Hi everyone, this is my first post on this forum and I really need some help.
I purchased my Samsung Galaxy Note 9 from Samsung.com just a little over a year ago. I ordered the T-mobile version of it from them since we had been using T-mobile for years. But recently we decided to make the switch to Xfinity Mobile. I had already checked on the Xfinity website to make sure my phone's IMEI was compatible and it was. And since Xfinity Mobile uses Verizon's cell towers, I checked if my phone's IMEI was compatible with Verizon, and the said it was as well on their website with "Nice, your SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE9 NVZW will work on our network."
So today when we went to the Xfinity retail store to make the switch and get the rest of the family new phones (since they all has the S7 edge which was not compatible) they checked my phone's IMEI number and it showed compatible, but they had me put in a Xfinity Mobile sim card just to make sure and that is when the headache began. I got a message on screen saying "Network Lock This device can be remotely unlocked if eligible. Please use the Device Unlock application to unlock the device. Make sure the device has internet connectivity to the Device Unlock application. "
I already my Note 9 permanently unlocked thru the t-mobile app a couple months after purchasing this phone a year back. I called T-mobile and they said it looked unlocked on their end and they couldn't find any reason why it wouldn't work and transferred me to Samsung Customer Service, who said they can't think of any reason for the problem but told me the nearest Samsung Care location was literally walking distance from the Xfinity store. So I went there, and the Samsung Care guys told me that it could be a hardware lock and that they could trying flashing a rom for Xfinity Mobile if they can find it, but there is always the brick risk. I had them check the warranty status and it literally expired one week back....fml.
I tried a factory reset, but still getting the same message. Would appreciate any and all advice on what to do from here.

I received a Samsung Galaxy Note SGH-i717 from an AT&T rep a year and a half ago, but never used it as a phone. It was just used on wifi with stock ROM for testing purposes. A couple months ago, I wanted to unlock it to use on another network, so I called up their support and received the unlock code. When I put a T-Mobile SIM in the phone and tried the code, I got a message saying Network Unlock Unsuccessful. I've gone through their support both on the phone and in person and ultimately they are either unwilling or unable to assist me (depending who I am speaking to).
I've tried Googling and going through the forums, but really haven't been able to get the phone unlocked. Is there anything I can do, short of paying some local kiosk an inflated fee to get the phone finally unlocked to use on another network?
Thanks.

I was able to unlock my phone by following the instructions in this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2124544
I was on At%t as well but they didn't want to give me the code so I followed the instructions provided in the topic whose link is in the previous post and everything went fine
My wife bought me the international version of the Samsung Gear S (SM-R750W). She said that she researched and from her understanding it should work on the T mobile network. From what I've found though the consensus seemed to be it would not work, or if it did it would be spotty at best depending on the specific towers/area you were in because Tmobile utilizes different network types in different areas.
I decide to give it a shot anyway and went to the T-Mobile store where I signed up for the wearable plan and got a new nano sim card. I was crossing my fingers but as soon as they put the sim card in the watch it came to life. It looked to be working fine but as I left the store I received a text from T-Mobile stating " the SIM for your wearable devices is in an ineligible device. Services to the SIM are locked until it returned to your eligible wearable device".
I pessimistically started thinking well great, there goes that idea. But as I got into my vehicle I shut my phone down and tried to see if the watch can work on its own as a phone when unencumbered from my Note 4 bluetooth/WiFi data connections. It worked perfectly-I started calling my friends and they couldn't believe I was talking on a watch phone. Several I actually felt the call sound quality was better on the watch speaker phone compared to normally speaking on the Note 4. I called customer service but they told me they couldn't see anything and if it was working fine not to worry about it.
For the next eight or 9 hours it worked perfectly and I was using it a lot. I drove around large swaths of town and neither data nor call experienced even the slightest issue - for once I was happy to be wrong.
Eventually, as I am oft to do, I fell asleep. When I awoke this morning the watch was no longer connected to the network. It gave me a message saying it was unable to connect and did I want to scan for additional networks. I selected yes and it was able to find the T-Mobile and ATT networks. T-Mobile was selected and a "registering" notification was displayed. It took awhile but eventually said it was unable to register with the network.
I call T-Mobile and they said pretty much exactly what I expected them to say -that because it was not a T mobile device they could not ensure proper operation. But he said (and he characterized this as "good news", "light at the end of a tunnel" and "viable solution” Seriously said all 3 things.) I could either forget all about the cellular connection and just use this as a companion device OR go and buy a new Gear S from T Mobile if I really wanted that feature.
I’m truly and utterly baffled that he believed his suggestions merited the positive sayings from above. Never in my lifetime has my head been closer to exploding.
After I was finally able to speak again, I explained that it seemed unlikely to be an issue with the watch. If my Gear S was working perfectly yesterday and can still detect Tmobile & ATT networks, then something on your end seems to be preventing registration. He agree to file a ticket with the engineering team and tomorrow I should hear from them hopefully. He also told me to go and try another nano-SIM, gratis, at the Tmobile store. So today I went and as soon as I put the new card in all systems were go. I assumed that I somehow had received a bad card because here again now, data and voice are connected.
This time I didn’t even make it out of the parking lot before it notified me that that it was again unable to register with the network. There is conflicting information regarding the radio frequencies and bands that the different Gear S models have and I didn’t have high hopes. But then it actually did work, WELL, so any ideas as to what is going wrong?
Imei not recognized as a wearable device by tmo
I am also getting very discouraged with the gear s on tmo.
But I think I finally got a tech person who may have found the problem ,
He said my gear s is no longer registering because the tmo system did not recognize the Imei as a wearable, that's why when I swapped sim with a friends iPhone sim, the gear worked. Because the wearable plan will only work with that device. The rep is asking engineering to add my Imei as wearable, but it has happen yet, he did not know if they could....

I guess that makes total sense, and answers my question if I could just get an Android watch phone at some point and use the same nano SIM that they gave me for my Gear S.
Could you post here if/when they added your IMEI? They were super unresponsive to my request to unlock my original Gear S (which I replaced with an ATT Gear S that ATT kindly unlocked for me), so I have little faith that Tmo are even willing to help their customers, but since I have my plan with them, I'd love to be wrong this time.
Tmo problem
Well I wish I had better news, but it is still not working, I called them back, they say they requested the engineering to add my IMEI , but who's knows if they did, they seem to have very little experience with gear s, it's very frustrating because it did work the first 2 months until I tried the sim in my iPhone. I think I have reached the end of the line ,
I might try closing acct and opening new again...
So can either buy new tmo gear s. And sell my unlocked att gear, or put mine on att,
But. I really liked the Tmo plan, and would probably had switched my other (family) lines to Tmo.
anyone have more ideas?

Maybe try to cancel your wearbales plan, then get one again, with a new SIM and new number?
I would not buy a tmo gear S: they won't unlock it and it costs $50 more. I use an unlocked ATT Gear S on T-mo without issues, but if putting the SIM in another device caused this for you, and the SIM itself is not the problem, they must have some kind of hold/notice on your wearables plan in your account, I think?
back in aug i bought a s9+ sprint version, when i bought it i poped in my tmobile sim and it has worked fine no issues, i have no idea if the phone has been paid off or not but i havent had any issues for 6+ months, but when i click the UICC unlock it says error cannon be completed internal error 407, do i just go ahead and install the t-mobile rom? or is there any benifit of using an international rom or something? also is there any way i can check if my device has an upaid ballance?
Call Sprint, if the phone is paid for they can remove the UICC lock (Best Buy did this on my S7 when I traded it in for the S9+).
So in May of 2015 i purchased on Amazon a new Volt 2 to be used on Virgin Mobile with a yet to be established accoung. The next day my Mom surprised me by giving me her old Samsung and added me to her phone plan. The following week when The Volt 2 arrived, it got lost in the shuffle and instead of returning the phone, it got tossed in a closet... unopened... never activated... And no account opened with Virgin.
4 years later, a friend who is down on his luck just lost his cell phone. He doesnt have the money to replace it because he was laid off 2 weeks ago. I offered to put him on my plan with sprint becuase the plan i have is so cheap to add a line and figured i would give him my stashed Volt 2 since it's a CDMA phone and should work on Sprints network.... If life was only that easy.
When i went to check the IMEI number on Sprints site, it came back with a message that said something to the effect that the phone qualified but i had to bring in to a Sprint store to activate it. Just to protect myself i called Virgin and asked if the phone was locked and explained the whole situation to her. She looked up my IMEI and claimed there were no holds on the phone and shouldnt have a problem bringing it to sprint. i asked her to triple check that information which she did and assured me all would be ok with Sprint...
i go to Sprint the next day to add my line and though they didnt say it was locked, i was told i just couldnt use the device on their network. So before i esculate this issue with Sprint I decided when I got home to call virgin again and make 100% sure my device has no holds are on it anwhewre.... carrier hold, sim hold, device hold, any hold.. The tell me nothings wrong with it. In all honesty, I never told them on the phone that I never activated activated the device, as I assumed they would of seen that.
I put a request in with sprint to provision the phone to its network and the rep didn't seem to see why she couldn't they said it would take 72 hours and I'd get am email with the outcome. It's been 8 days no email.
I'm sure the problem is that I didn't have service on the phone for the required 12 months in order to get the carrier unlock restriction.... Obviously the fact that the phone hasn't been activated is what's messing up everyone's view if the device. It has no phone number, no account to tie it too and under the system under bootloader there's nothing there it blank. The phone starts up fine, i can connect to my wifi and use it just fine. But under settings there's no network associated to it and most everything is blank. I put a correct sim sprint card in and it says invalid sim. It tries authorizing and fails. It on every reboot it tries to activate and eventually fails. It will download update, but fails with an authentication error when rebooting and installing. Phones not rooted or hacked (yet). And I've looked into the unlock companies out there and told if I can't get the phone yo ask for an unlock code when putting another sim card in, then there's nothing they can do... I can't get it to do that, no matter what shortcut / hidden menu option I try. In fact even *#06# (or variation thereof) won't pull um the imei number. It's listed in the settings. But I wonder if the fact that it's not asking for an unlock code when changing SIMS is because it's not activated anywhere. But if I activate it, will a lock be put on it immediately? And why are they locking phones 4 years old... Come on.
So is this phone just junk unless I want to pay $40 a month to Virgin for a year? On a phone that's 4 years old?
For the record I posted a message on vigin communities message board not giving IMEI number and said I'd supply it through an PM if requested and I was simply replied to with the staple "phone must be activated on our network for 12 months" line.
i hate throwing away any electronics especially ones ive never used. Is that my only option if I want to use the phone anywhere else other than virgin?
Sorry for the long winded posting...i couldn't find a decent answer anywhere on Google when searching if can you unlock a phone that's never been activated.
Help.
not oe reply? ok maybe it was too long and boring tro read so ill just condense it to one line...
is there a way to unlock a prepaid phone form Virgin that i bought 4 years ago but never activated it on any network?
When i asked Virgin they claimed there was no lock on it, in fact they didnt even see the device. But when i tried activating it on Sprint, they showed a lock and said they could provision the phone and it would be available to move in 72 hours... that was 2 weeks ago and i still can't get the phone on Sprint.
So do i need to activate a 4 year old phone on Virgin and keep it for 12 months before it will get released? I tried an unlock service and they said if it doesnt ask to enter a unlock code, they cant help... i cant get it to ask for this code.... its a Volt 2
any suggestions?>
Has anyone had any luck at network unlocking their TMobile Tab S7+ ? I purchased from Samsung but they didn't have an "unlocked" version. Bought the TMobile one but it appears to be Network Locked

Yes, I paid off my device then it automatically sent me a notification to unlock. I went to Settings>connections>more connection settings and clicked the unlock button. Now it shows that my tablet is network unlocked.

I'll try it but not real confident
I just got the Jan security update from T-Mobile. When I run it now it tells me my tablet doesn't meet the requirements. The support page says it must be active for 40 days, which I haven't quite cleared yet.
Not the end of the world but I can piggyback on to my existing ATT plan for $10 a month. The t-mobile plan is 50 unless there's a better option?
I'm still on the October Security patch .... wonder if it would be worth the time for 2 factory resets lol??
I got a plan for my tablet with T-Mobile that was originally $60. But they offer a discount since I have a phone line and a couple of dollars for autopay. I get unlimited data on my tablet for $20 a month. Can't really complain!

I've posted a couple of places but I think the easiest and best way is to temporarily activate the TMO SIM. I then contacted TMO Twitter support ...... They know what's going on, the phone support doesn't. Tell them you have a Samsung device that's paid for. Can they please network unlock the device. Within 48 hrs I was able to unlock my device in the settings

Yes. Initially I tried their online chat, then called in and then went to a store. No luck with any of them. They directed me to Samsung, who then directed me back to T-Mobile. I messaged them on Facebook and Twitter. The Twitter attempt went nowhere. However, they engaged with me on Facebook Messenger quickly and were able to get my S7+ T-Mobile tablets unlocked. I gave them the IMEI numbers and they submitted a request to Samsung who then (somehow) whitelisted my IMEIs. This process took a couple days. Then I was able to successfully use "Permanent Unlock" under Settings - Connections - More Connection Settings - Network Unlock.
Now I'm trying to figure out how to make this thing work on AT&T...
Hey guys, just wanted to see for the ones who got theres unlocked, are you able to perform root? Thanks

I bought a t mobile with hopes of activation to att after my 60days. Turns out from my business att rep that the s7+ isn't compatible on att. It's isn't compatible with Verizon either but I put my son's sim in it and worked like a champ.
Today I took my buddies att sim and it worked like a champ. I took a new att sim activated for another device and popped it into the tmobile tablet and it never registered. Not sure why my buddies iPhone sim worked but not the new att activated one or how a Verizon sim worked.

Sounds like possibly att is putting restrictions on their network.
