Way to restore audio system files? - LG V30 Questions & Answers

I was on oreo, rooted, with JohnFawkes twrp image. I put the Anxious mod in, worked great. Then deleted it, reinstalled the twrp image and gave it to my fiance.
Somewhere along the line the audio for messed up. The sound fades in and out during a song. Like some weird surround effect. The bass is definitely gone way done. I played around with viper, Dolby, the dts and surround settings, no dice. Even installed the new pie twrp rom.
I'm thinking that I need to install stock audio files? Any suggestions.? Thx.

Try a factory reset and install pie over it.

[FIX] DSPManager v1.0 (ICS 4.0.3/SENSE 3.6+4.0)

There's been talk in a lot of different device forums about DSPManager having no function or constantly force closing. The discussion here will be for sense 3.6/4.0 and ICS 4.0.3
I started a thread HERE on how to get DSPManagers' various functions to work properly but my previous method did not work for sense 3.6 or sense 4.0. Any development or ideas are more than welcome in this thread. I have made progress to a certain point but my inexperience makes it hard for me to pinpoint the cause of certain issues such as the app force closing.
Update 5/6/12
-No app force close selecting any enhancement
-All enhancements function properly
-Only got DSP v1.0 working(not V2)...for now
WARNING - This process will disable all other HTC audio effects (beats, srs, etc.) Other market app equalizers and sound enhancement software also may conflict with DSP so keep that in mind.
Awesome work. Can't wait to install and test.
Tested on MeanROM ICS 0.9. Caused the Music app to not be able to play music (said that the files were not supported). Had to dirty flash ROM to fix.

I had that issue some time ago...for me it was a temporary problem with the music app, when I tracked ahead or went to Library>Song it played my music after that. I don't think that issue is directly related to the files flashed in this .zip

With me, every song I selected did not work. I went into my library and selected different songs and kept getting the file type not supported error (which I normally do not get and did not get after reflashing the ROM).
According to MikeyXDA, global Beats breaks DSP Manager, Volume +, etc.

Also, the other guy above (mozman) seems to be having the same issue I did:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26180927&postcount=1656
Hope that helps your quest to fix DSP Manager. When I get a chance, I'll try to reflash the DSP Manager zip and do as you suggest.
I'm running cleanrom which doesn't have beats. I warned of other eq's hampering dsp's ability to function properly. I've seen beats work along side dsp but I would attempt to disable any beats audio stuff first then try dsp.

I don't know how to disable Beats (Mikey has not put out a way to disable Beats in his ROM). Thanks for the suggestion about CleanROM. I'm also thinking of trying ViperROM for the same reason. I can use DSP to make a better sound than Beats.

I'm running meanrom. I decided to switch over to it for the dual core tweaks. My zip worked great I listened to my car stereo tonight all the way home bumping. Try a clean install of meanrom then flash the zip and I doubt the same issue will happen.

I've confirmed what you have said about beats and dsp. You must've been talking about using headphones which indeed will cause that error of not playing a file. I use Bluetooth devices so I'm fortunate to not have that issue. Try going into Apps>All and disable Music Enhancer. See if that works.
EDIT - nevermind I didn't have my headphones powered on everything worked fine, you should just try to reflash the Rom then the zip.

I know I'm the only one replying, but I really want DSP to work with Beats like it does on GB. So, I installed MeanROM 1.0 then flashed the zip. Using headphones, press play on song and get the unsupported file error. Select HTC Enhancer, song plays, then select Beats and the song plays, but DSP changes do not make any change to the sound. The app loads and changes can be made, but the sound does not change tone at all. When I try to play the next song, I get the unsupported file type error again and have to go through the above steps.

Your wish is granted my friend. Aamikam released v1.0 of MikVirgin. He was the first dev that I know of to get beats over bluetooth. The changlog states he has working DSPv2 as well!! I'm downloading it now I suggest you try it.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1654131
Anyone know if there has been any progress on getting DSP v2 for Sense 3.6 and 4 working?
thanks.. i'm going to try it..
DSPManager2
I experimented and come up with something that works for me. I have evo 3d s-off running viper 3d, it is sense 4.1
I just keep the sound enhancer on beats audio and do my EQ adjusting with DSP manager 2
You can try it and see. Just make a backup before flash!
DSP Manger
You may have to put sound enhancer on no effect for dsp manager2 to work on some roms.
Wow.
I really appreaciate this update. I didn't want to move out from CM by this.
Now I'm running ICS on Inspire4G using Trickdroid, this is the only component that was missing to be happy again!

[Q] Noise in the background when playing music after 4.2.2 update

I have a strange problem after 4.2.2 update. When I connect headphones and start playing music or audiobook or anything else via headphones or internal speaker, I hear in the background some kind of silent but constant noise, it is there in the background, always. And its stops abut 2 second after I stop the music. I'm sure it didn't happens in 4.1.1 and started immediately after 4.2.2 update. And it really worries me, because I use this phone mostly for audiobooks... Help? anybody?
I got the same on original music application . Go get poweramp it solved the problem for me

Turning off beats audio pretty much relinquishes audio hiss, otherwise you can try flashing zeroinfinity`s audio mod which apparently also woks on 4.2.2.

So You are trying to tell me that this is normal? I'm sure everything worked fine on 4.1.1
Same issue in poweramp.
ryanjsoo, you're right, turning beats audio off helps a little... but this is ridiculous, beats audio device with hiss in the background when turned on.
I'm on stock right now, custom rom will help?

You can try using an external dac/amp such as a fiio e6, using a custom rom may help, try flashing this mod, make a backup since i cannot guarantee that it will work with 4.2.2 however i have heard of people having success, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2231742, otherwise i cannot think of anything else except backing up your apps and contacts, wiping data and flashing stock?, also, not sure if this works but using root explorer, under the directory etc, change all the 48000 ang 48 vales to 44100 and 44.1 in asound and audio_policy to remove any resampling which may destroy quality.

Thank you. I will try to do it, because right now my night sessions with audiobooks become a nightmare. Honestly, whole 4.2.2 update is a one big mistake in my opinion. They gave me hissing sounds, lock screen lags and take away some of my favorite widgets.
Can I downgrade and install viper x based on 4.1.1 via hansontool ?
EDIT: Problem solved. I've done another factory reset, this time with format data. Was getting ready to unlock BL but when I checked audio quality, there is no hissing sound, nor popping now. And general responsiveness is also improved. I don't get this, but it works now

I haven't been able to find any thing better or more comprehensive then Viper4Audio for the Max. It will install on anything.
yes viper4max is really great in headphone
but in speaker it doesn't make it loud enough
we need some body to confg the audio file in our max to make it louder like the galaxy phones in samsung
True. I was able to get my speakers sounding better with viper4audio. It looks like the link in the OP is to a mod that installs system sounds (ringtones, notifications ect) that have been re-encoded to have higher volume.
This just replaces the ringtone/notification/system sound files with ones that are modified to be louder. It won't increase the volume of music you play.

it does work, the g3 just has a great audio output that its hard to tell the difference. you will not get an increase in volume though :crying:
I am an audiophile. I own many thousands of dollars in headphone equipment as well as monitoring equipment. I have been an avid android user and developer since the HTC G1. I use viper4audio not for the speaker output but for the headphone output. The G3 uses the same Amp for the speaker as it does for the headphones. There is no change what so ever when viper4audio is enables to my sound. I use the equalizer ive checked multiple settings, i've even used different audio players to get viper4audio to work on neither the speaker or headphones. What you experiencing is a placebo effect.
I hate to ask such a basic question, but are you guys using the XPOSED framework and have you enabled the viper mod in the framework?
I can assure you this mod works with the G3 (at least the AT&T version - I'll be testing on a verizon version later today). The sound difference can be drastic depending on what mods you turn on and to what levels you set them at.
That brings up another question I guess.... Are you going into the GUI and selecting different mods? Just installing the app won't change anything as nothing is turned on be default. You have to set things up manually.....
Just moved from and S5 and this was one thing I installed first. I can't speak to the headphone jack but bluetooth audio definitely works.
Viper sounds amazing on this phone, I can tell a difference from my s4. Very happy with spotify viper combo
does anyone has a the origina file handy for a verizon LG-G3 handy? I followed the instructions in the op and saved the original file on my sdcard but I ended up buying another sdcard and forgot I had it in the old sdcard. Now I'm scared if I ever going to do a change I don't have the original file to go back to. I'm happy with this mod I just want to have it just in case, thank

I am an audiophile as well and viper has been working perfectly for me since day one of rooting my g3. I don't have force enable viper on. I also have the user audio profile installed. And FX compatibility mode is on normal. Do you have yours installed as a system app? I don't.

I am an audiophile and I always recommend Noozxoide Eizo Rewire Pro. Amazing.
I think viper is the best I notice a big difference in both quality and volume I used a decibel meter on my g2 to compare the difference and with viper I gained on the low end 6 db and on the high end 10db so that's an average of a 8 db gain with viper
I rooted almost specifically to use Viper4Android. Ive noticed that the phone speaker is actually quieter with V4A enabled(probably just settings) but headphone volume/clarity is fantastic. I also came from an HTC One M7, and i have to say, 1 watt does work on this device

I can confirm this also. V4A FX 2.3.3.0/Verizon VS985(Rooted) -
Viper always has worked for me on my G3 with and without Xposed framework installed, but always with root. My steps are below, never given me a problem.
V4A version 2.3.3.0 [in Normal (not compatibility) mode, with granted root permissions, Latest version, expert UI, played with SPOTIFY]
Installed by dragging apk from extSD to
dragged to system/apps/
permissions change to rw-r--r--
ownerships changed to root
if its not in my app drawer, i reboot, if it is I go straight to the install of the drivers (both have worked fine for me)
installed V4A driver by granting root
Super Audio Quality
Reboot
Select it as the equalizer in spotify
enjoy

Agreed.
Has anyone tried an audio boost to the headphone out volume with V4A Installed? I like to feel my head shake with bass...but am very picky about quality of sound too. I know on my GS4 any audio boost to TW 4.4.2 caused distortion even if using V4A at 50% media volume @ signal strength= moderate \ Max Gain =x4 \ Max output = -1.9db
Using Klipsch S4A buds - anyone got recommendations for earbuds that go well with V4A on the G3? interested to know thoughts, looking for new ones

[Guide] ZTE Axon 7 CM13, LOS14.1 Eliminate media audio distortion [Viper4Arise]

Guide to get rid of audio distortion on CM13 and Lineage OS 14.1
I have told quite a few people in the cm13 thread how to get rid of the audio distortion, I figured it was relevant to enough people that I should make a little guide on how to set it up although it is pretty straightforward.
[Disclaimer] I am not responsible if you manage to break your phone using this guide
What does this guide accomplish? This guide will help you install Viper4Arise which is a wonderful sound mod that I use on any phone or rom. Viper4Arise will allow you to eliminate audio distortion in media playback on your Axon 7 running CM13 or LOS14.1, by lowering the output gain which is not capped properly in these Roms
What does this guide fail to accomplish? This guide will not fix mic issues, in call volume, the left channel being missing on speakers, or any other sound related problem present in CM13 or LOS14.1, however most bugs are gone now in LOS14.1
Now that that's out of the way, lets get to the fun stuff!
Step 1
First thing you want to do is grab the Viper4Arise flashable zip
Download Viper4Arise 2.3.3
however if you want the newest version
Download Viper4Arise 2.4
once you have this you can boot into TWRP and flash it, then reboot into system
Step 1.5
This step is only necessary on the newest builds of lineage OS 14.1
lineage OS does not have root built in. we will download the root addon package from lineageOS
Download root addon
flash this in twrp, it doesnt matter if it is done before or after installing the Viper4Arise package
Step 2
SeLinux must be permissive and by default it is enforcing so we are going to grab this apk and install it
Download SeLinux Switcher
once installed, open the app, allow root access (you may need to enable root in developer options) and set SeLinux to Permissive. if Viper4Arise stops working always check to make sure Selinux is still in permissive as changing it back to enforcing will stop Viper4Arise from working.
Step 3
Next we will configure Viper4Arise to eliminate Audio distortion.
Start by going to the phone speaker and Headset tabs and Switching master power to on
Now press the menu button on the top left and press Driver status. as long as SeLinux is permissive it should say
NEON Enabled: Yes
Enabled: Yes
Status: Normal
the other things are not relevant. if the above message read "No" or "Abnormal" you may not have set SeLinux to permissive, please go back to step 2!
do this twice, once with the Headset tab Selected and once with the Phone Speaker tab selected
There are allot of awesome setting to mess with they can make you audio amazing, I encourage you to try them out. to make the audio distortion go away simply scroll to the bottom and find the "Master Gate (Limiter)" tab. Set the output gain to -10.5 dB on both the Headset and Phone Speaker. this level seems pretty good in my opinion however you may find you prefer a slightly lower or higher level.
That's it! I hope I have helped you guys out, feel free to ask questions or make suggestions on how to improve this guide and be sure to leave Thanks!

Thanks for the guide. My YouTube videos are no longer distorted and sound good enough, for not having stereo capability on LOS. However, all of my notifications that come in are still very distorted, is there a fix for this?

Glad the guide helped you! Unfortunately I don't know how to get rid of distortion when notifications come in. I do believe Unjustified Dev said that all audio distortion will be gone in the near future, of course this guide won't be important at that point. At least audio quality isn't really important for notifications...
Alrighty, no big deal. You're right, it isn't a huge problem...Just a little annoying. I may have to flash back to stock, the main reason most people bought this phone was for the speakers....And I'm starting to miss the immersive sound that I had from stock

Yeah the left and right channel bug really degrades the speaker experience... And weird sounding notifications is annoying. I listen to lots of music but always with headphones or with an aux in the car so I don't really care too much...
Hijacking this thread to ask specifically. I do not care about my speakers I literally only use Headphones.
Is media with headphones played via the AK DAC? Is the quality as good as "super" mode on the stock ROM ? (Again, asking for Media Playback with headphones!)
Question, is the audio on LOS 14.1 with speakers good enough to listen to podcasts and some music with this mod?

Of course I am not an audio expert and do not have the means to compare the quality side by side. I am not sure if the HiFi DAC is used, that is more of a general lineage os question.

Question, is the audio on LOS 14.1 with speakers good enough to listen to podcasts and some music with this mod?

The speakers are not as good as stock, the mod works perfectly but I believe only right channel is played. Its a problem that the lineage os devs have to fix. It is good for listening to pretty Mich anything, oy won't have distortion or anything
