You cannot Frankenstein an H930 phone to North American variants or vice versa. Frankenstein is full conversion where your variant becomes another.
That method described above is a partial conversion which does not include modems. Your frequencies remain the same. So would that do you any good?
The only reason people tried that above was because they were frustrated are the North American Pie release delays. Some said when they tried to convert back their phone didn't act right...

[Help] Convert v30 us998 to h930?

I found some good kernels for my Lg v30, but it's said only for h930, because ramdisk is different. Therefore, if I convert my us998 to h930 (by flashing official h930 KDZ or custom H930 rom like Boombox). Will I then be able to flash the kernel? Have the ramdisk been change after converting?
Thank

No, do not convert to H930. You'll brick your phone trying to flash H930 KDZ.
You can probably still use the kernels. "H930" in our development is generic for V30. The only time that not true is if you have T-MOBILE H932.
That's when all ROMs are either for H930 (almost everyone) or H932 (only that variant specifically).

Thank for your helpful information.
I have flashed the Turtle kernel from telegram group, known as only for h930, for my stock 20e us998. The phone was booted but suddenly restarted right after access home screen. Then it repeated the circle.
i guess it's about the difference of ramdisk.
Tonight I will flash custom h930 rom like Pixel Exp and give it a try. Hope It works...
Again, thank you for reply me.

Yeah, you should probably only use those kernels in custom ROMs? Many custom ROMs have already recommended custom kernels.
I just know all the current "H930" ROMs are compatible with US998 20E.

You can flash AOSP custom ROMs on US998. WHERE do we have to post it do people stop asking?
H930 is the generic Dev name for the V30, for AOSP ROMS. It just is. Only H932 can't flash H930 AOSP ROMs.
Do not try to flash H930 stock firmware on your US998.
Why do you think your need to flash H930 stock firmware on your US998?

No you can't flash stock H930 onto US998 but you can flash AOSP ROMS which are categorized as "H93O".

There's an actual thread of how to convert H930 to US998 excluding some incompatible files, its a bit confusing for someone who just walked into V30 community there are posts that say you can't convert then there are posts that tell you how to convert and some of AOSP OP's stated US variant V30 users need to convert to H930(having previous V20 and V10 am aware that H9--/9--DS[dualsim] are often international variant)
Lets say for e.g I need to flash havoc I can give it a go on US998 Oreo? Or ill have to convert to H930 also other H930 Roms I know these are compatible but whats the workaround convert and flash or flash over US998

All AOSP ROMS are for US998.
Forget they say "H930". That sort of a mistake..

It's not confusing if you read the ROOT STICKY GUIDE guide. See post #2, point 3 in the link above.
If you're flashing Havoc "Pie" (LOS-16) yes you use stock Oreo base. But IF you're flashing Havoc "Android 10" (LOS-17) then you need stock Pie base.
Read all of Post number 2 in the link I just gave you. You should have read it when you rooted your phone. It's in the WTF instructions.

You're welcome.
I wrote The ROOT STICKY GUIDE guide to answer such questions like that. And I put link to that guide in huge letters in the WTF instructions. But no one seems to go read it. Post #2 is "ADVICE ON CUSTOM ROMS".
The dev who created the first Los ROM had an H930. So he created the entire tree called H930 instead of V30.
But all the AOSP ROMs are compatible with all V30 variants except for T-Mobile H932.
So we get tons of questions like where are the US998 ROMs? Answer they're all the V30 AOSP ROMs.
A lot of people ask "how can I convert to H930 because I want to run H930 ROMs?" And the answer is, you don't have to do that.
While a talented, helpful person did write a guide on how to partially convert North American variants to H930, I do not recommend it at all. And I will continue to tell people not to do that. Most people want to do it because they want the LTE bands on the H930 or the H930DS. And the answer to that is, if you wanted those bands you should have bought H930 or H930DS.

There's just way too much information to take in haha,I had past experience with Samsung,Moto,Sony,Xiaomi even iPhone and Symbians I have used LG's too ever since G2/G3 in android realm but never tried modding them I wonder how other people with less info might get through all of it
Okay so I didn't plan to buy V30 I just got it cheap so took it coming from SD845 Mi8 had a 2XL in past too,so not being in US and H930 being more suitable for here do you think I'll benefit from H930's 4g bands ? Because I always thought baseband was more of a hardware thing don't get it how H930's modem will work with a US Variant
So far I am happy with LG US devices, there is no way around for Samsung US devices other than installing U(Unlocked Stock)
I just feel that My DAC on V10 sounded way better than both V20 and V30 although I'm sure these devices have newer DAC
I am planning to Stay on stock can kindly direct me to some mod that will improve cam quality and dac for Oreo or Pie smth stable and good for battery
Thanks a lot mate you've helped me a lot God Bless you

Wait. EU H930 is incompatible with US998 20H.
Do you have more than one phone? Because yesterday you were all over the EU H930 Pie thread, flashing that KDZ repeatedly on your phone.
You should never flash European firmware over North American variants and vice versa.
Here a couple of weeks ago you said you have H931:

So, why were you flashing EU H930 Pie on your phone yesterday? You are going to brick your phone.
If you indeed do have H931 (which seems to be the case, since you say it's "AT&T"), then you need to go back to Frankenstein and start over. Flash US998 Nougat, Master Reset, then US998 Oreo and STAY there until North American Pie is released.

You need to do the Master Reset after flashing US998 Nougat to stabilize it. Until then you will get bootloop. That's why Master Reset is there.
To me, at least, it seems you aren't following the instructions.

This is not really the right place to ask this question, so the thread will be moved by a mod. Q&A Section is better. (EDIT: Mod just moved it. Thank you!)

You keep saying that in several non-relevant thread... but do you mean stock LG Pie or Linage-based custom ROM Pie? Stock firmware Pie is still being rolled out.
(I'm still on rooted Oreo firmware myself.)
If you want Lineage custom ROMs then you need to bootloader unlock and root, and flash custom ROMs. See WTF INSTRUCTIONS for that.
If you want just stock firmware Pie update, then convert to latest US998 Oreo and wait for US998 Pie. See Frankenstein instructions.
Or what I've done -- bootloader unlock, install TWRP, root, THEN update to latest Oreo US998.

Yes, you can convert regional carrier AS998 to US988, using the Frankenstein instructions.
READ them carefully. Follow them carefully.
The only caveat is some AS998 were actually former LS998 converted by eBay dealers, using Octopus box to carrier unlock the Sprint LS998. In at least one instance, an AS998 user could NOT successfully Frankenstein to US998 -- due to something the Octopus box "broke".

US998 Oreo. Go to 20h directly if you don't care about bootloader unlock and root. Or go to US998 20a temporarily, use WTF instructions to bootloader unlock, then go to US998 20h.

It doesn't take opening another thread nor PM'ing me nor cross posting in other threads to find the US998 PIE KDZ thread -- where it's with all the other Pie KDZ threads.
Why are you going to try to flash US998 firmware over your EU H93O?. Are you trying to brick it?
Why don't you just fix the lags in your EU H93O. Read post #1 of the EU H93O Pie KDZ thread.

You shouldn't cross flash North American variants with H930 variants.

You can't flash EU H930 to US998.
Why are you trying to get US998 firmware on EU H930?
All the H930 variants (EU H930, H930G, H930D, HOL930DS) have their own firmware -- which are all compatible across those variants.
You shouldn't try to flash any H930 variant to any North American variant firmware...
Are you SURE you have H930 -- OR do you possibly have AT&T H931 or Canada H933?
If you indeed have EU H930, then go to the H930 PIE KDZ thread and flash latest H930 firmware to get your modem back. Use Dev Patched LGUP Partition DL mode or Refurbish mode.
