I don't think so. I think I will maintain Lineage if it's updated with security patches, but this one does not, and I think most of the others do not either...

Hi everyone, here is a new build with "doze", should improve battery life (and I'm using it, I think it does ! )
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1cKzSmxPJvPYuLowyNMqdriJGa7kYMlhD
For those who hope for Oreo updates, my todo/trying list is the following :
trying to improve the kernel, in order not to have to install a custom one to have videos with Instagram/WhatsApp
trying to update the ROM with Google security patches
If I succeed to do that, I may be able to maintain DotOS 2.5, and thus LineageOS
But just a reminder : I'm doing it for my personal interest/curiosity, and I have a work and kids, so don't expect to much from me !

Something is better than nothing. Personal life is always important. I hope that people won't pester you for updates. Thanks for developing Oreo ROMs.
I have a query. When I used this ROM, the screen on time was worse than your lineage OS ROM but idle drain was similar. Since doze reduces idle drain, have your screen on time improved with this version?

Thank you, @adinechin ! This rom is really good. I use it with "PBH" kernel. It's fast and smooth, with good customization options and no major issues. Voice calling quality is also good - may be the in call volume is a little loud and also the interlocutors hear a very slight echo of their voice.
I found two bugs:
1.After restarting, Substratum layers are deactivated and must be reactivated.
2. Cracking sound of notifications with stock kernel.
And one question - is the latest version of September 9th?

Hi and thanks for your feedback
About security patches, the Oreo version has been abandonned since March so I'll have to merge the fixes myself and fork all repositories needed. It might take some time but I'm willing to do it
For the other bugs I don't know if I can fix them, but you can always send logs...

Hi everyone, here is a new build : https://drive.google.com/open?id=1G4c89Xry01uzn4Qk6QVRuhd299L73xkC
Pie kernel for better battery life, and video bug in WhatsApp and Instagram
Update of security patch to june (I don't know why but I did not succed to merge patches to september, and be aware that the patch might not be really up to date even to june...)
I wanted to share this build because I've not much time these days, but the Pie kernel is a good improvement.

[Q] Security and kernel?

Just wondering if anyone knows on the cm 14.1 los builds . Does it included the latest security patches and important bits from nougat? Thanks in advance .
yes, it includes all the important bits from nougat, and i think , they are working on security patches
CM13 (still released unofficially, see Kernels & Roms Thread) and LineageOS 14.1 Pre-Official (and official once it's there) are both patched to the latest security patches (Jan 05) within the same month usually, the last few months it was patched within 1 or two weeks after release. I have to know that, I am doing it

Thanks for clarifying and the hard work. Definitely will have to root and give it a go. It's nice to see how far CM has come. Not to many roms always include latest patches alot of the time it's just ported eye candy features lol. CM 14.1 looks pretty awesome from what I've read up on even better that you included latest updates.

I believe it lol. I've checked out the changelog and other bits since then. They are pretty good at squashing out bugs or finding a way to patch a lot of issues or playing with code to fix something. The layout works well tho gets reviewed approved then merged.
My favorite part of CM team from way back then which is now lineage was it generally was always updated and patched and never got stale.

Hey sweetie! Lot of thanks, you are trying to make oreo rom! Good work.
Thank you @Sweetie for letting us know that your friend has made the Oreo device tree and kernel!
Looking forward to your Oreo ROM!
Can't wait to run it on my Kinzie XT1580!
great job ,waiting for oreo rom
Works great! Android 8.1 based resurrection remix would be amazing though.
Awesome rom, bro!
I'm using it as my daily driver! Just need to get used to the different gestures cuz I used to shake/wave a lot my xt1580 for torch and camera. and the sim card is worling smoothly in my reteu variant!
greet job bro, thanks for your rom!
Everythng works fine
Been running this rom for some time now, and haven't noticed ANY issue yet. Just wanted to share some screenshots.
Battery life is also great. At least as much as jwchen's LineageOS build.
No Moto Display.It's a pity.
The others are very funny and excellent.
I'm writing this post because I'm impressed with this Resurrection Remix 5.8.5 Nougat ROM for our Kinzie and it is really feature packed and really stable too! I don't know why but this ROM is so much smoother and less buggier as compared to the jwchen119's LineageOS. (Although I miss (a lot) the double twist for camera and chop chop for flashlight! )
Downside of this ROM is just the battery life. Everything else is better. Good enough as a daily driver. But you might need to find a power outlet frequently!
I only sometimes get audio statics from PowerAMP as I experienced a lot in the other ROM.
I have Magisk, Xposed and Substratum installed. Performance is good.
- Haven't test sim card cuz' currently this phone still my secondary device (unless the battery life can be improved! SOT 2.1 Hrs with heavy camera use, SOT 2.9 hours for normal usage.)
- Yet to test gaming performance because Kinzie battery life is really bad already.
@Sweetie!
Saw you updated the first post on this thread with " A friend made oreo device tree and kernel! So, it's time to bring some Oreo roms for Kinzie"! Can't wait to see Oreo Resurrection Remix for Kinzie! Or maybe ROMs (either battery priority, performance priority or both )
I am really thankful of you making so many great ROMs for Moto X Force users! Or else this device might only have 1 third party ROM to survive with! Now we've plenty of it! Thanks for extending the "lifespan" of our kinzie! Appreciate much! :victory:

I can give you oreo rom to use right now, but have few major bugs like Camera and Audio is not working at all. All credits goes to Jwchen119 <3 for his tree!
If some devs can help us in solving bugs then it'll be awesome.

I would really want to use your Oreo ROMs but not at the moment as I need to use the phone camera a lot right now (that's the reason I flash custom ROM cuz' the stock ROM camera was very slow when phone heats up!)
Please keep us posted with your new ROM! :good:
Hello Sweetie,
Thanks a lot for you job. Have you got some news for the oreo rom for kinzie ?
Bye
Hate to bump a somewhat old thread, but I just purchased one of these devices(off eBay for cheap, and ill know more when it arrives) and was wondering if you guys got the bugs on 8.0 dealt with yet, and if anyone can point me to a root method that works the best for this device??? I also want to know, are the heating up issues fixed in the android 7 custom rom, and if not, is there something I can do, like adding thermal paste or something, that will prevent heating up so much???
**edit** I bought the Turbo 2 which seems to not be able to unlock, but again, I'll know more when I get it... Hope I can use it on straight talk, or Visible Wireless...

MOST SATISFYING ROM and KERNEL FOR US

Hi guys! I am making this thread so that we could have a place to tell the community which is the most satisfying ROM and kernel in our opinion and experience that you have used or most probably are using right now. Guys it would be really helpful if you share what qualities make that ROM or kernel most satisfying in your opinion like bb or performance or something unique about that ROM or kernel. Guys I welcome you to share any special settings (ROM or ka) you have done to achieve that satisfaction. So guys do share and help the community and show gratitude to respective developers as well .....
Thank You!
My choice is crdroid nougat official with stock kernel. Super stable and nice bb for my usage. I'm using it right now. No special settings. Just extreme battery saver all the time.
I think that the combination ofofficial RRos nougat and beacon kernel is very stable. I'm using it right now
I haven't used many ROMs but the most satisfying ROM for me is Viper Coral [nouget ]. Its butter smooth and best batter backup. It also doesn't have slow charging problem unlike other Oreo ROMs . It take only 2-2.5 hours to complete charge the device. Since I am not a Jio user I don't know about volte.
for me it's the viper os coral 3.1.1 final by impulsar it even shows certified in device status in play store , it's the most stable rom for me gr8 bb no volte issue nothing it's the best with stock kernel & also with beacon
Both vipers are great I.e. impulsar's and dinesh's both are certified in play store
Unofficial CrDroid by difr
Extreme performance!
Yup.. True.. Extreme performance.. Butter smooth, excellent multitasking possibilities. Good battery backup (but not the best), but wen compared to performance, this is more than sufficient.. Excellent work by developer.. Kudos..
liquid remix, stock kernel.
I am very pleased with AEX 4.6 and the Spicey Kernel. Great battery backup, responsiveness and performance, GCamMod and everything else is working. The only downside is that it is not actively maintained anymore, so no new security updates. As I had several problems with Oreo ROMs and their GAPPS, I hope that the developers will iron out these issues to make the switch sometime in the future (the unofficial crDroid build was promising, but GAPPS didn't work there for me).

Yes, I had issues with the 8.1 April 1st release (pico and nano) from opengapps.org. I first flashed the ROM, rebooted and then flashed GAPPS and I got "play services stopped" as soon as I try to setup my device. And as I did mention in the other posts, I've tried other ROMs and TWRPs as well with the same reproducible result and ran out of options there. Hence I got back to AEX 4.6 and even flashing it together with GAPPS went without problems wheras I get bootloops if I flash them together with Oreo ROMs.

I did try even older ones from December, but that did not work as well. Look overe here in this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-redmi-3s/help/flash-oreo-roms-t3743439/page4
Some people found a solution which worked for them, but I haven't tried them myself yet.
Bootleggers and unofficial crdroid by difr
I have used many custom roms with stock and beacon combo (excluding treble as beacon for treble is not out yet)
I vote for Bootleggers ROM.
It's a complete package with 99.9% pure android bug-less experience. All features work flawlessly. Best thing about this rom is Battery Backup. it's amazing, a LOT more compared to any other rom be it Nitrogen RR Firehound Cr AEX LiquidRemix Viper PixelExperience MIUI etc. I have tried them all but finally Bootleggers compelled me to stick with it for Battery Backup and almost NO bugs.
My latest choice - AEX oreo build by Woivod

Stable custom rom for redmi note 4 sd

Hello,
I have redmi note 4 3GB variant, rooted with miui 9.5.11.0
I wanted to try out a stable custom rom, I'm leaning towards resurrection rom and lineage os, can you guys tell me which versions of those are stable enough for me to try?
And, what is the most hassle free and simplest way to back up and restore data.
In other words, how to easily switch from stock rom to custom rom (or vice versa) without loosing user data?
Los is good but if u are fan of customisation Then RR is good also Aosp Extended is good option, u can restore your old backup and its very easy just make backup of your current rom and flash the custom rom.

It doesn't get more stable than LineageOS.
But the price you pay is that there aren't any customizations or features. Currently it's basically pure Android
I'm using Miracle droid for 6 months now since i dont need treble at the moment or until magisk has official treble support.
Many customization option and no bug so far.

I prefer customization, not pure android.
At least for me, Miracle has better batter life. i love RR since Galaxy S2
oh by the way RR nougat is the best battery life so far.
I use RR Luis ROM, 5..8.5 version, which is for Nougat. Battery life is excellent, lots of customizations, and very stable.
Try the Lineage Extended by Alexey. Its not here in XDA, but search Alexey711 in androidfilehost. Thats the perefect version of Lineage based ROM I've found. Lots of customization plus regular updates.
Alexey build in lineage is the best , he update daily I think:silly: almost all customization in resurrection are available in it
If you want to try resurrection go for endless, his battery life is outstanding, he also update with useful features

Alright, but I'm unable to find the older versions on Sourceforge, here are only Oreo versions
I never knew there were other android forums such as XDA in this world, damn

Alright Man ! Great !! is there any side by side comparison for those three ?
And I'm rooted with Magisk, with stock recovery so that I can receive OTA MIUI stable updates..So are you talking about Titanium Backup or TWRP backup or the in house Local Backups ?

MOST Stable rom for RN3 2GB Version

Hi Guys hope you r donig well ♥
and suggestions about a stable rom & kernel for my 2gb version
i don't play pubg or games , only use my phone for camera and social media
i do prefer N roms cuz most of the people say that pie still have some issues
thanks for your time guys ♥
Citrus-caf obviously. Though it's a little bit old, i.e. Dec, 18. Nevertheless, it's the most stable among all. It's the only Pie rom for kenzo having SE Linux enforcing. Flash it with orangefox recovery and opengapps 64 bit nano package. Good luck.
Stabe and Up-to-date Custom ROM for Redmi Note 3, meet /e/!

/e/ has this nasty bug that powers down the device at certain battery percentage, highly unstable. Also kernel (stock LineageOS 14.1) hasn't been updated in years which makes this security oriented ROM unsecure.

I never experienced that bug on /e/ so far, my battery goes as down as 1% very often without any issue (which is terrible for its longevity actually)

in my experience at least, it is very stable. I was on Havoc OS before, which wasn't that stable.

Could you elaborate on that kernel issue please?
note that at the the present time, the "Phone Status" screen displays the following:
Kernel version: 3.10.105-lineageos-g92430f1a110 .... Fri Jul 5 02:59:21 UTC 2019
and
Android security patch level: june 5, 2019

I was referring to the battery bug as being unstable. It's a bug within stock kenzo LineageOS 14.1 kernel which /e/ is powered by. Which takes me to the security part; there are system level patches, which are up to date, no problem with that and kernel level patches. Kernel was last updated (not built, different thing) on November 2017, which makes your device vulnerable to some serious exploits.

Oh, now I see what you mean. I used to have that issue for a while back when I was on Lineage OS, but after I replaced my two years old battery, that behavior stopped completely! so I just put the blame on the battery age.

Thank you for the explanation, I just looked it up. So the Linux kernel 3.10.y reached its End Of Life almost two years ago! and the date displayed on "Settings > About phone" is just the actual building date. Well that's a serious security flaw related to the vendor/device itself, whatever the Custom ROM one chooses to install.
That being said, and if the OP still wants to keep his device, /e/OS is a right choice compared to the other Custom ROMs, for the remaining reasons stated in my first reply.
Cordially,
