[Amazfit Pace] "Allow access to location" - Amazfit

Hi all,
I have just bought the amazfit pace, have to admit, am very happy, however one this is annoying me each time I connect the watch to my phone (I don't sleep with it, take it away and put it on plane mode) and is as follows:
The amazfit app is starting and showing each time this message (see attached for screenshot):
"Allow access to location" Allow Amazfit to search for and connect to devices after turning it on:
Option "Cancel" or "Go to Settings". (unfortunately since I am new I am not allowed to put links to outside webs, but if you want it, please let me know, will provide it).
When I press cancel, I am getting the same notification every time I open the app.
When I press go to settings, then I access the location menu.
This notification isn't shown as long as I have the GPS on the phone active (never).
Is there any way to erase it so that it doesn't appear anymore?
Thanks a lot!
Corn

No. Either keep GPS enabled or cancel every time you open the app (how often do you do this?!?).

Lots of little things that bug me about the SGS2...

I have a SGS2 with Optus branding. Recently updated to 4.0.3.
Can anyone offer fixes or reasons why these issues exist? I am sure if I rooted and installed a ROM, a lot of these issues would be better(?)
Home Key:
Will only go to Page 4. If there is no page 4, it will go to the last desktop page from an app, or will stay on the current desktop page.
Brightness:
The 'brightness' setting randomly changes to a lower setting. I have have checked and rechecked these settings...
Settings > Dislay > General > Automatic Brightness = Unticked
Settings > Dislay > General > Auto adjust screen power = Unticked
Settings > Power Saving > System power saving mode = Unticked
Settings > Power Saving > Custom power saving mode = Unticked
I set Brightness to maximum. When I come to use the phone next, it has changed to half brightness (or less). This seems to be independant of the charge level before and after.
In some instances where the phone has gone to sleep and I wake it, the lock screen is dimmed. It will only go full brightness once I have entered the correct pin. Difficult in daylight of course!!
Contacts:
The 'Contacts' tab seems to have dissappeared after the update from the Phone app [ Keypad | *Contacts* | Logs | Favourites ]. I can select by Menu > Contacts. How do I get the tab back?
I currently have SIM, Phone and Google selcted for 'Contacts to display' and I have selected 'Merge with Google' but some contacts are still missing from SIM. None are saved to the phone. I'm not sure which is the best way here, other than knowing that the SIM has limited fields.
Bluetooth:
It will not automatically connect with my Plantronics Voyager Pro HD Headset. The same headset connects with my B2710 automatically (ie. authorised).
PC Mode:
When I have the phone connected to a PC USB, even if just for charging, the phone becomes difficult to use. Its response time to keypresses is extremely slow or non existant. This makes entering passwords/unlocking or swiping hard or near impossible at times.
Camera:
The 'Review - On/Off' option is no longer on the settings menu.
Google Maps/Navigation:
When I open Maps and click the search (magnifier) button and start entering, it will close this window (and keyboard) and return to the map up to 3 times, cancelling anything I have entered. Some said to me 'Be patient', but how do you know how long for, and thats rediculous. Google does not seem to have a program fault report system, only map report.
Once I have selected Transport or walking mode, it will automatically select that for the next several navs and I have to manually select car.
The GPS symbol won't appear in the notification bar until I open Maps. I believe it should start looking as soon as I switch it on.
If I haven't selected to 'Navigate' to a destination, the phone will sleep after the preset time, and when I wake and unlock, it has lost the GPS and has to find again before I can continue.
Drops GPS if I swap to another app. This means when I come back I have to wait an unknown amount of time for it to resync. This seems to be getting longer lately
Touchpal Curve Keyboard:
Seems to have lost the ability to detect beginning of sentences so won't automatically insert a capital.
No longer shows up predicted words. I have double checked all settiungs. All enabled.
----------
May have a few others but thats a good start
One last, warranty issue - I recently cracked the screen. I stopped an Optus shop kiosk and inquired about repair... $250. I commented "I assume if I got it fixed by a third party that would void the warranty of the phone?" The Kiosk attendant replied "Yes, and even if we do it that voids the warranty of the phone". I walked away thinking that can't be right. A call to Fair Trading referred me to the TIO. A call to the TIO referred me to Fair Trading . When I stated this to the TIO, they said "We can't categorically say that a repair to a damaged screen will affect the manufacturer's obligation to repair or not" OMG!
And another...
I used to be able to share photos on Facbook directly from the Gallery, but since the update, Facebook is no longer as an option under 'Share via'. I can only do it from the Camera or using Facebook, which uploads a low res version only.
Is this the right forum for these issues? Are they phone or Android issues?
Wow
1. Change the thread title, or the mods will kick off.
2. Try other ROMs to see if your problems will go away.
I couldn't be bothered to read everything.
...
If these sg2 forums are anything like the x10 forums then you'll need to/should be looking through 1000s of posts concerning a rom you choose,or you could end up with more problems than you have now.
And is the screen fixed or still broken

Can anyone help a Tasker noob?

I finally decided that I was missing out by not having Tasker automate my life for me, so bought it as well as the full version of Secure Settings.
I've managed a couple of simple Profiles, but I'm having trouble with other stuff I want to do - most likely because I just don't understand.
A. Aim: When Maps is launched, turn on "WiFi" and "Location Mode High Accuracy"
Profile: Near Work
State: Cell Near (work)
Tasks: (1) WiFi On (2) Secure Settings, Location Mode/High Accuracy
This almost works - opening Maps carries out the expected tasks, and when I exit maps WiFi turns off (desired behaviour). However, Location does not switch off again, it stays on switched on, and I don't understand why.
I'd like Location to switch off again when I exit Maps.
B. Aim: Switch on WiFi and Location Mode/Battery Saving and Location Reporting and Location History once an hour, for one minute, and allow (force?) Google to poll my location for a short period so that if I ever lose my phone and it is switched off, there will be a trail of sorts (without having to leave all these services switched on all the time, which canes my battery).
Profile: Manage Location Services
State: Time - I don't know how I can make the profile active for one minute, every hour
Tasks: (1) WiFi On
Then I get lost - I can't see how to enable Location Reporting which is in Location Services in my phone settings. Also I don't know if doing that would immediately prompt the phone to contact Google and report its location (I assume it would).
C: Aim: Between 10pm-9am, if at home, then silence phone and switch off notification light
State: Cell near (home)
This is as far as I've got. I don't understand how to use time as a defining factor. Nor do I know how to switch off the notification light.
If anyone could help then I'd be very grateful!
Also, after reading a lot of Tasker walkthroughs/userguides (and not understanding a lot of them) I am none the wiser as to how to set up an 'exit task'?
There are a lot of issues regarding Secure Settings, I don't recommend it. The only way to turn on/off gps (and the way I'd do it personally) is use root shell to navigate through the settings or better yet set Status Bar-Open and using a Shell-"input tap x y" Use Root: Yes to tap on the GPS quick setting widget.
To add an exit task simply long press on the action part of your profile (on the main screen) and the options will appear. You can also add additional State, Time or Action matchings to your one profile, by long-pressing on the left part!
<<< Please say thanks if I was of help.

[Useful TIP] GPS sharing location BUG (Gear Manager)

Hi all.
I don't know If you all know this, but I found a very big bug (or mistake) from Samsung.
I was a bit concerned about being stolen, robbed, or simply forget where the watch is.
So I looked up an app to locate Gear S by its GPS on mobile (mine is Galaxy S5) , and I have found nothing.
(apps like Cerberus, "find my mobile" from Samsung, etc... for Gear S)
So I tried Gear Manager app.
There's "Find my gear" option, you can find the watch If it is bluetooth thetered.
On "Find my gear" menu, you can see "Turn On Share Location".
To turn it on, you need to enable GPS on your mobile. Once it's done, you can use "Locate Gear" and you'll have Gear S location address on your mobile (great!).
This feature also works when Gear is not bluetooth thetered but connected remotely (both devices connected to the intenet (it's not need same network, I tried 4G on mobile and WiFi on Gear and it works).
That's very nice and important, because in case of not being bluetooth paired you can still find your watch, or at least, the address where it is.
You can also disable internet on both devices and they will be connected remotely again If you enable internet on them.
You can also turn off both devices and turn them on later and they will be connected remotely again by internet and "Share Location" will keep working.
The BUG:
You can disable GPS on your mobile, but do not open Gear Manager. If you do it, "Locate Gear" will be greyed, and you will lose the "Share location".
To "Turn On Share Location" again you must be bluetooth paired! But what If I can't find my watch to do it!
This is a software bug, because you can turn your mobile off (GPS will be off, of course), turn Gear S off, you turn both of them on again, they are connected remotely and "Share Location" will be working SINCE you enable GPS on your mobile before opening Gear Manager app.
So, this is my tip: DO NOT EVER open Gear Manager without enabling GPS before If you want to keep "share location" feature working.
I believe I'm not the only one with this bug.
My S5 (G900M) is running ZTO OC4 (5.0), Gear Manager version: 2.2.15022599.
R750B - ZTO - OA9.
If anyone knows an app else to locate our Gear S using GPS?
Let me know If you have this bug too...
Thanks.
without being flippant or unhelpful I don't quite understand the problem
don't get me wrong I'm very often puzzled why some people don't understand other peoples use case issues
but ... being a wristwatch, my Gear S is either on my wrist, being charged nearby, or otherwise in one of a relatively small number of discrete locations (including maybe in the washing machine, somewhere under my pillow, or down the back of the sofa)
I for one found Apple's "find my iDevice" very useful in locating said devices and reducing sleepless nights:
"Did I leave my iphone/macbook at work, in the car, in the hotel, airport or where I was working today.... did my iphone bounce out of my pocket somewhere else ? ... has someone stolen it ?" etc.
If the device still had a charge and a signal I could locate it, breathe a sigh of relief, contact those locations and/or send a message "please return REWARD no questions asked"
wrt to theft, muggings or my own cognitive impairment I'm not so sure "find my Gear S" would be as useful - the Gear S will be either somewhere in my house or my workplace, or gone for good ... ??
I personally leave gps off until I exercise. So that being said, in order for find my watch to be effective id like to see gps automatically turned on when away from my phone. That way if it was ever left somewhere other then my house I could actually find it
Easy... never trun gps off = no bug.
I use my GS as a stand alone phone for work and a Note 4 as my private phone.
I treat my GS like any other phone. All features always on, brightness full and charge it every night.
No big deal, no issues, everything works great.
Samsung Gear S gps not work on other country
I brought the GS in canada, mainly used as standalone and no SIM. I loaded with offline maps canada + italy. It works in north amercia and able to locate me and show directions. When I was in italy, GS never able to locate my current spot. it simply looping in "finding me" within the HERE map app. I wonder is it locked by design to prevent use in other country. or there is a GPS fix or needed to be rooted?

Disa says 'Huawei Protect Apps'

Hi there,
I got my p10 pro yesterday and I've loaded up a load of preferred apps to it - one of which is Disa messenger.
When I open it, a popup comes up saying 'Huawei Protect Apps, disa requires to be enabled in 'Protected Apps' to function properly' - and when I click on 'Protected Apps' it takes me to a blank screen with 'Lock Screen Cleanup' and 'No Apps' ....
I've looked up 'Huawei Protected Apps' on google, but everything I see refers to old settings menus - of which aren't labelled the same on my p10 pro.
can anyone help a brother out? I can't see or work out how to add this app
Has anyone figured out the 'Protected Apps' yet on this phone?
I feel like i have to open my phone every few minutes to see if i have any text messages, or facebook messages.
It's very annoying.
And its basicaly with every single app, i dont even get in time (sometimes) notifications to my smartwatch.. apps like voice notify and beacon doesnt works while screen is off.. Seems like huawei pushed to much on battery saving this time.
Looks like they have removed "protected apps" option. Now its only the "launch" option you can toggle from settings>battery>launch where there is a new "manage automatically" option. Turning it off, you can manage each app individually.
After that you can only check if the wifi settings to keep wifi on during sleep.
And also try toggling off "power saving" mode from settings>battery

Exactly, but even managing every app manually doesnt helps. i made all my apps to run in the background, i have some old LG (cheap one), connected the same facebook accounts, and that old cheap phone gives me every notification, while my mate 10 pro doesnt.. wth androind is going to..
Same here. :-s
My s7 is showing messages coming through, nothing on my mate until I unlock the screen

Thats sad and really annoying...
I've been struggling with this for the past hour to get an app to give alarm when display is off. And think I might have it working. I did set the battery management to manual mode. And I also set the app to have priority notifications. Now it worked, but it might be random. Need more testing.

It's buried, but you have to "ignore battery optimizations" by going into settings, then apps, then clicking the setting button at the bottom of the apps page, then "special access" and then "allow" the apps you want to survive in "ignore battery optimization". At least that's how it's on my Mate 10 (non-pro), so I suspect it's the same for you.
Thanks Rogerrynic. Was looking on my p9 everywhere for this setting as Disa kept prompting each day about it. Big plus for you
Another thing that might be causing problems is the "Smart Notifications", ironically. If you search for for it in the settings it will come up. Basically it says that it ranks app notifications based on importance. Then when the phone is locked it automatically clears ones it deems as non-priority. Try disabling this.
I've just received my Mate 10 Pro today, and I too use Disa. I'm working my way through all the possible different settings that could be causing this issue. Has anyone managed to get Disa to work without this message coming up still? (and I don't mean by just disabling the message).

Automatic wake up upon message reception

Hello, is it possible automatically wake up the stratos upon reception of a message? I want directly read it instead of going into menu and select it...
Not, yet... But a (poor) workaround it to active the "turn on on wrist movement", that can be enabled only at certain times, in Settings.
