Hello guys,
I've got a big problem with my I9300 and therefore I would like to ask here for any help. (If I'm in the wrong section, please move the thread to a correct one)
I had installed the Resurrection Remix ROM, v5.2.6. from 30.12.2014 and Googy-Max 2 recovery (CWM based) on my phone. I was using it for days and all worked fine.
One day I turned the phone off and I wanted to restart it. But it never restarted again; it ends up in a boot loop. It shows me the white Samsung Boot-Logo for some seconds, then a total black screen and the same thing repeats in a loop.
So I wanted to get into the recovery for wiping etc. but I couldn’t access the recovery. Nothing happens by pressing the relevant buttons. The device is still hanging in the boot loop. So I wanted to flash via Odin, but this isn't possible. I also can't go into the download mode. After pressing the relevant buttons, the green warning screen appears, which asks me if I really want to go to the download mode. But when I press volume up for "continue" or even if I don't press anything, the phone turns off and the boot loop with the white Samsung Logo starts again.
Therefore I ordered a USB JIG for forcing the device to go into download mode. When I plug the USB JIG in, the device actually goes into download mode but this status holds on only for a few seconds. After accessing download mode through the JIG, after a few seconds the phone turns off, restarts, (and because the JIG is still plugged in) the download mode appears again and it ends in a loop.
At first I thought maybe the power button is sticking and therefore the device turns on and off autonomous. But definitively I can negate it, because I opened the phone and removed the power button and nothing changed. Also by pressing the power button on the mainboard I can clearly hear the "click".
So I started a new attempt. Although the time, in which the device stays in download mode before turning off, is very short (only a few seconds), I tried flashing an other recovery, namely TWRP v2.8.3.0. So I prepared ODIN, plugged the JIG into the device, by appearing the download mode I switched cables and an other person clicked start at ODIN and it worked. So now TWRP is installed. Now I also can't get into recovery but after flashing TWRP there exist two little differences. First, after pressing the relevant buttons, TWRP appears for less than 1 second until the phone turns off. Secondly, when I plug the device in for charging, the Samsung charging logo appears for some seconds, then for less than 1 second appears a charging logo from Lollipop and the device ends up in a loop by displaying alternately the two different charging logos. Before flashing TWRP, the device booted in a boot loop (as I wrote above) by plugging it in for charging.
So the main question: how can I get my device work again
I tried telling you all details so that you have a better view of the problem.
Maybe I should flash a fully (stock) rom, but as I told you the download mode appears only for a few seconds. Flashing a recovery was possible, because the recovery file is very small - 7 MB. A full rom is much bigger and I think by flashing a complete rom, the device would turn off while Odin is flashing, therefore I ask first here for any assistance.
Thank you very much in advance!

Check and make sure that your volume buttons and home button are not stuck also. If they are not, I would suggest a visit to a repair shop as your EMMC chip might be weak already.

Your power button is failing, stuck in 'pressed' position. Try pressing repeatedly power button for several seconds, then release it completely. It shall bring it back to life. Visit your local service, or prepare tin, heat gun and soldering pistol. One button cost $0.2, they are selling them on eBay in sets of three (and 10, and 100....).
Happened to me some time ago, and video on youtube helped me to dismantle my phone, pull broken button out of it, and change it for new.
My phone was cycling like yours.

As said your emmc chip maybe failing.
The dead boot thread maybe of interest to you.

Thank you very much for helping! :good:
So the question is, whether it's the power button's or emmc's fault...
I did a little searching and found this video. I've got exactly the same problem like the guy. At 1:06 following the boot loop, at 1:34 following the problem with downlod mode.
Although he thinks it's caused to the sudden death problem, but at least in my case I think it's wrong because months ago I did the eMMC Brickbug Check.
Also I noticed a probably important detail. When I put the battery in the phone, it automatically turns on without pressing the power button like in 1:04-1:09 in the video. Which normal working phone turns itself on by simply putting in the battery...?
So it must get a command for turning on - (possibly through a defect power button?)
@Virnik0, do you remember, if you could hear the micro-switch clicking on your phone before replacing the button on the mainboard?

Your power button is faulty, replace it before you try fixing anything else.
Thank you very, very much for helping! :good: :good: :good:
Truly the power button was fault although you could hear clearly the "click".
I unsoldered and removed the power module and (by startig with JIG and rebooting via ADB) the phone works as it should. :victory:
Now I'm trying to solder a new power button......it's a bit tricky
Again, thank you very much guys!
I had the same problem, pressed the button many times, and it helped. Thank you for your suggestions
How the problem occurred
So a year or two ago I bought a Jiayu G4A/T/Whatever they're calling it and safely got it here. I've used the stock ROM for a bit but I wanted to get rid of the bloatware that was still on it, so I eventually ended up with a properly rooted phone with a ROM from Jiayu.es (Everything worked, have ClockworkMod as recovery, accessible via Mobileuncle Tools), which was essentially a stock Kitkat rom made to work for the phone. Now I got sick of the ROM and recently saw the new EMUI version on Huawei's P8 Lite, so I figured I'd look around for a tailored ROM running that, and ended up at "jiayu-emui-3-0-stable" from Needrom.
What I did
1. I downloaded a ROM from Needrom with identifier "jiayu-emui-3-0-stable" (I can't post external links)
2. Backed up my important files following a guide from androidcentral titled "[Guide] How to Backup and Restore Apps and Data when installing new ROMs" that I can't link, and did a full backup using CWM
3. Placed the ZIP on my internal SD card, went into recovery, wiped data/cache (not dalvik, since it wasn't described in the instructions, I think this might be a probable cause) and installed the new ROM from ZIP
4. Rebooted the phone and now it's stuck in the boot loop I mentioned.
What the problem is
Bootloops aren't that much of a problem usually, except this one is... I can't get into recovery mode. From there on it'd be cake, since I made the right preparations, but I can't get into it. While connected to my PC it keeps powering on, showing a splash screen from Jiayu.es briefly (which shouldn't be present anymore) and powering off after 10 seconds, only to come back to the splash screen.
What I've tried
I've unplugged it, removed the battery, waited to get a full power cycle and tried to hold my buttons in these combinations: [power button + volume up], [power button + volume down] - but neither work. It just keeps going with the boot loop. I can succesfully power it down, and when I plug it in from there it shows the low battery image. At the moment of seeing that I thought I could connect to it using ADB / Fastboot, but no luck there either. It keeps saying no devices found, and with fastboot it keeps on <waiting for device>.
My questions
What exactly can I do if there is no way for me to get into recovery mode? Are there any alternatives? How can I get my device to be recognized by ADB? Is that even possible? Why is this bootloop any different from others?
Update from the massive Q&A thread:

Is it booting up on its own too after being off? This happened to wifes phone and it turned out the power button was stuck. I took a pencil and hit the power button with the eraser a few times and it worked then. Her case mustve dislogded it. I will keep my fingers crossed for u. If not send me a private message and i will look for an answer tomorrow and get back with u

Yes, it does. I took the battery out and let it lay disassembled for a night, after which I cleaned it a little and re-inserted the battery. With the case back on, nothing happened, so the power button wasn't stuck for sure. When I powered it back on with the power button (no USB attached) it showed the emblem for ~8 seconds and powered off. It then buzzes to show it's powered on again and up comes the splash screen again. Could it be that the ROM was just a rebooting falsehood? Why would it disallow me getting into recovery mode? I really hope there is something that can still force the device into recovery mode / interact with it somehow while in this state.
Oh, I also tried to see if the volume down button was broken but all the contacts seem intact, plus, they worked an hour before I started switching roms.
Hello brickers and others.
Maybe i found THE solution for a hard bricked M4.
I was messing up my phone after flashing roms over each other and wiping several things several times.
So i hard bricked my phone i think because this is what the phone did :
In the first period the phone was starting but shows only the Sony logo for about 30 seconds and then the phone restarted automatically, and so on. That means i was in a boot loop.
I didn't came in to TWRP recovery mode. That did not working anymore
Pressing volume down button and connect to pc for Flashmode did not working too. I came into Flashmode and my pc whas finding the M4 but after 20 seconds or so the phone was rebooting by himself. Thus Flashmode was unuseable.
The volume up button for Fastboot mode was working very well.
Only, my point is i can't flash a firmware via Fastboot. I don't have enough experience that way, if it is possible at all. I don't know.
Okay, i was stuck at that point.
After flashing as a dumbass some kernels via Fastboot mode i came in the second period, a hard brick i think.
The only thing what my phone did now was going on for a few seconds (showing Sony logo) after a long press on the power button, and then it turns off.
TWRP recovery was also that time not working.
My phone was not showing the led when he turns on that few seconds.. I didn't came in Fastboot or Flash mode anymore (no led showing up). Nothing was working anymore except that the phone turns on for a few seconds after a long press on the power button.
THE SOLUTION
I hope for every M4 users i found the solution for this brick. I don't know if it is mentioned yet somewhere. I didn't find it. It feels like a secret combination but it worked for my M4 E2303.
"Press the volume up & volume down button at the same time and keep it pressed. Then press the power button and keep all these 3 buttons pressed, LONG pressed, TILL the following vibrating code has COMPLETED!!!"
Code: rrrrr rrr rrr rrr
Now you can release the buttons and Fastboot & Flash mode should work fine now. You can use Flashtool now to flash a STOCK firmware (tft file) via Flashmode.
After completing your phone is repaired.
Succes.

Hello.
last night i was trying to flash miui 8 on my device via twrp but it takes too long so the batery died, thats because i was using otg.
now my phone wont charge and wont turned on, no vibration, no edl, no fastboot, just blank screen.
but when i connect it to PC mi flash detects com 10, so i flashed twrp and succeded, but my device still wont turned on, i tried flashing official ROMS for redmi 3 pro, but failed, it said error in hello packet or something, sometime the error change to ping via firehouse failed.
anyone has a solution? i really appreciated it.
Thanks.
Edit: I've found the solution.
1. go into EDL mode by pressing Power vol+ vol-
2. use miphone 20151028, don't use recent mi flash
3. Flash TWRP
4. Proceed to flash ROM (in my case i use RR Os) via TWRP
bricked after battery change
Hello,
I had obviously a battery problem. So I ordered one from ebay and I replaced it. The new battery seem to work, however the phone will not respond to the buttons. Not any buttons. Only if I plug in a cable, mi logo appears for a few seconds and then a big battery bar shows for a few more seconds. Then nothing. (If I put in the old battery and I plug in a cable, the reaction is the same BUT no battery bar appears). Any help? Thanks, Filip.
My problem is with black screen Xiaomi Mi Play. No fastboot, no recovery. If it is connected to charger only led flashes two times every minute. Also, when holding Power button + Volume Down/Up phone vibrate after every 10-15 seconds. I download official fastboot ROM and tried to connect the phone with XiaoMiFlash but phone is not showing. Only I can hear(on PC) a USB connection (and disconnection 1 second after) every 10-15 seconds while I'm holding Power button + Volume Down.
I tried to deattach battery to try to reset it, but nothing happens.
Unfortunately this phone is 8 months old but still doesn't have much support (recovery twrp, custom roms, root guides...etc.),
PLEASE HELP ME quickly because my battery was at 60% when it went to black screen yesterday, so I asume I don't have to much time left to do something.
History: Bootloader is unlocked. I tried to flash unofficial twrp for Mi Play and completely lost access to any recovery. I rooted phone with Magisk(trough fastboot) and it worked fine (Root Checker also). Then I started Factory Reset in phone (because I hoped it will get me at least official stock recovery), but instantly phone goes black.
Thanks very much
Anyone??? Please help me.
Does "test point" can help? Does anyone knows where they are?
Cool. Why did you rooted your phone? ????
