RAM management sucks so I use OP5-AKT tweaks and custom kernel AK3-Tachyon-PIE-Refurbish1 by Darkdiz (count Dracula on Telegram)
BTW I have a H931->US998 and although @ChazzMatt says a US998 is a US998, my attempts at FOTA Upgrade flashing to 30a have all failed. I've tried 3 times and they all got stuck booting and had to go back to 20h.

I've never used FOTA on LGUP, so don't know about that. I've used Upgrade and Refurbish modes on Dev Patched LGUP.
Also works with US998 converted from LS998.
Just wait for KDZ. The OTA hasn't even been officially released. So until it is, it's still technically beta or Release Candidate.
Once it's officially released, the KDZ will soon follow.

Thus confirming US998 30a was beta/Release Candidate and which was deemed not good enough to be official Pie KDZ. Same thing happened with EU H930 30a -- and LG should have not even released the buggy EU H930 30b, which became official Pie but which they soon pulled from their servers.

It's up to you. I'm staying on stable Oreo until Pie is officially released -- which for US998 means the full image KDZ is released to the public.
Also, I'm running Anxious V30 mod and she's not updating that mod for Pie until Verizon V30 gets Pie.
Enables:
All Lockscreen Weather Animations, Anxious Kernel Script, Custom/V50 App Profiles, DTS:X 3D Surround, Dual Speaker for North American Variants, Falsified Advanced DAC Mode, G7/V40/V50 Camera Features (Updated Camera App, Updated Gallery App, Google Lens, Super Bright Mode, Updated AI & Filter Data), Google Phone (stable), Google Sans, JoyPixels 5.0, LG Equalizer Settings (w/ Custom EQ), Pixel Roboto & Various Other Fonts, Pixel WiFi Mod, Razer Phone 2 Nova Launcher, US GPS Config, YouTube Vanced (Black);

Updates can vary from country to country or they could only appear to specific users at first to not colapse the servers.
If there is a problem referred to phone verification could be due to the servers or could be some problem with your computer. You can try to unistall LG Bridge, drivers and temporal files to make sure of that.

You have to wait for new recovery. TWRP needs Oreo kernel:
SGCMarkus said:
You both need a new Recovery image, had the same problem.
Will post mine tomorrow (after i made it smaller, as it contains the stock kernel + exfat driver atm, lot of useless stuff for twrp lol)
The oreo firmware seems to be rather picky, and doesnt wanna bit a nougat kernel (which our twrp is based on) [emoji848]

Because you've changed to another variant you won't receive inferior partial image OTA update, you have to flash superior full image KDZ.
Easy. Takes 5 minutes. Upgrade option via LGUP. You keep all your data and settings.

But, if I do the update to Pie beta, can I later upgrade the beta ROM to the official one? Does the phone stay rooted with TWRP and unlocked bootloader?
Thanks for the answers!
Yes on TWRP if you pick "partition DL" on kDZ and unchecked "recovery and recovery bak" partitions (preserving TWRP recovery) OR use TWRP flashable zip created from kdz. Neither will close the bootloader. Root needs Magisk 19.4 zip flashing afterwards

I answered in thread. You didn't follow instructions.
You tried FOTA update with full image KDZ with TWRP custom recovery INSTALLED.
I never ever have mentioned using FOTA and I never will. I specifically say IN THE INSTRUCTIONS do NOT mess with LGUP modes not mentioned in the instructions.
I am stuck
I converted from 931 to 998 oreo 20a and when i try to upgrade to 998 pie 30a it gets stuck at boot and i have to roll back every time to 20a when it happens, ANY HELP PLEASE ?

First, there is no US998 30a. You're trying to flash US998 30b.
See the top sentence of attached screenshot. It's right there at the top of the KDZ post where found US998 30b.
If you don't want to do all the steps of the workaround, then you should do see least update to most recent Oreo US998B 20h, from the same KDZ thread you got 20a.
EDIT:
I also just answered your almost identical question in the KDZ thread, but saw this one first. The thread is a better place to ask.
My phone is restarting again and again, I have flashed several kdz but results is same. I was trying to flash pie beta but it wasn't working then this problem happening. What is the solution??

Wait. EU H930 is incompatible with US998 20H.
Do you have more than one phone? Because yesterday you were all over the EU H930 Pie thread, flashing that KDZ repeatedly on your phone.
You should never flash European firmware over North American variants and vice versa.
Here a couple of weeks ago you said you have H931:

So, why were you flashing EU H930 Pie on your phone yesterday? You are going to brick your phone.
If you indeed do have H931 (which seems to be the case, since you say it's "AT&T"), then you need to go back to Frankenstein and start over. Flash US998 Nougat, Master Reset, then US998 Oreo and STAY there until North American Pie is released.

You screwed up.
NEVER NEVER NEVER flash stock H930* firmware over any North American variants. It says so in all the Instructions.
You ignored all warnings. WHY? Every Pie H93O* KDZ and TWRP flashable zip says "ONLY for H930, H930G, H930D, H930DS. Do NOT ask if others can flash this!"
Flash back to US998 Nougat to repair your damage. PARTITION DL, all partitions in Dev Patched LGUP.

Try temporarily flashing back to US998 Nougat via Partition DL mode, all partitions. See if that fixes touch. Then update to US998 Pie again.

The problem remains the same, brother. I just flashed Nougat and nothing.

I'm almost out of answers. All I can suggest is Partition DL to H933 Nougat. Temporarily. See if that works, then back to US998 Nougat, then update back to US998 Pie.
Is it possible your digitizer just happened to fail same time you were doing all this?
same problem

Exactly, I think that by flashing that KDZ h930, some file or something that handles the hardware of the screen has broken.

Hello Friend. I've been thinking and well, could you tell me that a "Dump" file,? Could you solve the problem with that or is it more risky?

Never used Dump file, so don't know. That's a function of LGUP where you can theoretically restore original partitions if you have a "dump" prior to making any changes. You've already made changes.
