Howsit guys
I have tried about 2 of the CM10.1 ROMS. i know they are all still beta etc, with it to be bugs.
Just wondering, is there a nice stable one available?
The ones i tried keeps on crashing at camera (Could not connect to camera) And also, chrome, buggy?
I dont have alot of time to check and track changes etc, if anyone maybe can recommend? i9300 International version
Thanks guys!!!!!
No stable versions as of yet. It'll be quite a while as even cm10 isn't stable yet for most devices afaik.
All cm builda for now and any derivative works will have bugs. If you stability, stick to stock-based roms. I for myself don't have any problems with camera on cm10.1 (official nightlies)

If you want to use AOSP, Ill highly recommend sticking with official CM nightlies since they are developed by CM and are generally updated more frequently whilst other ROMs are based upon CM, thus their update are intra vires to that of CM. There are a few others out there may also deserve high recommendations such as SuperNexus but this refers back to my main point.
The camera crash I suspect might be due to the particular sensor used within the camera as some are Samsung and Sony variant. IIRC, Vietnam manufactured units used Samsung sensor whilst others utilise the Sony sensor.

Hi Guys, sorry if it has been asked before, but i searched and couldn't find an answer i was looking for.
I want to try the new AOSP 4.1.1 jelly bean rom on my GS3 but don't want to loose any of the features that the GS3 is known for. for me the camera i cannot loose because i must take around 200 photos a day. I used to run paranoid android on my GS2 and i loved what it had to offer so i am familiar with that type of rom, i tried that rom on my GS3 when i got it and was dissapointed to find out that none of the GS3 features were available.
The answer i am seeking really, is that im probably going to loose certain features like camera etc, am i likely able to install the sammy camera onto the AOSP installed rom to keep the features i use all the time?
im guessing im probably better off waiting for an official update?!?!
cheers in advance guys.
Hi,
You won't have the sammy camera on aosp roms and as far as I know it is not available since its based on touchwiz..
If you just want the aosp look then I would install a different launcher like apex launcher.

AOSP stands for Android Open Source Project and their SDK are backbone for all other Android firmware. Samsung firmware have proprietary software that will not be included. Just install a different rom that retain the Samsung apps.
But we could "fill" the gaps with some other software. For example, Moboplayer now is able to "float" a video around while you are reading twitter.
For those of us who want Samsung's features without Touchwiz thread like this could help.

Yes, but he is especially referring to the camera app, which you will not have on an aosp rom

Ok. It could be useful if he tell us what are the features he miss from Samsung camera app.
For example, burst mode.... Camera Zoom FX has burst mode, voice control.... I speak about Camera Zoom, just because i have it
Hi, thanks for you replies guys, i tried the latest paranoid android jelly bean version, ( purely because ive used it before on galaxy s2) and love everything about it apart from the slow camera. I was hoping that the camera would be better on this rom but its still slow, ( i take pictures of my 2 year old son and he moves too quickly so his face is always blurred) so i think i will have to revert back to the official sammy rom.
does anyone know of a way to port the camera app from the sammy based roms?
also if i do go back to the sammy rom, does anyone know if i can install the aosp version of exchange mail?
The sammy version looks so ugly and I kinda got used to the AOSP version when running that on gs2, the sammy one is too dark.
anyway, Ill probably just wait for the official update and see how that goes. I just like certain features from both versions of android. shame i cannot have a multiboot option.lol
cheers.
Paul.
I own several tabs that I loan to my employees. I need something fast and stable before I leave stock ICS. Is there a timetable or a completely stable aosp JB rom?
Thanks.
CM10.1 for Galaxy Tab 10.1, as it stands now, cannot ever go stable (unless 4.2 is released for Tegra2 which most likely won't occur since it has been EOL'd).
This is because there is quite a mess with Google Apps (which most users install and use from the usual places) on this platform where things have to be hacked/modded/worked around for things to work. This is because support for non NEON architecture (like Tegra2) has been dropped.
However, CM10 for Galaxy Tab 10.1 can go stable and will do so once the remaining bugs are squashed. This is being worked on. A timetable cannot be given at this current time.
Thanks... What are the bugs? Is it on your website?

yea you can view what is left from a major issue point of view, as of 0122 unofficial.
Thanks.
Hello everybody!
I'm an android "expert noob" from long time and i currently own a i9300.
I always preferred AOSP or AOKP over the original stock Samsung Rom, even giving up some pretty useful functions implemented
such as swipe-to-call and moving the phone near to the ear to call.
Not big deal, I can live without these, but i really need the HDMI-out support for important reasons, which is not working beacuse of "proprietary drivers" (as i recall) never relased, and that's why i always stayed on Stock 4.1.2 roms or customized versions of these (i.e. the great Omega, UltimaRom, FoxHound etc.)
This until the last week, when I found out someone leaked the "official" 4.2.1 Samsung Rom with HDMI-out working (obviously!), so i expected major branches such as CM would implement the necessary files and adapt it to the rom, but this never happened.
Did I miss something, is this still impossible for unknown-to-me reasons or what?
tl;dr Now that "official" leaked 4.2.1 is among us, why AOSP/AOKP developers still haven't implemented HDMI-out in their ROMs?
Because Samsung haven't released the necessary sources I presume, much like camera sources etc
It will never be possible. The standard is owned by Microsoft and will never be open.
R: [Q] AOSP/AOKP 4.2.X + HDMI-out. Possible integration?
I thought it could be ported somehow considering that now CM and official are on same base (4.2)

Hello guys, I've recently upgraded from a Galaxy Nexus to a Galaxy S III, skipping the Nexus 4 for reasons I should explain only if asked.
I've been reading a lot of posts from AOSP advocates defending Samsung's TouchWiz, which makes for a rather worrying reading.
Now, I'm quite pleased with stock TW Jellybean, it's really smooth, fast, stable and not bloated at all. However, I wanted to try some AOSP roms since developers clearly had some time to work on them, and Samsung has certainly released JB source code to overcome some driver-related issues that there might have been. My question is: is TW still the best option or are there some AOSP roms that are stable, fast and working on every aspect? I'm talking about tethering, data connection, auto-brightness, battery life, bluetooth, camera... the stuff meant to work at its best on a stock TW rom.
Thanks for your help.
Well actually for me the AOSP ROMs are smoother and have all the features I could probably need....but
Samsung didn't released the sources as they told us and because of that (and a couple of proprietary reasons with Microsoft)
We can't make a fully functional camera(slight camcorder/flash stuff that have never affected me)
Can't have exfat sdcards
Can't have native FM radio
(Reason why we are not really officially supported by Cyanogenmod in their M builds)
But that's about it...I would really recommend you to try them...unless you need a Samsung specific feature like AllShare or AllShare control if you have a SmartTV...or want the extra features in the camera (BurstShot ShareShot) that I really never used..... and a lot of those features are now in CM10.1 like HDR and that stuff.
Those are my two 2 cents of the theme

Any idea then a stable version of CM10.1 will come out? I'm really wanting to have that stock android experience but i want it to be stable and can be used as an everyday driver
The only issue I had with it is otg doesn't work.
This is cm we're talking about. No eta.

I think we'll see the Google Edition of the HTC One by mid-July, and the ROM could leak before it's even released which should serve as a catalyst in getting AOSP & AOKP ROM's running at full steam.
If I had to guess you'll see full featured AOSP builds by the end of July, probably not Cyanogenmod, but AOSP none the less.
Fingers crossed HTC releases some device-specific code that optimizes the camera quality and if we're REALLY lucky, some kind of in-home audio driver solution that closely mimics Beats.

I personally think the current nightly is good enough to be stable.
It will come out in due time, but don't expect it by the end of the week, or even month. The current version is reasonably stable, but expect battery life to take a hit should you use it.
It will come with this http://m.cnet.com/news/htc-one-google-edition-its-real-and-coming-in-summer/57586184
