Hello,
i would like to allow my tablet Teclast T20 to connect to ETHERNET via USB.
I already own a USB to ETHERNET ADAPTER, that i use succesfully with my windows 10 laptop.
It is an ASIX AX88772 USB2.0 to Fast Ethernet Adapter, and i found that for this adapter is available a driver (source) in ASIX website
https://www.asix.com.tw/products.php?op=pItemdetail&PItemID=86;71;101&PLine=71
that should work for Linux and Android.
But when i connect the adapter to my tablet using an OTG Usb to microusb cable, and connect the ethernet cable to the adapter, nothing happens.
Searching on the web, i found that with Teclast T10, that is and older version of my tablet (that was without 3G module), was possible to connect to ethernet via a similar adapter with same chipset as mine : UtechSmart USB 2.0 to 10/100 Ethernet Network Adapter (Model US-USB2-E100).
Take a look here (min 5:55) Video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bIKpsqEMvHs
My tablet Teclast T20 has cpu MT6797X (X27) and runs on Android Nougat 7.1 and has connectivity WiFi + LTE
The Teclast T10, instead, has cpu MT8176 and runs on Android Nougat 7.0 and has only WiFi connectivity
So perhaps the kernel is different and the drivers pre-built in the kernel are different. How can i check if an USB to Ethernet driver is already built in the kernel of my tablet? And, if it is not available, how can i add the driver to my tablet? I know that i should have the sources of my kernel, but i think it will be difficult to get them from Teclast. Any suggestion?
Thank you!

hello,
My phone :
- Samsung Galaxy S II
- Android 2.3.3
- operator : SFR FRANCE
- ROM : SFR original : PDA:KE4 / PHONE:KE1 / CSC:KE4 (SFR)
I have this USB OTG cable : link
but the phone can't detect any usb stick.
Any idea ?
Thanks
Is the OTG recognized when you plug it?
Have you tried another USB device like a mouse or keyboard?
I think it's a problem with the OTG.
Yes I've tried with a lot of usb stick, a DELL keyboard and a usb mouse
What do you mean by "Is the OTG recognized when you plug it" ?
Do you mean just the cable without any device plugged ?
No the phone doesn't detect anything
Thanks
Is it possible that usb host doesn't work with android 2.3.3 and only work with android 2.3.4 ?
Thanks
it is very easy:
if you plug in the cable alone, without a device attached to it, and there is no immediate notification, then you didn't get a proper usb otg cable, but probably only an adapter from micro usb to usb a female. i have seen the listing you posted, but apparently, whoever manufactured and/or sold it to you, forget one important thing:
there needs to be a resistor between pin 4 and 5 of (AFAIK) 200k because the resistor controls, what the sgs2 expects plugged in.
you will find all the information you need in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1070573
with a video on how it is supposed to work.
and btw. that thread was created in may and otg certainly does not require 2.3.4
i want to connect my ethernet to my flyer, i found some andriod drivers in the driver cd provided with the usb ethernet, canu tell me how to conncet the ethernet to the tab with cool honey 3d rom installed. im new to rooting and all please provide me clear steps plz..
Hello Everyone,
I've been searching the interwebs for the last few days trying to find out where I download a compiled driver, or a way to compile my own for my Acer a500 tablet.
Here's my specs:
Tablet:
Model: A500 (rooted)
Android: 4.0.3(ICS)
Kernel: 2.6.39.4+
USB Ethernet Adapter:
Model: Trendnet TU2-ET100
Chipset: ASIX AX88772
Driver: v4.4 (Android 1,2,3,4)
I have found LOADS of compiled drivers for Android 3.2.x, but nothing for 4.0.x This is my first tablet and I just bought it yesterday, so I'm trying to learn as much as I can about it, please forgive me if I seem noobish here, i am.. I have already downloaded the latest ASIX driver (v4.4) from the chipset manufacturer, but when I try to compile it with the "make command" I get a return that it is not a recognized command.
I have also read multiple times that the Android OS already has ASIX drivers embedded, however when I plug my adapter into the USB slot I do not see any lights illuminate. I attempted to provide the adapter with dhcp in terminal, using;
Code:
dhcpcd eth0
setprop net.dns1 8.8.8.8
setprop net.dns2 8.8.4.4
I don't get any error messages, but nothing is happening either.
I decided to check the device after plugging it in by using dmesg, it reported the following:
Code:
usb 1-1: new high speed USB device number 5 using tegra-ehci
usb 1-1: New USB device found, idVendor=0b95, idProduct=7720
usb 1-1: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3
usb 1-1: Product: AX88x72A
usb 1-1: Manufacturer: ASIX Elec. Corp.
usb 1-1: SerialNumber: 0BAA93
What do I need to do to get this USB Adapter to work?

Just updating this.
After spending the amount of time I did trying to find a solution. I ended up giving up and rolling back my a500 to Android 3.2.1 Now using the appropriate asix.ko driver for my kernal the external usb adapter works perfectly. I guess I will just have to hold off on upgrading to ICS until its had the chance to be in the market for a bit longer.

I just found a way to do this for the Samsung Galaxy S3, documented here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=37548841#post37548841
Hope that helps point you in the right direction...

I've try to connect a USB Stick on a Samsumg S3... it work out the box: a pop up appears on Android und leds blinking on the device.
Then I try with another smartphone with a MTK6572 (Alcatel one touch idol mini), but it didn't work. I've use the same cable and the same USB Sitck
Maybe you will be luckier... but be sure to use a OTG cable, the 4th pin (sense) must be grounded to the 5th pin (GND) on the micro USB connector.

did it but nothing changed
So I tried using OTG devices with the Blackview Ultra with both the stock rom and CyanogenMod 12.1 installed but it just doesn't work. I have tried multiple USB OTG cables and none have worked, I know it is not the cable because it works fine with my friends phone. I have also run USB Host Diagnostics on the phone and it says that the OS supports OTG but simply no device is detected.
The bizarre thing is that the Ultra itself claims OTG support. It even comes with an OTG cable included in the box!
So if anyone could give me some insight on this it would be greatly appreciated. I really want to see some USB devices working with my phone. Thank you!
Bump
Anyone?
