I would like to reset my honor 9 and delete all my personal data but keep the current emui version. How can I do that?

Settings / System / Reset / Reset Phone
will reboot to recovery mode, where stock recovery will reset all your userdatas (while keeping current firmware).

Have you latest version of the recovery? Try Phil or twrp if use CWM.

Hello everybody,
I just got a refurbished Korean S3 (SHV-E210S LTE) which came with the official 4.3 Jellybean firmware.
When the new KitKat 4.4.4 official ROM was released, I downloaded and flashed it into my device. However, after flashing (using ODIN) the phone does not have any sound anymore. NO sound whatsoever comes from the speakers, the only sound comes from the earpiece (I tested with the diagnostics tool). I tried doing a factory reset and cleared the cache (Vol UP + Power + Menu) and noticed that it played sound but after rebooting a couple of times the sound doesn't play anymore, even after repeating flashing the firmware. I tried reverting to the 4.3 Rom but still with no success. No sound!!
Also, I flashed the CF-Root version for my device but after starting the phone says "Sorry, SU was unable to start". Trying to click on the icon to open SuperSU also displays the warning message. This root issue also goes for the 4.3 JB Rom.
Please, anyone has any idea what I can do to get my phone working again?
Thank you very much for your help.
Do a deep clean: install a custom recovery like cwm, philz or twrp, do a full wipe (wipe data, cache and dalvik cache) and format system and preload partitions. After this, flash stock rom with Odin. I hope sounds returns

Thanks mate. But I would like to know, (sorry I'm newbie) do the recovery apps have these features already in them or do I have to find another way of doing the deep clean. I mean, like the system formatting and partition preloading, I have no idea how I'll do it.
Thanks again for your help.

Custom recoveries do these things without any kind of applications...I suggest you to flash philz recovery which you find on XDA

Hi all,
I have been trying to full wipe/ factory reset my phone (the traditional value) using the Odin (and smart switch). Both the methods showed that the phone was being erased however after reboot all my data and setting were still in tact. So the question is does Odin/ Smart switch act as an alternative to factory reset through android/ recovery? I'm kinda confused.
Odin does not have an option to factory reset, and it never touches the data/media on your phone... of course your phone should lose all settings since generally the /system partition gets erased before flash, but your /data/media partition is still intact.

Well, that's the funny bit. Non of the settings are changed as well..everything intact although Odin said success...

That depends on firmware, you have to manually factory reset from recovery.

That's what I thought too..
I rooted my x829 and flashed TWRP (v3.0.2-1) and Lineage 13.1. Since I want to try other ROMs to see if they can fix the fp sensor problem, I use TWRP to back up this ROM and wiped/reflashed other ROMs. Later I tried to restore this ROM, everything seems fine but the recovered ROM lost my unlock pattern. This prevented me from unlocking the screen. I have to wipe and flash the ROM again. When I back up, I selected system, data and boot. After I restore, I wiped cache and dalvik. Not sure what I did wrong. Anyone has idea or is it possible the TWRP has some bug related to backup/restore? Thanks a lot.
don't know the cause but it's easy to fix.

So my bootloader is unlocked and i wanna flash twrp but i have seen threads here that miui is encrypted by default and i need to format data in twrp in order to boot after i flash twrp. So, guide me what should i do as i dont wanna lose my apps and data after flashing twrp
Another question if i flash the older version of miui rom using mi flash tool, will it lock my bootloader back or not?
Hi,
You can easily backup your data & apps with this Miui feature:
Go settings-> additionnal settings-> Backup & reset
I don't think Miui is encrypted by default. Normally you can flash twrp without any lost..

Yes i can backup but i won't get the data of apps like game score etc with that backup, i guess
Btw is twrp 3.1.0 working fine with miui 8.2.4 ?
Yes it does. Just install TWRP, Boot into recovery (TWRP) and install LazyFlasher. Now you can boot to system. Voila!

Yep, it is a bug with TWRP.
You can't make an nandroid backup with the current twrp, just take efs backup, you're safe.
I made a backup with default settings (system, data and boot) without problems.
Before you make a backup switch off security pattern just in case...

I am not sure how efs backup works. I backed up my apps using titaium backup and in case my device won't bootup i will just flash fastboot rom and restore apps via titanium itself until the bug in twrp is fixed!
Thanks

What xiomi mean by chinese sh!t language which translates to "DEVICE DOES NOT EXISTS"
You might get a proper answer if you ask reasonably.
