I have the Google Photos app set to be managed manually in power settings but the pictures still do not sync when I take them with the camera. I need to manually open the app to get the sync to start.
Ive been reading around and it seems on other phones modifying this option fixes the issues, but not on the mate 20 pro.
Is anyone else experiencing the same?
Same problem as you. Still there on Android 10 beta.

Damn, was hoping Android 10 would fix this issue. I wonder why its happening, turning off the battery saver features allows all my other apps to function in the background.
I think it's an app issue, it's also happening on other devices of mine such as Xiaomi. At some point I'll try rolling back to an earlier version of the app and see if it's working.
You all obviously didn't get the memo or notification that Google photo no longer backups automatically.
This might help..

This is not related to what we are talking about, we're not worried about anything to do with google drive. Just the Photos application auto-syncing in the background - works on some phones and not others.

Not sure if anybody else has had this issue, but I have Auto-Sync turned off, and have it set to NOT backup Pictures, Videos, Music, or Documents. However, Backup Assistant Plus still gives me a notification every ten minutes or so saying it's "Synchronizing [Pictures, Videos, Music, or Documents". Anybody know of a solution? It doesn't seem like I'm able to disable it from the application manager. Thanks guys.
Not a development thread. Read the forum description before posting.
Wrong thread but you can disable it. Go into apps and you'll see a disable button once you click one ba assistant

Can confirm that this does not solve the problem. Switched everything off and it still pops up "syncing photos/videos/documents" periodically. annoying.
Can anybody find a solution for this? It now not only shows up every few minutes saying it's synchronizing, but every time I upload a picture it says auto-upload complete. I have already gone through and completely disabled Backup Assistant Plus, and it is set to not synchronize anything.
I have Chrome sync running. Shows it is syncing fine under the accounts area and all bookmarks, etc. sync. A couple of times since last night when I open Chrome I get a couldn't sign in prompt. Clicking next does nothing. Running stock rooted mk2. If I close Chrome and reopen all is fine. I can also go into the accounts/sync area and tell it to sync and it works.
Also getting distorted text on xda (but nowhere else yet at least). Screenshot attached. Any thoughts?

Are you using chrome beta? Cuz my beta does the same text distortion and I have to go into landscape mode for it to clear up and be readable. It's very annoying. I haven't tried going back to just the regular chrome version to test it...

Regular Chrome, not beta. I think they might have just pushed an update in the past day or so. maybe that is the culprit. So landscape and back fixes it then?

Yea maybe.. It usually fixes it for me but not every single time.

So no "Couldn't sign in" issues for anyone else though. Been like 4 times today. Only happens when I open chrome, but if i hit back it just works and bookmarks and such seem to be syncing. Maybe a google now issue?
So are we really the only ones with the Chrome text flow issue?

You aren't alone on the sign in issue. It happens rarely, but it's started doing it the last two days or so. When I click next it says something about an error and not being able to sign in or something.
I have an android app that basically loses its connection while running in the background. However if the phone is kept on with screen on it keeps working.
Is there any app to keep the app in the foreground with screen off?

I have tried that but it didn't yield any results. When the phone goes to sleep for around 10 mins or so, the app doesn't receive any alerts. If I had an option to ditch the app I would but I'm stuck with it.

The phone is a J6 2018 with the stock 8.0 rom. The app in question is Salesforce.
A wire shark capture from the wifi ap shows the phone basically doesn't keep the connection alive and downloads all Salesforce push alerts when the phone is switched on.
Strangely other apps including chat apps like whatsapp works fine.

May be thats the app causing this. Sime apps cause such things like MDM, mobile pass, Symantec VIP etc. Kinda all corporate apps.
Whats was the behaviour on any of your other phones?

I had an iOS device which is working fine but an S7 device had the same issue. A friend of mine said the same on a V20 with 7.0.

Yes because iOS and Android handles the applications in totally different way. as all of your Android devices and your friends's have the same behavior, its application causing this and not OS specific. Corporate apps behaves like this, even boxer email (VM ware owned) act differently on Android and works just fine on iOS as if they were developed for iOS only.

Agreed on app behavior and OS. At the moment I am collecting info before I pass it on and at the same time trying desperately not to look like I'm ignoring folks when I check the phone every 10 mins. Sadly the app was rolled out and has to be used.
At this point I would settle for something that would wake the phone up every 10 mins or something just because of this.
I use Google Photos as my default photo app. Whenever I tap something -
1. image is loaded
2. half second
3. boosted/corrected image is loaded
It's rather annoying, especially when I'm on Display > Image Quality Settings > Standard mode.
I also have Auto Creator Mode off.
Does this happen to anyone else?
Yes is happening to me, just tried. Didn't notice before because I use album app. It's really weird and annoying
Right, thanks for letting me know. It's apparently a bug in Google Photos itself. Not a phone issue.
I sent a mail to the google support, but well, it's really weird since after reinstalling the app, it does well for some times and then the bug appears out of nowhere.
Can confirm it's definitely the app. Revert back to the previous version, and the issue no longer exists.
Thanks guys, it's definitely a pain but very obvious

I just stopped the auto update and after de-activating reactivating the photo app, I didn't updated it. Bim, fixed. I don't even know what are the changes with all those updates without a proper patch note.
Update google photos has fix the bug
Sori still have that symptom
Hello all,
I'm having a strange problem with my S23 Ultra. I can receive notifications from Telegram, Messages and WhatsApp but not from my banking apps.
To diagnose the problem, I checked that notifications are enabled for the apps, no deep sleep, lock screen notifications not showing content for the apps, I enabled notification history and attempted to transfer money from one bank to another. I received no notification. Checked the notifications history and there was nothing for the app. However, luckily within the app it allows you to see sent notifications and it it's recorded that it's sent a notification of the transfer.
What else can I do to diagnose. This is only impacting some apps (mainly banking ones from what I can see) although it is difficult to tell for sure if you don't actually know whether the app sent a notification or not.
Have you tried to set the app's battery settings to unrestricted?

Hey! Did you actually find a fix for this? I'm currently experiencing the same exact thing on my nothing phone after I updated it to android 13

Did these apps send you notifications previously on prior devices?
Not OP, but at least on my device, prior to updating it to android 13 all apps would give me notications with no issue
Did you set the phone up from scratch or restore from a backup? If the latter, that's probably your problem. I would factory reset the phone and take a few hours to set everything up from scratch.
None , just OTA updated it.
I guess that is closer to backup though. I might factory reset it tomorrow when I have a bit of time then. Just a bit annoying, especially from an OTA update
