Hello XDA Team,
Hope this is the correct forum, if not please just let me know.
2 days ago I accidentally drop my almost brand new LG V30, is had a protective case but does not protect, the screen is totally broken as well as the back panel, my phone was fully working and after the drop of course does not longer turn un and is recognized on my PC as Qualcom Qloader 9008 or something like that, did I just miss my device or I still have a chance to recover it, I have no screen so Im not sure if the phone works, as far as I can test there is NO download mode.
To be honest I already realize I lost it but just wondering if there any chance to fix it.
I open it (way easy when back is broken) and try to disconnect the battery and connect it again with no luck.
Qld 9008 can be JTAG with any kdz image using Octoplus box and LG v30 firehose file. There are 2 Ebay sellers offering this service remotely for $30-35. Qld 9008 will have black, dead screen so it may return to life after fix--albeit shattered glass

Hi XDA Community,
slight problem with my S3:
(16GB EU edition, Android 4.02, rooted, superSU)
Phone was laying on table, half-way charged, when the info LED fired like a new msg arrived, but when I wanted to unlock my device I realized it just bricked completely for no obvious reason.
Screen is black, device seems off. Now there is no reaction to any button presses, USB cable, another battery and longtime charging do not bring any results either.
Now I wonder what type of brick this, if it is know and what a possible workaround / way to diagnose exact error is available?
Can send the phone in for expensive repairs but I could do it myself (no warranty anyways) if I knew what parts to replace
Thanks!
mx2k
A Jtag cable might unbrick it, or might not. No way to diagnose a dead phone.
If Jtag doesn't work then you have no chance of fixing anything yourself, unless you are confident in replacing the whole motherboard.
If I were going to spend that kind of money I'd pay a few more £ and have an expert do it for me and enjoy the warranty afterward.
edit - just noticed the Android 4.0.2 comment , if you've been running on ICS for a long period then don't bother with a Jtag, the motherboard is certainly toast.
Hi all.
I recently came across that my Z2 isn't detected by PC so I was thinking of it might be due to drivers so I re-installed everything.
But still it didn't solve the problem so I flashed my phone after that it got stuck at Sony logo screen and I couldn't get into recovery neither anywhere.
Whenever I connect the phone via flashmode it quickly shows the green colour notification and it goes away.
So all in all I went to a phone shop to repair it cause I purchased it in China and now I am not in China so I can't get my warranty, so I handed over the phone to them and they told me that the water resistance of the phone will be gone once they open it and check what part is internally damaged. But I saw lots of YouTube videos where they open it and stick the adhesive sticker. Then I asked them that they apply that sticker they said yes but Do you guys think after taking the back panel off is it possible to get water resistance back? :crying:
As what i read in this forum said Every Sony Devices come with international warranty, please contact Sony US to check if this is true, and have you tried to connect your phone to another PC? CMIIW
Guess I'm too late and I am in Sri Lanka so I doubt that here they'll have international warranty:crying:
Anyways thanks a lot for responding fast.
Sorry for the bad news, but I doubt about water proofing anymore, but to be honest I never even trusted it in the first place

So I have come to the conclusion that my phone is totally dead. No lights or any response from pushing or holding any combination of buttons, and the charge indicator doesn't come on. No USB activity either. It just died one day while streaming music.
I have picked up a ZTE Zinger as a stand-in, so not in any rush.
Now what do I do with the One? Looking at repair costs, it seems I could just replace it with a very nice used one for even money.
I wouldn't mind selling on Ebay for repair purposes, but I'm not going to do that without being able to wipe it.
Suggestions?

No warranty of any sort. It just sits on a shelf looking pretty, as in totally mint looking, never dropped. :/
Going to just hang onto it for now in case my son is in need of any pieces if something happens to his M7.
The up side is that for about twice what repairs would have cost, T-Mobile had a perfect condition M8 refurb to sell. It really does take what is great about the M7 and kick it up a notch, plus the SD card slot.
The Zinger is destined to become an IP security webcam.
I'm in the same boat. I assume there's no way to wipe it in this condition?
In that case can't even sell it for parts, though from what I've read you don't want to open it anyway because it's too difficult to do w/o damaging it.

Hi all this is my first post,
I have owned an LG G5 September and it has been flawless. A couple of days ago while plugging my G5 out of the charger, the tap to change usb connection persisted and from doing research on the forums it seems like this can occur at random without much being able to be done to fix it. Since then I have experienced extremely high battery usage from android system and I have noticed that when going into the lock screen of the phone, I am given the prompt to scan my finger with a red exclamation mark, as if i have already tried and failed to scan my finger. However the fingerprint scanner does work regardless, what i have noticed is that when scanning a new finger in settings, the phone vibrates very rapidly somehow fully registering a fingerprint in less than a second rather than vibrating and telling you to change positions of the finger. Also the fast charging capability has stoped working as a result of my phone thinking its plugged into the computer.
To sum it up, is it really possible that a single unplugging of the cable can cause the above problems? Also do any of you think that replacing the bottom port and hence the usb port (the root of the issue?) will fully resolve all problems?
I have already:
Reset the phone to factory settings
Restored from backups
Put it in rice to remove any moisture
Please ask me if any other information is required to come to a possible solution.
Cheers
Sounds like either got wet somehow or battery defect. My battery got wet and was having same issues. Did you get it wet? Don't use it untill problem fixed. Water + electronic= rip

hi man same problem here. usb notice randomly appears even if it isn't plugged and also fast charging doesn't work. I've used compressed air to clean usb port and seems that the notice doesn't appear anymore, but the fast charging still not work

Either got damaged or water damage. Probably get a new battery will fix that. I'd be a little is hesitant using the phone if it is water damage, if I was you. Might wanna take battery out untill you get new one.

Well i ordered a new battery, should be here on Monday. I'll report the results.
Well I got the new battery, unfortunately this hasnt resolved any issues. Next step is to try a new bottom piece, that should do the trick if not rip G5 and money.

Why not ship it to LG?

It has sth with usb socket in your phone. Look if there is some dust or anything. Clean it carefully with needle or sth while phone is power off. Battery drain is because phone thinks it is USB cable connected, when USB is connected phone can't enter into deepsleep state. If anything help try to replace this part which holds battery and have USB socket. I think it is still cheaper than sending phone to service.
Sound Problems
I have random sound problems since i have updated my LG G5 (H850) to Nougat.
Specifically some times the notification sounds not working. (fb messenger - sms - ringtone) Its like i have muted the sounds but all the sounds are enabled.
Also i have noticed that when this problem occuring when i try to watch videos from youtube or video streaming sites, its shows me an error message and i cant watch the videos.
When i restart the phone it fixes. It think its a software problem because i have not those problems at the past running marshmallon.
At the moment i am running official h850 20c update. I have tried factory reset but the problem insists on.
Have you ever noticed something like that or heard anything about those problems? (i have also a friend that he has the same problems with his LG G5 since he updated to Nougat)

Basically the story goes as this: I bought it from one of the biggest electronics retailers here in the Netherlands (Mediamarkt) and I asked them if they can carry out reparations and they said it needs to go to LG. So I attempt to sign up my G5 for the reparation programme LG has, only to be told at the end of the form that the G5 is not being serviced here anymore. I call LG's customer service and I was given the reason "due to extremely low sales the product is not supported anymore in the region", LG also told me that Mediamarkt has to carry out reparations because there is a mutual agreement between the two even though Mediamarkt claims they are unable to carry out repairs and no such agreement exists. So as a consumer I am stuck between these two big companies and the standard 2 year guarantee is basically useless, which is why I am hoping a new bottom port will bring everything back to what it was.

Yep I agree completely that it most likely has to do with the bottom port, I also believe a new bottom port will fix most if not all issues. I dont have many options anyway I need to diagnose the phone myself otherwise I've lost my money and device.

Aka you've been screwed over. That situation right there would make me not wanna ever deal with either company ever again. You should try to talk to someone at LG higher up, like manager or something.
LG tried screwing my brother over with a promotion. Well after talking to manager he got things fixed.

Go back to media markt and be a pain in the arse.
If you ask customer service nicely they more often will feed you with standard replies. Tantrums tend to help, sadly.
Double check how things are legally. Quoting the law also helps and or asking for a supervisor.
Good luck
Hello dear community. I have LG V10 since July and since the first days rooted and installed MM (the official version). The phone had xposed as well along with some xposed apps. It was working normaly and beside some slight battery draid issues and some lag in interface it was working perfectly and very stable. Tonight thought, i was out in a local bar with friends and suddenly i noticed the phone rebooted on its own. Then i noticed that it was not getting into the OS and it was stuck between
"Your Device Software can't be checked for corruption" with some flashes of LG Logo, and then back to first. After several minutes on this screen i decided to pull the battery of in order to do a proper reboot, only to find out that it was simply stuck in this bootloop. At one point the T-Mobile logo appeared in the white background, but that was only once. Good thing is that i can access the Download mode. Could not go into recovery thought. I Can't find how to get there with this phone anyway.
I'd try sending to LG repair if it's still in 2 year warranty.
I had bought a bootlooped V10 on eBay for about 50 bucks over the Summer. I wanted it to replace my shattered screen on my working V10.
I did the screen swap and all is fine with my working V10.
On a whim last week, because the bootlooped V10 was going to expire at end of October I sent it to LG with my shattered display. Plus this phone had been completely disassembled by me in order to do the screen swap. I figured they'd pick up on the fact that I had taken it apart and with the full broken display.
But I got a note back from LG saying repair in progress and they classified it as a phone that would not power on. That is what they say when they fix the bootloop.
I don't think they will repair the shattered display for free, but don't care about that. At least I'll get back a phone that I will use as a dedicated media player. I mean the DAC in this thing is too good, to let the phone just there unused.
I guess my long-winded point to anyone sitting on a bootlooped V10..send it for repair before your 2 years is up. They will most likely replace the main board and it get working. If nothing else, sell it on eBay for a small profit when it comes back.

I believe i've lost any warranty since i rooted the phone.Isn't that the case? They won't find the unlocked bootloader and the custom recovery? Besides, I am not sure if its a hardware issue. I tend to believe that its a software issue.
I assume you had twrp installed? You need to turn off the phone. Hold power and volume down buttons together untill you see lg logo. When you see lg logo, release power button, but keep holding volume down button. Than quickly while holding volume down button, press power button once. Hold volume down button untill you get to recovery.
Thanks i managed to get into TWRP. I did a cache, dalvik reset but the phone is still in boot loop. I Start to think that might be a hardware issue now. As far as i know though the hardware issue was due to hight temperature. In my case the phone was chill, not a hint of being hot.
EDIT: I tried to boot into TWRP once again, but then TWRP froze while in root menu. Since then i could not boot into TWRP either. Sometimes i get the TWRP loading screen but then back to "Your device software can't be checkec for corruption" pops, and thats the end of it.
I was in same boat with my H90120l, went in to boot loop after a month after purchase from Ebay, the boot lop started after an unusual overheat event, it was overheated for up to 2 hours before the loop started. The warranty is about 2 months outside a year, I tried to LGUP h90120l_00_1004.kdz firmware which didn't work, that only resulted in it being stuck at LG logon screen. So I made the choice to send it to LG even if it is outside the warranty period, after entering the phone's details the LG Support site (lgmobilerepair) created a shipping label, so I chanced it and sent the paper weight to LG in hopes they may fix this piece of junk since the issue I describe is related directly to this overheat issue & because they have pending class action regarding overheating LG models which include the lovely V10, Good luck!
