Looking for a way for make lower the call sound - Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Questions & Answers

Hi, I'm trying to change the values on the call sound (especially on Whastapp), the reason it's because when i'm in a call, the sound is way to loud. I know there is a way to make lower, maybe changing values on mixer_paths.xml, but I'm not sure, hope you can help me.

good quility ringtones

whats the best way to get ringtones that sound good. im using and mp3 for ringtone and wav for sms, but they both dont sound so great, how can i get one that sounds better like the ones the phone comes with, like edit them to make them louder/smaller size etc...?
use mp3/wav of a decent bitrate, ive found sometimes converting it to mono helps, you can use a program called mp3gain to increse volume, but at some loss to quality
it's not a ringtone thing i'd say more of a speaker thing
the speaker in the pda is not stereo
so one can act get much much smaller ringtones by
making them mono and and change their samplerate to 11Khz
and 8bit they would sounds the same but take up much less room

[Q] Ringtone volume WAY too high on DFT LEO70 ROM. Fix?

Anybody know of a way to fix this, the volume level is ridiculously high! I have my volume level set to 1 (absolute lowest) and it's still loud as $#!!%, like so loud I get speaker distortion. Maybe a registry tweak can fix this, or will I have to wait for an updated ROM?
Try setting it to Highest then call yourself then set it to lowest then call yourself, then restart and hopefully it's fixed .
TBH I don't know what exactly did I do, but within the fixing procedures there were some calls to myself and some restartings
I tried a couple different combination's of this method, but no luck thus far. Any other ideas?

Full Customizable sound? HELP

What I am looking to do is to have the ability to change any sound that I want.
For example, lets say I want to change the low battery sound to a customer ringtone or notification sound that I have on my SD card.
But not just the battery sounds, but anything that comes up with some sort of sound on the entire phone.
Maybe there is an app?
idk, either way, can someone out there help me???

sound quality on recorded videos

Hi, any idea how to improve the sound quality on recorded videos.?
Did a test in a silent room and playback has a lot of crackling and background noise.
thanks in advance.
I have the same problem with video and also on sound recorder.
A search finds a few people have the same problem but no answer.
I have reported it to the Elephone Bugs & Problems Feedback and hope to hear from them as I like the phone but find the video unusable.
Fix
I found a way to fix this issue:
1. Type in the following on the dialer:
*#*#3646633#*#*
Now you are in Engineer Mode
2. Navigate to
Hardware Testing -> Audio -> Volume -> Audio Record
3. Under
Camera recording/ Receiver
change default value to 140-180
(you may need to try a couple of values to find the best for you, I chose 180)
This should remove backgroud cracklings and make sounds clear

Doesn’t work for me. I can’t find the sweet spot. All it does is make the background noise and crackling lauder or quieter.

Thank you, this works beautifully, there is still some background noise when listening on the phones speaker but is clear with headphones or on a PC.
I have also changed the Audio setting as I had the same problem with Sound Recorder.
Thank you again.

I just followed aovks instructions and changed the Camera recording/ Receiver setting to 180 (the original setting was 92).
As I had the same problem with Sound Recorder I changed the Camera recording drop down to Sound recording and set this to 180 (the original setting was 132).
There is still some background crackling noise with the phone speaker but the videos played back on headphones or another phone seem fine.
I think that there is still a problem with the phone speaker when playing videos but as the actual recordings are good I'm happy.
It may be worth trying a higher setting than 180 to see if it makes any improvement.

I'm happy I could help.
I came across this solution by looking at the value of Sound Recording, which is 132. Since sound recording had better quality than video recordings I first changed it to 132 and then tried some other values.
Maximum value is 252. I have tried multiple values between original 92 and maximum 252.
For me it seemed that for values above ~200 the sound starts to overdrive.
As said, by my personal impression 180 seems the best value, but maybe other values have better outcomes (I'm no sound expert )
Also, as you said, it is important to test your changes on other than inbuilt speakers as they are always off-tone even with the best quality sound source. Better listen to recordings with headphones or with some good externeal speakers.

Ok thanks, yes I suppose there is a some improvement for me too. It’s not dead silent , as you say there is some remaining background noise but it has improved. When listening on another device it does seem to be clearer. Thanks for your help.

Enhance Headphone sound volume [NOUGAT] [7.0]

This is a simple modification to the MTK Settings
It's tested in the following roms: (might work on 6.0 but not sure)
- Stock Rom
- Eragon V1
What it does, it enhances the headphone's sound to its full potential
All you have to do is:
1: Enable Debug Options (settings, about phone, press build version several times, go back to settings and there should be a new option there, open it and close settings).
2: Download MTK Engineering Mode from playstore.
3: After Installing it, Open it and select MTK Settings.
4: Go on Hardware Testing - Audio - Volume - Audio Playback.
5: On 3/4-pole Headset set the Headset PGA to 160 and save.
6: Test and see the differences ?
It's a really simple modification, but if you have any questions, feel free to ask ?
hi, I did that but volume is still too low for me (I'm hard on hearing).
do you know which file contains those values, I would like to set it higher than 160 (I'm rooted)?

you cant set to higher than that, and even if it could it would just degrade the speakers even more, causing to either malfunction or lose eveb more volume to a point of no returb... This is a modification to the earphones only, you can mess with the speakers and put on the max that the app allows, but thats it, anything above the limits will degrade the speakers.

thank you for your response!
sorry if I didn't make it clear; I was talking about earphones, not phone speaker. I want louder sound on my earphones!
I edited some volume file in vendor\etc folder, made headset PGA value to 250, but it didn't do anything...

The 160 is the max volume.
So, if instead of applying for 3/4 pole Headset I apply it for Speaker label it will improve the sound on my Elephone speaker?

it might enhance, but the sound quality is already bad.. enhancing it even more will mostlikelly cause even more distortion
