Hello, I hope you're doing well. I am trying to restore some deleted Facebook conversations, and I heard that they can be saved as cache files in the Android data storage, but you need to root to access the "hidden" files. I also heard that this particular Samsung model (Samsung Galaxy S6 Active) is hard to root. I tried to access the files without rooting by plugging the Android to the PC, but nothing showed up when I explored the different fb_temp and fb_cache files. Please let me know if there is a safe rooting method out there. Thank you.
EDIT: It is Android version 5.0.2, and the model number is SM-G890A.
Bump
Bump.
Any suggestions? Thank you.

Your best bet is to flash TWRP make sure the correct version for your device and then use TWRP to flash magisk for root. https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/orig-development/twrp-t3080940

Yes, a backup is always wise to ensure you keep all the files, flashing is "uploading" additional software to the phone. But since you only need some recovery check out Magisk: https://******************/ You can download from the app store as well.

Ok, understood. How can I backup? I know there's manual backup via PC and via Google Drive, but are there any other apps? Like backing up specific data perhaps? I'm just scared of losing data if this phone gets bricked or something like that.

Ok great. So, the steps would be to do a manual backup, and then download TWRP on my phone, and then root my phone with Magisk via PC? What are the exact steps per say? Thank you for your help.
If ii were you I would just download the Magisk App to see if that works, it should give you access to root and your recovery apps should work.

You do not need TWRP for the app, TWRP is for the zip file. They both do the same thing but most people familiar with TWRP use that method.
I found 3 versions for the S6
S6: https://twrp.me/samsung/samsunggalaxys6.html
S6 Edge: https://twrp.me/samsung/samsunggalaxys6edge.html
S6 Edge +: https://twrp.me/samsung/samsunggalaxys6edgeplus.html

Hello, it looks like your phone is indeed a rare version however I found some sites that might give you some options to root if using the Magisk app fails. But I also found some topics here on XDA where the S6 Active is impossible to root so I doubt it will work.

Hi, my Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3.
My device is bought in Singapore.
Its my first time rooting my device.
Ran into a problem that I couldn't turn on my wifi anymore. (tried wifi fixer app and turning airplane mode on and off)
I have successfully rooted my device as verified with the Root Checker App.
I have downloaded all the files from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2330598
I should done all steps correctly.
After I have done those steps, I downloaded Simons_JB_Rom_v100_based_on_AMH1.zip
from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2374899
Transferred it into my phone then I proceeded on installing the Custom ROM.
I've backed up my stuffs through the the recovery.
I have reset my phone to factory settings, wiped the cache partition, wiped Delvik cache.
I did a restart but i did not see any "Yellow exclamation logo".
After all, I proceeded on to install the ROM.
I cant turn on my wifi from now on. I've tried to download the "Wifi Fixer" app but it wont work.
I got a feeling that I have not erased my previous stock ROM but I proceeded on to installing the custom ROM.
Any kind souls out there who can help me or give me some links that I could refer to?
Thank you in advance! :fingers-crossed:

You need to do a complete wipe and install a stock rom and verify if the phone works. If it does then start again with rooting etc. If not return it for a replacement or repair.

Just install the custom Rom over the top of the old one, no need to do factory reset or wipe anything. The custom roms are based on stock anyway.
Try that and see how it goes.

I know that this thread is very old but I didn't want to make a new topic on something that was similiar to the problem I was having, apoliges if making a new thread was the right thing. I just really need you all's help.
I'm in need of some assistance.
I have my Galaxy Mega on Metro Pcs. Woke up today and decided to root it or at least ( attempt ) to root it myself. I looked up a couple tutorials and eventually did it. BUT, due to me being inexperienced I didn't make a "backup" of anything.
So now, I'm stuck with a Galaxy Mega that seems to be rooted on another platform other than Metro's. I also am unable to use the Wifi feature, and it seems that I can't transfer files via USB - PC
I tried reverting my mistake but I don't think I'm flashing the right thing. Can someone please guide me in the right direction as to flashing this Mega back to the way it was. I don't want to bother with the root anymore, I just want the phone back to the way it was.
I'd really appreciate any help you gentlemen could give me.

What root method did you do that didn't require USB Debugging to be enabled?? But yea, I dunno about that. You're going to have to find out though. You'll need the SP Flash Tool to work, whether it's to install the custom recovery, or to install the entire stock firmware.

Isn't there a standard recovery mode on these phones that I can use (combination key press) to install a rom copied onto the SD card?

That's pretty handy. But no, the stock recovery does not support that. You might be able to get out of it just from doing a factory reset in the stock recovery, but it's hard to say since Xposed makes changes to /system as well and the factory data reset does not affect the /system partition, just /data

Is there a guide how to use this in Odin?
Doens't work, you get a eMMC write fail
edit: now my S7 refuses to boot. I can still acesss the download mode, but odin cant seem to flash anything on it.
So my S7 is now useless :\
edit 3: these files are old, thats why they dont work if you've recently updated your phone.

Lol. No, PD3 is still BL v2 - you can flash it no matter what current version you're running. And the files are official - they don't harm or corrupt the phone.
eMMC write fail has nothing to do with the files themselves. That's a board-level issue
can we get a re-up

OK first things first. You have to reinstall SuperSu for that code to work AND a patched boot.img.
Second for what reason do you need SuperSU to be in system mode?

Thank you for your time. But can you wrote the full steps below? Because I'm tired of getting into a bootloop only because I am not able to understand the instructions! You can do it only of you want to!
Secondary, the Knox Reset app has a plugin to make the success rate bigger of turning the 0x1 back to 0x0 (as far as I know) and the plugin needs system mode root :/
Lol right now I'm not rooted because I'm tired of the bootloops while rying to system mode root

Easiest way is to reroot systemless. After rooting back up the boot partition with TWRP.
Unroot then install SuperSU in system mode.
Finally restore the boot.img from the backup.
Reboot.
Note also be aware that system mode root is hit and miss on devices running nougat.
You still haven't stated which device?

Then you have a 50/50 chance of root working in system mode.
Also tbh I think this knox app is fake or it just fakes knox to 0x0 the same way Magisk can.
Since this device sports a Snapdragon, how likely is it that it's going to get TWRP/OrangeFox or Custom ROMs?
Still early day dude
I am quite hugry for TWRP for A52 5G as well... as I need to load the BluetoothLibraryPatcher / https://github.com/Magisk-Modules-Repo/BluetoothLibraryPatcher
So untill I will be able to load this fix into the device, I am not able to use my Galaxy Watch now with the rooted A526B :-\ ("never ending pairing problem")
This https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/resolved-pair-gear-watch-to-rooted-s20-failed.4200677/ doesn't work on A52 5G.
Is there anything, what we as owners of this device could provide to make the creation can shift a little faster?

You can flash your BluetoothLibraryPatcher though Magisk , I'm not familiar with your device but the BluetoothLibraryPatcher module is there.. Hope it works for you!

I think, that on this device is unfortunatelly needed something like "vendor partition resizing", because nor the direct execution of the scripts, nor the Magisk pack doesn't work
And of course I am not so skilled to try something like "vendor partition resizing" on my own without some nice tutorial (I tried something and... the device was during last 3 days +/- 10 times bricked )

Why would you need "vendor partition resizing" ???
I don't have the A52 yet but I have a Note 9 and a Tab S6 and I have no problem installing BluetoothLibraryPatcher either from Magisk or from the storage and without having to resize anything...
As you don't have TWRP yet, don't forget to backup all your apps, data and settings using SmartSwitch and save them all to your micro SD, usb key or your PC in case you'd have to restock and restore.
But in my opinion the worse you can get is a non functional Bluetooth with many popups so you will have to be very fast to clear the popup messages until you reach the Magisk Manager to remove this patch, or bluetooth won't simply work correctly.
Second option is to install the "libsecure_storage companion for rooted Samsung devices" module which do more or less the same thing. I used it once when I had a problem with the other bluetooth module...

because touching vendor will broke the file if there is no free space on partition.
I need high skilled tester to test my twrp build.

I wouldn't say I am highly skilled. But I can easily repair my phone if the twrp file bricks it. Last time I just restored my recovery backup :/
