I was basically using the tether via usb to access internet on my computer. But yesterday in the middle of udating CS go, it stopped. The file transfer option is gone too. In device manager it shows unknown usb device(device descriptor request failed). Is this issue related to october update? As it was working fine before

Hi all,
I just installed Das BAMF 2.0-5 and I have my TB connected to my laptop via USB. My laptop then proceeds to search for a corresponding driver to "Android Phone". My phone will not get recognized by my laptop because no driver is found/installed onto my laptop. Before flashing Das BAMF, my TB was working perfectly fine - rooted w/the leaked GB rom...I had no driver issues whatsoever there.
The only was I can access my SD card storage so far is by booting into Clockwork and then mounting via USB.
Please help!!! Anything is deeply appreciated.
I did the workaround supplied before which is putting it in internet passthrough mode then switching to disk drive. I still get the message telling me to download the driver for a desire HD but ti works fine on my system.

Connect your Thunderbolt via usb cable and then when the prompt comes up select "internet pass-through" then hit done and ok. Then pull notification bar down and choose "select to change usb connection type", select "disk drive" and hit done. Wait a second and you should see that you are connected to your pc. Hope this helps, it will work.

Thanks for the reply.
I tried this and it didn't work. I'm ultimately trying to get my usb tethering working again. Wireless tethering works fine, but the usb tethering that worked for me pre-Das BAMF via SwitchPro Widget didn't respond when trying to toggle the widget. I also tried Wired Tether for Root Users - the network creation goes through and my mac address is grabbed by my TB, but no internet connection... any ideas? I'd like to just have USB tethering (preferably one click w/o third party apps i.e. PDAnet) and disk drive working.

Is there a reason to use the one these apps instead of the built-in pass-through feature?
Try gingeritis it has less problems in my opinion
im having the same problem, recently went Das BAMF 3.0 RC1 and i've tried the suggestion of internet pass through and swapping back to mount drive and still nothing.
When initially rooting my phone, I just had to manually install HTC Sync drivers and then do the internet passthrough workaround and that did it for me. Have you tried that? You can find the Sync drivers pretty easily through Google.
stock rom rooted.
ok...wanted to do reverse tether (use pc internet connection on GS2)
froze tetheringmanager and used the built in android tether. Ran
su
netcfg usb0 dhcp
from terminal which the command hung (didnt return to prompt...evidently happens and I didnt go any further with trying the tether). Had to close the terminal window
Now I have a problem
On a separate PC from above I now cannot get MTP or USB debugging to let me transfer files. Ived used the android "usb utilities" and tried the connect storage to PC. It does a loop of "disconnect cable" and then "connect cable" but my PC never shows it connected. The cable is connected because my battery charges. I have successfully connected to this PC before all this.
RELP!
This is probably a common problem, I saw lots of threads but I can't find any solutions to it, and I really want to make my phone faster i.e. root
Phone: LG P990 (Optimus 2x)
Problem:
Phone not detected by the computer when connected through USB.
What I tried:
1. Factory reset (only data)
2. Cleaning the port with a toothbrush
3. Uninstalling and re-installing drivers
4. Replacing the cable I was using with the OEM one (I lost my original together with my charger)
5. Plugging into different computers and USB ports
6. Checking and unchecking the option of connecting through mass storage only
7. Enabling and disabling USB debugging
What's so incredible about my problem is that the phone actually knows that it is connected to the computer - the USB tethering option is available and it says that USB's connected - but the USB connection icon on the status bar for mass storage doesn't show up. I'm not sure if it's a software or hardware problem. So any ideas how to fix this?
Bump.
Android version: 2.3.4

Please help!
Just some updates.

My computer showed the unknown device message when I chose CP UART. I'm working on the rest of the fix now, and hopefully the problem can be solved.

any options from notification area when connected via cabel to your computer?
try searching the play store for "mass storage" and see if one of the apps will work for you
You could use a sd adaptor so you wouldnt need to connect you phone

Hello,
I recently got a moto z droid force from bestbuy for the $240 deal and I can't seem to transfer files from my 2013 rMBP to my moto z. I am using Android File Transfer (AFT) as its needed when using a Mac. I want to transfer my music over but I keep getting an error that says
"Can't Access Device Storage. If your device's screen is locked, disconnect its USB cable, unlock your screen, and then reconnect the USB cable."
The device was already unlocked and I tried reconnecting the cable many times. ATP opens up but as soon as I try to transfer anything from my mac to the motoz i get the same error message. I had a moto x before and would run into this problem often which was very annoying but I was hoping it would be solved for the moto z. I have tried enabling and disabling usb debugging, set default usb configuration to MTP, and fully UNinstalling AFT and its directories and REinstalling it to no avail. I've this up on google and nothing has worked so far. As a last resort I may be able to transfer my music to a windows pc temporarily but I would rather not rely on that as then every time I download new music I would have to transfer the data to a windows pc.
Hello! I have a (12+256) Motorola Edge+ 2020 in Pakistan. I bought it last September. Everything works great, except that it won't connect to my computer. I have tried changing the default USB connection to File Transfer but it does nothing. The normal "Connected Devices > USB preferences" window is inactive and only accessible by search which doesn't do anything as well. I have tried using Moto tools to update computer drivers and the "Device Help" to access files. The Device Help WiFi route works fine but won't connect through USB. Changed cables, tried on different computers.
