I'm going to show the common strength and weaknesses of these two, and help you decide which is best for you.
So let's start with similarities :
- USB Type C 2.0
- OLED screen
- HDR10 compatible
- In-screen FP scanner
- Wide, ultrawide, and telephoto lens (48, 13, 8mp)
- Front and back glass design
- Same band compatibilities
- Widevine L1 (global)
- UFS 2.1 Storage
- NFC
- Google Pay
- Fast charge capable
- Bluetooth 5.0
etc. etc.
Now the differences (I'm going to try to make it as short as possible) :
Mi 9T - , Mi 9 SE -
1- 6.39" screen , 5.97" screen
2- Amoled screen , Samsung Amoled screen
3- 4000mah battery , 3070mah battery
4- Sony IMX582 sensor , Sony IMX586 sensor
5- 4K30 with EIS , 4K30 without EIS
6- 1080p up to 960fps , 1080p up to 120fps
7- f/2.2 front camera , f/2.0 front camera
8- Pop-up camera , Dot notch camera/display
9- No support for PD fast charging , Supports PD fast charging
10- Less sensors , More sensors
11- SD 730 , SD 712
12- 8nm processor , 10nm processor
13- 3.5mm jack , no 3.5 jack
Description :
1, 5, 8, 11, 13 are self-explanatory.
2. The Mi 9 SE has a better display than the Mi 9T. It's probably an in-house made Xiaomi amoled screen on the 9T. Therefore, the SE should have better colours and contrast.
3. Despite the 9T having a bigger battery, the SE seems to be able to keep up with the 9T in a few testings on Youtube, maybe the SE will average few hours less than the 9T. So the battery shouldn't be a huge deal, unless you're a heavy gamer go for the 9T.
4. From my research, the 582 can only be recorded up to 4K30, that's all I could fine. However, I've seen a few videos showing a slightly softer image in detail compared to the 586. This is more noticeable in low light, but different image processing could have a play in this scenario.
6. I have no idea why the 9T can record 960fps at 1080p. The SD 730 on Qualcomm's site states that it can record up to 120fps at 1080p and 240fps at 720p (no information about the SD 712). So I don't see why the SE wouldn't be able to record 1080p960.
7. In theory, the SE should produce better selfies than the 9T, especially at low light, but image processing plays a major role here.
9. It's hard for me to explain, just google it XD
10. The SE has more sensors than the 9T for navigation and whatnot. FYI, the SE has an IR blaster where the 9T lacks.
12. A lower nm process results in better performance and better battery life. So the 9T has a lower battery consumption than the SE.
Research is all done by me. Information that I've gathered are from the following sites :

youtube.com (camera and image performance, battery performance)

Hmm... I think you missed the main point of an Mi 9 SE owner:
0. SIZE: Mi 9T >> Mi 9 SE, which is the best relatively compact Android with best price/value ratio
1.-13. mostly similar
Winner is Mi 9 SE. If you prefer oven pans -> Mi 9T
mi9se more sexy and compact

Say "cheese", then rate this thread to express how photos taken with the Xiaomi Mi A2 come out. A higher rating indicates that photos offer rich color (without over-saturating), sharp detail (with all subjects in-focus), and appropriate exposure (with even lighting).
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
The camera (software) of the Mi A2 is once again a disappointment, Xiaomi still isn't even close to the competition.
Here's a medium/low light composition (100% crop) taken with my old Redmi Note 3 Pro (Samsung Sensor) and the Mi A2.
I've taken more samples with the A2, hoping for better sharpness and contrast and selected the best ones - but only that single image on the Redmi Note 3 Pro.
The Redmi Note 3 (as well as the Note 4X and Mi A1 with Google HDR+ Camera) easily outperform the Mi A2 in a few hundred shots I've taken so far in all situations, except for:
- Daylight action shots (still close but in most situations the shorter aperture helps)
- Extremely low light (the Redmi Note 3 still has the edge on sharpness and focus accuracy, but the A2 wins with a bit less noise and better contrast / dynamic range)

That sounds like my experience as well. I'm currently comparing this phone (for my dad) against my Nexus 5X, and straight out of the box images even with HDR just can't be compared.
However, I specifically bought this device for the price point + androidOne combo. With the google camera port and camera2api enabled, this is just about on-par with the Nexus 5X. I'd almost consider getting this for myself!
I noticed in your Redmi sample, you had used a google cam port. Try a google cam port on the A2, it's quite the improvement. I'll have opportunity to post some samples in the next few days, since I just got the A2 yesterday
Photo samples below:
Mi A2 Test Photos [Google Camera Port]
Particular characteristics noticed:
- autofocus isn't always on-point if you just shoot from the hip (aka double-tap power, then immediately single tap volume button); for best results you should wait like a second to lock focus
- some google camera ports allow you to tweak highlight and shadow saturation; explore around!
- colours aren't 100% accurate, but could just be a simple white-balance adjustment in snapseed, etc.
Front camera is better than rear camera
Why is the rear camera produces 8mp pictures? I just opened the camera app and took the shot.

Maby you are on "low quality" mode.
Go to the camera settings and select the "high quality" option.
Both cameras have its own settings, so if you want to change the resolution of the frontal camera, you are gonna have to swipe to that camera and then acces to the settings.
I hope it works

No, it was on high quality. Changing it to 4:3 fixed it and made the photos produced to 12mp instead of 8mp.

Why is the potrait mode resolution on my mi a2 is 16mp and 20mp....i thought the camera resolution is 12mp on the primary camera
Why there is so much difference between mia1 portrait and mia2 portrait ? i like mi a1 blur co'z they look close to natural like dslr blur and a2 blur seems to artificial why?
Some amazing shots with the stock cam:

Honest review: I agree with @Benjamin_L
My previous phone was Redmi 3S. With Google Camera it produced more sharper images than Mi A2 with Google Camera. It looks like there's some kind of pixel binning thing happening even with the primary sensor. Edges are not crisp/sharp. Dynamic range is good though with GCam ports in every phone it no longer matters.
Only place where it wins from other phones is its low light performance due to the aperture. Otherwise the camera is not really that great, as speculated in every blog. Sure, in stock camera comparisons with other phones, Mi A2 is the better one. However once we move to GCam, other phones are at par with Mi A2, in fact better, in Daylight.
Mi 9 tested by DxOMark records 4K video by default. It scores significantly higher for video texture and detail than other smartphones whose video quality is tested in 1080P . As a result, Mi 9 gets the highest score in the video part. Today the retail unit of Mi 9 receives software updates to change default video recording setting from 1080P to 4K.

Xiaomi cheats in the DxOMark video test for Mi 9. Dxomark only test the default setting of smartphone cameras. And the phone tested by DxOMark records 4K video by default. However, the phone sold to consumers records 1080P video by default. Because of this, it scores significantly higher for video texture and detail than other smartphones. As a result, Mi 9 gets the highest score in the video part. A vlogger in China went to Xiaomi store to check the default video recording setting for Mi 9. It showed clearly that the default setting is 1080p instead of 4k.

Quote from article:- "In terms of video, (slow motion at 960fps available) the Mi 9 manages to surprise - the default recording in 4K produces great details even when shooting indoors."
I can only speak, based on what I have read, until I see evidence that states otherwise, I choose to believe Xiaomi & the reviewers, I understand I may be proven wrong...
Tgey still are people which trust DxO?
The camera seems to be still on par even with the S10 or the iPhone XR - for half the price, we shouldn't forget that.

Last week I watched a H265 4K MKV movie on the MI9T. So H265 is definitely supported.

The thing is that Xiaomi uses two displays, one it's a Super Amoled, the other one it's Amoled. You can see on this page:
https://www.mi.com/es/mi-9-t/specs/
One it's the same as Mi 9, Mix 3, 9 Se, etc.
The other who knows. So I think that maybe it's the reason that it's not listed as super Amoled, you might get the other one.

H265 playback on the 9T it's available.

Thanks for the feedbacks, sometimes xiaomi doesn't list the full specs for some reason. And about the AMOLED screens, I personally think the one in the 9T is not a Samsung one, it was probably a cheaper AMOLED screen for xiaomi to put in the phone, I could be wrong though.

Hmm, maybe you should read this. It's the same I just said, but better explained.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/com..._and/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share
Tl;dr: they are using both, as the site lists two screens.
Xiaomi mi9t, has better screen then mi9, more bright on sunlight, that was confirmed on some reviews
Hey, I have a question, should I choose the Xiaomi mi a3 over the huawei p20 ? I'm focus on cameras (both) and color reproduction on the screen.
HW is probably better on Huawei. But I would still take A3 because of EMUI, unlockable bootloader and late updates on Huawei.
For hardware, P20 has some key features which make it a little more appealing on paper.
*OIS on main camera (it makes a big difference)
*Display colour reproduction is much better with average deltaE of about 2.2.
*Performance is better in raw numbers.
But if it were me I'd still go for the A3 for the following points
*AMOLED screen (I'd take it any day)
*Camera software (Stock Mi Cam is ****, slap in the Gcam magic and you'll get the best shots you've seen out of a smartphone imo)
*Stock android, EMUI always bugged me.
*Less intrusive notch and way better battery.
*Support for Wide Colour gamut (NTSC) which will natively enabled in upcoming android 10 update.
Considerr Motorola One Vision :
* hi resolution FullHD+ screen, very clear, very nice (no sh1tty low-res pentile screen)
* no PWM for screen dimming, uses DC dimming
* OIS optical stabilisation for camera ( = long exposure, night photos look like shoot during day )
* NFC
* water splash certification
* 3.5mm jack
* and of course Android One
PS: color reproduction on MI A3 screen is NONEXISTENT, it is massively oversaturated, red color intensity is disturbing
P20 is expensive right, so why not go for the oneplus 7t ?
Hi guys. I've been looking at phones for a while. Cause I needed a new phone.
Mi A3 is my first priority. Mi A3 has a 48mp sony imx586 sensor on main camera.
Xiaomi mi9t has almost the same sensor too (imx582 (only difference is 4k fps rating) )
I examined and compared the camera of mi a3 and mi9t. and some other phones which has imx586 or imx582 sensor. I see an obvious difference quality. What could be the reason of this difference and can i do something for improve MI A3 camera quality as good as MI9T?
And there is an other difference too. Slow motion recording. Mia3 can record 240fps video at 720p and Mi9T can record 960fps video at 720p and 1080p. why this difference stems.
After all if I used wrong words for this thread I am sorry for my English.
Mi 9t front camera is awful.
586 and 582 are same sensors, 582 just has better videos features. As far as camera quality goes mi9t has sd 730 and mia3 has sd 665, there is a image processor in mobile soc's and the one on sd 730 is better, means it will process the images better. Although the main thing that differs in photos in colors and dynamic range which is highly controlled by software so as mi9t is expensive its software processing is better but better software processing can also be achieved on mi a3 by installing google camera, as of now we don't have any mia3 specific google cam but soon we will get it hopefully.

okay I get it. This is because of proccessor. Does this mean that google camera is more stable than stock camera as processing photos? Because result photos are better than stock camera.
