Hello,
I own a rooted Samsung Galaxy S7 running stock firmware (Oreo).
When I connect my phone to a WIFI network, it keeps shutting down mobile data.
I have checked the option to make mobile data always on using developer options and it works fine.
I have a few questions:
Is there a workaround to enable mobile data connectivity via adb (WITHOUT ticking "Mobile data always on" on developer options), even if device is connected to WIFI? (svc data enable doesn't really enable mobile data).
How can I change the metric of a network route? So that even if I am connected to WIFI, all network traffic will go through mobile data, unless I am trying to access an address which is on the WIFI LAN?
Thanks.
adb shell settings put global mobile_data_always_on 1
I don't know why you don't want to tick the option in developer options .. to use ADB, you'll have to enable developer options, and USB debugging.

I rooted my phone yesterday using MyGKernel and installed droidwall.I allowed all apps to use wifi and disallowed all of them from using 3G but android background services still use data.I got background data and autosync disabled. Also I noticed that after rooting my phone, the screen turns on by itself in random times.I'm running Android 2.3.6,please help !
go to settings - wireless and networks/mobile networks/ use packet data, data roaming. both off, to disable data via cell provider.
i dont know about the screen issue, some app waking you unit up?, you dont need droidwall if you disable packet data.

But I need the packet data to be on for a vodafone app called vodafone buzz. Its an app that lets me connect to fb/twitter/msn/yahoo/gtalk for 1 dollar a month and I don't get charged for internet data. But the problem is the android services use data for no reason even with droidwall enabled.Oh and I fixed the screen thing,it was a problem with an app.

yes its a fact of Android you have data on so they connect .
try Better Battery Stats to see if you can pin down further .

Hi, I have problem with wifi conection. I'm normally connected to wifi but I don't have internet access.
You might think that you're really connected to a wi-fi, to verify your wi-fi connectivity, do this steps.
You must turn-off first your existing wifi connection before proceeding this steps!
Using your Samsung Galaxy Mini, go to Settings > Wireless & Networks > Wi-fi Settings, turn-on your Wi-fi connectivity there.
If your SGM can scan wifi connection then it might give you several wifi networks.
Below Network Notification is Wi-fi Networks, you can see a list of available wifi networks there and you can clearly say that you are NOT really Connected if the status of each Wi-fi networks is giving you this message. "Remembered, secured with WPA/WPA2PSK or secured with Password".
To sum it up, you're SGM can scan wifi networks but it cannot successfully connect because some of wi-fi networks are secured with Password. Just ask for it's password, otherwise, find a wi-fi network which doesn't have a network password.
What if you're already connected but still, cannot access internet surfing..
Go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications.
Under Manage Applications, point to All tab and find Internet on the list and Opera (if you have) and Google Play Store (formerly known as Market) and Open each Applications.
for example: Open Google Play Store then click Clear Data and Clear Cache then repeat this steps to other applications which I mentioned above.
Hope it helps

I have to connect a local area wifi all the time. This wifi cannot connct to internet. I want to use cellular data to access internet. But I cannot use cellular data when on wifi. Is there any method to deal with it or it's dead end?
Wich android version do you have? Since lollypop the system automatically uses cellular data if wifi has no internet access.
You can try to enable "Aggressive Wi-Fi to Celluar handover" in Developer options.

android version is 5.1.1, I can't find "Aggressive Wifi to Celluar handover" or any related to network column in Developer options.:crying::crying:
This may seem like a dumb question but... is there a way or an app to essentially turn on WiFi hotspot feature so that I can make an ad-hoc LAN but NOT let all the devices connected access the internet?
Example: I enable WiFi hotspot on my phone. I still have a cellular data connection so I can browse the web, stream music, etc. but any other device that connect to my phone's hotspot does NOT get my data connection, they are just on the LAN the built in android hotspot creates.
I don't want to let other users "run up" my data usage but I want the other users when they connect to my hotspot to be all on one network.
I have a bootloader unlocked Motorola Moto X (original, 2013) and rooted and I use Tasker. Maybe after I enable the hotspot feature I could modify some IP tables via a Tasker app to "enable/disable" internet blocking.
Or maybe there's an app out there for this? I suppose another alternative would be disable mobile data and then enable hotspot (if that's even allowed) but the pitfall there is then my phone doesn't have internet either.
Thanks,
Mike
Hi all,
i've got this big problem and i dunno how to solve it.
Stock rom, MIUI 12.0.3, no root, developer options active.
I ran into this annoying bug months ago, while trying to get my car's android auto working with my phone without using usb cable.
I managed to connect my Mi 8 lite with the car via wifi connection; made it enabling Android Auto developer options (otherwise it wolud let me connect only with cable). Unfortunately once connected everything doesn't work, because there is no data: while wifi is on AND connected, my phone doesn't "want" to use my mobile data, even if i force data use by setting "mobile data always on" option in developer options.
I noticed this is not a problem of my car's infotainmnet, infact it happens also if i connect my phone to my wifi network unplugging phone's line cable (and so internet data ) from my router. Also in this case, with phone mobile data always active, my phone will stay connected to my wifi (which has no internet) and won't use my mobile data.
Does anyone have any idea/suggestion or know what i'm doing wrong?
Thx in advance for reading

But no widely working workaround yet.
