I find a lot of complaints on here about BT on the Mate 20 Pro. Is it problematic?
I just got one a few days ago, and in one of my cars, I have a streaming via BT radio, and with this phone, it will skip ever 10 seconds or so. Makes it unsatisfactory to listen to.
I don't have this problem on that streamer with my Note 9, or my Mate 9. Interestingly, I haven't had that problem with this phone on a couple other streaming speakers.
Any thoughts?

I never experienced issue with bluetooth streaming from my Mate20, use it with both my bt radio, earphones when running and bt streaming when at practise... neither dropouts or skips ...
I'm on the Mate 20 Pro, not the Mate 20...could be a difference.
Although, it has been better past couple days. Fingers crossed...
I have loads of issues with this on my car radio, it had issues with my S8 before so not entirely blaming Huawei.
my bad .. i have the m20 pro too... . was just lazy so figured it was the pro forum so ... ... as i said..havent had any issues with either stero streaming or with the car radio... ...

I recently got the BackBeat 903 as a replacement for my previous bt headset, and it works great for calls, however, when I tried listening to music the playback experience is not as good. The music plays just fine, but as soon as I move the phone, or if I turn the screen off the playback starts becoming choppy, as if the audio player (I tried several, and they all do the same) would loose CPU time and control to the G-Sensor or something, and then when I stop moving it around the playback resumes. Anybody had the same problem? Thanks for your help!

Hey there benitton, I have the same headset, and experience the exact same issue...intermittent skipping, as if the handset was bogging down for different reasons.
However, I'm firmly of the opinion that the issue is with the phone and the sub-par bluetooth stack in it, not with the headset itself. I haven't tried other BT stereo headsets with this phone, but I've used the backbeats with other devices, and didn't have the same issue at all.
Unfortunately, I haven't yet found any source or method for replacing the BT stack in the TP2, we may just be stuck with this one for good
Have you used any other stereo BT headsets with your TP2? If so, did you notice the same symptoms at all? (<----- that's a question for anybody, not just the OP)
Unfortunately I have not found any other headset that I would like to use, and as you mention, it seems that no matter which one we could use we'll have the same problem. I am trying to see if there is any way we can run any audio player in exclusive mode, maybe that could help a little bit, but since the BT stack is part the system, I guess it will still have problems. I tried disabling the G-Sensor, but I was not able to fully disable it, so I still had problems with the audio, but not as much as when it is fully enabled. I will keep trying to find something, and any suggestions you might have would be wonderful. Thank you!

I honestly haven't tried any other BT stereo headsets with the TP2, so I can't say for sure...but honestly for $12 I might just pick up that motorola to give it a shot and see.
But...I'm sure there's others here who have used that same model, or even different ones, who could comment on whether they've seen the same issues...
I have the backbeat 906 (it's a 903 with the headphone jack adapter in the box) and haven't had stutter problems using a Touch Pro 2, T-Mobile version, with the stock 6.5 ROM and S2P/S2U2. The audio quality has been great and I use the thing while running so it's obviously moving constantly. What software are you running on your phone that might be eating CPU?

Yeah I really should have bought the 906's instead...because now I can't find the adapter sold separately anywhere, and I already have a number of uses for it
Now when I have the issue, I usually have nothing running but the media player itself (I've had the issue with several different ones as well). However, after re-reading the OP's notes, they do bring up a good point...I've got my g-sensor set to work with manila too, so that might contribute to the issue, but it's intermittent enough that I can't tell yet whether turning the sensor off made any difference.
It also occured to me this morning that it might be related to the commonly-felt lag whenever the SMS module is engaged (like when receiving an SMS)...again, since not every SMS msg seems to affect the performance exactly the same, it'll be a little while 'till I can tell for sure.
While we wait for any other suggestions, those might be things for benniton to take a look at too

Interesting. I'm not using the g sensor for pretty much anything - usually when I'm using the 906s it's while running so my handset's got Endomondo, S2P, S2U2, and sometimes pocket outlook open. I've noticed it breaks up a little if i have my phone in the opposite pocket from the left earphone (so right pocket) but it doesn't stutter exactly, just drops in quality. left pocket is fine though. it's always been fine in a belt case.
Before S2P had working AVRCP on the Pro2 I was using the Music tab built into Manila and didn't have any lag issues with that either. Though, I just thought of this - wifi interference? BT and wifi use the same frequency bands and watching youtube videos over wifi has definitely induced a headphone stutter for me in the past. I got around it by letting the video cache first and then playing.
Problem disconnecting calls
Hey fellas...
I got the Plantronics Backbeat 903 for my Touch Pro 2. I really like the headset but I'm having a problem with it not disconnecting a call when I click the phone button on it to hang up.
It will always pick up the call when I click the button to answer but it will only sucessfully hang up the call maybe 1 out of 5 or six times.
Are any of you experiencing the same issue?
I had a Sprint Touch and bluetooth worked great with S9 headset. Then I got a Diamond and headset was horrible, lots of cut-outs, tried all kinds of things to no avail. Also got a Jabra BT2010, same problem with Diamond. Now I have the Touch Pro 2, Sprint, WM6.1 and Jabra works great with S2P, Resco Radio, StreamCenter and Slacker radio. Haven't tried with S9 because it died, battery won't hold charge, before I got the TP2. Just thought I would share my experience.
Was the quality good streaming with the TP2 Bluetooth or using the adaptor?
Can I ask what case you use with the TP2 when running? I would like this set up but don't want to risk damage to the phone through swear or rain. Does the TP2 fit in a iPhone armband?
Edit: Just found this thread for anyone else after an armband:

Good with both the TP2 and the adaptor. I use S2P on the phone for my music app along with S2U2. As far as cases go, I just run with the phone in my pocket - I've run races in the rain and the phone's been entirely unaffected. Very solid hardware.
I used the BackBeat 903 with my iPhone 3G and experienced the constant breakup of signal whenever I tried to move around. If I was completely motionless, it provided superb quality - but if I tried to slowly walk across the room - it would break up with a frequency that approximately matched every right step (the phone was in my right pocket).
I disabled the "shake to shuffle" feature, just to be sure.
I tried holding the phone right up by my shoulders while walking, yet the disruptions continued.
And now I have upgraded to an iPhone 4 - and the problem is worse, not better.
Are we sure this is an Apple problem and not a Plantronics problem? Either way, I can't use the 903 for its intended purpose - to listen while walking.
Very, very frustrated.

I normally keep my phone in my left hand pocket when using the headphones - I believe the antenna is on the left side. I experienced poor performance with my phone on the right side of my body, but performance is typically good on the left. I've noticed that if I have a significant amount of metal between my head and the phone pocket (like, say, a handgun) the signal breaks up - my assumption is that whatever is in between the phone and the headset causes interference in the bluetooth connection. The best performance I've had has been my phone in the left side pocket of a pair of gym shorts, only wearing the shorts and a t-shirt. Also, for some reason my insulin pump doesn't seem to have enough metal in it to cause interference.
You have to make sure that your mobile phone is located on the left side of your body whole time, while you're using backbeat 903. It's in the manual hehehe. This will solve your problem. cheers.
Problem solved!!!
atleast for me ...I simply disabled the WIFI and poof the choppyness is gone and now plays without any distortion clear as a bell...hope this helps.
Of course I also used a registry editor to remove unwanted programs and clean out useless files.......... I think the problem lies with The 528MHz Qualcomm CPU with 288 megs of RAM.. I do not think it is sufficient enough to run all things at once...I would suggest to remove any and all unnecessary programs/files, then disable all which can be enabled when needed....good luck.
I've had my Tilt 2 since February now, after trading in my Tilt 1 which had died. I'm a very heavy user and frequently in the car, especially on the freeway with the windows down or cracked since my a/c doesn't work. I'm on the search (again) for a bluetooth headset that actually works. I've been through 5 of them in the last 8 months, including major brands (and price) like Plantronics, Motorola, Blueant, as well as cheapo's. I've even tried using a wired headset using the usb-2.5/3.5" adapter provided by HTC, but I don't even get good sound out of those. 90% of the time, I can hear the other person just fine, but they ALWAYS say that I sound like crap. Sometimes it's wind noise, sometimes everything is fine, no wind, volume ok, I'm just distorted...too distorted for them to understand what I'm saying.
Obviously, I'm not afraid of spending a good chunk of change on a good quality headset, so long as it works as such. But I have had everyone I know complain about every headset I've owned so far. Now, most of the headsets I've bought were rated the highest in the ratings...so it can't keep being the headsets fault...it's got to be some combination of the headset with this particular phone.
Does anyone know of a good, reliable, comfortable, HIGH QUALITY SOUNDING headset???
~Z
I use the Motorola H720 pretty often with my Tilt2, and I haven't gotten any complaints. I've also used the newer H790, which also I have never had complaints on from the other end; but the volume on my end was too low, so I stopped using it.
I also used the older H700 for a long time with the original Tilt, and then the Tilt2 for lots of long conference calls. Again, no complaints from the other party about sound quality. But I lost this headset, and replaced it with the H790 (then later the H720 due to the low volume on the H790).
But I'm not in the habit of using the BT headsets in my car with the windows down. Is this issue prominant even when you are indoors?
Sometimes retail stores will let you try out a demo unit, so maybe you can try some of these without spending any money?
I have used the jabra bt3030 for past 18 months. Works great and sound is better than HTC's hp that came with phone.
I use a Plantronics Voyager Pro every day and I am very pleased with it. It is a bit bulky but the sound is great, even in strong winds and in the car with windows down.
you just have to invest in a good headset. i use the JawBone 2 Sound Assian. i also hear the new blackberry headpiece is great!, no buttons whatsoever, voice command, dial starts when u say a certian word. i use my bluetooth to open apps, files, delete things play music, ect.. and call duh. so its good to intest in a good headpiece, with voice command.
I second the Plantronics Voyager Pro. It sounds good, has VERY good noise cancellation and has uber long battery life.
Downside is I think it looks silly. But I use it just the same.
Using Voyager Pro as well.
So far I did not hear any complaints.

Really good sound quality. I even tried it on my motorcycle, people say they hear me like normal.
I've been using a Motorola H850 for the past 3 years now and I haven't had any problems with it. I originally bought it when I had my razor in 07' and I've been using it with my Tilt 2 since this March of this year. They were the top of the line back in 07' but now you can get it for $10 now. Maybe there are betters ones out there now, but this one hasn't faile me yet.

Anyone else having Bluetooth audio stutters or skips? Getting some a few times per song while using a Bowers & Wilkins PX. Very annoying Had no issues with Bluetooth on my previous Galaxy S8.
Tried deactivating Dolby Atmos and made sure any other sound enhancement was turned off.
Thanks,
Art
I get stutter on Bluetooth when a WhatsApp message comes in running poweramp.
Possible fix found. Read on a forum post for another phone which suggested clearing the cache for the Bluetooth apps. Cleared all three that I found as system apps, and it has been skip free for a day and a half.
Indoors or out? I get bad skipping outside in NYC with my Momentum 2 Wireless, worse than it was on my S7 (which wasn't great). Problems with my Sony car stereo too, it stutters and disconnects entirely, and won't reconnect automatically unless I tell the receiver to do it.
I thought it had to do with being linked to an Android Watch at the same time, so I turned off my Huawei Watch outdoors. Sounded fine on Friday, but the drops were even worse this evening.
funny i had problems on iphone 7 plus but none with this s9 yet
Factory reset didn't even fix it
I had no problems until about a week ago. I listen to music in my Honda Civic and Sony SRS-XB31 speaker every day. Occasionally on my JBL Clip 3 while riding my bike around. Last week my Sony speaker started crackling and pausing my Pandora. I switched to my JBL and had no issues and my car has worked fine. Today things were so bad I did a factory reset. Even with bluetooth turned off my Pandora was pausing up (even after restart). I've got an old S7 at home that I can use for music and has no issues on any speaker, but this is really annoying that my newer phone is useless for music now. Things still work fine in my Honda Civic, but all of my bluetooth speakers have been rendered useless because of my S9+... This may be the end of my Samsung preference if they don't hurry up with a fix. I wish they would just roll back the bluetooth update or something..

I have 1000xm2 - no problems whatsoever.
Are you sure you're getting your phones into Bluetooth pairing mode (long press on the power button, till you hear the prompt)
I am having the same issue as @haidar7 . I have reset my Mate 20 Pro twice and tried to pair with my JVC HA-EC20BT headphones 20+ times in different areas around my house. I know its not the headphones as they connect no problem with BB Key2. The only thing I can get my Mate 20 Pro to get to pair to is my Desktop PC. JVC headphones do not register at all on my phone Bluetooth.
If anyone has any solutions, I am certainly open to them.
I was having the same issue, then changed the mame of the phone un BT settings avoiding using spaces.
Give a try.

Nah it's fine with about 4 different pairs of headphones i've used, Bose, Sony, AKG and Panasonic. Note 9 is okay, I have a 512gb version as my backup phone, its just a bit big and the camera isn't as good.

Hi folks,
I've seen a few comments on bluetooth on this phone but not this specific one. I have a Kia Optima with bluetooth and when I get in the car I expect my M20P to auto connect to the head unit. It seems very temperamental though, often not connecting at all. Other times it will connect and then randomly drop connection and reconnect. Has anyone else had this or know what might be causing it?
I'm currently testing if it only connects when I wake / screen on / unlock the device which it seemed to do on my commute this morning, but then a second time it still didn't connect doing the same thing.
I'm also checking with Kia if there is a software update for the head unit but i'm expecting them to blame the phone and Huawei to blame the head unit.
Any help appreciated.
Hi, I am experiencing something very similar. Very bad audio quality during calls, and temperamental connections with Bluetooth - disconnecting and re-connecting.
I haven't been able to find any solution, hoping to awaken this forum.
Same issue here - On 9.0.0.187
Volkswagen Golf 7 2016
Voice sounds like its lagging and like metallic treble
Also i notice with Spotify will streaming music that the display unit is out of sync with what i am listening

Did you ever figure this out?
My girlfriend just reported to me that her new 6T is not automatically connecting to her car like her old Android did. It's paired, but she gas to manually connect.
I have audio speeding up and slowing down on my Skoda Citigo bluetooth with Mate 20 Pro, its slightly better than my Galaxy S8 which used to continually drop connection.
9.0.0.266, Very flakey Bluetooth since this update applied. Used to be fine before this, now i get random disconnects from my Galaxy Watch,, by VW headunit in the car, and random drops of audio from my Freebuds 2 Pro.
Starting to get rather annoying
