Help with v30 factory reset data recovery on pie - LG V30 Questions & Answers

First off I would like to apologize if this isn’t the right place for this as I am new and would love to know where to ask this. I mostly just want my memos and was wondering if anyone knew the file type memos are in/stored at? Or the backup itself since it contains the memos.
Okay so, somehow my pocket failed my passcode so my phone factory reset itself. I did manage to backup my phone couple days prior...but it was on my sd card. What would be the best way to recover it? I have tried photores which resulted in 1 Spotify txt. Tried recuva only found 140 misc files. Did dr fone which gave me 70 album artwork. Recoverit gave 203 misc files with some album art. I have tried many more with similar results. I am running multiple of these data recoveries at the same time. Would that mess with the deep search? Any advice would be appreciated as I am going on my third day trying to get this back so I can use my phone again. It is a 256 sandisk microsd in exFAT if that helps ,thank you

What version is your phone running now? Oreo stock? Pie stock?

Pie stock. There is about 100mb on the sd card and from all the other recovery programs all I have recovered is spotify txts and cover art from spotify. If I delete the default android folders would it give me a clean drive to recover from? or would it bury the files I want even deeper making it harder?

What app did u use to backup your phone initially? Titanium Backup? Google? LG? TWRP? Migrate?
Edit: https://forums.androidcentral.com/lg-g4/621075-there-way-recover-quick-memos.html
Does not sound promising to recover memos as they're on internal SD and not external sd

Just the built in LG in the settings

I also found this:
"If you log in with your Google account on another G3 and through the Q-memo app sync your account, you should get your memos"

funny you say on another g3 as I have been wanting to go back to mine, but my memos were on my v30 that has now been factory reset and tried syncing up to no avail since I didn't sync it to my google account I guess. The only backup I am fully aware of is on my sd card that was also erased.

Qmemo is kept on internal SD of the phone, not on ext. SD card.
LQM file is a note created by QuickMemo, an app included on select LG smartphones such as G3 and G4. It contains a note exported from the app, which includes one or more images and annotations applied to the image. LQM files are compressed with Zip compression.

okay, but when I did a backup of my phone to my sd card wouldn't the memos be backed up as well since I checked LG App data?

If so, then Recuva should find some QLM files on external SD card, even if card has been wiped

How did your sd card get wiped? A factory reset doesn't usually touch that.

That's what I thought. reason why I had my backup on there as I thought it be safe, but basically I went to work, put my phone in my pocket as usual and when lunch came around I took out my phone and it was on the welcome screen. Could it have been a virus or malware?

[Q] 3 problems with applications

Hi,
I have 3 problems related to applications for which I can't find solution.
1st is that after removing/uninstalling applications and then restarting phone at some point for whatever reason there are visible remnants of them. (screenshot attached)
I am able to uninstall them again, but after another restart they are back. So how to get rid of them for good?
2nd problem is that certain applications seems to uninstall/delete themselves upon phone reboot. It seems its related to SD card where they put themselves during install. I have tried to move majority of apps back to phone, but seems only some of them are affected by this. There are apps which are installed/moved to SD and they work fine even after restart, so don't know. Maybe some of them are not working after moving to SD? Although for some its strange because they install itself to SD without me moving them.
3rd problem appeared today. Yesterday I have updated to ICS via Kies and installed 5 updates from Market. Today after restart the same apps were back to previous versions and Market offered me the same updates for the same apps. Whats the problem with this?
Thx for your help
Reads as possible corruption of SD card .

And how do I do it? What folders? LOST.DIR?
Or to put to computer and run chkdsk to check lost files?

I THINK what he's suggesting is that when you have apps installed to your sd card, then an update occurs, then if there are differences in how partitioning works between your old OS version and your new OS version, you may lose some apps.

Then there's a bunch of unintelligible gibberish... Seems to be suggesting that restoring apps using Titanium backup can cause issues, and suggests formatting the external SD card on your PC instead of in your phone.

Back up your /efs folder before you do anything. (which I agree with wholeheartedly)
I think I translated that correctly.
Thanks for your translation mate although I am not sure if he said anything what can help me except deleting and formatting all which is really something what I would like to avoid for now.
LOST.DIR is empty on both internal and external SD card.
Also the problem with remnants was happening before I upgraded to ICS, do I don't think its related to partitioning at all.

Last time I had this issue, it was on my Moto Milestone where I had app2sd running, and my SD card was becoming corrupted. I had to format my SD card and re-install the affected apps.
Hmm, I am not using any external app like app2sd, just the option which is offering Android itself. You were formatting internal or external one?

I was describing my condition on one of my old phones. (An old Motorola Milestone, which did not have an internal SD) Not an I9100.
If you are using the default app2sd in Android, then you'll want to format internal. But back up all your files (music, pictures, whatever else) before you do, obviously.
I see. Yeah I was planning to do backup of course, but if I copy back all after format won't be back also the problem?
Lost dir from me was to check for corruption as thats where corrupt sd card files go.
Copy backup to PC just in case .

hey pal before trying 2 delete any app please ensure that u have cleard the data and cache of the same since they do pose a problem later also manually delete all those app folders on ur sdcard after deleting the apps

It shouldn't matter...
But my advice is to go through your installed apps and make a list of all apps that are marked as installed to your SD. Then uninstall all of the ones that are. Then back up your internal SD, and do your format of internal SD.
DO NOT copy back the .android_secure folder after you format. This is the folder that Android uses for it's built-in app2sd. (so it will get created again automatically later)
That means you'll have to re-install all of the apps you made a list of above, but it SHOULD help alleviate your problem.

The condition he describes is that the app is no longer being registered as installed. So I don't think he'll be able to do this.
Thanks mate, I am now making backup of internal SD card before formatting although there is no .android_secure folder. There is one on external SD card, but its empty. Anyway will try the format after all the data are copied.
So backup done, formatted card, copied all back, restarted phone and the remnants are still there

Hmm.. you may not have a choice but to do a factory reset/full wipe to get rid of 'em. Sorry dude.
Thats not what I wanted to hear. Should I go for factory reset available directly from Android or should I boot to recovery and go with factory reset/wipe data or wipe cache?

Either one should be fine.
FYI, you can back up most stuff you have and restore using various methods, so you can get back to your current state... it will just take a bit of effort.
And which would you recommend? I have Titanium Backup Pro to use or is there easier way?

Lost internal Memory Photos - Help!

Hey, I've lost all photos from my S3, when i was installing the JellyBean leak. There isn't any way to mount internal SD card? because all the apps that i downloaded to mount it, don't work. When I try to use a program to recover the photos (like recuva), don't recognize any disk. There is anything I can do? Like resign to recover anything ?
Try via Android Commander and locate your DCIM folder .
But you may have wiped it .
Photos will be in your Nandroid backup .

Hi!
I am facing the same problem here, but i have a nandroid backup...!
Can i retrieve photos from that??
No, Nandroid only backps the system, not the storage locations.
Sorry to hear you lost your data, but you most probably have no chance of getting them back.
I'd recommend using a sync tool to keep the important data (Call logs, SMS's, photos, ...) all stored on the cloud (usually Google servers) so even in worst-case scenarios you still have at least access to those.

Nandroid does not backup internal sdcard.. So most probably your photos are lost.. In future use drop box to sync your photos automatically.. You can never be too sure..
Also, use cwm rather than odin to flash firmwares..

This is impossible. The Factory reset only deletes your installed Apps and data BUT no personal data that is stored on the internal sd card. Did you flash a ROM after this? If yes, was it CyanogenMod 10.1 or AOKP?

I used the Samsung Galaxy S3 ToolKit v7 to download and flash stock ROM since I wanted to go back for a while to test battery life, after it had flashed the stock ROM I checked and all the files was still there but TouchWiz and something else kept crashing so I went to 'Settings -> Back up and reset -> Factory data reset'. After this all files on internal sd are gone. I thought that it didn't delete them or I would have made a backup.
All I'm really bothered about is my Titanium backup files

Anyone have any ideas how to get apps to sd card tried deleting some apps due to insufficient space (can't even update a app) deleted 3 apps and still can't download Folder Mount as suggested. Also, do you already have Titanium Backup installed? If so, just back up a bunch of apps to your SD card, delete the installs, and then restore from the backups after you've got Folder Mount running and your storage cleared up.

I haven't pulled the battery oddly enough..(you would think that I would have done that first)... I will try that when I get home as it is in a otterbox case and I am at work and it's a pain to get out. As far as ME7 Builds go last I heard once you flash to a ME7 build you would be stock on ME7. Which I am not trying to do. I am happy with touchwhiz at the moment. Not really into the plain dark look as it is just that to plain for me. Which Rom where you suggesting that you can revert back to a MDK build with? I have a nandroid already. But I tried deleting apps to see if if would let me download it and all it does is delete that app and I can't put the app i just took off back on. With all the storage available. Just kind of baffled that no one has really ran into this. I have TWRP on it now. I might switch it to 4EXT Recovery as it just has way more options.
1. Deleted apps no difference
2. Deleted Cache no difference (TWRP style wipe)
3. When I get off going to try and wipe Delv/Cach (see if that does anything)
4. If all else fails I will do a complete wipe and start with that app.(Even though you can just change the file destination in root explorer to go to sd card. There is also 2 places it stores on your phone you have a internal sd and a emulated storage. I believe this is wear the hang up is being caused.
Just seems strange that you are getting any type of error with the amount of internal storage you have available. When you get an app from tue store itsaves to your phones internal storage, which is not even close to being full. Also if you are rooted you can go back and forth between MDK and ME7 builds. Devs dont really mess with bootloaders when making roms...

I'm on lollipop with klte root. Man I messed up. I transfered all the contents from my sd over to my pc to format it and when I switched everything back over the folders came up as all empty. And I can't seem to recreate a folder called .android_secure. My storage info shows that about 9gigs of space are being used on the sd but the folders show nothing. 6gigs were of pure spotify offline music. This is not a good day. Tons of pics were there too.

I have done the same. In MM was concerned that my SD data would be gone. Made the transfer to the PC of everything. After seeing what MM did to my SD, I formatted the SD again and transferred from the PC to the SD and all was fine. If you want that info back and it is still on the PC, then just do the same. In my case after the format, all was as before.
I lost everything on the card. Dammit. I want to just do a complete hard reset of my phone. If I do a backup with kies will I be able to add all my apps and settings back on my phone afterwards with a recovery of the backup?

I recommend using Kies and Another Backup Solution as I've had problems with Kies backups in the past, causing me to lose saved texts, contacts, memos, settings, etc.
I personally recommend using Helium backup from ClockworkMod, a quick search through google play should get it for ya.
Happy resetting! :3
EDIT: Just realized this thread is old... you've probably already reset the phone. Sorry I didn't pay attention to the date stamp..
It's almost scary that you would have responded to this thread right now. I am going through the exact same mess again. I tried applying a fix to make the external card detectable by other apps which were not detecting it. Well after doing that none of my apps or data on the card show up or work. The files are there if I explore root folder though. How do I regain the pathway to the card? Through my USB on pc it does not show the external but it does if I use sd card reader with the sd card by itself. Last time I copied everything from the card to my pc then formatted. It all became a senseless mess when I tried returning everything to the card. Lost everything. I tried backing up with kies before but it did not give option to backup sd card. Please help is an understatement. I just checked the sd card for errors using Windows tools but no errors popped up.

It's almost scary that you would have responded to this thread right now. I am going through the exact same mess again. I tried applying a fix to make the external card detectable by other apps which were not detecting it. Well after doing that none of my apps or data on the card show up or work. The reason for this occurrence (as well as how to fix it) depend on how the fix was applied.
Please describe the nature of the fix as specifically as you can. Things like where you found it, what it does, how you installed it, as well as if this is the same SD card, will help the most.
Edit: if you could also include the file system that's on the card that would be great too.
Thank you for responding. I'm not sure what the file system on the card would be but I've attached a screenshot of what I did. The name of the app is there.

Well I found the app in question in the play store, and was unable to track down exactly what it does, so we can't get anything out of that.
To get the file system that's on the card all you have to do is put it in a Windows PC and look at the drive properties.
At this point the best thing to do would be to back up everything on the card to a computer.
