system-as-root (SAR)
Some (newer) devices were using it before .. but beginning with Android 10 it's mandatory for all devices.
We use "2SI" - 2 stage init - thru fstab in ramdisk !
Magisk team explains the different ways on how SAR got implemented into android devices.
Pls check magisk xda thread and twitter account for more details on SAR.
Various apps and tools do have problems with "system-as-root (SAR)" and all it's implementations.
It will take some time until all the tools have been updated.
Magisk 20 is ready for "most" of the SAR implementations.
If you install Magisk 20 on RR TEN you will see "Detecting .. system-as-root" on your screen.
Until all the apps and tools have been modified for SAR there are some workarounds in place ..
Dont' make installation queue in TWRP !
Install each zip file manually.
For gapps installation it helps if you mount system partition manually in TWRP mount menu - before gapps installation.
if mounted already in mount menu - unmount and remount again.
For other tools it helps to just copy "/system/system/build.prop" (SAR location) to "/system/build.prop" (OLD location before Android 10)
build.prop is just an example .. maybe your tools requires other files to be copied.
The logic to detect if "/system" is now located in "/system/system" is missing in most of the tools/apps today.
Actually some TWRP version for some devices use the flag "system_root" in config today - to let TWRP know about SAR.
Maybe next TWRP version will include also some additional "checks" for Androdid 10 SAR devices - and it's various implementations.
https://twrp.me/site/update/2019/10/23/twrp-and-android-10.html
To summarize ..
Pls be patient until all the tools/apps have been updated for SAR on Android 10 !
Or use some workarounds to make it working today.
Cheers

Now in it's own thread
RR team has rebased and started from scratch .. now on LineageOS .. like in Pie and before.
If you do dirty upgrade your settings app will may have some issues.
Clean install ins recommended.
The symlinks for vulkan do not work .. for this reason I have copied them back into system.img, like in cm-14.1 too.
We need both 32-bit and 64-Bit - This will increase ROM size by 60MB .. but we still have enough space left on system partition.
Here you are ..

The Rom seems very smooth on first try, thank you followmsi.
However, I can't flash the gapps linked in op.
I am getting:
# Begin Open GApps Install Log
------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------
# End Open GApps Install Log
INSTALLATION FAILURE: This GApps package can only be installed on a 10.0.x ROM.
# Begin User's gapps-config
# End User's gapps-config
Installed fine for me gapps and everything seems pretty smooth so far ?

This can happen sometimes, I had no problem with Open_gapps-arm64-10.0-nano-20191006-BETA.zip from the link.
You clould try a second time right away (don't add the zips in que) or reboot to recovery and then try 1 or 2 times again in a row
Or mount system partition manually in TWRP mount menu - before gapps installation.
if it is mounted already in mount menu - unmount and remount it again.
thanks for bringing the tab to android 10 great work, cheers

Thank you very much!:good:
I can confirm that dirty flashing isn't working, play store and linked services keep crashing all time.
Clean flash was necessary and now my tab is blazing fast.
Thanks @followmsi

I wiped just the system and cache and everything seems to be working. Used Play Store to update several apps with no crashes. So, semi dirty flash seems to work OK.

To me, the point of a dirty flash is to keep from having to setup the tablet and reinstall apps. Wiping the system doesn't effect that, so there is really no reason not to wipe it.
Anyone notice that the battery life of Q is a alot worse than rr pie?

thanks for the update.
dirty flash on top of the initial version does not work. google services crashed instantly after reboot.
had to do another dirty flash, followed by gapps flash. but then all official google apps like youtube, maps etc. were crashing. a deinstall / install of the apps helped at the end.

Frequent questions
I do not use GAPPS! How can I remove?
R: Unfortunately not. Sorry.
What are the bugs?
R: See Known issues in OP.
How do I get root?
R: Download SuperSU Flashable and install via TWRP. After this, update the application by the Google Play
I found a bug!
Make a logcat and put it in pastebin/hastebin. I'll look when I can
You will need a computer, adb installed, usb debugging enabled on the smartphone and a usb cable.
Here's how to do it here.
1. Open Command Prompt (Windows) or Terminal (Linux/macOS).
2. Type:
Code:
adb logcat -d > logcat-dd-mm-yyyy.txt
This will save the log to logcat-dd-mm-yyyy.txt.
No nonsense questions, please!
Avoid meaningless discussions and help you and the user have useful information on the thread :good:
Dan, when I connect the phone to the PC, I can not access the files because there is no information to authorize the procedure in the notification! Please take a look when you can.
Calm down, Padawan! This is not a bug but google stuff. They have placed the authorization option on development tools. Everyone is trying to understand why this
Do this when you want to have access to them:
Go to System -> developer option -> USB and activate MTP manually.
What will be the frequency of compilations?
Monthly or every two months . I plan to spend $12 per month for the projects.

Also i have seen from Moto G forum, folks have seen better results with Android Go config.

- Cannot open files from ES explorer apps. Message "SD card formated as internal memory, reboot your phone"
- My files apps works to go to external SD but until now internal SD no chance, maybe a repit problem, going to repit and reinstall to see.
- Camera works great but sending photos by bluetoth or gmail didn't work.

Since i bought it 7 years ago, free from any mobiile operator, i never had this problem before and until now it got thousands "ROM flash".

Regarding the unlock network code message, it happens since i tried to install lineage-15.1-20180731-UNOFFICIAL-i9100 i guess, not from your ROM.
But for other bugs i still have issue, even after new reinstall, from repit. Maybe i miss something after the repit process.
I don't remember, should we reconfigure the format of cache, system, etc ?

Installation instructions:
1. Make sure you have TWRP installed on your device to be able to flash the rom.
2. Download the latest build from the link above and copy it to a place where you can find it later.
3. Optionally download GApps for using the Play Store and other Google related services from here: https://opengapps.org. Choose ARM as architecture and 9.0 as the OS version. The size of the GApps package is upon to you how much apps you want to have preinstalled. Copy this zip aswell to a place where you can find it easy later. If you download it with Chrome or with the Google Drive App it should be by default in the Download folder.
4. Turn your phone off and press Volume UP + Home Button + Power button at the same time until the splash screen appears. Then your device should boot into the recovery. There you wipe following partitions: Data, System, Cache, Dalvik if this is your first install. All of your installed applications get lost by this. Your photos, videos etc. won't get deleted if you haven't ticked the box for internal storage. As the kernel also supports F2FS i would change the filesystem for the cache partition from ext4 to f2fs for a better system performance. Now go to the main TWRP menu, click on install and go to the place where you have placed your zips and first select the rom and then click on the left button if you have downloaded the optional GApps package to add another zip to the queue. Now swipe the slider at the bottom to install and reboot the phone to the system. The first boot can take a while and after booting you could experience some lags because of the GApps initialization but they should disappear after some time.
4. Now you have successfully installed the rom and you're ready to use dotOS on your device. Congratulations!
Bugs:
- VoLTE (isn't working on samsung devices and won't work anytime in the future too)
- HWC isn't enabled yet (could lead to a bit performance decrease in apps with alot of layers)

Are you sure that this is working? I think it has to do with something else
The ROM is now out official with working OTA Updater. Changelog from the last unofficial build:
- Widevine L1 is working now for a better quality when streaming movies etc. via Amazon Prime or Netflix (thanks to danwood76)
- A few more SELinux fixes

Although we now have Windevine L1 our phone is not supported on Netflix or Amazon Prime (it is not on stock either).
There are some hacked versions of Netflix floating about but I don't think you really need HD on our tiny screen .

Widevine L1 is even supporting 4K, isn't it?

L1 just enables a more protected version of DRM, it is carried out in a secure area of the CPU (mobicore). So yes it supports higher resolutions but neither Netflix nor Amazon support non certified phones, you may be able to get round it by changing the build fingerprint. I've not tested it because I have no need for HD video on a 4.7" screen .
Bug, or Problem?
Man, help me. I installed the Dot OS 3.0 (Pie) version, until I was able to use it for about 5 - 8 hours, but suddenly he started to stop the interface making me unable to use the phone, first I formatted it thinking it was just a bug , but it remained, I went back to version 2.5 of DotOS (Oreo) but still still giving the same problem ...: /

What exactly is the issue?
Did you wipe /data /system and erase the cache before installing?
Can you provide a logcat of the error?

Did you install gapps?
If so try a full clean flash but without installing gapps.

You should be able to install the latest opengapps with DotOS without issue.
I don't think there is official Xposed for Pie, and I have heard that the unofficial is very unstable.
Why do you need xposed?

Yeah, I see the unofficial, I will stay in Oreo, but thanks for the answer
I need the xposed for the modules: LTweaks, Gravity Box, Xposed Edge.

Found a little bug
When you drop down the notification panel whilst in landscape and try to close it by tapping in the blank space below the "no notifications" text or around it, the menu bugs out, showing the tiles for a split second and then closing all together.
keep going..
Hello. I have been following dot OS for a long time. I've noticed that during both the trial of both stable and android pie .. The location is wifi hidden. I enter the user name and password manually, but does not recognize it. Although it appears to be a registered wifi network, the connection happens. everything is ok when wifi is removed from the modem interface. We wish to have a small share ..
Router bug
I noticed a bug when I try to connect the router along with the mobile data, it just does not turn on.
Good Job man, and thanks so much for this great ROM . You're the best.

LineageOS 18.1 is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 11 (R), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
Features:
RIL: LTE, Calling + recording, SMS and MMS
Wi-Fi: Connection to 2.4 and 5 GHz, Wi-Fi Display with audio
Bluetooth pairing, sharing and audio
Audio & video playback, streaming and recording
NFC
GPS and sensors
Camera
Powered on/off and wireless charging
USB file transfer/MTP and charging
USB, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi tethering (hotspot)
Google services and SafetyNet compliant (banking apps and Google Wallet work out of the box)
Storage encryption and SDCard
LineageOS Recovery with encryption support (not required, but endorsed )
Slimport HDMI
LG Quick Circle case support with FlipFlap
Known issues:
DRM/Widevine L3: Amazon Prime and Play Now (Polish TV stream) are working and streaming, but the quality is 540p.
YouTube doesn't show 1440p in video quality options.
Slimport HDMI connection creates screen flickering, but it's not visible on an external display.
Won't work:
VoLTE

These bugs are related to the GApps, these are very shady but the basics work. I am waiting for @walter79 to respond and I'll build our own GApps.
Thanks for the feedback.
D855 32gig: came from 17.1, flaweless install, all works perfect, no lags or hassles. Nice work, will be my LOS from now on! Thank you HardStyl3r for this ROM.

The setup wizard is tricky this time. It automatically replaces TWRP with LineageOS Recovery unless you uncheck the option. To bring back TWRP, use flashable ZIP in my TWRP thread, flash it (either adb sideload or sdcard is fine) and skip the signature check failure.

Good news on the LS990. installed and booted up fine. Data and telephony both working. Rom seems just fine. Still have my twrp . No fc and no reboots. Can't get magisk 20.4 to flash so no root yet but as smoothly as it's running so far we're looking good. Thank's for the LS990 build.
Update !! Found Magisk 21 and installed root. Works fine now. One question about setup manager related to installing lineage recovery. Is it a onetime setup question or will it ask this on future updates and or resets ? Just wondering if it's something we need to be on guard against . Possible to disable the feature ? Fortunantly I happen to catch it and uncheck it so I'm good. Thanks
LS990 users you can install this . The old reboot problem we had with lineage 17 is gone. This runs good enough I'm going to continue with it as daily driver for now.

This should only pop up when you clean /data. As far as I know, Setup Wizard only appears on first boots, which includes clean /data. If you've unchecked this, I think you are safe. Enjoy. And yeah, the latest Magisk beta works.
Fixed: took the latest Magisk-v21.1.zip, then run the TWRP-App and installed .bin file. Enable Advanced restart and all works fine again!
Why can't I find Advanced Reboot option? Someone enliten me!

I'm still tasting this rom.....so far few nagging problems below:
1) It is better form of Vanilla Lin, around 400 Mb more than Vanilla Lin.
2) Why Lin-recovery is baked-in? Twrp/OFox needed. Lin-recovery little better than stock.
3) How to get magisk using Lin-Recovery?
4) It is constantly asking for statistics permission (enable Dot Stats) on every change in settings.
5) I think Built-in substratum is turning black screen for (camera app settings page) when in dark mode.
6) When I tap on Build Number 4 times to enable developer mode, it is showing casual messages like: Are you even trying?, This is why nobody likes you!, This is not windows!, Dont you have anything better to do?, Break your phone you stupid! What are you doing?
Its does not look professional, very casual so i mentioned.
7) I dont want to go further into this ROM because mainly LOS-Recovery is present.
------------------------------(Nowadays-All-Monopoly-ROMs)----------------------------------------
OK Bro thanks, I'm back to Lin 18.1 vanilla for now, which is the only proper VANILLA rom available till now for RN10 i think, but It has deep-AI which is scary!!!

2) You can still flash OFox or TWRP.
3) You can just adb sideload magisk.zip while in recovery > Install Update > From ADB to root your phone.
also,

2) That didnt work in LOS-recovery, It is showing error code :127 ; I tried adb sideload method (magisk 23 zip flashable) . I tried to sideload OFox for RN10 same error 127, Twrp-nebrassy img file in sideload mode how?
3) Even if magisk is flashable, LOS -Recovery it looks very ugly, reminds of stock recovery. Limitations.
What is deep-AI in Lin ---> ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/privacy-tech-giants.4337823/ )
What happened to the download links? Awesome it has gone official, but there are no build on the website as well. Was this recalled?

LineageOS-19.1 microG For Moto G5 (Cedric)
With the rise of Big Tech and the encroachment of government into our lives , I felt more of a desire to move away from Google and the like.
Moto G5 (cedric) was built with microG and LineageOS source and is fully functional.
What it is. It's LineageOS with all of Google's closed-source binaries removed and replaced with microG. I.e. no Play services or GAPPS. UnifiedNLP is used as the networking location provider instead of Google's NLP. Aurora Store and F-Droid is installed by default and provides an alternative app store. However, with the Aurora Store, you cannot install all Google Play Store apps such as buy apps.
Other information
Google Play Store Alternative If you want to have full access to normal Android Play Store apps, After opening Aurora Store, select the appropriate option. usually option number 1 is the most commonly used with this ROM, unless changed by the user. After setup, you will have access to all apps as usual. Some apps require Play Services and cannot be used.
After installation - Open the microG app --> self-check sections should be successful. Location Services - By default, LocalGsmNlpBackend, which uses the NominatimGeocoderBackend, and NominatimNlpBackend, which uses Mapquest's Noninatim service, are disabled. Open the microG app --> location modules and enable the modules you want. Then restart the device.
It is strongly recommended not to install NikGapps as this ROM contains a replacement for NikGapps these are microG

All my roms are created with a signed private key.
If you want to use the Lineageos recovery,
However, I don't know how the Lineageos recovery works as I have never used it on my other devices as I only use twrp.
Everyone is responsible for their own actions. Neither Team Xda, nor I, the creator of the theme, will take responsibility for any damage to your device caused by any Flash attempts.
This Rom consists purely of MicroG and has no Gapps or nikgapps.
I have here a few screenshots original from Moto G5 cedric.
Which is the pasword of your Rom for to start the device man
You seem to have run into encryption issues.
Formatting is the best way to resolve that issue at the cost of loosing your data.
Id try to go back to the last known working state, boot up the system, take a backup externally and then reinstalling this rom, formatting the data partition and then restore the system.

I can't answer that as I have never used official lineageos your current rom is signed and mine and the signature of both roms are not identical.
If you use TWRP
Make a full backup of your current rom just to be sure.
You have to deactivate the signature check in TWRP if you want to install my rom.
But I am not 100% sure that it works,
You'll probably have to install clean.
Just test it out if it doesn't work you can restore your backup.
Or you can install clean and have to reinstall all apps via aurora store.
But please read my first post carefully first
Hi how can I use gapps on this I wanted to try repainted app as this rom dousnt have material u theming and the lockscreen clock feels a bit crocked
And the phone restarts suddenly
Animations are also jittery even when I put everything to 0.5x
Gapps on microg builds is really not a thing you should do.
Something might be crashing in the background
On the other hand the Moto G5 is weak and not really supposed to run those versions...
Will there be any bug fixes?
Network traffic monitor is not working.
.
Installation without problems, system runs smoothly. Issues: phone not encrypted, SELinux disabled.
Encryption should work, you can enable it in the security settings.
Note that you cant read your data in twrp once you do so.

Yes, encryption works if it has been enabled in the security settings.
But how to enable SELinux? After booting system shows this alert:

Well I didnt manage to create the proper selinux rules, so that the phone boots, so you cant do that.
