Does anyone can help me out? After rooting (magisk patched boot img), I wanna change the system fonts by modifying the /etc/fonts.xml, I got "permission denied" error when copying files to /etc or /system/fonts folders via ES File Explorer (already opened Root Explorer option) or Terminal commands. I checked the property of /system folder using ES File Explorer, it shows that root user should have write access to the /system folder. Can anybody help me? Thanks in advance.

With system as root and Magisk I don't think /system is no longer a valid mounting point, which means you can't modify it in any way.
A module would be the only option in your case.

Thank you very much. Could you please give me any hint about the module that I can use for this? Thanks again.

Unfortunately I have no idea. I have never used a module for font changing.

Check in magisk manager. You will find a lot of modules for fonts

I tried to load the viperbloat mod but every time I run it, it says viperbloat doesn't exist. I tried through cmd and terminal emulator and still same answer and no work. Any suggestions?
Download my update. It 3.1.1 was pushing files to /vendor/bin which now no longer exist on perm root. I updated 3.1.2 to fix this. Enjoy
Hey thanks, but it still is failing to push the viperbloat file. it is saying
failed to copy 'viperbloat' to '/system/bin/viperbloat': Read-only file system
Unable to chmod/system/bin/viperbloat: No such file or directory
This is all that is said when I am running the .bat file. Am I doing something wrong, is my phone messed up? Please help

Oh, I forgot to update that part of the script. Damn, sorry. Just use root explorer to mount rw then run the .bat file.
little bit of a noob, how to do this? sorry

Either use adb if you have it installed and just type adb remount then run the .bat or if you have Root Explorer, open it, tap on /system and then at the top there is a little white button that will say "mount r/w", tap that and then run the .bat file.

Can't you just do "adb remount system" to mount it r/w, then push it?

tyvm for ur help +1
wifi problem in mesa 1.6 will solved after reboot.
When I try to install the premium version of Rom Manager i get "youre trying to replace a system app , do you want to continue ?" .
I click yes and then get "App not installed"
Any help or suggestions plz ?
Thanks
do you have root access? because that is necessary to change any system app in any case. Super User should pop up if you do have root. If it does not, maybe you accidentally denied it root privileges on first start.
Yes im sure its rooted and i checked Superuser logs on rom manager.
"created allowed allowed" and its in the allowed list.
Im guessing the installation is failing because its a system app thats in use or something ?
Since its a system app and installed via CM7 i cant even delete it.
It doesnt show in the installed apps list.
Any help is appreciated.
There is a directory under the /system folder I believe(bin?). Under that directory are a series of apk files and I bet there is still a file there for the rom manager. If you remove that with root explorer or something similar you should be good to go.

To anyone having a similiar problem this is how I solved it.
-remount system/app dir to RW
-delete offending APK
-remount /data/data to RW
-delete offending dir (in rommanger's case it was com.koushikdutta.rommanger
-reboot
-reinstall.

Es works. You need to go to settings-tools-root explorer-mount R/W and mount system as writeable

Crash could happen because you don't have enough memory. I did it for some system files on my phone and it always worked fine. But I always deleted the files I wanted to replace first

I would imagine adb would be your best option
Sent from my PG86100 using xda app-developers app
Oh GOD seriously?
Man you cannot replace the WHOLE system in any way except from recovery or bootloader...........NO ADB NO ES NOTHING will work.
ADB is feature that relies in the system of android. And when replacing the WHOLE system, the files needed for adb to work cannot change as they are in use, or if they change your phone will crash.
You can in no way change necessary system files while android is booted up beacause they are in use. Your whole operating system is in /system. Only recovery or bootloader will do.

Im pretty sure you can't. ADB commands does not work in fastboot and vice-versa. ADB only works in Android environment AFAIK. Though you can use fastboot flash commands and not adb push....
Gotcha, thanks for clearing that up.

Yes, as long as they are not needed for the system to function properly. You can replace them with ES or Push them via ADB with root access.
Hello, I am trying to install viper4android and I cannot place the APK into the system apps folder, I just get operation failed. I have tried ES and Solid explorer. Only other way I can think of is a zip install from recovery, how would I make that?

Using es file explorer hit the menu button, root explorer, then mount as r/w.
