I believe most folks have switched from flashtool to newflasher but if you look down about 3 or 4 post one of the members were using flashtool but it didn't work due to a flash script was missing, anyway they discussed I'd for a bit but no mention in whether they got it to work.. (read the post)

Good luck.. Hope you will post some screenshot afterwards..
The baseband is still 72 ?
just a curious question, does the home launcher in 4.1.B.0.587 is smoother now like in GB? the only reason i had moved to my own ported miui because of it's too lag in 4.0.4
Out of curiosity which country is this update for?, I'm still waiting for the original ICS update in UK, and my phone is sim free, and they haven't updated the SI Numbers for a month.
recieved the update here .. in egypt
Anyone can post the ftf file?
Hey plz tell us more: D

PC Companion says the update is there, but it fails while starting the update process. It is globally failing now, for Ray and other phones.
So, no update for the moment

man, edetny amal fil 7ayah
you restored my faith in humanity
i'll download NOW
btw, did you lose the ROOT ???
Wonder what the deal will be with rooting this one? Hopefully it won't be like ICS 4.0.4. - i.e. using Flashtool to flash 4.0.3 kernel (then root & CWM) and then flashing back to 4.0.4 again. Then again, if someone posts up an .ftf for .587 it should be straightforward enough. Hopefully anyway!:fingers-crossed:!
I got update in georgia but same global fail while downloading firmware.. almost bricked my phone..
I got the update, UI just like previous stock one, but feels lot more smoother than before. I added some screenshots

The mentioned rooting method worked. I guess it will still be the only method for locked bootloader.

Yes, this for international version, I'm uploading the american version too.
And I confirm that can root and install clockwork mod such in 431 firmware.
Just flashed to 4.1.B.0.587. The UI is definitely smoother, and the camera lag seems to be gone as someone else has pointed out. Also the phone in general seems to be faster. I can also confirm like the others that the rooting trick for 4.1.B.0.431 works on this new firmware.
Could you guys please post some link with rooting instructions and necessary files to achieve it? Thanks a lot.
guys what about led notification? sms, missed call? working or not?

xPERIA Mini 4.1.B.0.587 firmware?

Ok,I have a somewhat stupid question but honestly,I can't find the solution at the moment...
I'm using an xPERIA Mini with unlocked bootloader,MESA kernel and the official ICS .431 ROM.
How can I update to the latest .587 ROM? I know I can't update through the "official" ways since I have the unlocked bootloader but I also can't find any Generic World FTF to flash either.
So,any help on this?
Thank you in advance!

I think GB is still the best. Try this ROM from sandy and shprakash
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1818357\
It looks like ICS but runs like GB in terms of stability and speed.
Any news? Meanwhile I think I m gonna give Paranoid Android a try!

THE FIRMWARE IS GOING TO BE RELEASED ON NEXT SUNDAY FOR XPERIA MINI PRO.. ie 16th september. CHEERS!!
source for this info?
visit sony website support

2012-8-16 must be a mistake, it should be 2012-9-16
Thank you!

I don't think date is incorrect - Sony probably did release fw, but roll-out is very slow... same was with first ICS fw... It was released but only few people was able to update...
So I think that ftf will come very soon
If someone got it already, let us know

Mini or Mini Pro?
Sent from my ST15i using xda premium
xPERIA Mini
Both mini and mini pro are listed to have 4.1.B.0.587 update on Sony website since 16 august 2012, but none of both has gotten any update regardless the country/region.
I guess Sony is playing with us, so when user of Mini/Mini Pro asking about the update, then Sony could answer: "the update is available, the reason that you don't get the update is because it isn't available for your country/region yet, you need to wait." and Sony would say this to every user of Mini/Mini Pro from every country in the world.

[Q] How to choose ftf

hello everyone

i'am new to sony's phones, previously i had a Galaxy s2 and i could flash any firmware ( any country/unbranded ) on the phone and it will work.
Thank you

If your bootloader is unlockable you can flash any FTF for your device (just to be clear any FTF for Z2 will work on your Z2)
If your bootloader isnt unlockable then only ones for your brand ver will work aka verizon Z2 FTFs only work for Verizon, not even generic (it bricks the device)
Sent from my D6503 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Regardless of whether your bootloader is unlocked or not, you should only be flashing FTFs that are for your device model. So if you have a D6503, then you should only flash an FTF meant for D6503, and not one that is for D6502.
thank you

Flashing Z5 Compact prototype - flashing via Sony Mobile Flasher question

Hi everybody,
I got my hands on a Z5 Compact Prototype (really cool, it has xx MP written on the back and a few other quirks), otherwise it's a completely normal phone. The model is still E5823, customization 1298-7258 R5B and current software 32.0.A.4.11 (5.0.1).
I'm wondering, is it possible to flash the latest Nougat or at least a MM stock ROM using the Sony Mobile Flasher? I'm asking because I'm afraid I might brick it (I never flashed a ROM in the Mobile Flasher beforehand). The drivers look OK, it is detected as an ADB device.
Also, is there any way to backup the current ROM and to revert to it later if needed? I tried the Xperia Companion/Repair my Sony but I don't think it works on this new version.
Thanks in advance.

Are you rooted? If you are you can try and take the build.prop from a retail unit firmware and replace yours with it. This way you will avoid hard bricking it. Also, take note of the firmware you are running and download Xperifirm (there you can check which exactly it is and download new firmwares directly). Xperia Companion might not work because 1) you are running a pre-release ROM and 2) differences in actual unit. *IF* it's the second one, I'd be very careful (tho with Flashtool you should be fine, Sony phones are hard to hard brick).
EDIT: You can compare the build.prop files and use common sense to find out whether it will be of any use to actually replace it..

Thanks for the tips.
I managed to flash a stock E5823 32.2.A.0.305 firmware (6.0.1) and it works perfectly. It's just that it detects an OTA Update for the 32.2.A.5.11 but it cannot install it; looks like flashing with Flashtool is the only option. I guess I'll wait for a stable 7.0 and I'll flash it afterwards.

This is excellent news! Since it's a prototype the FOTA partitions might not have been set up or don't work properly (if you have a saved Flashtool log you might be able to see which it is, although they should be fine since flashing hasn't failed ) but that's ok since you can use Flashtool. Are you going to root it? Also, Nougat is out, so be sure to root before you update :fingers-crossed: :fingers-crossed:
I've already flashed the latest (.378) Nougat build and it works great, just like before.
I know that there were some problems with root on Nougat. I don't really need root access because I don't use the device as a daily driver, but if I'd like to get root access I need to revert to MM via Flashtool? Can I still do that now?
PS: You can see a review of it with MM installed right here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/z5-compact/general/short-review-sony-z5-compact-prototype-t3555140

That's awesome! I also unwittingly bought a prototype and wanted to flash it to Nougat, but am worried about bricking it. How did you go about flashing it?
oh my god this is the tread i found, i have XZ premium prototype one looking for the way to flash original firmware. i found XZ premium firmware from Xpirifirm already downloaded and create ftf(as it really new one so i see no device number to pick i rather pick XZ name on it anyhow it is create with no issue).
but the problem is i go to flash it and flash tools newest version ask me to enter flash mode. i did but it did not go i do not know why, anyone knows why it cant be flash? do i need to install any drivers? or anything else to flash it? or it just need to wait for flashtools to update support for my device first? thanks in advance
