This one... I think the honor 8 Pro can do better. At minimum brightness settings in a dark room, I think it's still bright. <-- Example of usage: Watching videos in bedroom with lights turned off. I know of phones that can go even lower in terms of brightness.
Agree, the minimum brightness could be a bit lower. It is good/ok atm.
For me, it's ok.
Edit - It should have been better

Another too bright minimum. Needs screen protector.
At nights, i use less brightness, I didn't feel pain to see the screen.

adaptive brightness is not good
Honor 8 Pro adaptive brightness is not working properly in phone. sometimes it dims to lowest value and does not increase at all in bright light condition.
manageable. most of the time I can use with minimum brightness under dark condition or night. no problem faced till date.
no problem in night or dark room
dim enough for night usage
Comfortable with eyes.

I don't know how to check/test color accuracy. But side to ide with my op5, looks very dull.
i also found the colors to be pretty washed out but thought it was because of it being an lcd and not an amoled. I just installed lineage os and you can tune the colors to whatever you like. it certainly looks very different. I am satisfied now. It looks better to me than the note 2 and the lg g5 which are the only devices I can compare it to.

I totally agree. This was the single reason to my for flashing a custom rom. My display is made by Tianma and was calibrated way too cold.
After installing LOS 15.1 and voidkernel i used kernel adiutor to calibrate de colors and saturation. This is my color profile: RGB=237,238,252 Saturation=45.
Some more good profile for our device..
Who else have different configuration please share it with us
yeah will be nice people able to reach good result, share theyr screen configuration!!!
I don't think that sharing color profiles would be very useful. Mi A1 is a low budget phone with different types of displays from different manufacturers. Each display will have another tint, so you can't really compare color values. My display was very blueish, I had to reduce blue and green in order to get a proper calibrated screen.
So, maybe you can suggest software/way to calibrate good the display?

There are different ways. You could either flash a custom rom with display adjustment capabilities, like LinageOS or RR. Or you just flash a custom kernel and calbirate the screen with Kernel Adiutor.

Well, it is possible to easily root Mi A1 and then adjust the colour, so I don't see a problem here

they have not the same exact display, because both (mi a1 - Mi 5x) can have 2-3 different screen model.

Have been using Zenfone 5, Padfone 8, Zenfone 2 and Zenfone Selfie, all have high minimum brightness. Can some one confirm about minimum brightness on this phone compared to Redmi Note 3 (Kenzo)? It was pain to use Zenfone in the dark.

Can you answer about minimum brightness, because that (You don't want to give your significant other yet another reason to yell at you while you're reading XDA in bed. Night light just about filtering blue light, not about minimum brightness. Bright yellow light still anoying in the dark, minimal brightness will do.
yup. minimum brightness is not comfortable. I use twilight to mitigate this. Hope Asus solves this in future updates.
Or may be with some custom kernels we'll be able to do that.

Already solved with latest update. Try it.
Is there any update which improves upon this? I just want it's as dim as note 5pro.
Try switching on/off adaptive brightness and then sliding the brightness to minimum. Otherwise CF.Lumen by Chainfire is a great app.

Awful, isn't it? My phone's ambient light sensor doesn't seem to be working well either. Like it can't make up it's mind on how much screen brightness to give off when faced with different lighting conditions...suddenly getting bright and dimming for no apparent reason and not dynamically or smoothly but abruptly - even after the latest OTA update (and numerous attempts at adjusting brightness/auto brightness and trying out 3rd party apps).
I would have thought Asus would have at least prioritized this issue over the last OTAs instead of fooling around with additional bloatware. Hope they come up with a solution soon, because I'm getting all cross-eyed. :cyclops:

Ah...too bad. Thanks.
Has anyone noticed that the auto-brightness does not scale correctly in dim light conditions? Compared to a Xperia1 sitting right next to it is considerably dimmer (Xperia 1 is around 50% on the scale vs the v60 25%. Appears that there is no adaptive brightness available in the settings and you cannot adjust the slider unless you disable the auto brightness setting. In a dim room it will go down to 0% vs the Xperia's 15-20%. I know it will learn from you changing the brightness setting but all my other phones you left the auto-brightness on while adjusting that. Forgot to mention this is the tmobile version, also not seeing any of the galileo gps on this phone.
It is absolutely terrible. I turned it off for now.
Dug into it a bit today, appears that LG's Night Mode is not like Androids Dark theme. When you switch from light to dark on other Android phones (Sony,Razer, Pixels, oneplus) the text colors will change to a color which contrasts with the darker colors. LG keeps the same text colors so the secondary line of information is a medium gray on a darker grey. Turning Night mode off does help out a lot.
And the t-mobile version definitely missing the Galileo GPS satellites. But none of the support staff are online to talk to about it...

OMG, the OnePlus 7 Pro is renowned for having terrible auto brightness...I know because I own one (mine is livable though) but to say that the V60 is worse than the 7 Pro...that's got to be beyond bad.
What is it with so many of these OEM's that they expect us to pay mega-bucks for these devices and they are crap from the factory? Is there no quality control anymore at all?

When I had the V30 the auto-brightness was great. Think these OEM's have issues with auto-brightness because when bezels was a thing they could have housed a better sensor.

Hi all,
I'm fairly senstive to PWM, but i already had few mobile phone with Oled, and i had no problem ( i had problem with TV)
But i bought the S23 ultra on friday, and since i had hard headache, specially in the morning
I installed screen oled apps, but to no avail, i play with the mobile for few minutes, then headache
Any idea ?
Maybe its the adaptive Refesh Rate, turn it off and try it out.

Is there a way to fix the refresh rate at 120hz instead of 60hz

Is there an easy way to check, if the S23 Ultra uses PWM with a low value like the S22 Ultra? (around 240Hz)
I was hoping so much for the new S23 Ultra to have a much better PWM value (of around 2000Hz), but unfortunately it seems, that Samsung still do it
Maybe my local electronics store will get a S23 Ultra for Demo at the end of this week, so I can test it in the store.
With the S22 Ultra I get eye pain and headaches after 2 min, so using it in the store should get good results!
As soon as I tested it, I will let you know

Either Decrease brightness to 10% or download an app called galaxy Max Hz from here in this forum
You can not do anything about it, that is the big issue about Oleds, all have PWM and all affect eyes even to normal people if you use it too much time, that is a reason why I never buy a Laptop with PWM screen.

They aren't talking about PWM. Normal people aren't bothered by it and PWM flicker on S series has been 240hz anyway.

You have no idea of this subject, the issue in all this screens is regarding the nefarious PWM, all Oleds suffers this and cause a lot of problem in people, it has nothing to do with the refresh rate and there is no solution with any app when the brightness level is done with PWM, this is a hardware stuff and if you don't tolerate it, buy another phone with IPS screen that does not use PWM, this is what I did with the Galaxy Tab S7, fortunately there is a model with IPS, Oled is not suited for watching the screen for long time.

this, use galaxy maz hz, solves almost every issue with it.
Increase room's ambient light, use manual brightness control and increase display brightness.
If that and fixed refresh rate doesn't work try using an incandescent light source or indirect sunlight.
I had a similar issue with my Samsung M62
Try disabling vivid colour mode.
