened.

Yeah along with it would seem others as well, I got a Blackberry Priv for all the problems I was having with the Z3v, VzW stopped supporting it just after I received mine, 4 months behind in updates and no Marshmallow even though there is a Marshmallow update on all other carriers Priv's. So I gave up on Android for the time being, Android is getting way to unsecured for me right now so I am eating Crow and getting an iPhone 7 Plus. Goodbye Android, Google, the carriers and phone manufactures have killed the joy we once had with Android.
I am a purist, Android is Linux, it should be free and user tweakable, take Root and unlocked bootloaders away and you are worse than iOS.
With my Linux PC I can update the OS anytime I feel like it, security updates are regular. Although Micro$oft tried to lock the BIOS it didn't succeed.
Phones are mini PCs, locking one down does not make it secure, it makes it less secure for the end user can't keep it updated and are dependent upon manufactures and carriers for updates, which those 2 will hold updates and patches hostage so you will upgrade to a new phone as they want you to.
There is a huge security mess brewing and it will come to a head soon.

Is that true? How to install this beta?
Hello all!
This is my very first post as I am new to XDA and a total newbie with no experience of flashing but looking forward to learn!
I bought a Samsung Galaxy S21 T-Mobile version, which is now Network Unlocked. I want to flash the official Samsung Unlocked firmware and get rid of carrier bloat, also because my phone is still stuck on Android 11 with the October security patch. As far as I know, Android 12 has been released and also the Dec security patch.
I did some research, it seems like that I need 2 tools, Frija and Odin. I only have a Mac and I'm not sure if these tools are available for Mac.
Can anyone please guide me and direct me to a guide for beginners? I'm really not sure where to start. I also have a couple of questions for the experts here:
1- Will this void warranty?
2- Will I still get over the air updates after flashing to official Samsung Unlocked Firmware? If yes, will the OTA be directly from Samsung or will it still be T-Mobile?
3- Are there any disadvantages of doing this? Such as any conflicts on the T-Mobile network?
My phone's exact model is SM-G991U
Thank you all!
If your OS is fast, stable and fulfilling its mission, let it be as you have little to gain.
Updates tend to break things...
At least wait until the update is proven good.
Unless you do something stupid security is rarely an issue on Androids.

May not be worth the time and trouble it will cost you. Depends how much you value the current functionality of the phone and how much you're willing to risk losing.
A toasted mobo will set you back a couple Franklins and put you right back where you started.

Because usually when update system phone getting more worse battery life and peoples say right now april update drain battery . Will i miss something if i dont update phone ? Honestly i want update for better camera . Maybe there is way update camera only or what should i do
Definitely update, not battery drain or anything. They fixed important camera ''bugs''. However, some phones need some time (couple of days) after some updates to settle and learn usage to optimize the battery.
I would wait. Last thing you want is worse SOT. The cam update is part of the firmware.
I would say, update. I haven't noticed any worse battery life. The camera updates and security patches are well worth updating.

So maybe after updates worth make factory reset to comparasion.
I was skeptical from years but in example in my fold 2 from OneUi 3.1.1 after supdate via ota to 5.1 running faster without reset. Overall daylight use performance similar to S23U when I comapre side by side this devices.
But this case don't change my mind about updates and I want stay my S23U on the latest A13 more time after sharing A14 or maybe even A15.
Samsung will eventually force update no matter what. Might as well get it done and over with.
I still have s10+ as i give it to my son... Phone after all those OTA over the years is as fast as it was new and no issue with SoT, in fact sot is comparable to my 23 ultra... Maybe 1 h less... Still crazy good photos, everything works... I think all that updates issue is placebo and some legends who knows form where they come from...
