Hi guys,
I was trying to flash POSP Android 10.. it was not booting me in.
So, i went back to my backup. But now i am not able to login as its saying my decrypt password is wrong.
I am not able to login to TWRP also, as again i am facing issue, since its asking for password.
I know i have to format the data but not sure as how to do it without access to TWRP.
Cheers!!!
press the back button then you can format data
Type as password --> default_password
install DFE and try
otherwise format data (you will lose everything in your internal storage )
Did you got pattern lock active before flashing POSP, if yes try the numbers associated with each dot of your pattern as password.

I see in the settings there's an option for encrypting the phones data itself but I'm looking for something else.
I want to set a password so that while the phone is booting up it will not load in without a password and I want to remove the factory data reset option inside the recovery and make it so that no one is able to reset the phone without a password.
any ideas?

People have been looking for this for years and it is not an option. There is not fool proof way to prevent someone from wiping your device.
My bootloader is unlocked and Twrp is installed. I flashed CM13 but was having issues with root so I ran "adb shell reboot disemmcwp" that made Adaway work but Titanium backup still would not uninstall system apps. Twrp says it can't dycrypt data and I am unable to move my TWRP backup off the device. I've formatted everything. I don't entirely understand the encryption, if I need encryption? Should I be having errors in Twrp or be able to mount system? I don't know if I did something wrong and what to do to fix it? I was hoping to figure this out before reflashing cm13.
mod please move to questions, sry
Not sure if this will fix your problem but I had the encryption issue when I flashed CM. When I set up my pin I unknowingly chose ask for pin when starting device. So TWRP asked for a password to decrypt. My pin did work in TWRP. I fixed it in the security settings. Does TWRP ask for a password?
Fixed it. I had choose a pin setting up CM. The fix for me was to hit cancel in Twrp when it asked for a pinand then format the data.
Hi boys,
like hour ago i unlocked my bootloader, flashed RedWolf TWRP and got myself a ViperOS with ElectraBlue kernel. I rebooted, set up with password and ****.
Now i need password to enter twrp and boot to system, how can i disable it?
Your device is encrypted. So you need to format data I think.

There is an option that requires password after your device reboot in setting up lock screen. You have to set up your lockscreen again to remove that password.
can you accessed internal for backup all data or files through twrp?you need format all internal data...
Maybe you can change it in the twrp setting.
It is the twrp's function
Hello,
Since 2 months my phone (redmi note 4 with twrp and miui 9 based on android 7.0) is encrypted without any problem.
Every boot or into twrp, phone ask password and accept it and decrypt data. Into andoid, I just use fingerprint to unlock mobile.
Yesterday, I reboot my phone into twrp and he prompt for password (normal procedure for decrypt data). I enter it and twrp say : "E: Decrypt took too long, killing process Failed to decrypt data"
I try to reboot and enter into android, and same problem. The phone does not accept password in order to decrypt data.
Ok probably I don't remember my password and make a mistake. I decide to search for my password into my keepass, and it's the same !
I got a twrp full backup, and into "/data/system/device_policies.xml" I can see length, uppercase, lowercase, letters, numeric, symbols, nonletter of my stored password. And do you know what, ALL IS CORRECT !
Why did my phone does not accept password ?
What can I do ?
Thanks
sorry for my bad english, it's not my native language.

You have to used "Format Data" option in TWRP.
You'll lose everything on your Internal storage of course (music, photos, videos etc.)
Hello, It's what I do.
I wipe /data and consequenly internal sdcard. After that, I restore my old twrp's backup of /data partition. And surprise, I use my password and it's OK !
This demonstrate that my /data suddenly broken ! (encryption, data corruption...)
Just before wipe all data I make a dd image of userdata partition in case
I don't know if crypt process were broken into android.
Is there a way to decrypt with linux PC binary of img with my password ?

I don't think you'll have the option to provide the password you set. It's probably not like an encrypted archive.
You can just try to mount the image and see if you can access it.
You could have just extracted it with tar if the backup wasn't an image!
Hi,
So I just unlocked my bootloader, installed TWRP and then I installed the latest TWRP version of MIUI Pie beta.
The setup wizard has firstly asked me for my Mi account password which I provided. But then, right after it asked me if I want to restore from a Google backup, it asked me to "Confirm my password". First, I thought it's asking for my previously used lockscreen password. However, only a numeric keyboard shows up! And my lockscreen password also contained letters.
I tried to wipe data through TWRP and even flash the zip file which removes the lockscreen lock, however the issue still happens. At this point I was afraid I would not be able to use the device anymore, but luckily I went back to MIUI 10 Oreo and completed the setup successfully.
I still want to try Pie. Has anyone else had this issue?
Thanks.
Hi. I had same issue. I needed to format everything. What i did: format system then i flashed the pie rom. When that was done I formatted. Everything else including data and internal storage. This helped.
Make sure you backup your personal data because you will lose everything.
Android P has a handy little thing called Force Encryption. Once you flash it it auto encrypts to protect your data. You can find zips that turn it off or you can use a recovery that has it built in like OrangeFox.
Or it could be asking for your google account password...
Its asking for your mi account password, just upgraded to pie yesterday. Whenever upgrading disable all fingerprint and other lock screen password ,then upgrade to newer build like from oreo to pie and enable them again.
Likely you have to do in Twrp > WIPE > FORMAT DATA, back up your internal storage on pc bcoz you will lose everything
