Anyone using the Canadian Model(G8343), and having issues with ROM's? - Sony Xperia XZ1 Questions & Answers

I was wondering if anyone was using the Canadian model of the Xperia XZ1? Are the AOSP ROMs working well for anyone using the Canadian model? I've used both LineageOS, and CarbonRom, both on Android Pie, installing stock firmware first. I've been having issues with headphone jack static(The static only happens when music or sounds are being played). Using a stock-based ROM like Existenz Pie still has headphone static, and is extremely laggy(It does get better, but it still felt choppy after a few days). Going back to stock fixes the headphone jack, but has app crashes and such. I'm not sure if it is a model-only issue, or just something I did wrong with the installation of the ROMs themselves.

10.1 CM ROM advise

Howsit guys
I have tried about 2 of the CM10.1 ROMS. i know they are all still beta etc, with it to be bugs.
Just wondering, is there a nice stable one available?
The ones i tried keeps on crashing at camera (Could not connect to camera) And also, chrome, buggy?
I dont have alot of time to check and track changes etc, if anyone maybe can recommend? i9300 International version
Thanks guys!!!!!
No stable versions as of yet. It'll be quite a while as even cm10 isn't stable yet for most devices afaik.
All cm builda for now and any derivative works will have bugs. If you stability, stick to stock-based roms. I for myself don't have any problems with camera on cm10.1 (official nightlies)
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
If you want to use AOSP, Ill highly recommend sticking with official CM nightlies since they are developed by CM and are generally updated more frequently whilst other ROMs are based upon CM, thus their update are intra vires to that of CM. There are a few others out there may also deserve high recommendations such as SuperNexus but this refers back to my main point.
The camera crash I suspect might be due to the particular sensor used within the camera as some are Samsung and Sony variant. IIRC, Vietnam manufactured units used Samsung sensor whilst others utilise the Sony sensor.

[Q] No Amazon Music and [Some] AOSP Roms

Hey All,
I've tried about every LP AOSP Rom for the Verizon VS985 variant of the G3 and think I've narrowed down the culprit. First let me explain the issue. The Amazon Music App won't stream music, giving exception 181. I've chatted with amazon tech support and now here I am. It works fine with the stock ROM and Jasmine. It also works with Fusion 5.0 and Slim Alpha - I believe both of these to be Slip based. But for the life of me, I can't get it to work with any CM based ROM including but not limited to Illusion, Vanir, Fusion 5.1... more than I'd like to admit.
Anyone know how to fix this issue so I'm not so limited? I don't need many, just one good daily driver. After gong to AOSP, back to stock is so slow.
Thanks,
bagz

I found out that ONLY stock roms uses the best DAC.

Hi, all audio enthusiasts!
So recently I purchased a pair of Sennheiser IE80. These IEMs are known to be VERY sensitive and thus you need a really good DAC unless you want background noise in your music.
When I first plugged these IEMs into my phone I was hugely disappointed, the sound was pretty good I guess but there was this constant annoying background noise whenever audio was playing. This was noticeable even when listening to high tempo EDM music with a very low dynamic range, and when I tried some acoustic music with a higher dynamic range the background hiss completely ruined the music experience for me.
Disappointed as I was I decided to ditch LOS and get back to stock and try the audio there since I've always poor battery life on ALL nougat Roms anyway I decided to try the latest Stock Marshmallow build (B11).
The standard HiFi option sounded very poor, I think even worse than LOS but I'm not completely sure as A/B testing is practically impossible. When I turned on the Super Hifi option, however, ALL background hiss had vanished and the sound just got to another level!!! This could only mean two things; either LOS based Roms have some very funky audio processing or (whats most likely) Only stock builds use the best DAC which is presumably the AKM 4491. I haven't tried Nougat but I suspect that the audio is more or less the same ass on Marshmallow.
TL-DR: Only stock build uses the best DAC (AKM 4491).
Where to turn on the Super Hifi option?
It is using the AK dac without genuine drivers. It is not going to sound great the way it is being forced to work. If drivers could be found then maybe it would be like stock.

Yeah this could be accurate. Anyway LOS has hiss, Stock with Super setting doesn't.
Has anyone tried this fix for LOS rom? Or the latest nightly if the patch is merged?

That was merged mid to late April. It is on all of the Los/asop roms now.
I dont know many why many people using wrong DAC number it should be AKM4490 or 4961

samsung i9300 microphone and speaker problem after cyanogenmod or lineage os

I always had this question since the first time I installed a custom stock android rom for my I9300. every stock android rom I used had the lack of quality of the Microphone or the Speaker sometime also the camera quality specially recording a video comparative with the original touchwiz firmware or any similar samsung touchwiz rom which maintain the quality of the microphone and the speaker.. Why is that? And is there any solution? because I really like lineage os performance.
Thanks in advance
The difference is drivers. In touchwiz based roms and official firmware the drivers are compatible. For customs roms the drivers are emulated.
If you have any problems with the device the first port to call is official stock firmware.
I also had that low volume problem. In music app its really loud but when it comes to apps like Youtube and browser its really quite.Cant even hear it.So Im always using Viper4Android, just raised the Output gain to 6 Db so it can reach to its maximum capacity and its kinda perfect again. But dont know anything about mic quality.

So Is it fixable or I need to go back touchwiz to gain back the speaker and microphone quality?

There's a slight chance it is faulty hardware but as I said, stock when issues occur. That way you know for a fact the software is good so any issues have to be hardware.

are there any downsides using a custom rom like lineage os

like worse sound or camera etc...?
I'm using another phone, but no, I had no negative sideeffects (Well, except for some bugs which will be continously removed though).
