Can someone PM me or post here a link to the up-to-date (latest) XFinity/Comcast Stream APK on an up-to-date Shield device. Thanks
Is there even one ?
Is there an up to date Xfinity APK for Nvidia shield?
If you could send me a link that would be clutch
me too
I would also be interested in any news regarding this.
Guys, I will try to post it tonight.
I was getting it off my tablet last night to load it on the Shield, but had SMB issues!
I had internet only with xfinity for the past 2 years (250Mbps), but they called me yesterday offering 400Mbps & basic cable for $5 more. Went into the Play Store looking for an app to of course realize that they still don't have an Android TV app.
Guys, download from link:
https://1drv.ms/u/s!AhgCSTU-Ytq0gZ9DkUfqXPxa0Q3-Yg?e=tXVyHP
Again, this is not downloaded from some apk website. It is from my rooted tablet, downloaded from the play store, so safe.
I have not tried it on the Shield yet!

Alright, it's a no go. Any stream (live TV, on demand etc) ends with a "We're sorry, this video stream is not playable on the current device conditions. Please disconnect any external devices and try again".
This is obviously Comcast being Comcast, forcing us to rent their X1 platform. So the only alternative is to download each individual apps and log them through Xfinity. Well, I at least got 400mbps for $5 extra, doesn't look like I am gonna enjoy much cable TV, reason I got rid of it in the first place anyways...
Let me know if you manage to make it work.

Have it working on jetstream. You have to change tv settings on android TV box. Hides hdmi no root no mod. It took me a while but I figured out a solution. Hope it works for you

Its not the app you have to change tv settings on your box should be hdmi cec switch turn on and then playback hdmi self adaption totle mode. It should work. It's working for me
I'd like to just comment that I got this working perfectly. After finally rooting my 2017 16GB shield, I had to reinstall everything.
I was receiving an error about an app not being associated when I would attempt to sign in. The issue turned out to simply be that I required a browser.
So I installed puffin and now it's all logged in and working fine!
UPDATE: Scratch that. It complains about issues with screen mirroring etc. Tried disabling chromecast etc. but to no avail, and there is no options for the nvidia shield as stated above to fix.
You can find patched and working with HDMI version 6.2.2 in this Post
Also icon shortcut is Here
Hopefully updates coming for it too.
.
Here's the latest HDMI fixed version, just be sure to uninstall the previous one if it says failed to install. For anyone who has never installed it before, you need to have a compatible web browser (sideloaded google chrome, puffin, firefox) and some way to control the mouse pointer (game controller, usb/bluetooth mouse, mouse toggle app) to sign in to your xfinity account. * These are only needed for installation - the app works fine with a remote control*

I usually force stop the stream app in Android App settings and then clear cache and data under the storage menu for it as well, if that doesn't work then use a file manager and delete the whole folder named Xfinity stream and then reinstall.

nevermind . all good.
works great once you sign in to amazon via web browser on phone, amazon app then works. i think you sort of have to trigger it . Prime video testing w/random tv show. Pretty Smooth quality. Not spotless (Netflix better in quality) but well take it.

amazon instant videos apk can be found here ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19409230&postcount=10
scan with your phone, install, and enjoy!
confirmed working on my Note as well. When you first browse in the app, it asks you to purchase the content, click on that and it takes you to the login to your account screen. Once that's done, it gives you the free options to watch the videos!!
Quality is not netflix as stated, but damn near close
I keep getting 'Uknown error' every time I try and log in, it says your device is no longer configured correctly to Play Amazon videos, which I assume means 'we can see you have rooted your phone'
I get the same error on my rooted phone :-(
I'm getting the error "Your device is no longer configured correctly to play Amazon videos. You may purchase this video, but playback will be disabled on this device."
I know the Andriod Market won't play rented videos on rooted devices. Guess that goes for Amazon as well. I'll take root over any video service.
+1, but booooo @ this trend. Oh well, if they keep it up, devs will find a way around it
i am not rooted, but i have read about root keeper, or something like that. I don't have time to find it right now, but i will post later.
question anyone who has it working - can you pull up a play bar to fast forward to a part of a movie? i can't...
let me check...
---------- Post added at 12:18 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:15 PM ----------
it works only when you first start watching... and then as it starts you have about 10 seconds before the toggle disappears and you can't access it again.. if you stop watching, and go to rewatch, it asks if you want to start over or resume from last frame
I used OTA rootkeeper to temporarily remove root to get it working. I even tried the newest version of the ATV.apk I could find from the Fire's v6.2.2 firmware (v1.1.23).
I've noticed the same issue with the controls appearing as a video starts & then immediately vanishes. Then you can't get it back. All you can do is play the file all the way thru or pause (by closing the video with the back button and resuming playback. :banghead:

must use voodoo ota root keeper...free in market.
d/l. open ota. must backup root first!
then "temp unroot"
amazon then should work
return root when finished in amazon.
I'm not sure I get your logic. How can a rooted phone serve me better than a phone that will play Netflix, Hulu, and amazon videos, especially if I do use it often to watch videos?
Not trying to disagree with you, but what does rooting really do for you? Everything I read is about people having problems with their rooted devices. I'm a bit new at this , having just switched from IPhone, so go easy on me!

People have problems when rooted because they are not careful or do not know what they are doing. Rooting gives you (to put in Windows terms) full Administrator rights to your phone. With this right comes responsibility, so you must be careful and do research. This is why rooting also voids the warranty. The phone is now open for the user to do whatever they want, and circumvent any restrictions put on the phone by the manufacturer (including those in place to prevent harm to the device). But like a computer with Admin rights, rooting allows you to install any application, any "OS", and tweak the hardware to do what YOU want with it, not what the manufacturer wants.
As far as I know, streaming services like Netflix don't block rooted devices. But in a case like Amazon and Google, where you actually can download the video for rental or purchase, there is a chance that rooted devices can get access to these files and transfer them. This is not a possibility on non-rooted devices. Not to say this is completely technically true, but when the big movie companies are signing the deal with these services, in their mind any chance of piracy hurts the their revenue, and I am sure with Google and Amazon it was just part of the deal.

Here is the updated Time Warner Cable app for phones and tablets. To get my fix to work you must uninstall any previous twc app you have then install this one. If it denies you live tv because of root just use es file explorer and enable root and system access in settings of es file explorer. Then navigate to system then apps and rename superuser.apk to su.apk and reboot. The tablet version should bypass root checks. To get hdmi working start viewing live tv on your device (must be on home WiFi network) and when it is playing plug in your hdmi cable... Pic is attached to prove it works. I will attach the tablet version too in the next post. Enjoy guys and gals

Well at least I'm not alone lol.
This is Youtube's fault as they changed something and stopped supporting certain hardware. If you read the video that comes up in Xenozu it states something like this. As of now though they have not patched or updated the program, and I am not actually sure if they can or not as I am not knowledgeable about the exact details. The developers had a great app, so let's hope there is a way to update the code to have it still work with the changes Youtube implemented.

No root, if you are running on stock OS you need to sideload the tablet version because (at least in my case) the phone app won't show the remote button. Performance is very much ok
The FireTV version of the Slingbox player works the best IMHO because it supports full functionality of the Shield remotes and does not require use of the virtual remote the way that the Phone and Tablet apps do. My guess is because it was designed for a non-touch screen interface. It can be tricky to acquire but I side-loaded that apk and it works great at home and in the car. Just a suggestion!

Here are 3 versions, I have one that is untouched, one that has the amazon dependency removed, and one that has the amazon dependency removed and leanback code added. I still can't figure out what isn't loading properly at launch to handle the login process. I think amazon might have a deeper integration blocking the app from fully loading.

none of the attached apks work, anyone else got the Fire TV version working? (who doesn't currently own a fire TV)
I'm also looking for a working version of SlingPlayer for the shield tv. I don't have an amazon fire I tried all the attached apk's and none worked. I'm able to install them all and the versions in first link crash after logging in and trying to watch. The other version by Jerlash says I'm not the owner of the app so can't use it. The tablet version works decently but only with mouse and keyboard and when viewing the remote it only shows the top half of it.
Yeah there hasn't been a solid solution as of yet. The native Fire TV apk crashes after logging in, my hacked versions have this same issue.
Any news on this?
Any news?
this is kinda ridiculous and likely being held back to promote the abysmal Sling TV offering
Just so everyone is aware i got the to install and run on my shield tv but it would not show any video...just crash. it is silly that an android app built from the amazon fire tv that would clearly work on this box is blocked by some hooks in the apk... hope they release an app soon or i may just pickup a cheap fire stick just for sling
Now they removed the ability to cast from my phone to Android TV, I f*cking hate sling!

I hereby discontinue support for my Fire TV Guides and Apps. I've been a big fan of Fire TV devices for the last 2-3 years, but Amazon has now with each firmware further limited the possibilities of a configurable Android environment and even destroyed standard Android commands. This goes too far for me now.
I can recommend the following devices to anyone who wants to have a reasonable and much better Android TV experience, which I now use myself and am enthusiastic about:
Mi Box
Mi Box S
Sony Android TV (ATV3 platform, eg. XF7, XF8, XF9 or higher)

There is no error message. When I highlight the 'head' (account) button, or actually any of the left-most buttons, such as the right arrow button, file button or the head/account button, left side, then appears a 'Sign In" button in the center of the screen. When I tap on the 'Sign In', the app exits to the FireTV3 desktop.
If I go to the Settings button, left bottom when Youtube app is on screen, I can select "link with Wifi", . . . with TV code, but then I must go to my phone and open the YouTube app. If I use the phone method, it will work but only as long as the phone is on and 'linked'.
I have 'reset' the app, from within the YouTube settings menu, and that has no benefit.
App version is 4a5b8f63, device TV(Platform_detail-atv) . . . Android (7.1.2)

I'm afraid the app won't work under Fire OS 6. If you could create a logcat dump which includes the crash, I can have a look at it again.
Alternatively, try the latest Amazon YouTube app which shows a warning at the beginning, but then works as usual.

Or you can use this YouTube for Android TV app, so you can connect to your mobile phone via TV code without being logged in and use the app via smartphone (select, play, stop, etc.). However, you always have to start the app on the Fire TV first, then you can operate it with your mobile phone. An autostart and sign in doesn't work with this app without Google Play Services, but everything else works.

Thank you for the info. I will try the first option Youtube. I will send a logcat when install it on the FTV3 and I figure out how to run one there.
