Hi !
Just picked up this big phone from Aliexpress and I want to put a custom ROM on it (preferrably Lollipop). I've searched the forums but can not find anyone that is doing anything related to this phone.. The specs are as below:
Processor - Octa-core 1.7 GHz Cortex-A53, Mediatek MT6752
GPU: Mali-T760
RAM: 2 GB
Internal Memory: 8 GB
It seems there are a couple of other models running on this processor (HTC Desire 626, 526G, 820s)...
Anyone working on anything related to this phone that I could try out ?

There's only one stock rom for this model now and I think it's for variant with 1GB RAM. It can be found on n e e d r o m . com
No custom roms yet.

No lollipop yet. But they have Flyme OS from Meizu as well as some other stuff in the link below. Be warned that most of the ROMS there are for the 1GB RAM version. And the whole forum is in Chinese. Have fun.

Can someone do for me backup of the stock rom from this 2GB Ram Version? I bricked my phone because I used this rom from needrom which is only for 1GB RAM version (there is no information about this on the top, after this I posted this info).
Please help me to get my phone working
Probably I need only A936 GW 2+8GB scatter file called MT6752_Android_scatter.txt extracted by "MtkDroidTools"- but to get this somebody need to backup the rom…

Hi Pavillo, all,
any luck with getting the 2g ROM?
I just received the device yesterday - it came somehow rooted with tons of CN bloatware, while MTK droid tools 2.5.3 was unable to access the root shell to make a backup. After few tweaks I made the su working (reinstate the superuser using the chanfire SuperSU + adbd insecure shell v2.0, but I'm not able to Create scatter file (button greyed out, probably unknown to the tool), what I see on the list is within attached jpg. Backup is I believe incomplete - console log>

--- In phone files will remain in the folder: /mnt/sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/150330-205606/
--- We keep blocks:
- nodl_proinfo - ERROR : Zero file, no space left on device!

--- We pack everything kept in archive: D:\temp\Lenovo\MtkDroidTools\backups\Lenovo-A936_141127_backup_150330-205606.zip
--- task end with ERROR ---
--- task is complete ---
I'm happy to create the dump, however seems I'm not savvy enough to prepare it using mtk droid tools.
I contacted the supplier to provide stock rom for this device, because with mine I'm not sure it wasn't somehow modified.
Regards, xPeca
I backup the firmware (VIBEUI_V2.0_1450_5.9.1_ST_A936_CU)

Thanks Yiminghung!
Edit:
I checked the scatter file against my partinfo and it seems to fit my 2g ram / 8g rom version!
Created a dd backup of my partitions to get the courage to replace the system partition from your dump - and it worked!
However the dump is CN version (no google play, no root, ton of bloatware) so I reverted successfully back to my original version..
I found this on the web, it's in three parts, but I was a bit loathed to fulfill the advert criteria before downloading it, so it's untested. I did message the dev to check it was dual SIM and he answered so it sounds legit. Would be good if someone could download the rom, combine the three parts and post it here?

Hi, imho this is a fake to earn money using the surveys, the whole page looks weird. I cross-checked the CN forum bbs.ydss.cn/forum-lenovo_note8-1.html and there is no lollipop rom, and I guess these guys are in front of the ROW.
Yeah, I was suspicious myself, could definitely be fake but I was very surprised to get a reply from the dev when I emailed him to ask if it would support dual SIM. That said I wasn't brave enough to fill in the ads! I'm just hoping someone can access those downloads without the ads.
What to do to download

Hi, use translate function in google chrome as I did . I managed myself to reply to some of the topics - just a single reply enables the download link- so ultimately got to the download; usually it points somewhere to pan.baidu.com ... but honestly not too much of a use unless we will get a recovery in other than CN language. I've posted the request for cwm also in that forum. However I suspect these ROMs will be CN only, while we need ROW version.

Hi all,
just to share my enthusiasm - I just got my Lenovo A936 (2g RAM/8g ROM) loaded with EN CWM recovery.
Prereq is rooted device (mine came rooted, I just switched the su app with my favorite SuperSU from chainfire) and adb (e.g. adb-setup-1.4.2.exe, could be found on xda forum).
Afterwards I used PhilZ Touch 6 Recovery executable v7 - it requested only to provide boot.img and recovery.img from my device that I created simply by adb & dd command.
After completing the setup automatically by the executable, voilla it rebooted into EN CWM recovery. Very simple!
I can dump my recovery and boot.img that might be of a good use to others.
Credit goes to yuweng!

It's the CWM recovery V6.0.5.1 that I port from PhilZ CWM recovery, It's the English version
download link: https://mega.co.nz/#!WMpCSayQ!Gwsrw5Fs2SEkcSNzQWukr9DeiUFIFmSWie9srod72FY

Download Link:https://mega.co.nz/#!HdAyDDqC!JBiNfzabP8JTljY7WmOBEW2_sST2Rxkr-exJcxpZRmw
Flash procedure:
1. Copy the zip to TF card

3. Wipe menu- wipe data + wipe cache + wipe dalvik cache
4. Install the rom -> install the zip from /storage/sdcard1
5. Found the zip rom and confirm
6. The phone will auto reboot after the zip rom flashed.
7. Good luck and enjoy it !
I just flashed the Philz recovery, works great! I used Philz auto installer from his post on the forum, all automatic and worked like a dream. Now going to install his recovery to my other mtk devices just so I have them all the same. Hoping someone will being out a lollipop ROM for the 1gb A936 soon, it can get a but laggy.

Most likely, the malware was caused by a required system app. Maybe the dialer, MMS, or search app? Whenever the app sweeps your phone to check and sees there is no malware app, it connects to a server and, unbeknownst to you, installs it as a system app.
Do you know the actual manufacturer? In antutu it would show Zen, Alps, Wen, Next, or another OEM name. If so, that helps a lot in recovering your OEM mtk phone.
Your phone is recognized by mtk droid tools right? If so, you should be able to go into recovery as well. Even make cwm which should help

No problem, I'm happy to help.
1. Is your phone still recognized when you plug it in to mtk droid tools?
2. Do you know what the actual manufacturer of your phone? If so, what?
3. What was the name of the file you deleted? (not needed, but it might help)

Yes , its does when i connect it to the droid tools it says in the message window,
Attention fake hardware in kernel or firmware doesn't correspond to phone
Attention File/system/Recovery-from-boot-p which restore factory recovery in case of phone
switching on in a normal mode is found.
also in left side menu the beside yellow light there is a message which says ,
S960c system/bin/su is found! Via root button it is possible to get root shell.
then when i press root button this message appears ,
to try to receive root shell through already established su .
I press yes to the button, after a while this error pop's up ,
Loss of communication with the device! the program will be closed.
I press OK then the software window is gone.
I am sorry, really don't know the actual manufacturer of the phone , i even did an tutu test but really , i only remember is the fake specs that mesmerized me a lot nothing else ,
The Files I deleted where Mediatek file , i bingo as the Anti Virus showed serious Malware in them.

The first "Attention" shouldn't matter, it's just reading the build.prop which claims that it is an MT6595 instead of an MT6572. The second "Attention" is more interesting. I've actually never seen that one before, but it seems like there was some error in the ROM, and (when there is) it defaults to booting to factory/stock recovery.

You may already have root, or it may not be there anymore. Try opening adb (from the adb button) and type:
Code:
adb devices
If your phone is recognized, type:
Code:
adb shell
Then (if it works) type:
Code:
su
if you see a # sign right next to where you type, then you have root.

That's okay, it will just be harder to find information about your device firmware, not impossible though.

That should be fine... Mediatek files can be required or useless. Most of the time they only activate if you enter factory test mode. Since they had malware in them, they shouldn't be needed.

Have you removed any other files? Also, where was the file placed that you removed?

The mediatek file is the problem then. We need to figure out what exactly the file is and also whether it is a customised file or a generic. If it is generic, then we can just copy it from another MT6572 phone with the same screen aspect ratio. If it is customised, then we need to somehow recover the file, or just get a copy of the stock firmware from the manufacturer.
On a side note: have you tried pulling a copy of your stock ROM out using adb? It may be able to shine some light onto what exactly the file affected. If you can't, that's fine. We'll just move on

Okay, go into adb from mtk droid tools, and type:
Code:
adb shell
Then (once it connects) type:
Code:
su
Now you have root. Next type this:
Code:
cat /proc/partitions
To find out which partition contains your system.img, your boot.img, and your data.img.
If none of the partitions say system or boot. Then make a copy of the partition list and upload it. We'll go from there.

This is what we're looking for. mmcblk0 is the entire device. it seems like mmcblk0p4 is the system.img as it is the largest partition within device mmcblk0.
use this:
Code:
cat dev/block/mmcblk0p4 /sdcard/system.img
Which should save your system partition as a .img file on your sdcard which, once transferred to your computer, you can open with the applications ext2read and ext2explore (both on sourceforge)
Repeat previous code, replacing mmcblk0p4 with: mmcblk0p6, mmcblk0p7, and mmcblk0p5. those should bring out your boot.img and your recovery.img at least. use the perl scripts I've attached to unpack those. the instructions are in the readme file.
You are gonna be hard pressed to learn android on a knock off device. No real developer will even touch it.

You could always just do a backup in mtk droid tools.
To do this,
1) connect your phone to the computer
2) open mtk droid tools
3) when the information shows up, click root button to get root shell (if you don't already have root shell). Then, click the root, backup, and recovery tab.
4) click backup. It is now starting to backup your phone. It doesn't matter if you pack it or not at the end.
All of the files should be in the mtk droid tools backup folder.

please help me if you are not busy, waiting for your reply.
I'm new to Android. My chinese JTY Model N111 (KT107) only has 1GB of RAM which e.g. causes choppy playback of iOS mov files.
Besides this it has lots of china chunk that can't be disabled properly
Therefore I'd like to use Roehsoft RAM-Expander (SWAP) which requires root.
My specs:
http://specdevice.com/showspec.php?id=00de-2520-ffff-fffff1109570
Mediathek MT6592, 8x ARM cortex A7 @2Ghz,
Device: Manufact JTY, Model N111 (KT107)
Kernel 3.10.72+
I'm currently trying this without success:
How to Root every MTK China Phone - Readback With SP-Flash - Root + CWM on INEW V8 [HD]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s66e-kwvKUU
I could solve these problems:
- PDAnet ADB driver didn't recognize device. I used VCOM usb driver for win 10 (worked)
- Mtk_Droid_Tool_v2.5.3 didn't recognize phone, I used MTKDROIDTOOLS-FIX-1.1 from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/fix-impossible-to-start-adb-error-t3582571 (worked)
However I've the following problems:
1. Error messages
--- ERROR : --- TotalBytesPerChunk Not Found. Set default Page/Spare=2048/64 !!!
ATTENTION! File /system/recovery-from-boot.p which restore factory recovery in case of phone switching on in a normal mode Is Found!
(see attachment)
I tried different MTKdroidtool versions from different sources, there is plenty of internal mem and SD card mem
2.
Blocks map displays create scatter file greyed out: I'm unable to create a scatter file to store my current rom on HD
3.
engineering mode: user2root missing
*#*#3646633#*#*
shows engineering mode but Log and Debugging there is user2root button!
I tried to update Engineering Mode from playstore without success
4.
A desparate trial of RootGenius_en_3.1.3 caused me an unable to root error.
--> What can I do to store my current rom on a laptop to restore it if something happens?
--> How can I gain root access for my device?
--> Is there a faster alternative to add some RAM than with Roehsoft RAM-Expander?
Thank you very much for your help!
I found out that it's actually MT6580 and not MT6592.
I created a scatter file by Miracle Box 2.58 and read the ROM to HD
MTK root attempt with Miracle Box failed.
However using SP_Flash_Tool_v5.1824 I could not read back rom with scatter file from miracle box:
Mtk_Droid_Tool_v2.5.3 reported an error if I try to process file ROM_ from flash Tool.
Read back Rom from Miracle box apparently worked. How can I use this to root my device?

Good afternoon
It shows that you know a lot about the subject, I have the same tablet but wanting to put another ROM delete the entire system and now it does not turn on or anything, only the PC recognizes it in preloader. Do you have the Rom? Could you provide it to me to try to recover my tablet? I would thank you infinitely.
The only ROM I have found is this https: // w ww.needrom.com/download/jty-kt107/ But it needs a premium user and has not let me join.
I have searched the ROM everywhere and it is not there, I have tried to flash ROMs with similar characteristics and nothing works. You would help me a lot if you can do this, thank you and I await your response, happy day.

i'm late to the game. but i'm too in need for new firmware for my JTY-k107. Android 4.4 does not play nicely these days. i'm not willing to purchase needrom premium membership for one file that has little probability to even work.
