The phone wouldn't hold a charge so I swapped the battery with a new one and everything seemed ok, but now when I try to take a photo the phone shuts down and won't start until I plug it into the charger, the problem seems to happen with any camera app I tested (stock, gcam & Instagram) and not even flashing a different ROM fixed it (was using lineage and flashed the stock Oreo ROM using RDS lite).
Has anyone faced this issue?

First off, this was a replacement handset, as soon as I got it I upgraded it to 2.3.6 rooted it and unlocked the bootloader. I then installed RomRacer's CWM. At this time I wiped phone through CWM and proceeded to install Aura (ROM) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1186990 everything went well and the phone booted up and that was that. I left the phone out all night and when I woke up I saw that the phone was asleep and wouldn't wake. No backups were restored so it isn't a corrupt backup. Phone kept doing it randomly and so I wiped it again and again to see if it would help but every time it would do the same. To cut the story short, I then completely wiped the rom off of the phone and installed nottachtix 1.2.9b..... and the same thing is still happening! I've tried different batteries just in case and nothing. What could be wrong here?
i had the same problem with neutrino 2.5...had to pull the battery to wake it up...have you tried any other roms like red pill or dark side? i am using neutrino 1.4-s with no wake issues...
Today it happened for the first time ever on my phone using cm7 weekly feb 20. I think I'm going to try out some other roms.
I just applied the wake with volume keys hack... so let's see what happens. I've only tried aura and nottachtix, but trying 2 different ROMS and having the same issue is making me think it might not be the ROMS

i never had the wake issue on miui either...could also be ghosts in the machine
i'm having this problem too. both on stock rom and custom rom (mrom) so i'm thinking its not the rom it has to be something else
I'm getting the same thing using the newest CM 10.1 build by epinter, released today.
If I play music, and then put the screen to sleep, the music keeps playing, but I cannot wake up the screen using the power or volume keys. I have to pull the battery to reboot.
I disabled all volume mods I could find (wake on vol, skip tracks, etc), but same result in two different music players (apollo, mixzing), can't wake while music playing.
I don't think I had that issue on other roms (beanstalk, avatar) but i think those use an older kernel (2.X), whereas CM 10.1 uses the alpha 3.1 kernel. Using beanstalk was almost perfect, but for some reason Mixzing on beanstalk couldn't contact its servers to build playlists (and ads), which I really need.

EDIT: looks like it might have been bad installs, all above mentioned issues now working in the various roms.
since new camera never worked i upgraded stock firmware made a factory reset but the problem is still there, the camera keeps a black screen freezes, buttons dont work and sometimes it says "camera fail"
would it be a hardware issue?
The camera should work with stock (out-of-the-box) firmware. You did the right thing and flashed newer firmware and also factory reset.
That should have fixed it if it was firmware issue...........
Rooting and installing any custom firmware would be a waste of time.
It's obviously a hardware issue, so re-flash the original firmware and return it for replacement asap.

Hi, I have bit different symptoms.
My back camera is working fine but I have problems with my front camera.
When I use my front camera it shows very darker screen than other GS3.
Also, when I want to switch from front to back camera it lags and switches after 5 seconds.
Sometimes it gives me error message when switching and it kicks me out to the home screen.
I don't know what is wrong.
I did the factory reset and the symptoms were still there.
When I reflashe the phone the symptoms are gone but it appears later.
I thought it was caused by one of the apps so deleted all the apps I have one by one.
Did not work out.
Will this be a hardware problem?

My phone suddenly switched off during normal usage mainly when I made a call, use whatsapp and many more stages. I made this video after first switch off then after every time I switch it on phone goes to some stand by mode or switch off. I had used miui rom 4.1.2 and now xonami 4.1.2 unofficial rom, but still no change. Only after I reinsert battery, the issue resolves for couple of days only

Have u tried using another battery? I suspect your battery cant hold it voltage anymore or maybe there is short voltage burst?

First, I noticed my OPX Camera takes maybe 2-3 secs to launch, and when I try to switch from front to back camera or vice versa, it would freeze for a good 5 seconds before actually switching. My gf just started using her OPX and it didn't have that problem. But she also updated to 2.1.3X and Im on 2.1.3 but I get the feeling it's not an issue with the OOS version Im on... any idea?
Also Camera MX stopped working, It just crashes upon opening so Im back to google camera.

Since about a month all my cameras (front/rear/wide angle) have stopped working.
If i launch the camera app, the app freezes and the screen stays black, if i try to switch the cameras nothing happens, If i go into the service menu and try camera related tests the phone also hangs.
I also tried using gcam and open camera, but the same thing happens.
The camera also doesn't work in social media apps like whatsapp, facebook, instagram.
So far i have tried flashing different custom roms, lineageos 16, 17.1 but the camera also doesn't work there.
Currently i'm using the stock rom (H85030a_00_OPEN_EU_OP_0910.kdz) that i have flashed with lg up, i also did a factory reset afterwards.
Any suggestions are welcome.
Downgrading to marshmellow fixed the problem
i flashed my phone back to oreo afterwards and everything still works fine
