I recently received a ulefone Armor 6E. Sensors Multitool reports:
Name : MAGNETOMETER
Vendor : MTK
Version : 1
Power : 0.001 mA
Resolution : 0.1500000060 µT
Max. range : 4912.0000000000 µT
It came with the most current non-EU software installed (RF3_V01 build)
I have been unable to get any compass apps to work properly or calibrate the compass after MANY attempts (figure 8, three axes multiple times, etc.)
Is anyone aware of a script or firmware hack/update which might address this? I suspect the MTK magnetometer is used across many MTK SystemOnChip devices in addition to my Armor 6E.
Looking at the data, the sensor is detecting changes but the compass just won't calibrate.
The phone is rooted with Magisk and has TWRP recovery. I also have Titanium Backup Pro, so I can persuade system apps to go away if needed.
Also, I did find this source code repository in a search:
https://android.googlesource.com/ke...d-4.4.4_r3/drivers/misc/mediatek/magnetometer
It just occurred to me that power saving settings might be a cause (like GPS power saving).
I am now sometimes able to get a good calibration, but only with certain apps. Maybe the magnetometer is really sensitive and prone to interference from nearby objects?

There has been a lot of fuzz since it was announced yesterday that the galaxy s2 line is vulnerable to an exploit that wipes your device simply by opening a website.
This is due to the handling of 'TelUrls' that open up the dialer for conveniently starting a phone call from a website. Unfortunately, instead of a phone number a USSD code (e.g. *#06# for showing the IMEI) can be entered and will be executed IMMEDIATELY without user interaction.
For the S2 there exists a USSD to full wipe the device. I am not sure if something like this exists for the MP, but showing the IMEI definitely works (I'm on a mod of the 4.04 Stock rom, so it should work on stock as well) if you click this test link:
http://fotovossblog.peggy-forum.com/USSD.html
So be warned. The guy who provided the test link also has written a small workaround that can catch the USSD before it is sent to the dialer, you can find it in the play store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.voss.notelurl
Cyanogenmod 10 seems to handle this better (tested on my S3). Here the USSD is only executed if you press the call button.

The mobile is an MTK6582 CPU with 2GB ram + 16 GB rom (WCDMA), 5 inch IPS display. I got this phone a few days ago and could not find any solutions regarding location of GPS. I have used/seen a few MTK6589 phones which are all fine with GPS navation (I use navfree + Australian Map). At first I use original stock rom (4.2.2) and failed then I tried other roms (Miui and others). I have rooted the phone and used Uncilemobile MTK tool and other GPS test apps but they did not work. I even edited the build.prop and added one line "dalvik.vm.execution-mode=int:fast" following youtube video and still I could not located any satellites. with Wifi or Data connection, I can instantly locate my position on google map. Please help. thanks a lot.
Rooted Note 4 Verizon - Snapchat not pushing system notifications for snaps after bypassing Snapchat's root-user block (Titanium Backup)
I recently rooted my Galaxy Note 4. I had to use the bootloader unlock exploit, and it turned out to be a more complicated process than I anticipated. Luckily, I figured everything out, only to find Snapchat blocked root users - no problem. I found a forum for using Titanium Backup to copy data over and log into Snapchat on my rooted device just fine. My device is rooted successfully with JasmineRomV7.0 and I have no issues with the system's functionality, and my TWRP works properly and I even created a Backup of the entirety of my device. The issue I'm now having is that Snapchat does not give me any notifications, whatsoever. I already checked Samsung's core settings and everything to make sure Notifications are enabled, and in the Snapchat application, too. I also tried prioritizing the notifications - no use. I have read about people who successfully got into Snapchat even with rooted devices using the same process I used, but I have found NOTHING pertaining to the notification issue. I have no way to know if someone is sending me snaps without opening the app every single time I open my phone to see if any snaps load. If anyone has any insight into this issue, please share what information you can. Thank you so much in advance!
Device Info:
Model Number - SM-910V
Android Ver. - 6.0.1 Marshmallow

Hello. I recently got one of these because the specification found on the internet indicates it has a built-in FM radio tuner function. However, having received it, I found no apps on the device to use this function. The device runs its original factory OS which is Android 6.
Installing the Alcatel FM Radio APK on the device manually does not complete. The error message says 'X - Application did not install'.
Could anyone please shed light on this issue. Is it possible to use the FM radio on this device, and is there an app that can utilise the function?
Needless to say that I do not want to run apps that stream radio stations via the internet.
Many thanks
Hi,
I have a Pocophone F1 that recently upgraded to MIUI 12 (Global stock ROM). The password and fingerprint functioned normally until removing the password. Now when I try to set a password (pattern, PIN or password) a fingerprint is requested, the sensor doesn't recognize my finger and gets stuck on this screen.
I have already cleared all data from the applications below and restarted the device:
- POCO Laucher
- FingerprintExtensionService
- Fingerprint test
I also tried to create a Second Space, but the password is requested and I can't move forward.
In the Fingerprint input test option, the finger is not recognized. The sensor works normally, it vibrates (except on the screen to set the fingerprint) and I can take pictures with the sensor. I don't believe it's hardware because the problem started at the moment when I removed the password and fingerprint.
Any ideas what I can do to resolve without restoring the device?
Bro, Don't worry about your hardware.
It's a software bug and many MIUI 12 users are facing it.
I faced issue in setting up fingerprint in MIUI 12 too.
So I downgraded to MIUI 9 and it works like a charm.
You have two ways, either wait for next update to fix the issue or downgrade to lower MIUI version.
To set password etc boot in twrp and select advance, then file manager, in file manager select data, in data select system and in system delete lock setting files (3 files or may be one only).
Reboot and set your password.
