Maybe... The latest Emotion UI is already 3.0 and thy didn't give to this one with the Kitkat update. If they do make a lollipop update for this one, The new version of this phone might be out. For their old Phablet the Ascend Mate 2 they have the emotion UI 2 update but They are still waiting for the Kitkat update. If only they are as the other companies to update their software Huawei would be bigger outside of China.

That is why, I am afraid of buying Huawei phones.
I hope this X1 wont be stuck with 4.4.2 forever.
Other products like Sony n others, has a good firmware updates.

I do hope they do make the update. for their customers and for their company. also their phones doesn't have NFC w/c i really would like to have. Their phones look nice and have good specs and price. but if they don't follow up with the regular updates of android or their own UI it may cause old Huawei owners to upgrade and buy new Huawei.
IMHO, software versions generally don't impact what you are able to do with the device from day 1.
A Gingerbread device will still let you install apps, make calls, use the camera, upload/download stuff, browse the internet etc.
You bought this device because of the hardware and what the hardware does, not because of the software version. My Note 3 is still on 4.3 from day 1 (1 year ago) with root and Xposed, and I'm completely satisfied with it.

Actually, im still deciding what to buy so i did some research about the x1. if you don't mind me asking you sir. im stuck with the note 3 and this phone the x1. i know the note 3 would be future proof for about a year or two because of its high specs but i like the metal build, screen size and the fact that the x1 has no physical home button because i don't like it. also the price of the x1 here where i'm at is around 140orm and the note 3 has a discounted price of 200orm for the 32gb version. if you would pick one from the two, which would you rather have?

I have both. They serve different purposes.
The Note 3 for ease of portability and general browsing. The X1 is for media consumption and work email/VPN access to Microsoft Remote Desktop. That is why different screen sizes serve different purposes.
However, the X1 has better network reception than the Note3.

I too have both devices. I actually bought this one because I found the Note 3 screen a bit small for reading PDFs, browsing the web and watching videos. My initial intention was to sell the Note 3 but now I'm not so sure. My feelings on both phones, after a month with the MediaPad X1 and 9 month with the Note 3:
MediaPad X1:
+ The screen size is a joy to use with certain applications and to watch videos. It also allows me to use my thumbs to write on the keyboard in portrait mode. I type much faster this way.
+ Skin tones are rendered more naturally than on AMOLED screens.
+ Battery life. It lasts sooooo much longer than the Note 3.
+ Speaker. Very good sound quality.
- Size. This thing is HUGE. No, let me correct it: GIGANTIC is a more appropriate term. Its main advantage is also its main drawback. The only place it fits is on the back pocket of my jeans and it protrudes like 3-4 cm. Even coat pockets are small for this thing. It is also nearly impossible to answer call with only one hand.
- Poor screen uniformity and washed out blacks.
- Weight. It is noticeably heavier than the Note 3.
- Even tough it fits in my hand (barely), making long calls with it is uncomfortable.
- Support. Huawei's support is a joke and even here on XDA there is little support for this device. This device's user manual is pathetic. There are loads of functionalities that aren't addressed on the manual. The ROMs feel like a rush job with lots of rough edges.
- Only supports memory cards up to 32GB.
- Non removable battery
- No NFC
- On screen home buttons steal a lot of screen space
Note 3:
+ Still fits in my pockets.
+ Blacks are as deep as they get, the screen has perfect uniformity and AMOLED's oversaturated colors are great for games and apps.
+ Support, both from Samsung and here on XDA.
+ Better hardware, better stock ROMs and availability of custom ROMs (if you are into them, which I'm not).
+ Supports cards up to 128 GB
+ Removable battery
+ NFC
+ S-pen (not a deal breaker for me, but it is nice to have)
+ Physical home buttons mean that every single pixel of the screen is used at all times with all applications.
- The screen size is big for a phone but a bit small for certain applications. 6.3" would be a great compromise between the gigantic Mediapad X1 and the not so big Note 3. I owned the Mega 6.3 for a short period and it was just the right compromise. Shame Samgung discontinued it.
- Skin tones are oversaturated and unrealistic, even in Movie, Professional photo (LOL!) or any other display mode meant to desaturate the colors.
- Battery life is O.K. for its class but pales in comparison with the MediaPad X1.
- Better camera
Right now I still haven't decided which one I'll keep but I'll have to make a decision until next week. Whatever I decide, it will be a compromise. The day Samsung makes a Galaxy Note phablet with 6.3" screen and razor thin bezels, I'll have my perfect phone. Until then, I have to make a compromise.

The X1 is not gigantic. It is way smaller than the Nexus 7 and it DOES fit into my work pants front pockets. It even fits in the breast pocket of some of my shirts.
If you want to make long calls, for any phone, the best thing is to sit down compfortably and use a headset whether wired or bluetooth. I participate in hour-long conference calls often, and I have always used a headset. It's bad ergonomics if you don't.
SDcard support - definitely 64Gb is usable in FAT32 format, and I'm sure 128Gb in FAT32 is also usable. I am using a 64Gb card in my X1.
Color reproduction - I don't think you will be looking at a movie that has lots of black in it for most of the movie. Even if you were to be reading comics or black and white manga, most of the screen is white background anyway.
The onscreen buttons in 4.4.2 tend to autohide in media and game playback, so it's not an issue.
As for the rest, I do agree, but I'm not one that chanes devices often, so I'll definitely keep it till the next big thing comes along. *NOT* crapple of course.

When I meant "gigantic", I was making a comparison with phablet class devices. Of course that if you compare to 7" tablets, the X1 is actually much smaller than the competition. Being big or small will depend from user to user. I'm not a short person but I'm far from being tall or having big hands. My advice to any potential buyer is to try it and decide for themselves.

I agree. However, it would be something else to carry in my already filled pockets. At home I use a headset, but on the move I use it with any headset, wired or BT. Again, one should access your his typical uses of the phone.

I tried a 64 GB Sandisk Ultra card and the device didn't recognize it. When I inserted a 32 GB card, also a Sandisk Ultra, it was immediately recognized. Both where formatted in FAT32. Which card are you using? I would love to have 64 GB on my X1.

I tend to agree with you when you say that most of the times it will not be an issue. However, the difference does exist. My X1 has notorious light bleed around the edges. It is very noticeable with a uniform black screen background. Is my device faulty? How does yours behave?

Not in media and game playback but you have to hide them manually in all other applications, which I find annoying.

for 64GB card u can try format first to fat32 at yr PC using mini partition after that format again using yr x1.it work for me .
Update: I've finally made a decision. I'm keeping my Note 3 and selling my MediaPad X1. As much as I love the long battery life and the big screen, it is just no practical to use all day long as a phone. I could live with its other flaws but I'm tired of feeling something this heavy in my pocket, of its cumbersome use for calls and feeling like I'm carrying a small brick in my pants in general. It is a great device if this doesn't bother you.
I'm moving back to the Note 3 forums. To all you gentlemen who I've interacted with in this forum, my best regards.
Good for you. As amazing a device this is, it is not for everyone. I routinely flip between this and other smaller flagship phones but this phone always trumps for battery life and screen size. With a smart watch and headset it is manageable but sometimes I long for a normal 5" or so smartphone in my pocket. Cheers.

I have just been evaluating the two side my side for the past fortnight trying to decide which to keep.
Hightlights of the z5c have been its size, speaker quality, and overall build quality. Micro SD slot is handy and waterproofness is nice to have. However I have found the camera to be very disappointing and slow to use and the results average. Also the smaller screen size can make operating Xperia keyboard and text input frustrating at times.. I dont htink the screen is as good as the one the Nexus but maybe thats just me. Excellent battery life. I have only tried Sony factory ROM and was not aware that others such as CM are available yet?
Highights of the Nexus 5x have been the crisp clean Marshmallow interface, good screen and excellent point and shoot camera. Screen is not as repsonsive as x5c when it needs to dim in a dark environment. It has a Terrific keyboard that is really accurate and easy to use. along with best fingerprint reader I have used. Downsides to it are its plasticy design with protruding lens which makes me reluctant to put it down on its back on a desk. even though I know the lens will not contact the desk. A Google Adopted TPU case fixed this though. But as soon as you encase it no-one will have any idea it is a google phone. Speaker is crappy and poor sound quality compered to z5c. USB C power cables are orphans and mean you cannot use existing A cables existing devices most people have. Couple this with a mediocre battery life can be problematic. Biggest downside for me though is its size. Too big too put into from jeans pocket and protrudes an inch or so out the top of shirt pocket.
So I ended up selling my 5x and keeping the z5c. My hope is that Sony will do something in the marshmallow update to improve the point and shoot usabilty of the camera. Hope this helps.

I haven't tested the 5x yet, but have the z5c for about two weeks now and in my opinion there are two main issues with the z5c:
First the display colors really seem to be washed out, the black is more a really dark grey than a black (I don't know if this is due to a defect screen or if this is the case for all z5c's), also the display resolution of 720p isn't really enough for me as I clearly can see the edges of round app icons for example even when I'm farther away from the screen.
Also the increase of the phone temperature during prolonged use really bothers me, but that's a known issue of the Snapdragon 810. The camera is just okay, I honestly expected more, especially in low light conditions. But as far as is understand this is rather a post-processing issue than an hardware issue, I hope this improves with Marshmallow.
Two plus points are good battery live (maybe also due to the relatively low res screen) and the overall speed of the phone, which really has improved since the last firmware update.
I had both phones at the same time. Here are my thoughts:
Z5 Compact
+ I prefer the phone size much better
+ I play ingress, so prefer the better battery life and single handed use
+ I have a couple of external battery packs, which quick charge the Z5C
+ Waterproof
+ Really like that Sony went with regular micro-USB connector unlike the Z3C
+ Expandable memory. This can become expanded internal memory in Marshmallow
+ I love Tap to Wake
+ It is a sexy looking device
- Thicker than the N5X
- Not thrilled that the volume rocker is below the power button
- Surely majority of folks don't use the wrist strap feature?! It's a dust collector for me.
- Typing an issue on a smaller keyboard
- Voice recognition is iffy
- I hate that I don't have the option to turn off the notification light at when charging at night (always have to remember to place the phone facedown)
- Run hot under heavy use, but I use a case to avoid the slipper glass on the back anyway
Nexus 5X
+ Clean UI
+ Fast updates
+ Better fingerprint sensor
+ Thin and light
+ Better typing experience
+ Ambient display
- Too large for single-handed use
- Camera pops out like a nipple - could be seen as a positive
- USB-C means new expense on cables and charger (consider the added expenses here)
- My external chargers will work with N5X, but will not charge as quick as a licensed Qualcomm Quickcharge phone
- The vibration motor is a lot harsher than the Z5C. Not a fan.
- The mono speaker seems to be facing the back, but there is no opening on the back, so sound is kinda muffled.
- What's the deal with the giant bezel?!
- No expanded memory support
- The internal specs are lower (808 vs 810 in Z5C, and Adreno 418 vs 430 in Z5C). The Z5C guts are actually in the Nexus 6P, but with 3GB RAM.
I ended up returning the Nexus 5X primarily because of the size and having to make sure I have a USB-C cable handy in case I run through the battery. Even when I had the phone charging while I was playing ingress, the phone battery was discharging faster than recharging.
The Z5C is very comfortable to use. I do have an itch for a completely bloat free UI, with Marshmallow. Once unlock and root processes eventually get released/cleaned-up, the Z5C will be take a bigger bite into the Nexus 5X's main selling point.
N5X advantages:
- Camera (for photos) is in another league, look at the camera samples, the photos are very sharp compared to all Sony Z cameras.
- Fast updates.
- Stock clean Android (only Google apps that can be disabled) / Camera2 API / probably…not sure: Google Now Always ON / etc
Z5C adv:
- Battery life (If N5X battery life is less than 50% better than N5 battery, then it still really sux).
- Size (subjective)
- SoC 810 is much better.
- Long battery life when gaming.
- Some General hardware~ (mic quality / screen quality / etc).

So, I had nexus 5x for 1.5 month, got 5x after beloved Sony z5c international with fingerprint reader and wrist strap due to switching to verizon from ATT and it was cheapest of the semi-decent phones. I regret both.
1. While its compatible, and verizon sim works, i barely get signal 3G LTE to none while my other friends right next to me with iphones and samsung phones get high speed full bars 4g lte, so must be poor antenna or not fully compatible with verizon as claimed. And mind you its after hours on the phone with verizon i got it to even work. When i try send emails most times it flashes message every 1-2 seconds "no connection" "retry" then "connected", that creates multiple drafts when im trying to send email, nuisance to say the least. Or messages I thought were sent stuck in limbo, shown sent on device, but when login to email account from pc it isnt sent or even in drafts, so its on a device stuck, not sent even when connected while shown as sent on device.
2. giant phone not one handed. And no wrist strap hook!
3. Poor photo quality, no depth, poor resolution, only way to focus camera is to take 1 shot only then it tries to focus, any other way it would normally work on z5c with green to red focus window is not available. I tweaked it a bit using camera MX but even so, mediocre original software & hardware.
3. Pricy and no expansion memory, i got 32gb, and OS + apps already took over 20gb, and mind you i only have very few brain games and productivity apps like docsToGo that do not take much space, rest is android os itself upfront.
4. Not waterproof or resistant. Even when water droplet hits center of screen it acts out thinking its my finger, z5c did not react same way to water at all, it ignored it mostly, only responding to finger.
5. google keyboard is horrible, not even arrows to move coursor right or left within text, and gokeyboard became commercialized with adds so.. i didnt find better alternative, and you have to be precise getting it into right spot to insert extra words in between especially at the beginning of paragraph.
6. New Android version lost too many good features gaining none. Like little menu on the bottom right to close all open apps at once, gone! Now you have to manually close each app. specific to z5c mini apps like calculator, browser that can be used simultaneously with other apps window in window, shown both at once of course not included, and nothing similar available.
7. Battery life poor. I had about 5hours browsing no video out of it before it hits 20% mark from 100%, with video even faster. While usb c helps charge faster, true, but it doesnt help battery life , and no wireless charging, adapters just came to market, i do not think ill keep phone long enough to try if it works.
8. Back to memory expansion, so forget microsd, but even usb wont work. I have samsung duo usb3 to micro usb, so attempt 1 was to use anker adapter with my samsung usbduo drive and it didnt even register the drive. So i went ahead and bought an app to register usb c drive, didnt work. attempt 2 after shelling out for the nexus 5x compatible app, bought usb c flash drive guess what, only registers with that app, and even then cant just browse folders and files, open, work with file, save, ..no. you would have to copy to phone then work with file, save to phone only, and only then copy or move back to usb c drive. Really! So i scrapped that plan, went cloud, and got rid of usb c drive.
9. When plug in to pc have to manually each time select transfer files or it will only charge by default, havent found way to change that either.
10. Camera and fingerprint reader so close, guess where your fingerprint lands most times? Yup, keep wiping the camera lense.
11. Cherry on top, doesnt come with usb c to usb 2.0 or usb 3.0 cable, google store omitted that just saying charger and usb c cable, so as you discover that fact and jumping to look for a cable thats never seems available in google store site, your return time slot is closing down on you ..14 days..and you cant even test it with pc plugged in..
So, good stuff..fingerprint scanner works, usb c charge faster by 2x time.. that is about it.
Contacted google store and since its over 14 days = nonrefundable.
Conclusion, I am going back to AT&T and my beloved z5c! Yes, it doesnt have usb c and older (better version of android).. but guess what small, waterproof, has wriststrap to phone not just case, faster, better camera, better photos album layout, keyboard, LTE 4G without hangs and drops, same fingerprint scanner, and if i left out anything else, its there, on that sweet small device.
Perhaps someone else might find 5x mediocre good enough and cheap enough but for me I am ok going back to proven to be better for same price!

The Sony ui is still full of bugs but marshmallow performs at a decent level. Still nothing to compete with it in its size class.

The z5c is a great phone, its just the battery life isn't the best in my opinion......you ever consider thinking of the Z3C? Im sure its a no since its been 2 years passed.

Z3c edges out slightly better in performance and dev support. BUT it has side charging port and flaps, not the most practical. It's all about your price range really.

Just like guy from above said, its all about your price/how much you can afford, ppl mainly go for nexus 5x for fast updates (pretty much it). If you not picky on the year, Z3C is your best bet if you want performance and best battery life and plus theres a unique developer at the Z3C forum that has been making the Z3C a perfect phone for anyone. The reason I got the Z5C is because I had screen issues on the Z3C and plus i was still in love of the compact series of the xperia. Z5C is doing fine for me

Your welcome, be sure to go to the Z3C forum if you have additional questions, its really a good phone. I recommend flashing this rom to make your phone very unique but before doing that, you need root and recovery, thank God its easier to do it without unlocking the boot loader, just zoom in that forum for all of your questions, I wish you the best of luck!

I suggest you cancel the z3c order. The Z3/Z3c is easy to has touch issue after 12~16 months, the touch panel life cycle is short, my friend Z3 got screen problem right after his warranty expired a few days(exactly 12 months passed) and he fuxked up and switched to Iphone, he was a Sony fans with only SE/Sony phones used in his life.
I admit Z3c got better software development, battery and thermal control. However, the camera on Z3c is worse than Z1c/Z5c. But if you only want a cheap compact and don't care buy another one after 1~2 years then Z3c is still a good choice.

Thank you very much though as (un)lucky as I am, I've returned the z3c via amazon but then I'm back looking, maybe I only have the z5c or something like htc m8 to go after.
Usually the weeks after the launch of a phone especially one that was so anticipated the boards are absolutely full of user feedback.
It feels strangely dead here.
I held back on a purchase just to hear what people were thinking - particularly about the standard Mate 10 but there's very little happening.
Even on Google there is very little information on the Mate 10 (a lot on the pro) and very little user follow-up/long term reviews.
It's slightly un-nerving.
So ARE people buying this phone (the pro at least because of the availability)? Are you liking it? What's the experience been like? What DON'T you like......

Pros
Battery life. Good speed. I have to stress the battery life. The best I've ever had on a phone. EVER. Over 7 hrs SOT. Easily lasts 2 days.
Cons
WiFi is unacceptable. I constantly have to switch to 4g.
Camera for me is not good enough.
A little buggy at times. Couple of random reboots, one or two other minor weird stuff.
I brought this phone whilst my HTC u11+ gets repaired. I thought I may stick with the Huawei, however due to the cons I think I'll go back to the HTC u11+ (a better overall phone for me)

I've only had the Mate 10 for about a week, and it's growing on me. As posted above, the battery life is SUPERB. 7+ hours of SOT, close to 2 days standby. Fast charging (which requires Huawei's proprietary charger and a 5 amp type C cable) is also amazing. As is the speed and accuracy of the front fingerprint reader (and it's great that it can be tapped, long-tapped and swiped).
I think the screen, camera and speed are all excellent and, having originally thought about returning it (I was coming from a Note 4), I think it's now a keeper, although, like the OP, I'm surprised at how quiet the community has been.
Some cons: I hate the volume buttons placement, on the right side just above power. It's a pain since I like to use them for reading and cursor control, and I'm used to doing that with my thumb on the left side. I also am disappointed that there's not TWRP yet, as I'm used to GMD Gesture Control and Titanium, although I'm finding relatively decent substitutes.
Other pros: 3.0 type C charger, great sound, IR blaster, SD Card, dual-sim, comes with a usable case (the phone is otherwise slippery).
I purchased the regular Mate 10, AL00 rebranded to L29, so it has 6 gigs of ram/128 gigs of storage. I believe I'm having some buyers remorse. It's just not a big enough upgrade from the Mate 9. As a matter of fact, I still often pick up and play around with my Mate 9. I've only had the 10 for about 4 days and am debating on selling it, probably at a $100/$150 loss.
Two aspects I was excited for, the updated screen and offscreen button, both have issues for me. The screen isn't nearly as bright as the Mate 9 which makes it look a little duller, but is much sharper. There is also an adaptive brightness issue which causes certain screens and apps to dim and cannot be toggled off. The fingerprint sensor is still super fast but using it as the offscreen buttons can be problematic for those with larger fingers. It's so small and very close to the app drawer button, provided you use one as I do.
The added thickness is also quite noticeable to me. Despite being taller and wider, the Mate 9 seems more comfortable in my hands.

My s7 edge has the buttons on the different side, and my P10 plus has it on the same side but with a different texture on the power button instead. I have the Mate 10 pro since it's availability, but I sometimes still push the wrong button. It is not a deal breaker, just something to note.
i might consider checking it out if you are selling.

You're having WiFi issues as well as some random bugs? I haven't heard much of this anywhere so I am curious now. What is wrong with the WiFi? And random reboots? Have you factory reset? What model/version do you have / are you running and did you rebrand?
I have the Mate 10 and since its officially available where i live, the price in Asia and Middle East is a pretty strong point (620$ for 4gb/64gb) and even better i got my hands on a Mate 10 that was only couple days used for 500$. So there is no regrets for me at all considering the excellent pricing for a flagship phone. Moreover i have been using a P9 plus which is almost 2 years old. So the Mate 10 is a proper upgrade for me.
Initially i was breaking my head over whether to buy the Mate 10 or Mate 10 pro (was it worth 200$ more?). It was a debate between big 16:9 screen, QHD, front fp (really important for me), cheaper price versus an oled screen with a 5.5inch gotten taller 18:9 ratio, narrow better in hand feel, blue color, 2 day battery life. Coming from a 5.5 inch oled display phone, i was expecting Mate 10 pro to be the right choice. But after getting the Mate 10 i have to say i don't really feel that urge to get the Mate 10 pro anymore. So i am now in a stage where i just wait and if i come across a good deal for Mate 10 pro i might give it a try.
Initial hands on the phone felt wide to hold but soon after usage of the phone the muscle memory or whatever kicks in and you get used to it. I have used the Huawei TPU case for a while but couple days ago realized again how much thickness it adds to the phone and the real phone without the case feels far slimmer and the edge to edge bezels shows its real self. So i will be getting myself a pouch case to protect the phone in pocket while able to use the phone without any case in real usage rather than miss out such an important part of the phone, the built quality.
The display as mentioned elsewhere i have gotten spoilt by the QHD and big screen. The narrow and tall 18:9 FHD+ just does not woo me anymore. Deeper black of Oled is compensated by the purer white of the IPS. And i don't have a note 8 near me to compare and complain, so in stand alone usage and compared to what phone i was using all along, the display is a great upgrade for me. And yes the battery life would be better with an oled but for my personal usage i go to bed with enough battery to watch a dozen youtube videos and still have at least 30% battery left, and charge the phone back in 30 minutes of shower in the morning. So i have nothing to complain personally.
I am not a camera guy so can't say much other than that it is a huge upgrade from my existing Leica of P9 plus. From all the reviews online, its camera is clearly in flagship territory. And i guess there is a personal preference that comes in that makes people to prefer one among Pixel 2 series, Iphone X, Note 8 and Mate 10 series camera.
I have been using Huawei phones for a while so have a natural inclination to Huawei over other brands. LG & Samsung is a no no for me. One plus feels like a wannabe. Pixel 2 is overpriced outside USA. Personally not inclined to HTC. I was close to getting the Essential phone for being such a compact and minimal bezel phone. But the availability outside US and camera performance kept me away.
The only con is that Huawei did not bring much changes to the UI, whereas they used to have significant UI upgrade with every year. This year they brought out the Oreo and added few Oreo features, and cleaned up the settings and then called it EMUI 8. So not much visible changes to the UI experience and there are still places on the UI where they have to do a lot more refining and staying ahead.

Hey, thanks. Yeah the phone suddenly seems lost between the OnePlus 5t, the U11+, the LaV30, the Google, the Apple and the i phone!
Not to mention now, it's very own Honor V10.
The uptake, looking at the boards seems to have been tempered somewhat by....I don't know... The camera? The lack of ear-phone jack? The screen resolution?
I can't put my finger on it but the Mate9 was far more successful in drumming up a critical mass of users here on XDA.
I think Huawei's Mate release this year may have been a little muddled and I get the feeling that the Mate core user actually wants the 10 standard and not the pro and that they can't find it?
The competition is really deep this year.... I'll keep watching the boards but it's like.....brrrrrr.... So far.
Got a Mate Pro. Absolutely love it.
I got a Pixel 2XL at the same time and I really can't decide which one to use. Got the Pixel as my private phone and Huawei as my work phone.
The Pixel camera is as good as the reviews say, but the Mate's is as good if you ask me. It certainly is more flexible and had many more options.
Battery life is excellent as mentioned by others.
The screen is fine and plenty bright enough. I honestly can't see any circumstances where I'd want it to be brighter than Mac can take it.
HDR for YouTube can be enabled.
No issues with WiFi here.
As for slow uptake, a quick search of the internet shows that the Mate at least is breaking sales records for Huawei.

Yes, this is the feeling I'm getting looking around the internet, particularly on the screen brightness AND this funny adaptive thing one seems not to be able to control.
I think, particularly with the move from Mate 9 to the 10, with the technology seemingly plateaued for 2017, that perhaps they didn't go far enough in redesign?
The anticipation for the phone is not being matched by the number of people buying. Clearly the fact that it is only the pro being made easily available in the West has something to do with it - because Mate 9 users and Mate 9 pro users are different profiles.
Where the Mate 9 managed to carve out a nice for itself apart from the regular contenders, the pro sat right in the middle of it's competitors, and this year, is overtaken by the screen.
It's fascinating I think - also, what does it mean for discussion on the standard Mate 10? When you go to Google, almost all the results returned concern the Mate 10 pro....and it is being experienced completely outside of the impact that the Mate 9 had.
Anyway, thanks, I'm in Kenya and so both phones have just been released and are available now.
I have this niggling suspicion that the P11 & P11 Plus will have to pull something special out of the box to change the situation.
Also..... The Honor V10 then feels like it's in direct competition - apart from it's screen. It's all very strange indeed.

The WiFi is very slow particularly when I am a little further away from my router. Note. This was not the case for any other phone. E.g. Samsung s8 and HTC u11+. I even did a side by side test and Huawei failed miserably. I am now at a point where I pretty much have to leave WiFi off as do not want to wait for pages to load. I have had 3 random reboots in 7 days.
I have not done a factory reset. And not rooted rebranded etc. I brought from carphone warehouse UK.

I am undecided between U11+ and mate10.
why repaired u11+ after 2 weeks?
u11+ better camera,auto hdr for photos ,audio and new 18:9 but HTC sense has less feature.
mate 10 Emui has a lot features but no auto hdr for photos, and 16:9
I dropped the HTC and the camera would not load. Other than that I loved it. Screen could be better as LCD. But still very good. I will be going back to HTC over Huawei.
Got mine yesterday sold my iPhone x to get this and love it, mainly bought for projection mode with no need for a dock like the S8 really find this useful.
Would be happier with Google Services.

I got my Mate 10 three weeks ago. In the first week, I was not happy with the phone because it can not get google services in full operation. Google cannot even get the phone number lift out of this phone. However now I am quite impressed by the features from this phone that others mentioned, battery, fast fingerprint. I am particularly happy with camera, screen and buttons. My previous phone was Samsung GS7 Edge.
Now, I will be much happier if I can get Google services work on this phone. Without phone number association to the phone, cannot use find a phone, track a phone, and other administrative features of the phone from google.
I assume your re-branding it to L29 would resolve this issue. I actually tried to use DC-unlocker as well as FH Mate 10 tool. I don't have bootloader code that i could not pass either of the tools. Would you please share your way of re-branding and give me some suggestions?

Check out the FunkyHuawei thread on this forum. That seems to be the best way to rebrand your device to L29 (or any version for that matter), though you do have to pay to do that. But if it is the difference between having google services and not having google services, I would definitely suggest looking into it!

For the last few months I've been waiting to upgrade my phone and I came to the conclusion that the mate 20 pro offer the best in term of price/value compared to P30 pro and S10/S10+.
I contacted an official Huawei retailer where I live and he told me the mate 20 pro is finally available with official warranty, I asked him about the screen gluegate issue and he told me many units were sold and there was no issues.
With that being said should I go for it and assume the newer batches don't have this issue?
In worst case scenario the screen will be replaced for free under warranty.
I purchased my Mate 20 Pro about a month and a half ago, and I've overall been very pleased with the device. I, too, bought the phone because it has everything I'm looking for in a smartphone at an affordable price.
Many have sung the praises of this phone and I concur. Overall, it's great. Battery performance amazing, the screen is beautiful to look at and the phone is snappy in every regard. I enjoy the stereo speakers of the phone, they're loud, clear and have some underlying bass, but they do not get as loud as the S9/S10 speakers. The earpiece is also significantly weaker than the bottom-firing one, delivering the high tones whereas the bottom-firing speaker has both louder volume and carries the bass.
The battery life is consistent and gets me around 7-8 hours of SOT with about 2 hours of off-screen Youtube Vanced playback. That's absolutely stellar. And when you eventually run out of battery after a long day or two, the supercharge charges the phone incredibly quickly, but the phone gets really warm in the process.
The optical fingerprint reader is good most of the time, but really finnicky at other times. I set up the 3D face unlock and never looked back, but having both options for unlocking the device makes it incredibly convenient.
The ergonomics of the device are great as well. The placement of the buttons is perfect, the phone feels good in the hand - and it's quite nice to look at as well.
At 750 USD which was the price I got the phone for, I'd say it's a great deal - especially when a S10+ is about 1000 USD. You aren't giving up much in terms of quality (screen and speaker quality) but you'll get amazing battery life in return and $250 to spend on whatever else you like.

Well in terms of price it's around the S10E but way cheaper than S10+, I was thinking the E was my safest option but I'd give up a lot compared to mate 20 pro so the E is out of the way for me.
I assume u didn't face any problems regarding the screen green tint which is my biggest concern.
I think I'll go for the mate 20 pro and hope for the best, wish me luck.
I forgot to mention that only the exynos varient is available in my region for the S10 series. So I guess that's one more reason to get the mate 20.
I've had my Mate 20 Pro for about 3.5 weeks now and it's had absolutely no screen or build quality issues. If you go for the Twilight version, get a case as it's slippery without.

I think i'm gonna get the black version, and i'm gonna buy a case either way.
I bough mine 2 weeks ago, new, a black unit with BOE (free app device info hw can tell you whether the screen is BOE or LG, supposedly LG screens are prone to having issues, personally, I think that was just early units) display for $690 on ebay. Very happy with the phone. Followed the guide to uninstall hisearch. Phone has updated since but hisearch didn't come back, it was so annoying trying to swipe down the notifications and accidentally triggering hisearch. Unlike my previous phones, typical cases don't seem to protect the screen well enough. I bought the official flip case (the one with the small window on the front cover) because I'm worried about the edges of the screen, regular cases don't seem to have a lip big enough to protect them well. It's a little inconvenient but worth the trade off IMO. It's a popular phone so there is a decent case selection and reviews of cases are easy to find.
If I could unlock the bootloader and root it, it would be perfect but even as is, it's a great phone. If you use a smartwatch, be prepared to dig deep into battery settings to enable push notifications. The supercharger works great but I prefer just regular charging. I haven't seen any proof that supercharging is bad, it's just my reasoning to charge it slower to preserve the great battery life in the long term. I don't change phones often so seeing how well newest gen cameras perform was a bit of a surprise.

Finally got my dbrand skins through and my fit bag so got it all together ,had the same combination on my one plus 6t but that had just a Matt black skin,went for swarm this time and it looks great.Works for me fit bag for when in pocket ,skin and no SP when out of the pocket

Ok, here is my thoughts so far coming from a Note 10 Plus.
I must say I miss the wideness of the note in my hand, this phone is the same length wise but about a quarter inch thinner. It doesn't feel as comfortable in my hand. I don't care for the two button shutdown, would prefer the right button was just that, a power button. Going to have to retrain my brain for right side power again.
They have put a manual three position switch just above the power button for sound/vibrate/silent. Seems unnecessary to me and I don't see myself using it much. Just as easy to use the pull down menu.
I live in Florida and had the phone overheat outdoors yesterday. That is not a good thing. First phone I have ever had that happen to for regular outdoor use. Might be a deal breaker.
I find the phone snappy and played a number of hours of COD mobile last night at highest settings and the phone handled it with ease. No complaints there, plenty of power.
Wireless android auto works! Yes!
Going to take a while to get used to the new OS settings menus but so far pretty straight forward. I use Nova Launcher so not alot different in reality.
Charging is quick, battery life is on par with Note.
I find the display more vibrant and clearer than the note. I have it maxed and this may be costing me a lot of battery, time will tell.
I found the packaging lacking in spiffs like headphones and extras like transfer dongles etc. For the price it should include somethings of this nature.
Cases are few and far between, seems they were caught with their pants down with a design change.
Dual sim IS NOT WORKING. Upsetting because that is the primary reason I bought it.
You are going to go through growing pains with Verizon. You can use the chat function and just tell them to "engage CDMA-less provisioning" and they will get it sorted.
Overall I would give it a 7 out of 10. That may change if the heat issue is addressed and dual sim.
The manual switch for volume is very handy for social environments where using the phone is bad manners. You can check if your phone is silent without taking it out of your pocket, and silence it In your pocket.
It s a feature i will miss if i move away from oneplus someday.

I must say I miss the wideness of the note in my hand, this phone is the same length wise but about a quarter inch thinner. It doesn't feel as comfortable in my hand. They have put a manual three position switch just above the power button for sound/vibrate/silent. Seems unnecessary to me and I don't see myself using it much. Just as easy to use the pull down menu.
I live in Florida and had the phone overheat outdoors yesterday. That is not a good thing. First phone I have ever had that happen to for regular outdoor use. Might be a deal breaker.
I find the phone snappy and played a number of hours of COD mobile last night at highest settings and the phone handled it with ease. No complaints there, plenty of power.
Wireless android auto works! Yes!
Going to take a while to get used to the new OS settings menus but so far pretty straight forward. I use Nova Launcher so not alot different in reality.
Charging is quick, battery life is on par with Note.
I find the display more vibrant and clearer than the note. I have it maxed and this may be costing me a lot of battery, time will tell.
I found the packaging lacking in spiffs like headphones and extras like transfer dongles etc. For the price it should include somethings of this nature.
Cases are few and far between, seems they were caught with their pants down with a design change.
Dual sim IS NOT WORKING. Upsetting because that is the primary reason I bought it.
You are going to go through growing pains with Verizon. You can use the chat function and just tell them to "engage CDMA-less provisioning" and they will get it sorted.
Overall I would give it a 7 out of 10. That may change if the heat issue is addressed and dual sim.

Well, I got Oneplus 8 pro finally.
Only two days, but so far so good - I like the speed and haven't seen any significant problems.

So this is my second day with my one plus 8 pro, had my eye on this company since their first release one plus one, but for me, it was all about the quality and the build, i just switched from my Huawei p20 pro ( i was close to getting the 40 pro but because of google problem I changed my mind and also for their slow updates and the bootloader lock ) so what I like about one plus 8 pro , Display, sound, fingerprint, scanner accuracy, wifi speed, customization, and fast operation, it is really a fast phone
I miss lots of things about my p20 pro
Build quality, camera, notification light, solid phone network connection, the weather app, the split-screen, the hidden app function.
I am still using it and hope one day i fall in love with one plus 8 pro as I did with Huawei.

There's a hidden app function in the oneplus 8 pro (just place two fingers on a blank area of the screen and stretch out). Plenty of weather apps on the Play Store although, if you're particular about what weather app to use (there are good and bad ones) you could try TodayWeather which I've recently installed and has more or less replaced my old app (DarkSky) for functionality and presentation.

Thank you, the apps were the easy part, now I am having an issue with poor wifi reception, overheating and sluggish performance something with the memory, the gallery will not open smoothly
Reset the phone or clear cache didn't fix it
I am honestly thinking it was a big mistake buying this phone..
hope they can fix their issues soon

To be honest, If they fix all the issues like overheating, power drain, wifi, and data connection it will be a great phone.
I love the display, speed, sound and the camera ( it takes good pictures)
I am waiting for software updates and hope they will be fixed soon if not, it will be for sale on eBay.
Honestly other than the better camera and wireless charging I prefer the OP7 Pro/7t Pro.

Why?
1 - The slightly wider aspect ratio. (Think we need to move away from the diagonal to categorise screen size but that is a whole other conversation)
2 - No cut out
3 - No screen burn-in issues
4 - No green tint/black crush issues
5 - GCAM really improves the 7 pro camera and does not seem to do the same for 8 pro, therefore a 7 pro with gcam is pretty close at least on the main lens
6 - Prefer the blue to the green
Yes the 8 Pro is better overall for sure but right now the 7 pro is almost half the price so when you factor in cost too I think I prefer the 7 pro. To qualify, I have owned an 8 pro and then re-purchased a 7 pro.
