Can I get data working on my T-mobile sim for straight talk?
Hey guys, I was on the phone with straight talk and I got someone who could finally get an issue fixed, Well kinda.
Let me give you some background, I bought an ATT SIM off ebay for $50(Well so I thought) and it turned out to be a T-Mobile sim.
My phone itself works I can make calls and send texts but my reception is not so great. I had no data or MMS for the past month (Since I got the phone.)
I've called straight talk a few times with no luck But I was able to talk to someone that knew something. Turnes out I have a T-moble sim and my phone can't get data, It will just redirect to androidapi.t-mobile.com/apppack/mvno.html .
He asked me what color my sim was and I thought it was kinda weird but my sim was pink, He said thats a t-mobile sim and the ATT sims are blue, He also told me that stuff like this happens all the time and I would have to re-buy an ATT sim.
I opened a dispute on ebay for my money back but no response yet.
With this being said can I get data working on my T-mobile sim for straight talk or am I ****ed?
Thanks.

Sims are only $15 for straight talk. Hope you got minutes with it. Since it is T-mobile you will have to sim unlock your phone. Either call ATT and get the unlock code, pay a third party, or root your phone and follow crixley's guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2124544 to unlock your phone for free. After the phone is unlocked you may need to enter your APN info and/or install another modem to get full data speed on the T-mobile network.
I currently have a Sprint HTC 4g LTE. It is rooted, boot loader is unlocked, and it is S-Off. I'm currently using Sprint. However, I was thinking about switching to Straight Talk. They said they would have no problem putting my phone on their network. However, I pretty confident that when they put my phone on Straight Talk, I will still be using Sprints towers. Is there a way to request or flash my phone where I can use this Sprint phone on a the Verizon towers since they both use CDMA? Any help or guidance would be much appreciated. Thanks.

OR Verizon Pre-paid are other options. StraightTalk is Sprint only I believe.
I've flashed mine to Verizon Pre-paid and haven't looked back. Everything works perfectly. You will need to download a voicemail app (I use YouMail) and configure your MMS protocols (there's a tutorial in the General thread if you search Verizon MMS).

Thanks for the information, but Straight Talk actually uses all major phone providers, At&t, T-Mobile, Sprint, and Verizon towers. In order to access those towers though, you have to have a phone from that company so that is my dilemma of trying to get a Sprint phone to work on a Verizon network. I looked at the tutorial that you are refereeing to. I'm not 100% sure this will work for me or not since I want to use straight talk.
Hey guys, I'm trying to bring my VZW LG G3 to Straight Talk as I'm sick of Verizon's outrageous charges. I bought an activation kit at Walmart because their compatibility checker said it would work, and so did most other people when I did a Google search. I tried using the CDMA LTE SIM, but it said the SIM was incorrect. So I used the AT&T SIM and got voice working, but couldn't get data even with the proper APN setups. So I called ST and they said it's not compatible, but I know it is because VZW phones are unlocked by default, right? They also claim there is no service where I live but I have friends on ST very close to me who do have service, also ATT and TMO are both here as well as VZW. Am I doing something wrong?? I switched to the TMO SIM but now I can't make a call, they say my account is restricted.

Are you trying to port your number over from VZW or using whatever number Straight talk gives you? Are you rebooting after you entered and saved the APN? Also are you stock, or on a custom ROM?
Calling ST is like going to a phone a phonebook, picking a random person and calling them for help. Actually calling a random person might get you better support.

What is the APN you are putting in for the AT&T SIM?

Ting on Atrix 4G
Hello everybody,
I've signed up for Ting, a better alternative to StraightTalk I believed. I tried everything I could think of to make Ting's SIM card work with CyanogenMod 11 on my Atrix, no such luck. I then flashed back to the stock rom, reluctantly, thinking I would be able to make the SIM work before flashing back to Cyanogen. This is also a failure, so it seems like to me that Ting will never work on my Atrix.
I cannot make calls, there is no Mobile Network it states. I don't care about data or messaging, all I need is for the voice to work. I've tried numerous APNs and nothing is working.
Anyone else out there running Ting on their Atrix? I'm not one to quit so after 2 days straight of this I'm ready to throw the phone against a brick wall to force myself to stop working on this lost cause.
Appreciate anyone with any insight to offer. Thanks
TracFone's SIMs also don't work on the Atrix. They are deliberately locked down to work in their own devices ONLY.
I got a used Verizon S7 edge and activated it last night on my Straight Talk line with a BYOP Verizon Compatible Sim Card. I checked the phone before purchasing and it said it was fully compatible. Data and calling seem to be working fine (though DATA could be running a bit slow - I haven't really played around with it a ton.) But I'm having trouble with text messaging. The text message just pends and then eventually fails and it will give me an error about not having service and that the message will be sent when I have service. While it does this it's showing 4G LTE bars as normal. I've gotten a few messages and sent a few but they're very few and far between, and very unpredictable.
I got on Straight Talk chat and they tried a couple things but said I needed to call. I don't know if I'll be able to call them until tomorrow so I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas I could try in the meantime? I work all night tonight at my 2nd job and I think it's draining my battery constantly searching for service.
Any ideas? TIA!

There is a new apn not the old straight talk one. My family member had the same issue with his att one. But also. Idk if you have a Verizon SIM from straight talk. I know Verizon uses cdma and Sprint and att use gsm, so if your phone for example from Verizon and you use a att sim. Will not work or if you have an att phone and a Verizon SIM will not work. If you have a Verizon phone and a Verizon SIM from straight talk. I'm pretty sure its the apn setting
