Amd Ryzen info !!! You can't do anything with this platform. - Xiaomi Mi 8 Guides, News, & Discussion

Just wanted to post some info about Amd Ryzen based laptop.
It seems that you can't Unlock, Flash, use adb or fastboot command on this platform.
It has to be intel based computer.
Yesterday i tried to unlock bootloader and flash custom rom.
None of this worked on my Lenovo AMD Ryzen Laptop.
I used my wife's old MacBook pro with Windows running in virtual maschine.
Trying to unlock with official Xiomi Unlock tool won't work. Nothing happens, no error message no nothing.
The same thing is if you try to flash TWRP with fastboot flash recovery twrp.img, it simply waits, nothing happens.

It's a problem with USB drivers. Use any simple USB hub and it will work [emoji4]

I have a first gen. Ryzen desktop and it's working without any issue.I unlocked my bootloader, flashed twrp, and adb/fastboot works like a charm on other mobile devices too.

Yup, can confirm 2nd gen Ryzen doesn't work without an USB Hub, it's pretty annoying but atleast we can get those for cheap anyway

It's not your AMD, its an issue caused by buggy Windows 10.
I have a brand new Intel Core i9, and the antivirus stops/ partially deletes every ADB tool that I attempt to use, even with antivirus and signature enforcement disabled.
I end up using my Macbook or the old PC for matters that involve ADB.

It's definitly not the antivirus or anything like that since the same app/folder for ADB/Fastboot works perfectly fine with the phone connected to the USB Hub and not directly to the MB. Don't know anyone with a Ryzen 2 or 3 that has managed to get Fastboot to work without an USB Hub

I'm using AMD Ryzen 2600 and everything is working fine.

Same here...I think its non-sense it is not based on the Ryzen Architecture...possibly OS or Manufacturer FAULT. (Chipset Driver etc.)

Thanks for that info, I had read about people using usb hubs and had intended on coming back to edit what I wrote previously. However, i was not certain.
I am glad that you provided a definitive answer that will help this whole community. Cheers.
Eidt: It is interesting however, that I experienced a similar issue with my brand new computer and yet was able to use the old computer. Now the old computer has been updated with the latest Windows update and it too now has the same issue. However, using a hub indeed works. weird.

I have the same problem with my 3500u laptop. But ryzen desktop 3700x works fine.

i am having the same issue.. i have ryzen 3600x on b450 flashing with mi flash tool or twrp flash or anything didnt work for me.. tried minimal adb, qualcomm driver, google driver. didnt work but as i installed minimal adb in my laptop i fastboot and flashed properly.. something is wrong with amd or driver or chipset. any ways to get it to work.

I have a I have a ryzen 5 3600 and have no issues at all.

Yep same problem.
MSI B450 Gaming X and Ryzen 3600
Can't unlock or flash recovery.

Always used Intel computers. Recently got my friend a Ryzen 2600 with AMD4 mobo. Fresh Win 10 x64 install and we had a problem with USB WiFi - kept cycling power on / off / discoonecting / reconnecting. Was fine prior on Intel with Win 10. Found the issue and fix - Win 10 installs all default drivers nowadays for easy setup. Most USB controllers are Intel also. AMD boards most have AMD USB controllers. Fixed by installing AMD Chipset Drivers.

Using threadripper CPU, works fine just have to use usb 2 instead. Reverted to stock numerous times and managed to unbrick twice.

Hey, will this work for the ryzen 5 3550h as well? Or do I have to get a USB hub? I'm planning on going for a ryzen based laptop and this is one of the main issues I'm concerned about as I own several Xiaomi devices and would like mi flash/unlock tool to work on it.

Can't find correct Windows 8 64-bit drivers.

Specs: Windows 8 64-bit. Clean and restored HTC EVO 3D. HBOOT 1.58.0000.
I have tried almost everything, but I can't get my phone recognized in fastboot mode.
I tried what was listed here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39218156#post39218156

I was able to get mine working with the combo of
1. uninstalling any HTC sync or sync manager and the HTC BMP USB Driver. Basically anything HTC.
2. Install HTC sync. Not sync manager. Go to the HTC support page and you'll see both listed. If you go to the specific phone support page it might not be there. (One S doesn't have the sync program, just sync manager iirc.)
3. Download PDAnet. When installing, It'll give a warning that you already have drivers installed and ask if you want to fix them or leave as is. I chose it to fix and it went though its process and I had working drivers after that.
I think this was already suggested before. I going back and giving thanks wherever due after this post. (On the mobile app right now)
Other easy way if you're using a One S is to download Hasoon2000's All-On-One Toolkit. He's updated the drivers for windows 8. I haven't tried it yet as mine are working so haven't had the need. I would assume his tool for any of the other phones he supports would have the updated drivers too.

And the phone is recognized fine when in regular mode. Though, whenever I reboot the phone into the Bootloader using adb, it restarts into the fastboot, but it doesn't change to "Fastboot USB" and shortly after I get a "USB Device Not Recognized" on my PC and it saying something about it malfunctioning. So I get stuck on "Waiting for device" when trying out this command "fastboot oem get_identifier_token."
Any ideas? I'm trying to unlock the bootloader and root so that I can install custom ROMs and kernels.
Hey there! Sorry my fix didn't work for you.
My question is, are you running windows 8 or 8.1? The reason I ask is because the 8.1 update has broken fastboot apparently. I don't remember the last time I tried on my computer to see if fastboot still works or not since I updated to 8.1.
If you are running 8.1 windows then the guide at droid-now.com seems to have worked for many people. Go to that site and search fastboot fix windows 8.1 or you could just Google that too I guess. I would paste the link right now but my phone is being stupid and not letting me paste it ATM. :-|
If that doesn't work then you may be able get what you need done by dual booting into Ubuntu if you feel comfortable doing so. You could easily make a bootable flash drive that you could boot into just for an emergency. I just used one for about 4 days while fixing my computer after I accidentally erased the partition tables of my hard drive, trying to make a permanent installation of Ubuntu. Got it fixed BTW! ats self on back:
Keep us posted if you get it fixed or have any more questions! I hope I've been at least a little helpful. I'll try to help any more I can if possible!
Good luck!

I am running Windows 8.1, however it looks like the fix only applies to Intel motherboards connecting through USB 3.0 ports. I do have USB 3.0 ports, but my motherboard is AMD and my USB3 controller reads "VIA USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller - 0100 (Microsoft)." I'm not sure that the fix applies to me, unfortunately. Also, I am not connecting my phone to my PC using the USB3.0 ports.
I tried downloading the USB 3.0 Drivers for Windows 8 64-bit on the manufacturer's website for my motherboard (http://www.gigabyte.us/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4305), but when I try to update my drivers to the ones I got from the website it says that the Microsoft provided ones are the most recent/ up to date drivers.

Be Advised, there is perhaps a way , you wil find in the link below, but be sure to use the right intel driver And only if you hae an intel chipset for usb3 , please read the comments and my bad experience :
Under win8.1/X64 that if you have(like me) an Intel 8 /c220 (or with a 4th generation like intel I7 4770k) you may encounter a big mess , and perhaps you''l have to do a clean install of win 8.1 : all the usb2 DEVICES were disconnected after the first iusb3xhc.inf driver install !! So no more usb/Bluetooth keyboard+mouse , fortunately i had an old ps2 keyboard and i was able to delete only with "tab/alt Tab/ctrl tab" keys the
"intel usb3 extensible " line in device manager, and as soon as i done a refresh (ALT+A) in device manager the previous driver(Microsoft) was reinstalled by win 8.1 andall the usb2 devices connected (mouse/keyb/hub etc)
http://plugable.com/2012/12/01/windo...#comment-19066
see there there's in the last comments at the bottom , Andrew(tks to him!)a link + modified drivers for intel8/c220)
and for me it worked mouse/keyB were functional during all the process
next step check the fastboot adb is working now
Here you go... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2061435
A later post I made (I havent updated the OP, shame on me...) is a link to some universal drivers from CWM that works fantastic! - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40108463#post40108463
Before trying this I would goto your device manager and right click on the currently installed drivers and uninstall them before installing the drivers again.
Hope that helps. I am using the link found in that second link and fastboot and adb works perfect. Also, while you can boot into fastboot, stock 1.58 will not let you run a lot of fastboot commands and will need to flash a different hboot.

[Q] Stuck on fastboot not recognizing my device

hello.
i think i have already tried everything to get fastboot on my pc find my device, but no luck.
I've got an old laptop with usb 2.0 + windows 8.1 x64 Pro and the same OS on my PC with usb 3.0 (according to some of threads, my CPU is i7 4770k and my MOBO is MSI Z87-G45).
I use my HTC Desire X every day and it is simply slow. I cannot try every ROM cause of need to flash boot.img. And i Dont have any idea how to get the fastboot recognize my device....
Maybe someone have some time to help mi wlak through this 'issue' idiot friendly? I'm really confused and i dont have any idea what to do.
my hboot is 1.25.** JB. S-ON. I have installed TWRP recovery.
:crying: halp
EDIT:
SOLVED. Windows 7 FTW.
Also had this issue, quite frustrating as no drivers seemed to work for me, got if fixed now though (no need to go back down to win7)

Installed a HTC sync like program named PDAnet, and updated the drivers from that program, once in fastboot mode device is recognized in pdanet and in a command prompt (adb). this only worked on a usb2.0 port though.
(didn't bother replacing usb3.0 drivers as suggested elsewhere as this has caused big issues for me before.)

Odin 3.12.3/3.13.1 not working on Windows 10 64bit after clean install

Dear all,
I am having a problem with getting Odin 3.xx.x (also tried older ones) to work on my clean installed Windows 10 64bit system. For some reason Odin is not recognizing any samsung phone on my system. Before i reinstalled windows it worked without any problems. Windows is recognizing de phones when i check the devices. it showes up as Samsung Mobile USB CDC composite Device and as a Samsung Mobile USB Modem. (Also showing up in COM ports when i show hidden devices)
What i have tried so far:
install/reinstall/uninstall Samsung USB Drivers
Different versions of Odin
Different Phones
Installed Kies
Latest (USB, Chipset) updates on my HP system.
Different USB Ports (2.0 and 3.0)
different cables
The strange thing is when i connect the phone(in download mode) and start Odin the added message appears. Flashing is not working. (Tried with a working twrp on a SM-G355HN, tested it with another PC that has a working Odin)
When i disconnect the phone Odin shows the "Removed" message. When i reconnect the phone, the "added" message is not showing. But when i disconnect is does show the "Removed" message.
My friend has the exact same HP Zbook with Windows 10 and does not have any problems at all.
I tried running it on another system (HP Workstation Z640) and i got the exact same problems. Also running Windows 10 64bit.
Is it possible that Odin needs specific software to work like a Visual C++ or .Net version?(just guessing here)
I really hope there is someone that can help me with this. Its driving me crazy.
Thanks in advance!
There is a particular type of Samsung drivers that works fine across all systems I think it's the version 15.4 download it and try.
Thank me later

I installed SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones_ver_1.5.65.0 and e few others. None of them did the trick. Is it possible that you ment 1.5.4? (Did not find it yet)
I tried 3 systems with windows 10 64 bit. unfortunately none of them are not working. No one else got the same issues? Or better, solved the issue?

Fastboot problem on USB 3.0 ports

Hi guys, today I set up my notebook, to use in the future, MIUI flashing tool (No bootloader unlock in this machine, cause: ryzen CPU).
After installing the drivers I restarted in fastboot mode and all ok..recognized device (Android bootloader interface).
subsequently, to restart, I typed:
PHP:
fastboot reboot
message returned in the phone:
PHP:
"press any key to shutdown"
In my desktop pc (front USB 2.0 connectors), I do not have any problem.
For me it is a big problem because I will soon have to leave home for work and I need to use the notebook to flash the phone..
Any way to fix this issue? Many thanks

For me was the same problem. I made the contact between the Poco and the PC in another USB port and it is work! I don't know why, but the solve for your problem is an other USB port to use.
Thanks for replay my friend. In my notebook there are only 2 USB ports 3.0..so..no way..
I repeat, form me is a big problem...away from home (and from my desktop PC) for work with my laptop I can't flash my phone..
Nobody knows how to solve the problem?
Try this tutor and download the adb tools

Same here it will be so much better to get this fixed as I cannot fastboot anything from my Ryzen PC be it anything
Hi Guys,
Am also unable to use fastboot commands like flash recovery and others on Pocof1 using an Amd lap. Tried with both my windows and linux installs.
Is this a known bug.
The interesting thing is that my redmi note 4 has no problem with the same lap while using fastboot.
I don't have this problem but I'm using USB 2.0 cable.
This is a known problem due to usb 3.0. It started working when i bought usb 2.0 hub
Just use usb hub it is the only way to get things working

POCO Unlock problems

Hi, I'm currently having problems unlocking my POCO F1. I've currently attempted on a Windows 10 (Ryzen 1200, 12 GB RAM) and a Windows 7 (Lenovo Thinkpad S1 i5) Laptop.
On the Win 10 PC the phone isn't reconized, I've reinstalled drivers, used ADB drivers then reinstalled Xiaomi drivers.
On the Win 7 Laptop the unlock program gets stuck on the login screen, not displaying it.

I have no love for drivers so just install/update Mi PC SUITE. 9/10 it works for me.
https://www.androidpit.com/forum/780683/how-to-solve-mi-pc-suite-not-detecting-phone
Yeah that seems to not be working. It's not detected and both USB Debugging options are on and OEM Unlocking whilst also trying to use older versions. (And it's not supported according to the site?) Edit: Also sometimes it'll display Press any key to shut down or something on the lines of that when Windows detects it.
Try following the instructions from this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VwWGv5DKXFc.

AMD Ryzen will not work. Use an Intel Win 10 PC. Try different USB ports and cables.
@aerospaz, one thing to note is that you can't use USB 3 ports. You have to use USB 2. If your Lenovo only has USB 3 ports, get a cheap USB hub and connect through that. It took me over a week of trying before I stumbled on a post that mentioned that. Once I connected through a hub, I was unlocked in the time it took me to read through this thread.
