So I have this Verizon unlocked SM-G965U and decided to flash it with firmware SM-G965U1, after setting up the fingerprint lock, it will shut off a few seconds after the screen goes off. If I remove the option to unlock the phone with the fingerprint it will not shut off. It started happening after I flashed it, and it did not happen before today.
I already tried flashing a second firmware, right now it’s currently on build PPR1.180610.011.G965U1UE6CSI1
I decided to update and change the firmware to SM-G965U1 because the one I got from Verizon wasn’t giving me updates at all (it was stuck on security updates from April 2019). I’m not in the US so I decided to go for the unlocked firmware model to get updates.
I found people who have had this in the past but no one seems to give a definitive fix. I don’t think this is a hardware issue.
Has anyone found this issue before and fixed it?
Should I try flashing another firmware coming back to the original model (SM-G965U)? (Is there any risk if I flash the firmware with carrier?)
Thank you!
So pretty much two days later and I have come to the conclusion that the issue with the phone is hardware related. I've don research online and several report they had the same problem after getting it wet, while others never got it wet, so that's why I had hopes mine was not a hardware issue. Granted I DID get the phone wet but the symptom described on the first post started after the second day i got it wet and right after I flashed my unit.
Just for the record, I flashed the phone back and forth from SM-G965U to SM-G965U1 (that's when I got the shutting down issue when fingerprint lock is enabled), reverted it to SM-G965U (tried at least two different firmwares), and finally settled in SM-G965U1 (I mean, why not?). I did try firmware with security patch prior to September 1st 2019 (since a user suggested that's when he got the issue on his phone).
Firmwares used to test:
SM-G965U1_1_20190816080114_wltpjfnoy9_fac
SM-G965U_1_20190910091240_jebmc6r22k_fac
VZW-G965USQS6CSH3-20190822152617
Now I see why nobody dared to reply to my post... I think I covered all the bases here, otherwise please let me know.

Nah... I never had those gestures activated to begin with. Besides, I performed a hard reset and even flashed different firmwares with no luck. Only option now is to replace the fingerprint sensor.
You're not the only one with this problem. The solution is to turn off fingerprint unlocked.

I hate to bump a old thready but I just got the s9 new to replace my s7. Upon setting up the phone with my finger print I am experiencing the same exact problem... Has this not been solved? Also turning off finger print log in seems like it's not addressing the issue. I've never had this problem with my s7 and feel like this isn't going to be good if a new s9 is already experiencing this problem...
Thanks,

Hi all, I have recently bought an international Galaxy S6 EDGE. My fingerprint scanner was working fine until yesterday. My friend somehow managed to get INTO my phone with fingerprint locked. He was able to unlock it. I was shocked. He got into it twice. Sometimes it allows him to get inside, sometimes it doesn't. Today, I managed to unlock my phone, using fingers I have never registered before. I wiped my home button several times with wet tissue etc. Still same.
Light taps on the home button unlocks my phone. But if I hold my unregistered fingers there, it will show no match.
I am seriously confused. I hope somebody can shed some light on this issue!
Thank you.

Weird indeed, this never happens to me, though directly after turning on my device, i received an update, that said something about Fingerprint sensor, I don't know whether it was an issue that got fixed by the update. Maybe you should search for that update if you don't have it installed already

Latest updates already installed. No idea what is happening.. I already tried switching locks then back to fingerprint. Same thing.

Did you try deleting all fingerprints and assigning new ones? If that doesn't help I think your last resort would be a factory reset
Spoke to Samsung today. They say it's a known issue and the device needs to be reflashed or if it's less than 28 days old your entitled to a new phone.
Hi guys , just looking for someone to shed some light on the problem i am having with my Galaxy S6 EDGE. The phone is around 2 months old now and it was bought from a CEX store whilst trading my iPhone 6 in...The phone has been fine up until now where i will constantly be getting the error described in the title and have to enter my password to log in. Restarting it fixes it for a minute or so then it begins again . Now is this a hardware issue as i am literally ready to go back and ask for a full refund on the phone and switch back to my iPhone. Anybody experienced similar issue with theirs?
Thanks
Try re-flashing it it with Odin or recovery with Smart Switch.
Thanks although after reading several topics on the matter on here and elsewhere it does state that it is indeed a hardware issue. will be paying CEX a visit tomorrow. plus i shouldn't have to do that on a brand new phone.
Cex will want to exchange it. They don't sell new phones so this will be a loss. Tbh I'd take an exchange unless something else is putting you off the edge.

I have just flashed v3 of this rom but I keep on getting the message; an error has occurred with the fingerprint reader
My fingerprint scanner wasn't working after I flashed a custom rom (Echoe Rom). I did a full wipe of everyting but still nothing.
Then I realised that I upgradeded from Android 5.0.2 to 5.1.1 without upgrading the bootloader (and baseband).Flashed them and all ok now. Not sure if related to yours, just my issues with the scanner
Hello everyone!
I have bought an LG V10 (International Version) and I am having some problems with fingerprint scanner lately
Once in two weeks or so, when I unlock the phone with the fingerprint scanner, it reboots. I didn't know why this started happening. I don't have a case, so it is not related with that.
I found out that if I delete one of my fingerprints and I add it back, it stops rebooting. So that is what I have done for more than the last month I guess. Whenever it started, I just deleted my second fingerprint and added it back.
Now the problem is different. It rebooted once more. I deleted my second fingerprint and after that, I tried adding it back. I put my finger repeatedly on the fingerprint scanner and it gets stuck once, in 60%, once in 80%. It gets stuck and my finger doesn't register. You can see it in this picture I uploaded to pasteboard.co.
I am very worried because here where I live, we don't have a specialized LG store and if I take it back where I bought it, they will say that I broke it or they could try to fix and make things worse.
Has anybody else had this problem? Can you please help me out?
I remember this problem starting after my last update. You can see here my software information.
Thank you very much!

Hi,
I bought a new S9+, finished initial setup and app / system updates and everything. 10 min later, my phone cant unlock easily or lags while unlocking, there is no adaptive brightness anymore, no screen rotation happening. After couple of hours trying to figure out what is wrong I finally hit upon the *#0*# sensor test method.
Here's what I found. Upon restart when I check sensors, they are all working fine. I have none of the issues mentioned above. When I leave the phone for a while and then run the sensor test again, I see all sensors have stopped. All the issues I mentioned above are back too.
Have any of you heard of this issue with the S9+. I will send it out for warranty if it is hardware, but I'd like to try any solutions on the phone that do not involve rooting it or voiding the warranty.
Thanks
Gun
I haven't heard anything like this, but I would suggest make sure it's updated and if needs be do a factory data reset.
If that doesn't help just send it in for warranty service.
It is completely updated and multiple factory data resets were done. Looks like this is a new issue then. I'll send it back.

Hi guys.
I'm quite new here so forgive me if I put the post in the wrong place.
Let me try to describe my issues with my phone.
A couple months ago I got a new LG V60 from my wife (brand new but without warranty).
The first problem I noticed after a few days was that the fingerprint scanner wasn't working properly. I mean everyone can unlock my phone after a few tries placing finger on the scanner at an angle.
When I try to unlock the phone by fingerprint it takes ages (it's very difficult to unlock the phone for the first time). I was trying remove saved fingerprint and create a new one but the problems is still there.
Another problem is with losing signal from satellites when using navigation. I was trying Google maps, Sygic and TomTom and it's look like the Google works best but there is still problem with signal, quite often I get information about 'searching position'.
Next one is that the phone is freeze sometimes and I have to restart it to work properly. It's happening around once a week.
I was trying hard reset but it didn't fix it, then I downloaded the original firmware with android 10. I don't know if it helped because I got lots of updates and it ended up on the Android 12 again. At the beginning of use after this operation the phone was working better but after a couple of weeks the same problems came back.
I'd like to add if I want to do a back up I get information like this "the required google certificate has been deleted". On Android 10 this information wasn't appearing.
Do you have guys any idea what's wrong with this phone?
Thank you in advance.

I also have the v600TM on Android 10. I have had no problems with the fingerprint except after the first time I unlocked the bootloader (see 1st post for the fix). I did not allow an update to Android 11 or 12. Maybe you should try the fingerprint on A10 for awhile before moving to 12.
Hopefully you don't have one of those Chinese refurbs pretending to be new!

Hi
Thank you for the reply.
Maybe you right and I should try to use the phone on android 10 and see if it's works properly. I'll see what happens.
Do you know when android 13 will be available for V60?
As a owner of the V30, V40 I'm really disappointed of the V60 now.

Hi,
You're welcome. When you are new to a forum or group, its like you are invisible.
My current main phone is the V30. The V60 has been more difficult than past phones to configure the way I want. When I installed TWRP a few months ago it was a DISASTER! Installing MicroG (to replace google play services) has also not worked out well. I have limited funds and I am beginning to wonder if the V60 was a good choice.
There is already an Android 13 beta for some versions of the V60.
The thing with V60 is that it is newer than V30. So a lot of fixes are not fully cooked. With LG gone from the scene, there is no incentive for developers to pursue it with any dedication. I don't know if TWRP will be fully built for this phone.

I do remember how slow the V30 was in the beginning. Now the V30 has a bunch of ROMs and an OFFICIAL LineageOS! I hope the V60 goes the same way. I doubt it, though.

I forgot to mention that I posted a possibly newer (than 3.6.0-11) version of TWRP for the V60:

Hi guys
It's me again with another problem
As for the above problems that I wrote about, I decided not to do anything about it for now and patiently wait for the android 13 update and see what happens.
How happy I was when two days ago I received the opportunity to download the update.
The joy did not last long, as it turned out that I'm unable to download the update.
Previously, I got information like 'The phone is being use and update will be downloaded later' (or something similar). Now the update downloads for a while and pops up 'Installation problem' and cannot be downloaded (always in the same time). I restarted the phone, deleted apps, changed from WiFi to mobile data and still the same.
Do you have guys any ideas what can I do with it?
As far as I know the phone is from US (T-mobile) and I live in the UK.
Thank you in advance for your help

How to check if the bootloader is unlocked?
As I said before I haven't done anything yet with the phone as I was waiting for the update but I'd like to check it, maybe the bootloader was already unlocked

When the phone is starting up (after being off or rebooting) it will say something like: This phone cannot be checked for corruption. Lock the bootloader.
If the bootloader is locked I suggest you backup before doing a factory reset.
