Hi Guys,
unfortunately i didn´t had a lot of time the last few months to read here the forums or to try different roms but ive seen that it is possible to run Pie stable on our phones. (actually on H930 Stock Oreo rooted).
Im really satisfied at the moment but of course i would upgrade my phone if it comes with more pro´s as cons - ive readen that there are still some LG known bugs/problems with Pie
So, maybe you guys can help me to decide for upgrade or not, that whats really important for me is:
Music
Actually iam using PowerAmp with Whiskeyomega´s Mods and iam really satisfied with the quality and of course volume
Ive read that Whiskeyomegas Mods arent working on pie anymore and i saw an him-force mod for pie.
Is there a way to get the earphones shout like they do with mods on oreo or is it really that bad like some ppl say?
(Maybe i should mention that ill go for rooted stock again, no AOSP or else)
Cam
Of course i want to use all features of my cam - wide angle and stuff - i want to go for rooted Stock so this shouldnt be a big problem with stock cam or is it buggy too?
Hows about development of the Pixel/Gcam ports? The most interesting thing would be night-vision?
Fast OS
When i installed Pie for first time (months ago) it was very laggy, thats why i decided then to leave Oreo on my phone.
Is it still that laggy and is there already somebody debloated it or is there a list which services can be blocked (by Titanium Backup f.e.) for more performance?
What about the different Kernels? Is there a Kernel which should perform better and more stable then stock?
Thx for your help,
regards
Ernesto

You'll get some different answers, but bottom line is current EU H930 030b is still laggy. HOWEVER, the BETA EU H930 30q (yes Q, they jumped a LOT of letters, not sure why) is very fast with all RAM management problems solved). Wait a few more days until it's officially released, we get KDZ and TWRP-flashable zip.
Yes, there are ways to fix the current EU H930 30b lagginess, but involves running custom kernel or other stuff. If you are happy right now, just wait a few more days.
I still use stock camera on stock rooted firmware. But best GCam out there right now is this:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v30/themes/gcam-perfectly-flawless-pie-t3969979
Go to that post #1 of that thread to read the settings. But here's the download link:

Thanks for your reply - ok then ill wait for 30q KDZ or flashable .zip. So camera and a fast&stable OS shouldnt be that problem anymore.
What about the music stuff, is somebody here who used oreo with the sound mods from whiskeyomega and could compare it to the new stock pie?

Just got a P503 that I'm trying to set up for my girlfriend. I know how to use KDZ update and LGMDP. I got a custom recovery on it. I understand the difference between the basebands.
The problem is I can't make any sense out of the Development section. Also, a lot of the links are down (multiupload and megaupload).
This thread: [ROMS] Original LG Firmware list: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865479, doesn't seem to work. I also have the the "Original LG Firmware" download tool, don't remember which thread I got it from, which is supposed to download the latest firmware for the phone. It downloads a V10K_00.kdz. I thought all of the firmwares were V20 by now, or am I wrong?
I'm looking for either 1) latest stock rom, preferably with Chinese language (she's Chinese), also can be slightly modified, maybe over-clockable, or 2) good stable gingerbread based MIUI rom. Can someone help me out?
If you know of another rom that is either as stable as stock, or more stable, and has an extremely easy to use interface, also please let me know. After I give the phone to my girlfriend, I don't want her calling me everyday with problems because of the phone.
Also, as far as I can tell, the P500 and P503 are the same phone with different firmware right? Any firmware compatible with the P500 can be used on the P503. I even saw a few threads where people mentioned LG customer support said this.
Dynamite
Try dynamite.. It's there in the O1 development section. It is based on the stock ROM. I've personally tried it, it's really good and I switched to other ROMs only because I missed the customisation that CyanogenMod offers...
take a look at this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1616069
it's has the iOS user interface (and i think that this one IS extremely easy to use interface),based on CyanogenMod nightly and it available in Chinese....
Now it's up to you to see if it is stable enough to your girlfriend
I looked at and installed the JoyOS. It's nice, got a lot of great features. But it just doesn't feel as awesome as the MIUI on my U8800. It might be a difference in the phone, or it might be the Chinese apps I'm installing with it for my girlfriend, or it might be the OS. Not sure. I'll try Dynamite tomorrow.
However, if anyone knows of a really stable MIUI rom, please let me know. The ones I've seen have problems with apps installed to the SD card.
Dear friends,
It looks like we lost few great dev so far, and face a lot of abandoned rom. Since then, i would try to use one custom ROM for my daily driver, and to use it a long time (since i would go abroad and will not flashing the device on abroad). Which custom ROM is most stable for daily use, and no need to update baseband (because i found it so hard to update). Thanks friends..

Hello.
I'm using currently Rammars Paranoid 4.4.4 http://forum.xda-developers.com/optimus-l9/development/rom-paranoidandroid-4-6-t2933958 , been using it for daily use(mostly twitter, whatsapp and instagram), no problem with that, pretty smooth fast, i suggest using Nova launcher, and if you like eye candy, get the Androidl theme from playstore, as far as you keep away from gaming, and really heavy apps, it is stable. No kernel panics, no unexpected shutdowns/reboots. All great. But the onlydownside, surprinsgly the best battery life i stumbled upon was for rammars lollipop, 5.3.2 the most stable to be exact.
Still, i`m right now about to restore CWM backup of a nandroid (v20h) to be back on stock, becaue, honestly, there won't be a more stable ROM than stock.
If you still have a stock rom installed, updating rom and baseband won't be difficult, if OTA or the LG Flash Tool won't give you anything newer than v20h(like in Europe) you need the appropiate KDZ file.
With a custom rom, seemingly the LG drivers and tools no longer recognize the phone, and getting back to stock or updating bb gets a bit complicated. I wrote down my sad story in Artas' thread, an finally I even succeeded, it's all there.

Sorry for offtopic, but getting back to stock is pretty easy if u use NANDROID, but if you want a full wiple, like the way you bought it, no CWM no nothing, KDZ flashing does the trick.
I'm sorry, didn't notice the baseband thing, on what baseband are you at?
hi i'm used 4.4.4. artas and think it's the better i have a p768
Hello dear Elephants, I'm really honoured to belong here because of my new Elephone S8. I really love the hardware but software is really buggy. So, referring to https://forum.xda-developers.com/elephone-s8/development/rom-elephone-s8-15-10-eragon-1-0-t3689359, is that a good idea to replace the firmware? If some of you is using this ROM, you can also provide me the pros and cons. Many thanks in advance!
If you're familiar with such things, going from stock to custom and back is pretty simple. Why not just give it a test drive?
I'm not so familiar. I've been flashing lots of ROMs in my lifetime but not into this particular device. Which method do I use to flash firmware?
Will I die, if I flash the Eragon ROM from Elephone's firmware update section?
If you're going to run a custom ROM, spending a couple of hours reading through the thread for that ROM might be worth your time, as it will contain the answers to many of your questions and possibly save you from some future troubles.
Thanks! Will do as you say.
I used eragon rom for a few months but the developer has withdrawn from the project and the latest version is not really stable. I had some network problems and some weeks ago I got problems with massive battery drain of about 15% per hour without any heavy usage. The only thing that helped was to go back to stock. Since then I'm on stock rom again and everything is fine now. I don't experience any major differences in performance.
Anyway I hope the developer will continue his work on the S8 and eragon rom in the future, at least if android 8 will be released.
How to revert back to Stock Rom? (From Eragon)

You can download the latest stock version here:
https://bbs.elephone.hk/forum.php?m...ra=page=1&filter=typeid&typeid=151&typeid=151
Unpack the rar file and load the scatter file with flashtool. Be careful which boxes are checked in the list. I accidently deleted all data (including external memory) from the phone because this option was checked by default!
Edit: I have corrected the link above, the first one did not work.
You can also download on Mega with the following link:

I've seen this issue crop up in many custom ROM threads but I haven't seen any resolution.
I am using the US998 model.
After installing several custom ROMs (LineageOS 16.9, LiquidRemix 10.X, AospExtended, and ResurrectionRemix 7.0) and opening YouTube it never gets past the loading icon to display any videos. I can see the options such as Library, Inbox, Subscriptions, etc but none of them load content. The app never transitions to even previews of content or text.
I've tried the following
Clean installs of each ROM (and GApps) from stock Pie
Stock Pie and dirty flash of custom ROM
Uninstall of YouTube with Titanium Backup, then install YouTube from Playstore
The only custom Pie ROM that has YouTube working is Havoc.
I've tried Magisk modules like YouTube Vanced but it doesn't fix the problem.
I enjoy Havok but would prefer a less customized ROM like Lineage (it's my first choice).
Has anyone found a solution for this?
Same exact issue after buying a new LG V30. I didn't have this issue on my old one. Also worth mentioning, my camera doesn't work as well. Everything works on Stock pie. Tried a couple custom roms, none of them work. Same issue as mentioned in this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v30/help/camera-app-issues-upgrading-to-pie-t3974765
Except that thread talks about stock pie, not custom roms.

You read about the camera degradation issues and other sensors for custom ROMs if you've been on stock Pie, right? Even if you downgrade back to Oreo, you will forever have to run permissive kernel on LOS-16 based custom ROMs and it can affect certain functions on stock Oreo as well.
We have enough warnings in all the Pie KDZ threads, it's clearly detailed in the Root Sticky Guide, and linked in the WTF INSTRUCTIONS.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v30/how-to/root-v30-t3927154
* ALSO do NOT update to LG stock Pie yet if you wish to run LOS-16 "Pie" custom ROMs -- at least for now. See REASON HERE. Stock Pie update conflicts with LOS-16 Pie, even if you downgrade back to stock Oreo. After stock Pie update, your phone has been permanently changed/degraded when going back to Oreo for custom ROMs. Using Permissive kernel can overcome some of those issues, but you have been warned.
Whereas you do need to update to stock Pie first as a foundation before trying to install "Android 10" LOS-17 custom ROMs. However, those ROMs are still unfinished work in progress -- so if you don't like them and want to go back to the older stable LOS-16 "Pie" custom ROMs, then you've totally ignored the warning above. Again, stock Pie makes permanent changes.

Basically don't update to stock Pie if you want to run LOS-16 custom ROMs. If you downgrade back to Oreo, you will have flashlight/camera problems and other sensors. Some of that can be overcome with permissive kernel, some can't.
It's one of the reasons I'm still on stock rooted Oreo with Anxious V30 mod and Xposed mods and have not yet updated to stock Pie on my main phone.

Unfortunately I bought it used with Stock Pie on it already, but was still able to bootloader unlock it through the downgrade method.. Is there any way to remove these issues or is it permanent? Would downgrading to Nougat be possible/remedy anything? Is my only option to stay on stock and wait for LOS 10 to be ready?
Hi!
I gave my old V30 away that ran custom ROMs quite a while and flashed it back to stock for that, since the new owner is not a techie. I used a TWRP-flashable stock ROM for this.
But now neither camera nor torchlight do work.
Did I forget something?
You'll need to tell us what ROM you came from. Pie ROMs, for example, can't be TWRP-flashed back to Oreo. Other custom ROMs have even bigger issues.
I would recommend KDZing back to stock. If you're going back to Oreo, you may need to go back to Nougat and then up through the others into Pie, because some of the Oreo KDZ made incremental changes that are needed for Pie. At least that's my understanding on the matter...
Safest would be to back to KDZ Nougat, then go through the rest until you're at the version you want... but there may be some shortcuts.

WHAT stock did you go back to? Oreo or Pie? If you were on LG Pie (and custom ROMS needing LG Pie), going back to stock LG Oreo breaks flashlight and camera. Warnings are listed in the Pie KDZ Guides about this. You have to flash back to Nougat to scrub out the remnants of LG Pie and then you can go to Oreo.
Sometimes even then you have to still run in "permissive" mode to let camera and flashlight work right.
