Occasionally I have notifications where the text is overlapping as you can see in screenshot. I have only seen it on the Outlook notification. Has anyone else had this? I don't know if it is an Outlook-specific problem or something to do with this new ROM. On the previous Oreo ROM I didn't have any issues like this with Outlook notifications.
Just noticed this is happening for a Viber notification too
This happens to me as well after update on Adndroid Pie and it's not app specific, happens on Gmail notification too.
I had problems like this using Pie 30b for H930. And beyond that sometimes the last notification's text was becoming flattened, only going back to normal after a swipe down with finger, so annoying.
Seeing how much unpolished Pie is for now, I'm staying with Oreo 22p with May 2019 security patch on my H930ds. I will wait until a new improvement update for Pie gets release.
i have this problem too, H930
I'ts good to know it is not just me having this problem. I may try and go back to Oreo with the most recent security patch - the security updates were the main reason for me to update to Pie
I have downgraded back to Oreo via my TWRP backup. IMHO this Pie release is not mature enough for production release if it has issues like not being able to display notifications correctly.

So I have 322 the latest official 5.1 update for my mate 2.
At first the lockscreen crash was no more with CM locker, recently CM locker got updated and the problem returned... this is issue number one.
Issue number two is ever since I upgraded to the first test version, notifications for email applications like onetype, islamic prayer application, viber, etc... do not run in the background it would seem and I get no notifications of emails no push, etc...
Even the clock app, it dissapears from the notification area if I close it, so only way i can use my alarm before bed is if i leave the clock app open.
What's up with these issues and how do I fix them?
I don't use the default launcher I use nova
No one?
I have never heard of anyone else having these issues. The only thing I can think of is to either factory reset or wipe and re-flash the ROM, but those should be a last resort.
So I am still in the process of setting up my phone when I ran into this issue (at least for me it is) The only thing I want an actual notification sound for is my text messages..I have notifications setup for Twitter, Instagram and FB Messenger but I just want those notifications to appear in the bar silently. I can't seem to figure out how to stop the notification sound from happening for these notifications too. In the notification sound area in settings there is no option for silent. I get way too many social media notifications for there to be a sound every time.
Android OS issue / feature.
Now in the new OS, you have to Annoyingly go into each application, and set which application you allow it to alert (notification).
then usually in the same menu choose if silent or sound or vibrate

The in app settings are all set right, there should be no sound based off how I have those set. When I go to application manager notifications settings are as follow "Block"( Show no notifications from this app regardless of the notifications settings in the app) "silent"(Dont sound vibrate or appear on the screen regardless of the notification settings in the app) and "priority (let these notifications interrupt when do not disturb is set to priority only)
All of these dont seem to be what I want because it will also block the bar notification if I am understanding correctly.
it might be a bug with how the LG V30 is handling it.
I have the HTC U11 (planning to get the V30 as well) and it works properly as expected in the U11.
Maybe somebody else that already has a V30 on hand can confirm.
I'm waiting for the Carrier Unlocked version of the V30

I am testing out the silent option that I posted, it sounds like it would block everything but maybe I am just misunderstanding it.
The silent option I posted seems to have worked, I just misunderstood what it does. Thanks for the replies.
Maybe it's because many of applications haven't been adopted for Oreo yet, but I've tested a lot of apps - most of them fail to send local notifications. Maybe it has something to do with Mate 10 specifically. I don't have other Oreo devices unfortunately.
So, the story began from Tick-tick task manager. It works smooth on my Note 4, but I'm unable to make it work properly on Mate 10. I've set "ignore battery optimization" option for it, let it run in background and auto-launch, enabled priority notifications for it, blocked it in recent apps (the lock button), but with no luck - reminders just don't work. Then I tried a number of other task-managing apps (wunderlist, and others). Only one them worked (don't remember which one, really tested a lot). Found an app called "fake notifications" just to test the local notifications, set notification timeout for one minute, blocked the screen - no luck. Notifications only appear, if the apps are not closed after creating the notification.
Push notifications work properly (messengers, etc.). Looks like it has something to do with the local notifications specifically.

Maybe, I sound a little unemotional... so... I need my task manager working!

Very interesting. You're right. I have same issues.
Wondering if it's an Oreo problem in fact...

It looks like all of the problems with notifications not popping/widgets not updating etc are just caused by aggresive optimisation in EMUI 8: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/how-to/guide-huaweis-background-task-freezer-t3728298
So for, as I can see, there's no rootless solution.

New notification system ? "App icon badges" function is not the same as before
Hi everyone,
I am having a weird trouble with Galaxy S9+ notification system. The thing is, when I get new notifications (sms, facebook, whatsapp, etc.), I also get the number of new notifications on the icon of corresponding app. But when I clear my notifications from the notification tray (top of the screen), the badges on the app icon also disappear. It is kind of annoying for me, because sometimes I forget about new messages to which I decided to answer later, but wanted to clear my notification tray. My android version is 8.0.0 Oreo
Do you have the same problem, or it is just me ? Any solutions to this annoying function ?
Thanks

Well, as I understood, this is not the same on S8 or S7 with Oreo OS Maybe I'm wrong.
Nevertheless, it's still annoying. Would like to change it, if there is any chance

It's indeed very annoying. They shouldn't have messed with it, as it was working nicely

what launcher? Nova has settings for badges to get theirinfo from notifications or from tesla unread which gets unread info direct from the apps.

Hi All
Is there any solution for this ?
I updated my Note9 to Android 9, but problem still exists - when new e-mail arrives, I get badge notification on app icon.
But when I open e-mail app without reading new mail, this badge disappear, but I still have unread e-mails in inbox.
Is it any tool to bring back unread e-mails count ?
Thank you
Hello,
in Oreo I could just tap hold the text and disable the notification, iirc. In Pie I just get the info that notifications from this app can't be disabled (System UI). I tried System UI Tuner as well but it didn't work as well.
Did anybody achieve this already?
@ChazzMatt
Could you please drop some knowledge?
I have Do Not Disturb activated at all times so I don't need to be informed about it.
I stayed on stock rooted Oreo, so have no day to day knowledge of LG Pie quirks. Sorry.
However, on a similar note, I reverted back to older version of some apps (My Data Manager being one) -- where newer versions insisted upon putting an icon up in the notification bar area when they are running. That particular app runs all the time and I have a widget on my pull down bar which tells me my monthly data total at any moment. I know it's running in the background, but I don't want to see an icon all the time up in the area where NOTIFICATIONS go. Keeps making me think I have new mail, a new text, something....
Up until about the time Pie came out, I could manually disable the notification bar "badge". With updated versions of the app I could not. So, I reverted to older version from APK Mirror on mine, my wife's, my mother's phones and UNchecked auto update on Google Play for that app.
There's other apps where I stay on older versions for functionality reasons.
Thank you for your insights!
Seems like I should have stayed on Oreo.
On another note I fiddled around with Automagic and was able to hide notifications for the system app System-UI altogether, but that also hides some other notifications I'd like to keep. But it shows that it should be possible. In SystemUI Tuner you can add custom tweaks if you know the right variables and values. Maybe someone knows where one can find the right values.
The solution that I'm using now is setting a custom sleep duration via System UI Tuner to 9999 and only having to worry every few months about it.
Does anybody know what's the maximum duration?
