Seems that Pie has some added some security features in download mode to prevent dumps. Whats odd is that you can still Frankenstein to it.

Restore to Completely Stock?

Can anyone help me with restoring my Optimus G to completely stock? I want to be able to accept ota updates. I'm assuming I'll need to re flash the stock recovery for sure, but is there a way I can flash a large package like you can on Odin with Samsung phones? Thanks!

Read the instructions he is talking about and get on irc and get a hold of Lgnpst. It works in the same manner of odin just a little different. You can get stock firmware in the dev section. Follow all instructions so you don't end up with a brick.

I re-rooted with io root after update.
I did not see any OTA update for my phone? Can you do System update (did not work) or have to wait for OTA?

Glad to hear it worked smoothly for you! I'm about to do the same.
EDIT: Smoothly re-Rooted
I can also confirm IO Root worked like a charm after this update.
So best thing to do is return to stock the re-root??
I was stock rooted. Took the update. Re rooted. That's all.

Just letting you all know that one of the changes it makes is to enable lte bands 26 and 41
another is it removed twrp as my recovery and replaced it with the stock recovery.

Guys...it takes like a minute to reroot using iorootv11. Just do it after the OTA update. There is no point of trying to use apps to try to preserve root when it is so simple.
Any chance we'll see a TWRP flashable version of stock ZV8? I'd use the LG tool to start over, update to ZV8, root, etc., but then I'd have to apply all the xposed mods, set things how they were etc. I tried flashing stock recovery, then doing the update the normal way, but it led to a bootloop and didn't work.
Edit - Or can someone tell me how they flashed stock recovery, where I can get the recovery, and whether or not it worked? I got my stock recovery zip from a Sprint user in the the TWRP thread, but could only flash it via flashify. Flashing the zip via TWRP would not work.

Why can't we fix the fingerprint problem?

I'm sure if we asked a dev to look into the update from the att variant they would be able to see what the att update did to fix the fingerprint issue right?T-Mobile should have this damn update by now

Nope. SuperSU does the job. I've never done it, but read it somewhere. Don't try it or you will get either a bootloop or brick your phone.

I mean you should use the SuperSu to unroot, then update with fastboot.
Check this: https://www.youtube.com/shared?ci=b86-OvFeAec
It's a simple way to unroot (I guess)... Like I said before, never done it.

A easier way would be with Nexus Root Toolkit. It's an all in one tool.
Enviado de meu Pixel XL usando Tapatalk
Just download the developer preview #2 and use flashfire to install. That's what I did. Really, really easy.
Sent from my Pixel XL using XDA-Developers mobile app
Chainfire himself doesn't recommend flashing bootloader and radio using FlashFire.
The safest way to install those is using fastboot from a PC.
If you want to just unroot, and you are systemless, you just need to flash the boot.img.

Please do not advise someone who is not familiar with how to flash images / return to stock to use a toolkit, ever. Unless you're willing to walk them back to stock step by step in their "Help, my phone is dead!!!" thread in Q&A...

Download the developer preview #2 then use flashfire and use the flash firmware and then it will give you a few choices on what you want to keep (recovery, data, other stuff) them hit the flash button. If you look on YouTube there's a few great tutorials from maow droid and gadget hacks that I learned from. Hope I have helped.

Just wanted to say was able to use FlashFire to apply final 7.1.1 on developer preview. Just selected boot, system and vendor. Preserve recovery and inject root. No problems whatsoever!

Yes, that's the quickest method from a fully stock DP2 with twrp and root and is safe.

This doesn't update the modem. Seems potentially problematic not to flash it too as a general practice...? (Which I think you're only supposed to do with fastboot?)

From DP to 7.1.1 the modem hasn't changed.
Otherwise yes, it should have been updated through fastboot.

FWIW -- the modem included with 7.1.1 is 03.78. The modem that was on my 6P originally was 03.72 (but I was two security updates behind at this point, counting the one in 7.1.1). Who knows what changed between the two. Maybe something significant, or maybe not. But as a matter of practice it's probably just easier to take the time to update the modem with fastboot after a FlashFire OTA update finishes, rather than taking the time to research whether anything significant changed in the modem. Even with this extra nuance though, using FlashFire is still an improvement over manually flashing each partition and then re-rooting.

[QUESTION][HELP] LG V10 901h20j to 20l

I'm on the LG V10 901h20j. It's rooted with SuperSU and the bootloader is already unlocked. I want to update to 20l without losing root.
Any info on how to do this would be much appreciated. Even if it's as small as a link. Anything would be helpful. I've come across a 2 options but would like to get some feedback before I go any further.
Thanks for any replies in advance.

Flash this in twrp, it does contain root.
It comes from this thread

I have been running this for many months now with no problems.

Do I have to flash the v20 p1 then p2?
I was reading that thread and it says p1 and p2 must match or I'll hard brick. I'm thinking cause I'm coming from 20j.
Thanks for your replies.

OK. Thank you. Have you tried the debloated one? Also what is the sd card fix?
Sent from my LG-H901 using Tapatalk
I don't use other people's debloated since I use apps that they don't. (I remove/ hide the ones I don't use myself, for a better systemless root) I'm not sure what the sd "hack" does, that thread talked about it months ago when that build was made so a search in that thread should find the info for you.
