I want to update my LG Phoenix 4 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I have the version 7.1.2 of android on my phoenix 4 and I want to update it to 8.1 but although the official update exists, my cell phone simply does not receive it because it is from at & t and I currently do not use at & t. Can anybody help me?

I too am trying to update and no longer in AT&T range. Even using LG Bridge, it comes back saying it can't determine version and won't update. I found some discussions that "Tec's Aristo 2 Tutorial's" should work for Phoenix 4, but those that have successfully rooted and/or installed new ROM seem to lose touchscreen functionality and even flashing stock back does not restore the touchscreen.
So seems it is close, but not close enough to risk turning it into a brick. Anyone out there have luck with updating this phone without connection to AT&T towers?

[Q] Advice: official gingerbread vs. home made

Hi, I'm a noob seeking advice. I rooted my phone a few weeks back just because I could, but haven't really done much with it since. I haven't upgraded from 2.2.1 yet -half because I've been busy and half because I'm shy about bugs.
My question is: since LG claims it's going to release the official upgrade this month, what are the advantages of official upgrade versus unofficial? It seems like every unofficial one has bugs still, so I'd be tempted to go back to official. Also, since I've already rooted it, I'm under the impression that kills official updates. If I want to go back to the official version, would I have to unroot it first or is there a way to just allow the official update to go through?

About the 2.3 official update, everyone is waiting for that, since 2.3 unoficial Roms have bugs and unimplemented features. For example, I love the CyanogenMod rom but I had to gave up on it since the the bluetooth is not working for auriculars and for the bluetooth system on my car. The 2.3 official update will solve all the problems for these current unoficial Roms, so if you really need a fully working Rom, better not go for those 2.3 Roms available.
You should not upgrade to 2.2.1 (or 2.2.2) using the regular LG update method. That will "unroot" your phone. There are 2.2.1 and 2.2.2 official unrooted Roms (just google for that, you will find them pretty easy). In that case you won't use the KDZ method but the safer Android Recovery method (avoid using the KDZ!! it's the easiest way to kill your phone!!).
So... if you just want to "unroot" your phone, you can always get the official update back in your phone, by using the KDZ method. KDZ reflashes your phone, and that's why the risk is higher than using the Android Recovery method which one wipes out some things like /system/*
mix em both and they will shine...I hope LG's release sky rocket's mik CM7 rom and then i will permanently switch to CM...they simply rock..

That's exactly why I haven't gone for it yet. That and I've heard the GPS is still buggy.

I already had the official 2.2.1 before I rooted with GingerBreak, and haven't changed from that. I thought that rooting the phone would automatically block the OTA updates. Is there a way to simply allow the OTA 2.3 update when it comes?
As for kdz versus Android Recovery, everything I've seen around the web for returning to stock says to flash using kdz. Are you talking about using home+vol down+power?

You can't upgrade if you're rooted, you'll have to flash a KDZ back to 12b and update from there. Opinions will vary, but i was rooted and xposed on 4.4.2, when i upgraded to 5.0 it took me about an hour to flash my KDZ back to 12b because i was unhappy with it overall. You can root 5.0 and their is a very alpha version of xposed out that needs to be flashed from a recovery and only about 30 modules or so at this point that are working. Sorry I can supply anymore info but this may help bump attention to get the rest of your answers.
One last note is if you dont mind the factory resets, and if you go with a KDZ, once everythings set up it takes less than a few minutes to flash the KDZ from a computer with the phone in download mode, so if you're not happy you can jump back to 4.4.2 if you'd like.
Thanks, im wonder why you was unhappy for and thanks for the heads up. I dont mind factory reset my phone and the whole nine yards. But before i go and get android 5 i want to know how good or bad it is and hope it answers my questions
I also forgot one more question. Has xprivacy got an update that it fully works on android 5. Ever since i was told about it i loved it. I tried useing cm12 or 13 forgot what cm h3ld android 5. But i tried to install it and it notified me it didnt support lollipop if it dose i might be thinking of xsposed framework

Pardon my ignorance (I'm good with HTC and Samsung device terms, but not so much on LG), but what is KDZ and is there instructions for doing what you explain somewhere on XDA?
I only ask as my wife has a G3 with Verizon that is stock Kit Kat, rooted and bumped. I am interested in knowing how to get her phone on stock lollipop.

Hi there guys,
Its been awhile since I've rooted a phone so my memory is rusty on a few things.
Firstly, I think I read somewhere in a tutorial that the OS I originally download the stuff to has to be windows based?
Then I have a few more questions,.
I upgraded to lollipop already but I dont think that will be issue, unless you say otherwise.
The alpha came out on the official release list for marshmallow.
Will the root interfere with my phones ability to receive that update?
Thanks!

No on the second question. Ive rooted my alpha on KK and when i try to manually search for update it says the system is modified and doesnt proceed to finding updates OTA.
I Just Run Same backup Command in Cent OS, I mean I didn't change the Date As Per we have to change... And after that I run Again Same command with current date. So it's that any effect on my Samba Server?

I couldn't get the OTA update too but It was for a different reason. I bought an Att and put it on t mobile right away. The OTA update came from Att's servers or whatnot. I brought my phone into the samsung stall at a bestbuy and they pushed the update through their. Have you tried something like that for yourself?

Need help upgrading to MM (beta or official) TL01H

Hi there folks. I got my Huawei Honor 7 phone for two months ago and I'm loving it, currently rooted it and everything except being unable to install Xposed on it, which I'll get to soon.
Now, the main problem is that I'm unable to update my phone in any way, not via the Updater app nor Local update, so I'm kinda stuck. (Wanting to download the YODA ROM 6.0 B250 to install Xposed with)
Is there some problem with it being the Chinese model? I currently have B173 installed and I assume I can't download an European update.app and upgrade it or? Do I need to debrand it? How?
Need some serious help, everything is confusing at the moment.
EDIT: Fixed with downgrading, suddenly got to upgrade via the OTA then!

LG VS450PP2 Exceed 2: Looking for Lollipop or Marshmallow ROM

Hey folks-
I use this phone strictly for music and wifi, and I do not have Verizon service on it. Version says they can't help me update it to a newer Android build because it's not an activated phone on their network. I'm familiar enough with flashing ROMs on this phone, but cannot locate a newer (non-stock) build. Does it exist?
Thanks
Rob
