R just cases are no good. - Samsung Galaxy S8 Accessories

Guys this will probably be one of my last posts here in S8 threads. As some of you know I just replaced the battery in my s8. New back glass new ifixit kit. I give cheap plug to ifixit there parts and tool kits. Thank you guys for awesome parts. This last 24 hours my s8 has seen like new usage 8 hour sot again
Absolutely perfection.
As others may know I put the aluminum r just anti shock case on my s8 a few months back. Well thank you R just
My phone fell off my bed at 2 foot hit the frame rail shocked inside a shock proof case and spidered my screen.
This happend because your rubber insert and such tight precisioned machined metal allowed for movement from a 2 foot drop. Real fricking nice R just.
So to any one else. I probably would not purchase one of these nice looking but possibly fatal cases

[The Bodyguardz] Tips & Techniqus !!! Pls. feel free to share your experience here: )
Hi guys,
I presented you a little tips & techniques on how to install the Bodyguardz. : )
Any body here using the Bodyguardz? Mostly I saw you guys talking bout the
Invisible shield. I know some of you are using the Bodyguardz right?
I got it a couple of days ago and installed it, now it's all dry up and
ready to use! I'll show you guys some pics of the result.
Overall, the installation processes took me about 5 hrs (a bit slow right?
I just did it step by step slow and clam LoL~) I want to share you guys
some tips here. (If you guys considering to apply the Bodyguardz I suggest
you to carefully read the whole manual inside the box first. )
The following tips is not included in the manual. I hope you guys find
it useful in some ways. : )
- I did this in my kitchen just beside the stove's top (weird right? Some
people did this in a bathroom) and then I boiled the water with a large size pan
on a high temperature. The reason of all these is to generate a steam!
In order to limited the movement of all the dusts! so that when we're installing
the Bodyguardz the steam can help reduced the chance of any dusts appeared
under the Bodyguardz and the screen. (BUT shame on me, finally I got
1-2 very tiny eyebrows on the screen... Anyway, luckily that it's not on
the center of the screen! LoL~) One more thing, I also took the battery
out before I applied the Bodyguardz.
- After I applied the front part, I left it dry for about an hour. Then the back
part with a little use of palm technique on each of the corners. (I guess you
guys already know the palm technique right?) The back part is a bit
tricky though.
Now, the rear part. Overall the T-mobile TP2 has 9 pieces
of the rear part. Those rear pieces that stick to the upper part of the phone
(the screen half) is pretty easy. But those rear pieces that stick to the
lower part of the phone (the key board half) required huge!
amount of patience because of those little slope that lean toward the back cover.
(so be cool guys )
So now you got all pieces of the Bodyguardz on your phone right?
Then I left lied down for 30 mins, then I used the palm technique
for the next 45 mins. (all over)
Then here comes the trick! I suggest you guys to use the 'Cling Wrap'
(like the one wrapping your sandwiches LoL~) to wrap the whole phone.
Tightly wrap the phone by focused on those corners and edges.
Moreover, I used the clear sticky tape to taped those corners and edges
again to forced those corners, edges and rear pieces down. (use the tape on the Cling Wrap not on the Bodyguardz)
All these is to keep those corners and edges stick to the phone.
Then I left it over night. Now your phone will look like a Mummy!!!
By the end of the next day I cut big hole on the front plastic wrap
to let it breath a bit.
By the next morning I took the whole wrap things out.
And everything is perfect! From now on, no scratches on my phone!
Finally, I can stop worry about the scratches issue.
Feel free to use the above techniques. (BUT IF ANY DAMAGE OCCURRED
TO YOUR PHONE, I'LL NOT TAKING ANY RESPONSIBILITY.)
If you guys already know about those tricks I must apologize for
posting something that you guys already know.
If any of you have any further tips and techniques then you are more than
welcome to share them here.
Cheers!
Looks good, I have a set coming in for my TP2 and Zune HD. Your tips should come in handy. Thanks
I have it on my phone now. i wouldn't have any other screen cover on my phone. its not the easiest to install but its worth the stress. let me tell you a blower dryer makes it 10 times easier.
thing that piss me off was i got to pieces of lint stuck under the protector and i didnt notice it until it was completely dry.
i would reccomend this 100 percent. the customer service is also excellent. i had a bodyguardz on my g1 and couldnt be more happy. you also get life time replacements.

I'm totally agree with you about their customer service.
They're very nice.
be sure to check there twitter page before you order they have promo codes posted there sometimes. im bout to use my second set already corners came lose already for me.
Looks great on your Tmobile, but if you have a VERIZON TP2, you DO NOT want a Bodyguardz. The one they sent me has a front facing camera cutout for the screen protector. It's going back on Monday.
I'm going to order the Ghost Armor protector, which was specifically made for Verizon.
I Just put this one last night on my TMO Tp2 - its by far better then the zagg/bestskings , No finger drag.. Also the wrap method is a great idea, helps get rid of moisture and made the install near perfect (not completly because I just wasn't steady enough to get it perfectly aligned) but good enought.

Hey there!
The palm technique is how you pressed those edges and corners (or any other
parts) against your palm firmly about like 1 min I supposed... or longer if you
if you want, let the heat from your palm send through to the Bodyguardz
in order to forced those edges and corners down.
Cheers

dude you probably ordered the wrong one. if the one you ordered didnt specifically say for verizon then you got the wrong one. they have great customer service, id reccomend calling them and asking for a verizon version instead. not zure if they have a verizon one out yet though.
@ what150. Great job on the protector install. One of the better installs I have seen. But 5 hours? Man, I don't have the patience for that. I used the method of what another guy had mentioned in here, the hair dryer helped me speed things up a lot more. But I still took my time when applying the protector to the device. A hurry up rush job will get you an ugly install. I learned that from a G1 install about a year ago.
Once again, props to you for a clean install.
cpn09ss09 20% off through 9/30

็ำัLoL~ Thanks man, but I didn't spend 5 hours in front of the phone
Though, I spent a lot of time using my palm pressed against those edges and curves. (While, I watched the movie...)
I'm not sure about the hair dryer cuz I heard that it's not the best way to do it.
(I'm not sure whether I read those from the Bodyguardz website, or from its Youtube videos.) But, I may be wrong! may be it's better to speed things up a bit
Cheers
@ greatbrit
Nice find! 20% off is a good bargain.
Actually, Bodyguardz reccommends a blowdryer on the cool or low setting in 5 second intervals to speed up the process. I did just that and it turned out great.

Screen Sensitivity?
Is there any noticeable loss of screen touch sensitivity-- do you have to press harder, etc., with the Bodyguardz protector?
I just received a set of these -- screen only -- but haven't yet installed it... Now that Boxwave will soon (Oct 9) have a screen protector available for the TMo TP2, Bodyguardz aren't my only option that fits, so I was just wondering...

[Q] Dell Streak 5: LCD Screen cracking issues?

Hi all Streak 5 owners,
I have ordered a Streak 5 for wifey and me yesterday. but am very concerned about the quality of the LCD screen which breaks easily based on postings online. Is it true? Did Dell do anything since launch to change its design/assembly to avoid this problem? I'm careful, but don't want it to break if I drop it say once on a carpeted floor which might happen over the course of a year..
I would like to hear from people who have had it over several months and if it runs fine. Coz most of the time people would post only if something negative happens. That's why I'm asking.
Thanks.
what do you mean exactly by lcd screen. the actual lcd unit only or the lcd + glass screen combo?
anyway I personally think that when came the day that good old Allfather Steve J. F'ker thought it would have been a nice idea to add an actual glass screen to his iphone we all got screwed big time. sure it's more resistent to scratches, but damn it's as fragile as, well, glass!
an item meant to stay all day with you in your pocket, car, desk, workplace, pub and whatnot simply cannot afford to use such fragile materials. and the hell to those ridiculous test with the average engadget writer stabbing devices with a pen, the bottomline is: you drop it, 50% chance you'll cry like a baby
Check stress tests on youtube
Sent from my Dell Streak
Couple of things
Look, I can tell you couple of things about the screen.
1. The Stress test, practically speaking, means NOTHING! you see, its how much bad treatment the glass can take.
That is exactly where they try to make it look like it can take on anything.
But, notice, that everything is like a controlled test rig!
they never tell you about the Falls/trips/Sit_on_it_effects!
2. You have to be ultra cautious & conscious while handling it,
in the sense, do NOT be clumsy!
Butter fingers is not funny here!!
Like crashdebug said,
the bottomline is: you drop it, 50% chance you'll cry like a baby
Use it like you would use your laptop!
I mean you can bang all you want while typing and playing games and all,
but you do NOT want to drop it, while talking/pulling out of pocket. Most probable scenarios where you may drop the phone:
Pulling out of the pocket/ Keeping it inside your pocket
While putting on charging/ removing from charging!
While receiving a call.
Ending a call.
Surprisingly while playing games/typing you are not so prone to drop your phone, (perhaps, cuz, you are so conscious about it!)
One thing more:
You should hear from the folks who dropped it too! to know what you should NOT do !!
(not that you would do any such thing on purpose!)
care,
Sony.
You better get a case (for whatever worth it is, still is a line between your phone and the ground.)
P.S.
anyway I personally think that when came the day that good old Allfather Steve J. F'ker thought it would have been a nice idea to add an actual glass screen to his iphone we all got screwed big time.Lol, that is so true (and funny!) (hahaha)
The Streaks LCD itself is a bit on the weak side. The outer Gorilla Glass sounds nice but does very little to protect the LCD from bending. Most people that replace the LCD still have their Gorilla Glass intact.
I would recommend that you refrain from putting your streak in a pants pocket
and use a case that adds some support around the device. Mine cracked in my pocket just driving to the store and home. It must have bent when I sat in the car. Definitely not not a gel skin type case like I had Otterbox Impact Case = Bad . I now use an Otterbox Defender case ( Has a belt Clip too )
All bets are off if any device is ever dropped but the Streak is sensitive to bending due to its dimensions compared to a 'normal' phone so just be aware of it and you should be fine. It is an awesome phone/mini tablet.

My current phone is a n900 and it has glass screen also. I have a rubberized outer cover and have dropped it a few times even though I'm very careful for the most part! Nothing has happened to it until now.
Thanks for the input everyone. I have bought two streaks, but thinking about selling my wife's as I'm pretty sure she will break it in a few days if not weeks
My 2 Cents
When I got my Streak, I was really worried about breaking the lcd, I carried it in a front empty khaki pants pocket, then got an Otterbox Defender Case.
Good: Dropped it twice on pavement with no damage to device, Great Protection/adds a little bulk but worth it.
Bad: Adds A little bulk to the device, the bely clip and case are kind of big on the belt, the drops were indirectly caused by the belt clip ejecting the phone while exiting a vehicle. would i even consider using the Streak without serious protection, NO WAY!
Cheers
BR
OTTERBOX COMMUTER WIT ZAGG SHIELD DROPPED IT FROM AROUND SIX FEET I WAS SICK BUT NO DAMMAGE AT ALL! GET A CASE NO DOUBT ABOUT IT
Dell Streak 5 problem - inside LCD prone to cracking
go to facebook or google search and search for "Dell streak problem" you will find it.

Basically the streak screen isn't anymore fragile than any other phone, if you drop it from say over 4 foot onto a hard floor it will most likely break. Remember though the screens are only 28 pounds and very easy to replace yourself. I'm not scared of how fragile it is. It holds up pretty well to bumps and tumbles.

I'm not sure what 28 pounds means. Is that all the force they can take in an impact?
I've got one of the Otterbox defender cases but I'm very careful where I put my phone. Despite that I once sent it flying out of my hand. It hit the carpeted floor like 5 feet away and there was no damage. I was very happy.
Great Britain Pounds 28 pounds roughly 45 US dollars.

[Q] Should I return my Otterbox Defender? Will the return be accepted? Plus a poll!!

Overall I've really liked my Defender--I just found a "new" feature where the belt clip can stay open for even MORE kickstand options!--but it's a little bulky, the battery is a ***** to remove, and already, even though I've been very careful with the case (barely left the house since I bought it since I've been home studying all day!) there are noticeable white "specks" on the screen and the bottom latch that holds the two plastic pieces together has broken somewhat!
Again, I've loved the protection (though one last thing that bugs me is how the screen protector is cut a hair too low at the top). Think Best Buy will honor the return, no questions asked, etc? I've still got the receipt, box, etc., and it's within the return period (30 days).
Thanks for any advice, including alternate great-protection cases with less bulk and/or easier to take off to do a battery pull!
Panamaniac
PS: the "speck" is out of focus, sorry. There are several like this that I can't seem to remove. Cant even tell if they're on the inside, outside, are a scratch, or what!!
The only complaint I really have is the height of the case next to the screen. It makes hitting those corners on the touchscreen too difficult.
Other than that, I have been pleasantly surprised. I will still probably switch it out when the Kraken II or Ballistic is unleashed.
Yes best buy will let you return it the otterbox defender rip off my invisible shield and best buy was like o sorry and she returned it
yeah the will. I returned mine with some nicks on it and they took no questions asked. I really dont need that much protection right now..once I start my job again then I will pick it up until then im rocking a TPU case and it works amazing. Ive dropped my phone onto my houses doorway edge and nothing was hurt or broken.
Ya touching the sides is difficult at times, and that's been annoying.
Thanks for the info on easy returns, I might do just that...
Snarebum, when you say TPU, I know that refers to a certain material (the fake silicone stuff right), but do you also mean a super-cheap one or what? what case did you get?
they are not super cheap material as far as I can tell..
heres the one I bought and I absolutely love it!

replace/change the silver side plastic frame bezel around the screen

hi as many note 3 users know, the plastic side frame is easy to get damaged, i have few cracks and one line just under the main power button (not sure just facial or completely crack?)
so, how easy is to change and which one i have to buy ? - im quite noob in hardware sides.
Sure you can buy one on Ebay
I have the same problem, the silver plastic bezel is very fragile.
If you search in Ebay you can found the Bezel and some of them come with tools to turn this in a complete DIY.
Actually i found all the body for this phone in ebay, so you can turn your used and damaged note 3 into a "brand new" one.
Thanks 4 the info. Where did you find it. Could you please share the link?
Thx in advance
hey guys.here is a link for the bezel replacement Bezel On EBAY
i want to tell you that it's not that easy to change it as you need to move the lcd screen from the one bezel to the other one.
there is glue between the lcd and the bezel so you need to warm it and remove it really carefully.i did the process yesterday on my note 3 and it was a pain in the a$$ so i have to tell you to be carefull before any move you re going to do.
Any link for Indian note 3?
Sent from my SM-N900 using XDA Free mobile app
I considered doing this, as I was given a note 3 a while back, but the bezel is beat to hell and the screen had a minor crack. I should've replaced both at the same time, but the small crack turned into a large one and needed immediate attention It's covered by a case now anyway though, so it's not much of an issue anymore.
I dropped mine a while ago and put some pretty nasty scratches on the bezel.
I ended up sanding all the plastic chrome plating off down to the white plastic underneath.
covered the screen with electrical tape and ran a razor round the edge (so I could get to the front part)
It actually looks really good, I prefer it to the chrome.
I got a cheapo battery cover off ebay aswell in orange and it looks real good,
Its a tough job!!!
got my Note 3 as a gift from a friend who cracked it. I replaced the entire Display (along with frame)
and 3 days later I dropped it and got scratches in the frame.
so I decided to buy a frame and fix but its really a tough job.
so I got a bumper for 3$ and job done
I have installed one of those here http://www.ebay.com/itm/Thin-Aluminum-Metal-Bumper-Case-Cover-For-Samsung-Galaxy-Note-3-III-N9000-N9005/151251742076?_trksid=p2045573.c100033.m2042&_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D31478%26meid%3D341538ef5e9d4d6da3228a5f902e8cf1%26pid%3D100033%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D4%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D151251742076
There are some more nicer ones our there, however this does the job well and the build quality is goodd too, my first one at 1,30 USD was not worth anything.
thanks i thought i saw same one for bit less than that, will browse ebay later.

because you must be either living in the area where your carrier signal is real strong/good, or you dont pay attention to little details, otherwise you're lying
I have tried handful of those and other plastic metalized/mirror painted bumpers and what not and all to one had some impact, especially those which had metalized paint/metal/aluminium back cover.
Simple speed test will tell alot when wearing the cover, or just go and keep an eye on your signal strength meter. It sure as hell affects signal.
mine Note 3 is banged up pretty bad around the bezel but instead I just figured it would be more practical getting some slim neat bumpers and call it a day. not only hiding worn and tired bezel but also protecting the screen and back camera optics to some degree

little too many ... beware that those wooden cases are the coolest thing your phone can get but if you do drop your phone they crack and break apart sometimes... not always though but alot alot sooner than any plastic case would and thats a heartbreaking thing because there not exactly cheap case, but hey - how often does someones phone feels and smells like real fresh quality piece of wood? I like them wooden ones very much even if they crack and put some tax on my pocket at the end of the day its almost like your personal signature of style ... besides, its always warm to touch and zero signal interference
PS: lots more were thrown out many months ago, especially all those metalized ones, no use to me nor could I offer them to anyone I knew who had note 3 due to what they are
When my display was damaged, it got repaired, not only the glass, but the whole display including the bezel, it was 1 piece.. I guess it's very hard to replace only the bezel

Broke screen!

Fell off night stand 2 1/2 feet onto tile face down! Never had this issue before (Diztronic thin case) but it must have hit perfect to break the glass and it's got a nice spiderweb on the lower right hand corner!!!
To make matters worse it appears it has to be replaced with the display so $229 seems to be the going rate.
Before I get it fixed, my question is does anyone have recommendations, i.e. Samsung depot, ubreakifix, et al?
My phone was PERFECT, flawless and now I fear that it will come back looking less than 100%. My display is perfectly uniform and has no pink, etc. I just got a Note 9 and both displays look nearly identical.
What about water resistance? I don't normally dunk my phones but I'm concerned if/when I sell it.
I never use case's like this . Always buying 360 protection like Supcase ( In my s9+ SUPCASE ARES) with front layer of protection . I was using s7 with one of supcase's (Supcase Water Resistant) case it was inpristine condition. without any scratch or anything like it. Water resistans is always less if u do repair in services . They need to brake factory seal wich is IP68. Maybe ask i those who will repair your phone that seal will be water resistant. Wish you luck
My S9+ dropped a couple days ago when I was transferring out of the wheelchair. It hit a metal point on the edge which the plate glass saver did not save ? I was researching for a better case. Thank you ?
