Kill XiaoMi Service Framework - Xiaomi Poco F1 Questions & Answers

MIUI is really a gud rom as far as stability, battery life, network reception is concerned, bt their backdoor personal data delivery is a pain in the @$$.
#Has anyone with 10.3.6.0 tried the below magisk module?
Kill XiaoMi Service Framework
https://github.com/AskQi/Kill-XiaoMi-Service-Framework
#Does this really work, there r many among us that literally never use a single mi service e.g. mi cloud, miui account, mi find device etc.
Plz revert.
Thanks a ton.

google-ectomy, possible?

Hi all.
I have a rooted phone that is used strictly in wifi mode and only needs to be able to run 4 or 5 standard aps, a couple of optional aps, plus the aps that support rooted phones and enhanced power management. I don't want google-anything on it, and I am not kidding. My prime concern is battery life, I hope to be able to run my phone for 3 to 4 days (or more) between charges, so deleting all fluff aps and crapware is important, as is underclocking it and getting rid of google. I also want to stop updating of the operating system and installed software by google.
I hope to do a hardware mod to remove power from the cell band rf transceiver. Despite it being turned off in the phone using software, I am detecting occasional transmissions from the cell band transmitter. Hardware mods are not a problem for me, I'm a retired EE, who specialized in RF design.
I need to know if it's possible for the phone to function if gmail, google+, google search, chrome, google calendar and google-whatever are exhorsized (uninstalled)? Yes, I also want to give the playstore the boot, to prevent excessive battery drain (and, yes, I do realize downloading aps will be slightly more difficult without the playstore).
For those who might be interested, the phone is used as a wifi phone for the home based Ooma telephone service. I also might like to run a mini bittorrent server. It seems to me that the android community could use bittorrent in place of the playstore, thus making it easier for others to give google and google playstore the boot
I love this forum, and want to thank all those that support and administer it.

There are threads all over the place trying to do this. Google is deeply ingrained into all the apks used by the os. You will be very hard pressed to find away to remove them completely and still have things work right.
I agree that security is an illusion. I dumped Microshaft in 2013 in order to improve my security and privacy.
However, the android operating system is supposed to be open source, so it should be possible to de-google-ize it IF someone knows how to edit and recompile the android OS.
I was merely asking if anyone knew of a way to give google the boot, even if it came down to paying someone to compile a custom rom.
The loss of google playstore is not a consideration, neither is a monetary forfeiture (any programmers out there?).
I'm curious, is it possible to gag google so it can't connect to the outside world (with a firewall)? We used to do this in XP to prevent Bill's Internet Explorer from downloading updates.
Are any of the custom roms currently available able to run without google-anything??
Is there any hope, or is it truly hopeless? If a custom rom that gave google the boot was available, how many would pay a small fee to have it? Just curious??!!

There is one project that is working on removing Google completely in the forums. A search will find it for you. There are some issues that I don't recall if they could find a way around or fix. You could give that a shot.

google location services alternatives

Hi everybody
I've just bought a new phone, Samsung galaxy xcover3,which I really like. I come from a rooted and quite modded ascend p6. I've a question regarding probably all android devices, especially the devices running kitkat.
Is there a way, WITHOUT ROOTING, to exclude google location services, using alternative services for network and wifi positioning?
I really don't like google's "big brother like" terms and conditions. I don't want to be forced to contribute to Google's wifi and cells mapping if I want to use a feature (wifi positioning) which I paid for and bought.
I'd like to choose what service to use (Mozilla location, or maybe the osm project), without rooting my device (there's also the warranty problem, but that's another story). I'm also getting frustrated with that popup saying "help google improve location services": I can flag "don't show this again" only if I agree, that's crazy.
What's your opinion about this, guys???

Android without google services?

Hello everybody
I wanna ask if someone has tried using LOS 7.1.2 or generally any other android rom without Gapps and google services
is MicroG really a good alternative for Gservices?
is battery life better? what are the most common problems with going away from google's way?
I tried searching for answers but to no avail unfortunately (or answers were really old)
U may can't use some features such as finding location and restoring contacts
I added a ss all of this features which may u won't use. Cuz those are connected to Google's services'
A system without GAPPS is totally fine and there are always many alternatives to compensate the loss and even can bring somewhat benefits to the handset.
Without GAPPS, your phone will have a significant better battery life than those who has the package installed.
Hope this explanation solved your problems once and for all.

The Outrageous unlock policy of Xiaomi

I recently bought a Pocophone with the idea of installing LineageOS. Actually, I was looking for models where I could install it, since I want to remove google and vendor bloat apps.
Just after unboxing it, I went to check how to unlock the bootloader, and I faced a really cumbersome process:
- Register an account, providing email, phone and wait an SMS to confirm.
- Login your phone and wait 72h with the phone powered on and Synced with MI cloud (wtf?)
- Download an unlock tool that only works in Windows. I'm a Linux user so I had to setup a VirtualBox VM to proceed.
I didn't want to use my brand new phone and add all my contacts and stuff and then Sync everything to Xiaomi servers. To me this looks like a data collection policy to get as much as they can from Google et al. forcing users to Sync with a long enough wait time window.
Why don't use a more user friendly process like Motorola and others do???
I totally regret choosing Xiaomi, and now I'm going to try to sell it just because of this.

Just use a 3rd party app to sync your data or just backup them. There are tons of apps on the PlayStore.
And about the unlocking procedure, this is just a standard procedure and it is for safety measures. Like confirming that your Xiaomi Model has bounded to its real model number because there are tons of fake and clone Mi Phones on the market and registering your phone on their servers that your phone model is unlocked. Good thing though that the unlocking for Poco is only for 3 Days, other models I heard is about 1-3 months.

To start with, even for Poco F1, the wait time was 3 months. Then they shortened that step by step and it is now 72 hours. The official explanation was that since the phone was not launched simultaneously in all the countries, some retail vendors (in countries where it was not then launched) bought the phone in bulk, unlocked the bootloader and installed various apps (in addition to the pre-installed bloatware) including malware and then sold them in retail. It was to avoid this and to ensure that a genuine owner is using the phone before allowing the unlock that they devised this method.
These all sound so horrible but I am still using my phone because motorola which you champion cannot build a decent phone like pocophone offers.
oppo and vivo didnt have ubl , asus and samsung void waranty, huawei not cheap to ubl.. thank god poco only have to wait 72h, you gibe ip ur privacy when usinh android, if u dont want data colection from vendor, use apple..

Redmi factory spyware: Do I need to flash custom ROM?

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 9s was my top choice for phone to buy until I today read the Forbes article about Xiaomi spywware (different from bloatware… it's send user behaviour data to Chinese servers about not just web use but even music, folders, status bar, app use…
Questions:
1. Do European firmware also have this problem?
2. Will community ROMs like LineageOS solve this problem?
3. Can modified hosts file solve this problem?
The problem is with Xiaomi browser, you can use another browser you trust (Firefox, Chrome, etc.) and forget the concerns. However, Xiaomi released an statement two weeks ago explaining the data collected and a way to disable it. (https://blog.mi.com/en/2020/05/02/l...onse-to-media-coverage-on-our-privacy-policy/)
If you are very concerned about your privacy, yes, a custom ROM will help, because most customs ROMs are built over open source projects and focused on protect your data and privacy. Note that the Redmi Note 9S is new on the market, so the community development isn't mature enough. Maybe you can choose the Redmi Note 8, with more time on the market and with more community development available. Another alternative are Xiaomi Mi A2 or Mi A3, they have the advantage to have Android One, so you get rid of Xiaomi Services -and possible spying- out of the box.
