Hello,
My warranty is over and i would like to root / change rom for better battery.
After oreo/marshmallow update i can use my phone only few hours. Got new battery from offical lg service but nothing changed. (Factory reset has been made)
Mostly i use my phone for audiobooks, texting/call, web and sometimes i play hearthstone.
To get better SoT what should i do ?
Stock rom with root and kernel tweaks
Stock rom with custom kernel
Custom rom with custom kernel
Or just simply downgrade ?

should i try to flash a custom rom or edit the official wan? i wan my phone to have good speed, eyecandy n good batery life.. i wan to try energy rom but i scared this brick my phone.. would flash a custom rom bricked the phone easily? anyone help pls
I've done both tweak the stock rom and then flashed a custom rom (energy stand 23xxx series) and to be honest i prefer the custom roms over tweaked stock, mainly because i find the energy roms to be more stable, even though i'm using a rom based around winmo 6.5.3.
It's actually not that easy to brick your phone but i would advise you do all the related reading first and i would also suggest you start off by tweaking the stock rom before you flash a custom one. It will give you the opportunity to learn what works and what you like first.
At the end of the day the choice is yours and your fellow users can only make suggestions on the direction you should take
i have been editing stock rom since long ago, n i knw wat i want so i decided to flash an energy rom soon.. thx =)
Hey Guys!
Just installed CWM onto my phone. I have one question as the title says. If I install the home base ROM, how do i later install the Stock ROM back without losing anything? Like CWM or the unlocked bootloader etc?
Would like to try out differenct kernels on my phone now. But I need to know whether i can go back to stock without losing anything.. Data / Apps would be fine.
Another question, which is the best kernel? Home base rom without any bloatware is the one I am thinking of getting into. Please advise.
Don't bother with home base. Development is dead and home base is based on out dated code. Your best bet is joker's ROMs and kernels. Skinny will give you a Sprint bloat free ROM while retaining all the core functionality of the stock moto ROM. For example, the stock music player gives you shoutcast and podcast support, this is retained in skinny.
Joker stock gives you a tuned, stock experience. Skinny gives you a light weight screamer. Skinny complete gives you all the improvements of skinny plus webtop+. Joker also has a ton of kernels to play with.
Hey loki. First of all i really appreciate your work out here
Ok so i'll have a look into jokers roms... but again if i wanna get back to stock by removing all the custom kernels?
like in title i flash this rom and its i think branded new ?? enybody used this rom?
I tried this, smooth performance and good battery life, roughly the same battery life as this ICS Build http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1465401 2-3 Days battery and it looks cooler
yes something like that. i used this rom olmoust 2 monts and its stable but i didn't find a root for this rom and i like to install on it cm7 or something else. i dont know howto make a custom rom. imnot developer ..
Hi guyz,
I have simple question here..Im using ST15I - unlocked - rooted- with custom kernel and ROM..I want to know that is it possible to flash a custom kernel and the stock rom..?
Is battery life depends on the kernel or the Rom.?
Because every custom ROM which I tested was good...but after few days it gave me problems like getting slow,Force close, freezing touch screen, stuck menu's,..etc.
So I wonder if there any chance to use a stock rom with a custom kernel for better performance..?
tnx
Sure, there is an option to use stock ROM and custom kernel, but they have to be compatible. I'm afraid any of CM kernels will work on stock ROM, but there's plenty of options - Lupus ICS, Extended stock kernel, MESA etc. And yes, battery life depends on kernel. Some of them are battery friendly, some of them not. But in general any custom kernel should work at least the same time as stock one (from my experience).
Bt battery life is also depended on ron, apps,3g, wifi and usage and a bunch of other things and yes depended on kernel too.
Yes stock rom and custom kernel can be done if they are compatible

Thank you gyz.....
Hi,
previously I was on Sony Xperia devices but now I switched to Samsung S9 +.
The first thing that struck me is the bad battery life.
I've been reading on how to solve this and I will at least do a full reset and clean install to see if this helps.
But if this does not help I want to know what to try next.
CUSTOM ROM
For what I have found the custom roms do not use the second camera and that's something I do not want to lose.
So are there Custom roms that keep the original functionality from the camera?
CUSTOM KERNEL
If installing a custom rom isn't the way to go, what about a customer kernel?
So far I found two of them
ElementalX
Nemesis
And there is one html with an explanation about the speed and battery usage of the Exynos chip.
https://www.anandtech.com/show/12620/improving-the-exynos-9810-galaxy-s9-part-2
There is speculation whether Samsung will do something about battery usage as there seems to be a solution if Samsung does some ROM changes.
For now I think installing a custom kernel is my best option but what about OTA.
Once rooted I will not receive them anymore, can I just download the now ROM from Samsung and install it over the existing one without resetting the phone?
And once the ROM is installed reinstall the custom kernel?
I'm open to other suggestions to improve battery life.
