Three different solutions.
1) Reinstall full image KDZ as "Upgrade". This will keep your data. If that doesn't work...
2) Factory Reset. This will wipe your data, but will clear everything. If that doesn't work...
3) Reinstall full image KDZ in Refurbish mode.

Where do I find KDZ for LG v30+?

Thanks.
1. Where do I find the KDZ file?
2. My phone is unrooted. Is rooting required?

I'm searching for solutions for exactly the same issue, subscribing to this thread now. Thanks guys

No point choosing nuclear option. Try disabling Google Assistant. It worked for me. Phone feels 10x snappier.
Edit: I turned it back on after while and so far so good..

No, rooting is not required.
We have KDZ for several variants posted here in this forum. Or you can go to LG-Firmwares.com.
What variant do you have?
_____
Also in Developer Options, try changing all your animation transitions to .5x and turning on GPU Render.
See attached screenshot.

Where did you get the LGUP from?
Use the Dev Patched LGUP from any of the Pie KDZ threads and read the installation instructions carefully.
Like from here. Ignore it's a post about downgrading. Just use the Dev Patched LGUP from that post and follow the Dev Patched LGUP installation instructions.

Uninstall/remove any prior version. This means also going to Programs//LG Electronics/LGUP and deleting that folder.

Success but...

Well, finally I did it! Thanks a lot.
But, I hoped that choosing option "Reinstall full image KDZ as "Upgrade" will "keep your data" and it didn't.
All my data disappeared.

Strange. "Upgrade" option (not Refurbish or Partition DL) should have kept your data if flashing the same region firmware.

As per my previous post.. Upon further investigation I added Home to baterry optimization exclusions and sort of removed the issue.. I'll keep digging into it as it bothers me a lot ?

does this solution work for the V30 ThinQ?

Hi ,
Having the same issue with my v30 thinQ. It was only a slight delay before but has gotten worse and delay is much longer. The home page does come back but takes a long time, degrading my ability to use the phone. Would I apply the same KDZ upgrade from the same post you mention. I am not a developer but have had my v30 for several years and have my home page just the way I want it and don't want to lose it. I don't have the battery saver feature on.
Thanks

Yes, why wouldn't it? This is the XDA V30 forum.
If you think "ThinQ" is some kind of special V30, it's not. That's just the silly name LG stuck on ALL V30 variants updated past Nougat.
For V30, "ThinQ" just means you are not on original Nougat, but have updated at some point to Oreo or Pie. It was supposed to denote the A.I. camera software that came with Oreo and above. The V30S variants were the first "JOAN" device to get updated to Oreo from the factory, but all V30 eventually got Oreo updates. So ALL V30 are "ThinkQ".
The post-Nougat A.I.ThinQ camera is great, another reason to NOT stay on Nougat, but still a very stupid name. Not even pronounced "ThinK" -- which would sort of make sense for Artificial intelligence, but instead LG actually pronounces it "Thin... Q".
My answer quoted above is for all V30, no matter what stock firmware they are on. You don't say what variant you have (H930DS, VS996, US998, etc), but I would suggest last Oreo (very stable) for your variant or perhaps last Pie -- but not Pie for US998. For US998 I would say stick with US998 20H (last Oreo).

If everything else works except the Home screen, you could also try to just wipe data for the EasyHome app in the Settings/General/Apps & notifications/App Info menu. Worth trying.
If I were you, I would make a backup first using the Settings/General/Backup/Backup & restore menu. Most people overlook this great LG Backup tool, which can backup all app data and most systems and settings data. You can select what to backup and restore.
In case you have to factory reset or flash it clean, you can restore most of your phone data and settings from that backup. Of course save your Internal Storage to a PC or SD card or USB stick before wiping, including that LG Backup file.

hello guys sorry for my english...i recently unlocked the booloader of my v30 h930, but when i try to enter twrp recovery after flashing the image via fastboot comands,i found this frustrating message "factory data reset is disabled by kill switch"...is there any thing to do ?? thanks again
Odd. Did you flash the twrp image, and then boot the image? as per the WTF instructions?
What command, specifically, are you entering, and then getting this message?
Sounds like twrp didn't install. Make sure you go through all the steps from WTF correctly

Normally we only see that on U.S. T-Mobile H932 which has crappy McAfee installed. Has to be uninstalled before factory reset or you get that error message. Do you have something like that installed?

Personally I have never seen that McAfee stuff on my H932, but maybe it's something you have to deliberately install first.
But we have had others report about this error. As I have posted before, I think it is just "something" (McAfee or whatever) trying to save you from wiping the phone in a way that would trigger Android Factory Reset Protection: The entire point of FRP is to render the phone useless to anyone but the legitimate owner, in case it is wiped from outside the OS while an account is active in the OS. That is a sensible protection. I always wondered why LGs Master Reset (using the buttons) doesn't warn about this before proceeding with its wipe.
But if indeed the error reported by OP is caused by such "protection against unintended triggering of FRP" then the solution should be to remove the Google account in the OS before performing any actions that would wipe the phone outside the OS (LGUP, Master Reset, TWRP etc). Alternatively, perform a Factory Reset from inside the OS first, which also will remove the account in a way that doesn't trigger FRP.
Arguably, this should be mentioned in the various root/WTF/Frankenstein guides, since FRP can have unintended consequences, say in case a user flashes the phone back to stock before selling it or sending it in for repair, and doesn't remove his/her account first. In that case the phone will (or should) demand that the same account be entered on first boot -- and the new owner or repair center would be stuck.
But maybe LGUP Refurbish mode clears FRP, and that's why we don't get more complaints about it...
I apologize if this turns out to be completely unrelated to the error reported by OP
Don't worry I've been through this problem and solution ia simple.
-Boot the phone in normal.
-Plug in the usb cable in your phone and connect to the computer.
-Then type "adb reboot bootloader". When u boot into fastbooot then type "fasboot boot recovery or whatever u named the file.
-Then u will boot into twrp.
I was sold a refurbished v30 off Amazon that had this kill switch enabled also when trying to go into TWRP. I had to return it because it might have been stolen.

I bought a V30 on ebay, is a LS998 Frankenstein, the problem is that the installed ROM is the AS998 and not the US998, it has the kill switch problem. Some way to solve it? I can not access fastboot and I can not install the ROM US998 from LGUP. I tried installing the KDZ US998 from LG UP with Partition UP option but it does not boot. Some way to return to the LS998 ROM?

There are no public LS998 KDZ available.
Which US998 KDZ did you try? If you read the Frankenstein instructions you need to start with US998 Nougat first.
Yes, of the North America V30 variants, only US998 has full fastboot flash commands.

The phone came with the ROM AS99820b (Oreo) :crying:, try to install US99810d and US99820b KDZ. Only the Partition DL option works in the LGUP application, but the phone not boot. The other options show Error: 0x4, Not support cross model download AS998 to US998 . Do you know any way to jump to the US ROM?

I ran across this before where some dealer probably used Octopus box to convert LS998 to AS998 and the new owner couldn't then convert to anything else...
All I can suggest is you try Board DL or Refurbish mode.
Is wiping the system partition the same thing as factory data reset? Will that trigger ye' old kill switch?
I ask, because I've run into the cross-flash warning once before while trying to flash US998 while on VZ996. To get rid of that message, I simply wiped my system partition in TWRP and was then able to use LGUP with the US998 KDZ.
So if you can wipe your system partition, then maybe it will get you to a spot where you can kdz?
I got it!
After many attempts, use a LGUP that I found in the LG G7 forum, the difference is that it was from CLI, restore the KDZ Nougat, when restarting appeared a screen with the android doll and the text without command. The next step was not clear, I pressed all the buttons with different convincing. The phone restarted several times and remained in the same window, in one of those attempts I went to the LG logo and to the initial configuration, the phone was blocked by google. Surely this is the reason why the seller installed the ROM AS998.
Turn off the phone and from LGUP update to the Oreo version. Again the error of blocking by google. On YouTube I found a tutorial to bypass this step. Now I am in the US99820b version. I followed the steps to unlock the bootloader, I had a problem with the USB cable, I must use a good quality cable. The problem of the message "factory data reset is disabled by kill switch" continues, but I can enter TWRP from fastboot.
I will try to install a ROM from TWRP and see if the message disappears.

You can also enter TWRP using the Recovery Reboot app I recommend in the WTF instructions.
US998 20B is old (but necessary for bootloader unlock). You should update to US998 20H. Download 20E, 20F, 20G, 20H and dirty flash back-to-back, using TWRP auto queue function -- with flashing Magisk last.

NO. You need to be on newest firmware before flashing any AOSP/Lineage ROMs due to recent changes. That's where people mess up. They try to go from old Oreo or even Nougat (H932) firmware to custom ROMs. You need foundation of newest firmware. Read post #2 of this sticky:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v30/how-to/root-v30-t3927154
A whole lot of recent posts in Lineage are about people not updating their stock firmware first.
Here's the US998 KDZ/TWRP-flashable thread:

There is something EXTREMELY wrong with my LG V30+

I DO know that all my data is in there, just locked away.

When you say "unlocked" that means two different things -- "carrier unlocked" or "bootloader unlocked/rooted".
Carrier unlocked we don't really care about for stuff like this. What you were describing could be root app/module conflicting with another.
But you are completely stock.
Have you installed any new apps recently? I know you said nothing "strange" but strange doesn't come in the app title.
Something is corrupted about your phone or something is BLOCKING normal phone functions. If it's not an app you recently installed, then the only solution is to re-set your phone and/or reinstall your firmware.
If you were bootloader unlocked and rooted, you would have the option of restoring a recent system backup you made -- but you said you are not modded.
So...
1) You need to Master Reset your phone -- which will lose all your data. (Master Reset is sort of factory reset, but using the hardware buttons.)
With your device powered off, press and hold the Power button and Volume Down buttons simultaneously for a few seconds.
When the LG logo appears, quickly release and then re-hold the Power button while keep holding the Volume Down button.
Let go of the buttons when the onscreen menu appears.
When you see the option to Delete all user data (including LG and carrier apps) and reset all settings message prompt, press the Volume Down button to highlight Yes.
Then press the Power button to reset the device.
Wait until the reset is complete then reboot your device. If it’s able to boot up successfully, proceed with the initial setup.

2) If that doesn't work, then you need to use Dev Patched LGUP in Refurbish mode to reinstall your stock firmware. (Are you on Oreo US998 or Pie US998?) That will also lose your data.
there has got to be a way to do this without losing all my data...the crazy part is that I can't seem to get the phone to show as a hard drive on my pc when I plug it in.

As I said if you were rooted, there would be another way. You could boot into TWRP and restore a recent backup. Like going back in time.
But the two methods I just noted in my previous post are your choices, I believe. If you functionality doesn't come back after Master Reset, then the you need to reinstall stock firmware using Dev Patched LGUP in Refurbish mode.
Sure, if anyone has any other suggestions, please chime in.

OK. If you are on older firmware, it might be possible to flash a firmware update in UPDATE mode which would save your data. This UPDATE might fix some stuff that is broken.
The more sure method is REFURBISH mode, but that definitely wipes out your data.
So, answer the questions I have been asking.
US998?
Are you on Nougat, Oreo, or Pie? If Oreo, which letter version?
The problem with getting my exact model number is I'm not sure where to look, not like I can look at my phone info in my settings. :/
I'm gonna look at my newegg order history and see if I can get those details

The only way to carrier unlock LS998 is to convert to carrier unlocked variant. I bet it's now US998 and probably still on 2 year old NOUGAT 10d.
Go to Settings/System/About Phone/Software Info.
You can use Update mode of Dev Patched LGUP and update to Oreo 20h, keeping your data. This will possibly fix your issue.

How do I get into DL mode, and don't worry, answer whenever, I appreciate it
@ChazzMatt: You deserve even more credit for your helpfulness than you're already getting around here.
@Ace452: You could try LG Bridge on a PC and see if it can back up your phone. It may not if the system is completely messed up, but it's worth a shot. If it works, it can save the contents of Internal Storage to the PC so you have your photos etc. Saving App data is more doubtful given the situation, but still worth a try.
I apologize for wagging a finger, but I would point out that this is why regular backups are a good habit with any computer. Once a failure hits (which it always does, sooner or later) it's usually too late to save the date. In your case, there is a good chance that Google will have backed up some data, which can be restored after factory reset or on another phone.
Good luck to you. You have the best help you could possibly want!

Frankenstein(ing) us998 to vs998

I want to know if frankensteining a carrier unlocked us998 to vs99(Verizon version) is just a quick one step process to latest Pie, or do I need to install all updates one by one? The us998 is activated on Verizon and has Android 7.0 on it. Thanks.

tried all. After a few restarts, now get a "DLL for us99810b is invalid. Please install valid DLL package (*.msi) for the model". I've uninstalled and reinstalled a few times, deleted the folder, moved cable around, tried new cable. This is the furthest i've gotten now.

One of the trouble shooting tips in the Frankenstein post is to reinstall drivers, another is to try a different computer.
The dll error ALWAYS means either you didn't install the correct version of the Dev Patched LGUP or not using it correctly (like not launching from desktop shortcut, but instead trying to use the folder .exe file). If you are sure you have installed correct, have installed all the correct drivers, then try a different computer.
Thanks for reply. I've tried all steps from the post. Reinstalled, deleted, restarted. Only thing I haven't done is try a different computer. I get "LGUP can't load the model[c:\Program Files\LG Electronics\LGUP\model\com" error. Am i missing a file?
I noticed that the program also installs onto my C:. I also have to delete c:\LG Electronics folder. Is this normal? I've downloaded LGUP Dual from both links in the post. I guess i'll try a different PC. Thanks for your help.
I got it to recognize! Had to try on another computer but now it works. One more question though. Do I need to make a backup? If for some unknown reason I need to get back to the original software, how do I go about doing that? I have us998 with us99810b installed with Android 7.1.2. Thanks again.

You would simply do the reverse. You would flash your phone back to US998 KDZ. However, US998 10b was very early Nougat. If you ever go back to US998, like to sell the phone or something, I would at least flash to newer US998 firmware -- like 20h (last Oreo).

Actually it's VS996, for the Verizon V30, not VS9998.
So you're on US998 Nougat?
Technically for Frankenstein, using Dev Patched LGUP you should Partition DL to VS996 Nougat, use Master Reset, then Refurbish to VS996 Pie.
However, US998 and VS996 have a level of compatibility the others don't enjoy. I think you can Partition DL straight to VS996 Pie, followed by Master Reset.
If you're not sure what Master Reset is (sequence of button), see the Frankenstein instructions.

Thanks for the reply. Do you recommend going straight to Pie? If its more reliable in steps ex. Nougat, Oreo, Pie, then ill do it. I was just wondering if jumping straight to Pie would cause issues.

No, won't cause issues if you're using the KDZ.
____
You're not Bootloader Unlocked and rooted, are you? You don't care about that? It's fine if you don't. Neither is my wife's, sister's nor brother-in-law's V30/V30+.
BUT if that is something you would want, no, you can't go straight to VS996 Pie until you do some other stuff.
But if you just want Verizon firmware, then you should be able to jump straight to VS996 Pie from US998 Nougat, going by what other Verizon users have done. Use Dev Patched LGUP in Partition DL mode, with all Partitions. Then Master Reset.
If for some reason, doesn't work, then tour would need to flash VS996 Nougat, Master Reset, then VS996 Pie.
At the most, all you would need
Thanks for the reply. I'm having difficulty getting LGUP to run. I get a 'LGUP can't load the model' I got the file from download LG dualmode. Any suggestions? I'm just trying to load Verizon stock on here, no root. Thanks.

I'm wondering the same as charulo316, but my v30+ is already running pie, but for the unlocked and I want to switch to the Verizon one, do I need to downgrade to Oreo and then back the the Verizon pie version??

You are basically asking about Frankenstein, where one North American variant can be fully converted to another (firmware, modem with LTE bands, etc)
Normally, for most North American variants, when flashing KDZ (LG stock firmware image) you actually need to downgrade all the way to Nougat first before upgrading to more current firmware. See Frankenstein instructions.
But US998/VS996 have a very close relationship. If have US998 firmware on the phone, you can go straight to Verizon VS996 Pie firmware using Dev Patched LGUP. For this specific combination you do not need to downgrade first.

Thank you!! I did some more searching around the site late last night and am going to try it tonight. The main reason is because i just switched to Verizon and the WIFI calling option disappeared even though it was "turned" through Verizon. It seems to be that even though I have a carrier unlocked phone, Verizon doesn't see that and will block certain features unless it is a Verizon phone. I have access to the network, but not the wifi calling
So I'm still having issues. I've downloaded and installed drivers and LGUP Dual mode from the link and can't seem to get it to work. I get the phone into download mode and it goes into the firmware upgrade screen but my LGUP doesn't load. I get a "LGUP can't load the model[c:\Program Files\Lg Electronics\LGUP\model\com" error. Any suggestions?
Just trying to install VS996 onto a Verizon enabled us998 so that i can get wifi calling, visual voicemail and video calling to work. Thanks

See the trouble shooting tips in the Frankenstein Instructions. How many of those have you tried?
Sounds like LGUP wasn't installed correctly. It needs to be installed using very specific steps. There are other possible explanations, but this is where I would start.
Uninstall LGUP completely (in Programs & Features control panel), then delete all its remnants and folders and restart Windows (not Shutdown, Restart).
Now download LGUP from the link in one of ChazzMatt's Pie KDZ ROM threads, and install it EXACTLY folding the steps he gives, no shortcuts or deviations.
If it still doesn't work, follow his troubleshooting steps in the same ROM thread.
Edit: Oops, Chazz beat me to it.

I think i bricked my lgv30 trying to root it. please help me.

I was trying to unlock the bootloader and root my lg v30 (h931) or at&t v30 using this method https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76584629&postcount=193
I used this method to try to get back to android 8 to root: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg...ssflashing-t3780969/post76510671#post76510671
I used this android nougat version: https://lg-firmwares.com/downloads-file/13784/US99810d_01_0411\
and used the duel patched dev version, I can't find a link I have like 8 million tabs open right now.
What happened:
I was following everything in that guide exactly and got the the point of flashing my phone with android nougat. Everything seemed to be working find and it said it was completed successfully, now my phone isn't detected by my computer at all and my phone will not power on. LG doesn't have a recovery or fastboot mode on the v30 but normall the shortcut to it is volume down and power button and when I do that the lg v30 splash screen comes up and keeps booting over and over. If I try to boot any other way its just completely black and comes up with a not connected screen for like a frame and then goes to black again. there is also a picture but I can't make it out in the one frame It is on screen.
I know I was an idiot for thinking I could root my phone and I am really really regretting it now but if anyone has any ideas I literally will try anything at this point. Thank you so much.
I just found the think on master reset and now I am on android 7.1.2 working. I guess I will try and continue? this has been an emotional rollercoaster

yes sorry, actually im having a new issue that I can't find a solution for anywhere. I followed all the instructions for installing havoc on my lg v30 but it has been at a white spilling loading wheel for about an hour now. I know the first build can take a while but this seems a little extreme
edit, I just ran adb bootloader recovery and now im in TWRP. not sure why that didn't work last time but it worked!

Since you have a former AT&T H931 you did all the extra prep steps necessary to install LOS custom ROM for that model?
V30 CUSTOM ROMs FAQ
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=79459374&postcount=2
See question number 3 of the custom ROM FAQ. H931 and H933 need a lot of extra steps to run custom ROM.
That FAQ is linked in the WTF Instructions thread.

I think I really messed up. so the rom in the the post didn't work either so I tried to do a master reset and now I am stuck at the splash screen with that lg logo staring back at me for all eternity. all I can do is enter the master reset menu now but it doesn't do anything. my computer won't see my phone as an adb device right now and I can't enter download mode. the lg tool detects my phone but I can't select it because it is an unknown device. am I just screwed?

Have you tried entering Download mode manually before opening LGUP?
1) Go into download mode (power off completely, then hold volume up button while plugging in USB cable)
2) open patched LGUP and KDZ via REFURBISH. At this point, you would flash US998 Oreo 20h KDZ instead of trying to flash US998 30b Pie. After you recover your phone to 20h Oreo, then you can take another run at US998 Pie if you wish.
3) IF your bootloader is unlocked, it will remain unlocked. However, you will lose TWRP, since you are flashing the full KDZ.
At that point, you will then go through Section 6 of the WTF instructions again to reintall TWRP and root.

Need to refresh my LG-US998, want to go stock-ish/unrooted, carrier is T-Mo. Advice?

So, I've been having a lot of stability issues on my phone which has been running on a ROM which I flashed back in December of 2019. I'm fuzzy on the details of just what I did back then, but according to Software Info in About Phone it's a Pie ROM, Software Version US99830b, build PKQ1.190414.001.
I haven't had time to follow the LG V30 scene at all since then, and likely won't be able to keep up with it in the future either. So for the sake of stability when I reflash it this time, I don't want to bother with having Root or anything fancy. I have a vague recollection of some LG bloat/spyware that was important to remove for performance/battery life, but aside from that, I just want a stock experience this time around.
Coming back to the forum, I saw the thread about carriers, VoLTE, and ROMs, and while I'm not sure I've absorbed all the important details about that upon reading through it, that's going to be a concern for me as well, so I should mention I'm on T-Mo and plan to be for a while.
So I was wondering if anyone could please point me in the direction of just what steps I should be taking this time around?
Temporarily flash back to Nougat US998 KDZ to erase the effects of Pie.
Then flash to last Oreo US998 20h which is very stable. (I'm on rooted last Oreo US998.)
Use "Refurbish" or "DL Partition" to flash the KDZ. Then you no longer have root.
Your bootloader will still be unlocked. If you want to lock it back, follow these instructions. Do NOT relock the bootloader until you have re-flashed the full KDZ and no longer have TWRP custom recovery. You have to be back 100% stock (even recovery partition) to re-lock the bootloader without bricking the phone.
Personally, I would not do that but at that point (on US998 20h) just reinstall TWRP and Magisk and remove the LG spyware.

You are using the Dev Patched LGUP? Also, which mode -- Refurbish or Partition DL (all partitions)?
Using tecknight's dual mode LGUP, in Dev Mode, and I get the SPC Code error message with Refurbish, and with Partition DL, as well as with other options like Dump, or Phonesetting. (Did not try it with the DO NOT TOUCH options like Chip Erase.)

Good you didn't touch Chip Erase.
Yes, Dev Mode is correct with tecknight's dual mode LGUP.
Strange you are getting that error message with both those modes (Refurbish and Partition DL).
Try this .bat file: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...r-instructions.3790500/page-200#post-84374965
If that doesn't work, you may have to try a different computer.
No success with the .BAT, or on the other computer in my household. Still getting "Error:SPC Code does not match. Please, try again." at the 4% mark.
